Watch the Podcast Video on our YouTube Channel There has been a global shift towards the sustainability effort in recent years, highlighted by various regulations and schemes aimed at businesses to help encourage a more sustainable way of operating. This has led to more focus on the voluntary use of carbon markets, in which companies help to fund decarbonisation projects by buying carbon credits. In this episode Mel is joined by Tiffany Cheung, the Corporate Engagement Lead at carbon markets data company AlliedOffsets, as they discuss the landscape of the market, including current trends, decarbonisation challenges in different sectors, and top tips for navigating the space. You'll learn ·       What impact will corporate disclosures have on the carbon markets? ·       What are the rates of decarbonisation across different sectors? ·       What are the emerging buyer trends within the voluntary carbon market? ·       What is an internal carbon price? ·       How can companies use a carbon price to ensure that their sustainability goals are financially viable? ·       How can AlliedOffsets' data help companies when entering the carbon market? ·       What are the critical steps businesses should take to mitigate price volatility and ensure that they're investing in high quality, impactful carbon offsetting projects?   Resources ·       AlliedOffsets ·       AlliedOffsets LinkedIn ·       AlliedOffsets Corporate Emissions Data and Findings ·       Carbonology   In this episode, we talk about: [00:30] Episode Summary – Tiffany Cheung joins Mel to discuss buyer trends in the voluntary carbon market (VCM), including insights on the use of internal carbon prices and top tips for businesses looking to enter the market. Don't forget to catch-up on the previous episode where Tiffany explains what the voluntary carbon market is and gives an insight into the lifecycle of carbon credits. [01:30] What impact will increased corporate disclosures have on the carbon markets? There are 2 main points: 1.      Already on the Agenda: Increased corporate sustainability disclosure may already fit into the changes that are taking place within the thinking of a company.  If a company is spending time on creating and publishing reports on their sustainability initiatives, it is likely that they will  be exploring their options for how they can take action more broadly. This is likely to be associated with increased engagement with the voluntary carbon markets, both through offsetting of carbon footprints and investing in carbon credits or project developers. 2.      Project Developer benefits: Project developers will likely benefit from increased insight to the kinds of projects that buyers are purchasing credits from. As a by-product, there may be more focused projects created based off what certain sectors are willing to offset or invest in. [02:55] What are the rates of decarbonisation across different sectors? To give a macro view from the public data available in corporate sustainability reports over the last few years, the biggest total polluters by sector continue to be energy, maritime, transportation and materials and mining. Looking at the positives, the energy sector, which has historically been the biggest polluter, has decreased its emissions in both scopes 1 and 2 since 2019. However, there's still a very long way to go, and with major emitters recently rolling back their climate commitments, one shouldn't assume that that trend will continue linearly. Another sector facing an interesting decarbonization journey is aviation, whose emissions have been increasing in recent years, although not quite to pre-COVID pandemic levels. This sector will have to grapple with its emissions whilst contending with forecasted growth in both consumer and business travel over the next decade. Many aviation companies are both committed to Science Based Targets initiatives (SBTi) and fall under CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation), applying pressure on the sector to decarbonize as a whole. On a positive note, 18 sectors assessed by AlliedOffsets have decreased their average carbon emissions in scope 2 over the past few years, due in large part to increased renewable energy sourcing and improved energy efficiency. [07:10] What are the emerging buyer trends within the VCM?: AlliedOffsets are in a particularly good position to provide insight to this due to their comprehensive view of both historic buyer activity and new market entrants across the world. Chinese and German manufacturers have become a steady presence in the market, distinguished by their especially detailed credit retirement information. They'll go as far as to specify the products and operating periods that are being offset, showing really high levels of engagement with their environmental impact and giving clear insight on their targeted offsetting approach. Another buyer trend to highlight is occurring within the Australian market, where AlliedOffsets is seeing lots of credit retirement associated with the carbon neutrality certification scheme Climate Active. This is driving most voluntary retirements from