Brian, Blake, and Richard are joined by a very special guest this week for Episode 551 of the Chasing Tone Podcast -  Tracii Guns tells us about his favorite pedals, plugins, and pajamas!   Please be aware this episode contains infrequent swearing and drug references - not suitable for minors! This week the guys are pretty stoked to have one of Brian's all-time guitar heroes on the show. Tracii Guns is a legendary LA based guitarist, super talented player, and happens to be the founding member of a couple of huge bands you may have heard of. He also has a vast amount of stories and anecdotes to recount...and they are seriously funny. Brian drills straight into the culture of the Sunset Strip scene of the 1980s as the guys take a "behind the scenes" peek into the LA rock scene of that era. Tracii talks about some of the legendary bands he played alongside when LA Guns first made it, including Mötley Crüe, Skid Row, WASP, and a whole bunch more. Richard looks at the differences between the English and the US Music scene of that period and Tracii has some great insights and a mutual love of some classic British bands.Blake asks about the early days of Grunge and how that changed the direction of rock and Tracii gives us a candid and hilarious take on how that played out and what it meant for the musicians of the time. Tracii then tells us how Brian helped him through an existential rig crisis and you might be surprised by the fixes they came up with.http://www.lagunsmusic.com/ The Nigels, The Rock Sock, Kid Creole, Steve Vai, Rockman stories...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Awesome Course, Merch and DIY mods:https://www.guitarpedalcourse.com/https://www.wamplerdiy.com/Find us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.comSupport the show

In February 2023, Tracii Hutsona was sentenced to 51 months in Federal Prison for her crimes against Joumana Kidd, and given until April 13th to voluntarily turn herself in to the US Marshals. She ended up turning herself in on March 20th, about a month early, to the prison camp at FCI Phoenix. At first glance, it might seem that Tracii was eager to take responsibility for her actions and start serving her well deserved sentence.  In this week's episode, we'll wrap up this story by bringing you up to speed on where things stand today. I'll walk you through the REAL reasons Tracii turned herself in early. We'll take a look at Tracii's first-hand account of life in federal prison through her blog, and we'll cover the different motions she filed in the hopes of reducing her time. Will this story end with Tracii serving out her 51 month punishment as the Court intended? Or, will she manage to find a workaround and get her sentence reduced? On July 17, 2019, The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon aired on NBC. Four minutes into Jimmy's opening monologue, he made reference to a real-life lawsuit that seemed too ridiculous to be true: the owners of a Miami restaurant, called Bacon Bitch, were suing the owners of a San Diego restaurant called Breakfast Bitch. He joked that it would be the first case ever where the judge would say “how do you bitches plead?” The live audience erupted in laughter at the sheer absurdity of it. But, in reality, the situation wasn't funny at all. The owner of Bacon Bitch, Chris Viso, was suing Tracii Hutsona for trademark infringement. While the whole situation might have seemed insignificant to most, it was yet another example of Tracii taking something that didn't belong to her. The restaurants were getting national attention thanks to Jimmy Fallon, but no one knew the extent of the violations, the decades of fraud and thievery Tracii had under her belt. Not to mention the fact she was actively stealing over a million dollars from Joumana Kidd, some of which was even used to open Breakfast Bitch. It would still be another year and a half before Tracii was arrested for any of that. By that time, she will have already opened a second restaurant, been sued at least twice, and moved from one multi million dollar home to the next. Infuriatingly, even after she was arrested, Tracii continued to live a consequence-free lifestyle for years, flaunting herself and her business all over social media as if nothing had happened.  In this week's episode we'll talk about how Breakfast Bitch came to be, and we'll weave through all the ridiculous things Tracii did after she was arrested, right up to her sentencing. Would she ever be able to accept responsibility for her actions? Or, in the ultimate act of manipulation, would she attempt to avoid accountability by shifting the blame onto Joumana Kidd? Spoiler alert: it's the latter! Follow host, Jami Rice, @JamiOnAir on Instagram and TikTok to keep up with this case, and others. Check out Jami's other true crime podcast, MURDERISH. In January 2007 NBA star point guard for the New Jersey Nets, Jason Kidd, filed for divorce from his wife: actress and journalist Joumana Kidd. What followed was an extremely messy, and very public end to their 10 year marriage. Fast forward 8 years to 2015, Joumana decided it was a good time to move back to her home state