For the Glory KC is back with the 135th episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City came back down to earth this week with a tough loss against Los Angeles Football Club on the road. Things looked bright early when Dejan Joveljic scored his 10th goal of the season off a Manu Garcia assist. But the lead didn't even last until halftime.Calamitous set piece defending led to a 1-1 halftime score and the capper on a bad game for Memo Rodriguez led to the game winning penalty kick for Denis Bouanga.Speaking of Bouanga, despite him having a goal and an assist, Jansen Miller seemed to be in his head. Maybe Bouanga gets the last laugh, but all the victimizing Denis did came at the expense of others, not Miller. Jansen more than held his own against one of the elite players in Major League Soccer. It's wild to say Miller (and frankly Pulskamp again) had good games when three goals went in. But they really did. And the joy Miller clearly gets from hounding attackers was all over his face.Sheena and I also discussed lots of other topics including: the return of Jake Davis from injury, the return of Stephen Afrifa from the bench, Khiry Shelton's ever-changing hair color, a bloody Shapi Suleymanov, who the heck was the captain after Daniel Salloi subbed off and many other topics from the SKC/LAFC game. Before we got to the winning KC team, we also had to talk about the big news that Benny Feilhaber has landed a job with the Oakland Roots of the USL Championship. It's a short-term deal. Is it so he can make sure he's available for the Sporting KC job?The KC Current went out and crushed it again, this time winning on the road against the newly crowned CONCACAF W Champions, NJ/NY Gotham. Michelle Cooper and Temwa Chawinga scored early, but it was the VAR that may have come to their rescue late. The officials seemed to get most things right when overturning Gotham goals, but that Esther goal is a little dicey to change. We also discussed a really good interview Forbes did with Chris and Angie Long along with the new 2,000 seat stadium the KC Current are building at their Riverside complex. In the Digital Crawl, we touch on a few more topics, including:More SKC II woesUSWNT/USMNT resultsThe Chicago Fire privately funding a new stadiumHere is a rundown of topics (and approximate start times):Sporting KC come back to Earth in LA - 7:28Benny gets a job and more in the SKC roundup - 41:25KC Current get a big road win (again) - 49:25Another KC women's soccer stadium and more in the Current roundup - 55:39Digital Crawl - 1:09:46Upcoming GamesUSMNT vs. Switzerland - Tuesday, June 10th at 7:00PM CDTKC Current vs Racing Louisville, Saturday, June 14th at 6:30PMSporting KC vs. FC Dallas, Saturday, June 14th at 7:30PMSKC II have 3 weeks offAs a special gift to For the Glory KC listeners and KC Soccer Journal readers, Backheeled dot com is giving away 30 days of their amazing, independent American soccer coverage for free. Welcome to the fiery finale of our four-part series! In this episode, Kelsey and Devan throw down the glittery black carpet and invite you to unapologetically walk into your villain era—the one where you stop apologizing for being too much and start loving yourself loudly. In this episode, we dive into:What it actually means to be in your villain era (hint: it's not about being evil)Rewriting self-worth stories and ditching the “earn your worth” mentalityWhy comparison is a tool of oppression (especially for women)The myth of imposter syndrome and why it's keeping you smallPrioritizing yourself without guilt (yes, even if it makes people uncomfortable)How the “blue guy” from Megamind is your new self-worth icon Plus, Devan shares her behind-the-scenes process of revamping her self-doubt course into a bold new immersive audio bundle: Stop Talking Sh*t About Yourself — and spills the tea on the funnel she's building around it (no gatekeeping here).Kelsey gets real about silencing herself in the past, learning to take up space, and that moment she realized loving yourself out loud isn't conceited—it's revolutionary. Favorite quotes from this episode:“I'm not going to shrink myself just because I take up more space.”“You're not the villain for prioritizing yourself. You're just finally not the sidekick.”“Comparison is a tool of oppression—and we're not playing that game anymore.”Don't forget: If you've listened to episodes 35–38, there's a special giveaway waiting for you! Bad guys and villains are two different things. We all can be "bad guys" at some point in our lives, but a true villain is on a different level. This week, I revisited some of my favorite villains and discussed the characteristics that make them great.
Theatre kids, 300 chicken nuggets, the sister switch, Ed Sheeran lore, strange celebrity crushes, ventures in salad dressing, conflict resolution, messy tiktoks, x-rated mornings and microdosing tequila. Somehow it all makes sense- but only if you listen to 6&9.

At the end of my first podcast with guest, ER nurse and author, Jenn Johnson, I asked her what I ask all guests. “What are 1 to 2 ways women can be braver at work?” Jen proceeded to tell me, “Enter your villain era.” I stopped in my tracks. What did that mean?It means loving yourself enough to consider your needs. It means that you are drawing and holding your boundaries. It means relishing in self-care. It means putting yourself first.I have to say that I felt guilty easing into this concept. I'm sure you can relate. We as women are used to putting ourselves lower on the list. Everyone else comes first. Not with this dare I say scandalous concept!During my conversation with Jenn, we chatted about:What embracing your villain era means to Jenn. How do we embrace our villain eraIf you could be any villain character, who would you be?What are the first steps to embracing our villain era?How do we deal with shame or guilt that will inevitably pop up when we decide to do this? How can women support other women in their villain eras? Here is more about Jenn:Jenn Johnson is the founder of Rx for Growth and the author of Nursing Intuition.. Her career is a testament to dedication, resilience, and compassion. As you enforce boundaries, you might become the "villain" in the narratives of those who relied on your compliance. But what led you to supply them in the first place? Remember, the resistance you face reflects your own inner turmoil. By accepting your role in the dynamics, you shift from seeking validation to prioritizing emotional authenticity, opening the door to genuine connection. Ultimately, even in serving others, we must stay accountable to our true selves. In authenticity, we understand that the care we've shown others must first be directed inward.