the region, particularly from real estate and pension funds. [09:15] What is an internal carbon price? An internal carbon price is a specific cost or budget set by a company for the carbon or other greenhouse gas emissions that are associated with their specific business activities. This is typically based off of something like the World Bank calculations on the cost of climate change to society, or it could be based on the price of carbon set by an compliance emissions trading scheme (ETS) that is local to that business. [10:20] How can companies use a carbon price to ensure that their sustainability goals are financially viable?: For example, EasyJet has an internal carbon price that's based off of the UK emissions trading scheme. That internal carbon price is factored into the airline's master financial models and that drives their 5 - 10 year long financial plans. That helps to determine things like the geographical routes that EasyJet operates, which can affect profitability. An internal carbon price makes emissions tangible and material, playing a role in the wider business decisions. An airline operator is considered a big emitter and is likely to already be exposed to some kind of compliance carbon scheme which has a financial impact on the company. Nonetheless, having an internal carbon price can be useful regardless of how big your business is, as it can be used to budget certain activities and see where emissions might be centralised in a particular department. An example of this in practice may be that you have an internal carbon price of £50 per tonne, you can take that to an emissions calculator or advisor to work out a budget based on the carbon footprint of different activities or departments in the business. The idea being that if you can identify the cost associated with the emissions created, you know how much to spend to decarbonize. This process may also highlight where you can make further reductions, i.e. reducing air travel and supporting staff on switching to less polluting forms of transport. [12:55] How can AlliedOffsets data help companies interested in an internal carbon price?: AlliedOffsets has data on the carbon pricing programmes used by companies to set their internal carbon price, as well as the specific price itself for hundreds of different companies. This dataset also includes companies that haven't chosen to use a particular pricing scheme but have set an internal carbon price based just off of their unique activities.  This helps to contextualize the current range of internal carbon prices and the logic behind them. [13:50] The need for regular review: Internal carbon pricing is something that needs to be reviewed on a regular basis as the costs associated with emitting in some business locations is not going to remain the same. This can also be affected by national legislation, which can increase the financial risk of emitting. Tiffany recommends reviewing your internal carbon pricing at least annually. They're seeing an emerging trend within the environmental space where sustainability related impacts within a company are being sequestered into their wider financial operations. The impacts of climate change are going to become more material to businesses in the very near future. As a result of this, it makes sense for businesses to assess their internal carbon price as part of their annual financial reviews.  [16:30] What are the critical steps businesses should take to mitigate price volatility and ensure that they're investing in high quality, impactful projects? Tiffany recommends the following steps: 1.      Focus on decarbonising your business operations first and engaging with your suppliers to tackle scope 3 emissions as well. It's more beneficial to both the business and environment for you to reduce emissions as much as possible, so you have a smaller residual footprint to offset. 2.      Decide what kind of projects / carbon credits you want to spend money on, whether it's offsetting or investing. Besides the climatic impact, there are many co-benefits of carbon projects to choose from, such as improved biodiversity, water supply, or workplace gender equality. Knowing what is valuable to you and your business will help in the selection of these projects. 3.      Build strong relationships with developers directly where possible and buy credits directly, in advance. This also has the benefit of ensuring a supply of carbon credits into the future without the worry about how the market might change or become more volatile within the next couple of years. 4.      If your business is operating at quite a significant scale, it would be wise to work with another company that's focused on the voluntary carbon market, like AlliedOffsets. They can provide guidance and forecasting for the specific projects or sectors you'd like to buy from, reducing uncertainty on the future of the market.   [20:00] Have faith in the impact of the voluntary carbon market  – The voluntary carbon market has been through a turbulent period of time, and it's alright to feel cautious about entering a space which has been unstable in the past. The concerns about reputational risk associated with offsetting have greatly reduced in the last few years, and it's set to reduce further as the voluntary and compliance markets merge and integrity improves. However, if you decide that offsetting isn't right for your business, there are still other tools that you can take from the voluntary carbon markets to help drive decarbonisation, such as internal carbon pricing. If you'd like to learn more about AlliedOffsets, visit their website! If you'd like any assistance with carbon standards, get in touch with Carbonology, they'd be happy to help! #214 An Introduction to the voluntary carbon market

