Desmonda Cathabel has just finished her run as Eurydice in the West End production of Hadestown.She's now in rehearsals to star as Lily Turner in Rosie: A New Musical. The show will be performed as a one-night-only semi-staged gala at the Adelphi Theatre on Tuesday 17th March.Rosie tells the true story of Miss Rosie Boote, who was raised in a convent in Ireland and dreamt of becoming a star on the West End stage in Edwardian London. The show has book, music and lyrics by Chris Broom.Desmonda is from Indonesia and came to the UK to train at the Royal Academy of Music. She won the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year in 2022.Desmonda was a quarter finalist in the ITV casting show Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream. Her theatre credits include alternate Kim in Miss Saigon (Sheffield Crucible), Princess Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin (UK & Ireland Tour) and From Here To Eternity (Charing Cross Theatre). Broadway star Nick Rashad Burroughs is in London playing Horace in Todrick Hall's musical Midnight at Sadlers Wells East.Nick made his Broadway debus as an Angel and Billy Porter's understudy for Lola in Kinky Boots. He went on to do King Kong on Broadway, before being part of the original Broadway cast of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, initially in the show's ensemble before taking over the role of Ike Turner. Nick's other theatre credits include playing Lautrec in the US tour of Moulin Rouge, Minstrel and cover Shakespeare in the US tour of Something Rotten as well as lots of US regional theatre where he has played roles like Donkey in Shrek, Seaweed in Hairspray, Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar and he was also Jimmy Early in Dreamgirls at The Muny. Ntombizodwa Ndlovu is starring as Marie Knight in Marie and Rosetta.Written by George Brant and directed by Monique Touko, Marie and Rosetta premiered last year at the Rose Theatre in Kingston ahead of a short tour. The production is now transferring to the West End for a limited run at @SohoPlace. KoKo Alexandra is starring as Katherine Jackson and Kate in the West End production of MJ The Musical. KoKo is from Alabama and has been on an incredible journey so far in her career. After spending many years performing at sea on cruise ships and appearing on The Voice US, KoKo moved to London. She received huge acclaim for her performance as Lady Liv in Play On on tour and at the Lyric Hammersmith and later played Spirit of the Ring in Aladdin at the Palace Theatre in Newark. Madeline Charlemagne is In The Frame!Madeline recently had a big career chapter with Hadestown (Lyric Theatre). She was part of the original West End cast as a Fate and understudy for Eurydice. A few months into the run Madeline took over the role of Eurydice full-time. At the end of her contract, she returned to playing a Fate alongside the original cast for the special filmed performances for the Hadestown live capture. After training at Central School of Speech and Drama, Madeline's early theatre credits include Carousel (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre), Hex (National Theatre), Kick (Lyric Hammersmith), 42 Balloons (Vaudeville Theatre) and The Secret Life of Beas (Almeida Theatre). Laura Dawkes can currently be seen starring as Princess Anna in Disney's Frozen on Disney Plus.Upon graduating from Emil Dale, in 2023 Laura made her West End debut as Anna in Frozen at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and she continued with the show until it closed the following year. Pippa Cleary is In The Frame!Pippa is the only British female composer to have had three musicals produced in the West End - My Son's a Queer (But What Can You Do?), The Great British Bake Off Musical and The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾. Over her 16 year career, Pippa has worked in theatre, TV, animation, pop and advertising. She wrote the first original opening number for the 2023 Olivier Awards performed by Hannah Waddingham.One of Pippa's latest projects is Treasure Island: A New Musical Adventure which she is writing with Jake Brunger. The show is premiering at the Bristol Old Vic, directed by Paul Foster, for a festive run later this year. Jamaal Fields-Green is starring as Michael Jackson in the West End production of MJ!Jamaal started out as the MJ and Middle Michael standby on Broadway. He then headed out on the US tour, first as the alternate MJ before taking over the role full-time. During this time Jamaal made a couple of trips to London to play MJ in the West End for some very special emergency performances and in January Jamaal took over the role in London where he continues to dazzle audience to huge acclaim at the Prince Edward Theatre.Jamaal's other theatre credits include playing John Laurens/Philip Hamilton in the Chicago production of Hamilton and he was in Choir Boy for the Philadelphia Theatre Company. Jamaal has worked on screen and created his own work in the form of several short films.