of California. As she was preparing to go to Los Angeles to do some house hunting, she got a phone call from her doctor that would completely change her life in more ways than one. Joumana had breast cancer and would need to undergo surgery and radiation. Little did Joumana know, this terrifying diagnosis would also be an invitation for Tracii Hutsona to casually waltz into her life. In this week's episode, I'll walk you through the tangled web of reality and fiction Tracii weaved in an attempt to propel herself back into the spotlight of fame and fortune that she'd been chasing since childhood …or at least the illusion of it. From her VIP concierge company, to a YouTube reality show, to social media posts dripping with diamonds, and even a foray into the restaurant business, Tracii pulled out all the stops this time. Even after getting caught scamming, again, she'd still managed to keep it all going for years. How many people would Tracii steal from and exploit before finally being held accountable? And how could she borrow her way into a single mother's life, while she battled breast cancer, and rip her off for millions? It's September 2008 and Tracii Hutsona has been out on bond for the last 10 months. By this time, the original indictment has been superseded twice, adding numerous charges for the schemes she pulled at several staffing agencies. Tracii has also been evicted from her $1.5 million Orange County, CA home for failing to pay over $30,000 in rent, but Jacqueline Ellman didn't know any of this. If she had, she probably would've never become close friends with Tracii. Now, Jacqueline was holding the bill for a credit card in her name that she'd never seen before, and she had a sneaking suspicion Tracii had something to do with it. She sent Tracii a text message asking her about it. Tracii called back and tearfully admitted to the fraud, telling Jacqueline that she had a problem, but she was trying to be better. In reality, Tracii had opened not one, but TWO cards in Jacqueline's name, and used her existing cards without permission. She also attempted to rent an apartment in her so-called friend's name. Unbelievably, Jacqueline wasn't even the only “friend” that Tracii was taking advantage of during this time. In this week's episode we'll explore how, even though Tracii touted herself as an advocate for women and social justice, it was women whom she chose to victimize, women who were close friends, whom she exploited at seemingly every turn. We'll also follow Tracii through another round of federal charges, sentencing, and prison time. Will she emerge a changed and rehabilitated woman? Or, will she continue her pattern of manipulating anyone who dared offer her a little bit of grace? Follow host, Jami Rice, @JamiOnAir on Instagram and TikTok to keep up with this case, and others. Tracii Hutsona is so persuasive that she was able to convince a car dealership that she needed an expensive, fancy car for Arnold Schwarzenegger to drive. As a testament to her level of con artistry, she got the car! Tracii, however, maintains that this story isn't true, that stories about her criminal history are merely exaggerations to make her look bad. She's also highly offended at being labeled a con artist, even though the judge who sentenced her in 2023 called her a serial con artist. Tracii worked tirelessly to change the perspective and shift blame in order to keep her schemes going. In this episode, we take a look at some of Tracii's schemes from the last 30 plus years, and how she carried on a double life in order to constantly project an image of wealth and success, seemingly without regard for how her actions affected everyone around her. We'll find out if what Tracii says has any merit: has her past been sensationalized in order to make her look bad? Or, is she trying to downplay her criminal history in an effort to control the narrative in a classic con artist move? Dirty Money Moves: Women in White Collar Crime is BACK! In Season 3, we're deep diving into the case involving Tracii Hutsona, a self-described “winner” who appeared to have it all: successful businesses, multimillion dollar mansions, luxury cars, and plenty of cash to spend on high end jewelry and vacations. She's an intriguing woman who's had a lengthy acting and modeling career, one that saw her on the cover of several major magazines, including Italian Vogue. She also had alleged romantic ties to Keanu Reeves. But the facts of Tracii's life that make her so intriguing, are also the facts we're checking and not much about Tracii seems to be real, except maybe her abilities as a con artist. Most recently, she made headlines for embezzling more than $1 million from Joumana Kidd, actress and ex wife of NBA star Jason Kidd, via Tracii's luxury concierge business. Tracii opened a restaurant in San Diego, fittingly called “Breakfast Bitch,” which was funded, in part, by Joumana's money. These recent crimes may have grabbed all the media attention, but they are by no means Tracii's first run-ins with the law. She's had a long history of schemes, going back 30 years. Yet, the most shocking thing about Tracii isn't the dollar