In this Halloween-themed episode, Daniel and Garet dive into the season of spookiness and villains, exploring the idea of embracing your inner “villain” as a way of living authentically. With the season of costumes and haunted houses setting the tone, they ask: Why do we sometimes feel like villains for simply being ourselves? As they discuss everything from favorite Halloween characters to how villains in pop culture own their power, the conversation shifts to something deeper—how embracing confidence and setting boundaries can be perceived as “villainous” by others. They explore the balance between empathy and self-assurance, discussing their own experiences of when they've been perceived as villains for putting themselves first. Ultimately, this episode is about owning your choices and celebrating your authentic self, villain era and all! Key Episode Highlights:Halloween Vibes: Daniel and Garet reminisce about Halloween traditions and their favorite villains.Villain Energy: A discussion on why being confident, assertive, and authentic can sometimes make you feel like a “villain” in others' eyes.Setting Boundaries: Insights into how people-pleasing and being overly empathetic can hold you back from living your truth.Balancing Empathy and Self-Confidence: Garet shares his journey of learning to stop disarming others and instead embracing his own power.Pop Culture Villains: From Maleficent to House of Villains, Daniel and Garet discuss why we love watching villains thrive and how that energy can inspire our real lives. ___SUPPORT THE SHOW ON PATREONJoin our Patreon! This week, our hosts embark on a campy adventure to track down a priceless artifact at gunpoint with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum in The Lost City (2022). While Madison thinks the pink jumpsuit lasted far too long in that jungle, she agrees with Chelsea's assertion that this 21st-century take on Romancing the Stone improves the "romance novelist finds herself on a romantic adventure" plot. With memorable performances from Daniel Radcliffe and Da'Vine Joy Randolph, this hilarious tale of a botched-heroic-rescue-turned-healing-journey-through-grief has our hosts in stitches while contemplating literary snobbery. #ShawnMendes Connect With Us Follow us on Instagram @loveatfirstscreening or send an email to loveatfirstscreening@gmail.com Production Hosts: Chelsea Ciccone and Madison Hill Music: Good Steph Artwork: Chelsea Ciccone Social Media: Marissa Ciccone About the Show An examination of classic tropes and iconic characters pits connoisseur against cynic—one romantic comedy at a time. The cinematic world of love and laughter had rom-com enthusiast Madison head over heels from the time Harry met Sally. For genre skeptic Chelsea, however, it's been a grueling enemies-to-lovers plot. In Love at First Screening, Madison introduces Chelsea to all the fan-favorite love stories she's never wanted to watch. One friend's passion might be the other's displeasure, but doesn't love conquer all? Tune in every Wednesday to find out.

Vicki Gunvalson had a near death experience, Housewives fans have mixed reactions and Kelly Dodd made the scary encounter all about her. Shocking, we say sarcastically. Speaking of Kelly Dodd, she had some family drama of her own which we break down and discuss. In other news, a new potential villain has emerged over in the VanderVerse as Brittany Cartwright files for divorce days after Jax exits rehab and heads for the Valley. Jax was served on air for all of us to witness when Season Two of this show returns which leaves us asking the only question that matters, what does Kristen Doute think of all of this? Jax Taylor hits paparazzi hot spot with Valley co-star Jesse Lally - who is also going through a divorce, plays victim and continues to film hoping all, we think, gets captured on camera. Finally, Vanderpump Rules the next generation plans to air as one final season of the OGs is rumored to be in the works. Truly, we cannot keep up. Welcome episode 194! It feels good to be approaching 200 episodes. Thank you for tuning in and supporting the podcast. :) On today's episode I'm digging into the #eratrend (yes, I know it started last year and Taylor Swift definitely had something to do with it) that continues to be shared on social media. I'm sharing why I love this trend and how you can use it to motivate yourself and build in some levity and fun as you work on parts of yourself. I'm exploring the concept of eras, giving examples of some of my favorites, like the Villain Era and Healing Era and discussing why naming your 'Era' can help you get more specific about your goals (and why this is important). Whether it's physical transformations, travel experiences, career achievements, or embracing single life, these eras bring color and richness to your journey. So, if you're not a social media person and don't feel like sharing your journey there, I'd love to hear about the era you're in. Remember, life consists of various chapters, and it's something to celebrate. Let the era trend serve as a prompt to prioritize what's important to you right now and garner the support needed to make it happen. REMINDER!! Ascend is open for enrollment and I am so excited to work with another amazing group of women. Get all the details at the link below and if you have questions, please send an email. On this podcast I'll be sharing about how to scale your business faster by being willing to be the villain. We all know growth requires pushing past our comfort zones, but what does that really look like in practice? I'll dive into three key areas business owners need to focus on to increase their mistake threshold, get comfortable with uncertainty, and develop thick skin. You don't want to miss my insights on how leaning into challenges can help you serve more clients and make more money. It's episode 347 and Christine has seen her own husk! We also determine Em was a blacksmith in a former life even though they don't know what a spaghetti western is. Instead they take us to Georgia for the history and hauntings of Lake Lanier. Then Christine covers Billy the Kid, the most notorious outlaw in the west (who didn't take a great tintype photo). And where are our orange slices and Capri Suns, Eva!? ...and that's why we drink!