amount she's managed to steal over the years, but the way in which she victimizes the people closest to her, over and over again. This is the story of an extremely charismatic woman who can manipulate even the most savvy person into believing exactly what she needs them to, all in the pursuit of a lifestyle of luxury, glamor, and self-indulgence. It's early February, 2021 in Phoenix Arizona. Federal agents have been on the hunt for Tracii Hutsona, a woman wanted on charges of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft for stealing more than $1 million from her cancer-stricken, single mother of three employer. Tracii's motive: she needed funding for her lavish lifestyle. Agents find Tracci at her restaurant “Breakfast Bitch.” She tried to run but the chase was short-lived. News cameras captured the aftermath of the arrest with Tracii locked in handcuffs as she stood outside of her company car. Tracii's arrest shocked many of her friends and employees, who had no idea Tracii had spent much of the previous 30 years in and out of prison or on probation or parole for stealing and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to support a lavish lifestyle she'd been chasing her entire life. She'd racked up a slew of scams and schemes, leaving a trail of victims in her wake. Tracii has a magnetic personality and is easy to like, but hidden underneath her million dollar smile lies a remarkable ability to persuade those around her to believe anything she needs them to. Her own family, her friends, and her victims have all described Tracii as a pathological liar; a lifelong con artist who is exceptionally good at what she does. By the end of this season, you might be surprised as to how all of this chaos plays out. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Tracii Guns, who gave his name to his band L.A. Guns, and, earlier, Guns & Roses before Slash joined as lead guitarist, rose to the top of the Sunset Strip music scene in its early-80s heyday and has never slowed down since. If you've ever seen Tracii play a guitar solo, it's difficult to recognize where the instrument ends and the man begins. The intensity with which Tracii Guns plays guitar, the way he melts out of our dimension and into a world of sound, is awe inspiring. He writes and records with nearly the same intensity and speed that he plays guitar. After 10 studio albums with L.A. Guns, two with Brides of Destruction, a supergroup he cofounded with Nikki Sixx, and 8 other records, Tracii is a tireless guitar player and songwriter. And now, he's got a brand new collaboration with Michael Sweet of Stryper, a completely new sound, in the very Heavy Metal, often Doom Metal-influenced, debut record of the project called Sunbomb. Pariah Burke recently spoke with Tracii Guns about: His unadulterated feelings about settling the lawsuit for the L.A. Guns name against former bandmates Steve Riley and Kelly Nickels who were also performing and recording as L.A. Guns Whether singer Phil Lewis owns part of L.A. Guns The "laziest guy in the world" Who is "too old to play the new stuff" Why Kelly Nickels was really hired Why Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue is a good musician Why Sunbomb is "the sh*t" Working with Stryper's Michael Sweet The 2 new L.A. He's a founding member of the two biggest rock bands ever to have the word "Guns" in their names. He's an icon of California metal and hard rock. He's got a lethal looking new Kramer signature model guitar in his name. He's TRACII GUNS, and his main band since the early- to mid-'80s, L.A. Guns, is enjoying a resurgence — and also enjoying the return of lead singer Phil Lewis. Plugging in that new Kramer for you and sharing stories of how he built — and how he survived — his wild career, Tracii sits down for an epic interview. Hosted by Jude Gold. Steve Cooper talks with guitarist Tracii Guns. Tracii formed L.A. Guns in 1983 and in 1985 he formed a new band with Hollywood Rose frontman Axl Rose. They put the two band names together; Guns 'N' Roses was born, but they both finally went separate ways and he rejoined L.A. Guns. After some lineup changes, the band finally signed with Polygram Records in 1987 recording their first album titled L.A. Guns. Over 1,000,000 copies were sold earning the band its first platinum album award. A compilation of the videos made for this first album also earned the band a gold video award. In 1989 the band went into the studio to record their second album titled Cocked and Loaded. They sold over 1,000,000 copies earning the band its second platinum record award. The video compilation of this second album earned the band a second gold video award. Their third album Hollywood Vampires was released in 1991. Over 1,000,000 copies were sold earning the band its third platinum album award. In late 2002 he decided to join Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx to create the project Brides of Destruction, signing on as lead guitarist and after the departure of Sixx he decided to revive the most important band of his life: L.A. Guns. He is currently in the studio with the band's singer Phil Lewis recording new music.