Watch the Podcast Video on our YouTube Channel No business can operate with zero emissions, there's only so much you can reduce before you need to look at offsetting the remainder to truly achieve Net Zero. Carbon offsetting comes in many forms, but the ones people will be most familiar with include purchasing carbon credits for nature restoration projects and tree planting efforts. Historically, the voluntary carbon market has been troubled by project developers who haven't operated their carbon offsetting projects to the environmental and social standards expected by buyers. With the use of offsets on the rise, it's clear that there is a need for transparency and standardisation within these voluntary markets. In this episode Mel is joined by Tiffany Cheung, the Corporate Engagement Lead at AlliedOffsets, to explain what the voluntary carbon market is, how carbon credits work from purchase to retirement and what quality controls are in place to ensure they are reliable. You'll learn ●       Who are AlliedOffsets? ●       What is the voluntary carbon market? ●       What are carbon credits, and how do they work? ●       What quality controls are in place for carbon credits? ●       How will the voluntary carbon market affect future regulatory requirements? ●       What does it mean to retire a carbon credit? ●       What services do AlliedOffsets offer?   Resources ●       AlliedOffsets website ●       AlliedOffsets LinkedIn ●       Carbonology   In this episode, we talk about: [00:30] Episode Summary – Tiffany Cheung joins Mel to discuss the voluntary carbon market, explaining the carbon credit lifecycle and what quality controls are in place to ensure they are reliable. [01:40] Who are AlliedOffsets?: AlliedOffsets aggregates data from over 30 carbon registries and compliance schemes as well as off-registry transactions to present the most comprehensive dataset on carbon offsetting activity globally. Their data has been featured in publications such as the Financial Times, Forbes, The Guardian and many more. [03:20] How did Tiffany get involved in carbon markets?: Tiffany has been working with AlliedOffsets for over a year, and a lot of their role as Corporate Engagement Lead includes talking to a variety of stakeholders on the buying side of the carbon market, understanding what their motivations for being in the space are, what their strategies are going into the future and their wider decarbonisation process. Tiffany also looks at their transactional activity and how that has changed over time. Prior to their position at Allied Offsets, Tiffany worked in a major environmental advisory and brokerage firm based in London. There they gained a knowledge of both voluntary carbon markets as well as renewable energy markets in that space, this in addition to learning more about the accompanying compliance trading and risk side of things. [06:00] What is the carbon market?: Carbon markets describe markets where carbon is translated from a greenhouse gas into an asset, or a commodity that can be traded. These tend to represent actual tonnes of atmospheric carbon dioxide that have been sequestered somewhere else in the world through various projects. Compliance carbon markets work differently from voluntary carbon markets. Compliance carbon markets provide regulated ways of pricing carbon, both in terms of reducing emissions and generally making polluters aware of the environmental impact of their emissions in a financial way. They may be associated with the voluntary carbon market, also known as the VCM, or they may be referred to as a kind of carbon tax. [07:05] What's the difference between a voluntary carbon market and a non-voluntary carbon market? If you are engaging in the voluntary carbon market, there is no legislative impetus for you to be involved in it. It's mostly driven by a business' own desire to offset emissions. The offsetting of residual emissions is done through the purchase of carbon credits, which are representative of 1 tonne of CO2 equivalent removed from the atmosphere. If you offset all of your remaining emissions, then you may be able to claim carbon neutrality for the year that the credits apply to. The benefits of carbon credit-issuing projects aren't always related to solely greenhouse gas removal, and depending on a businesses motivations, you can help to fund a wide range of beneficial projects such as clean water provision or improved cook stoves which improve air quality in domestic settings. [09:25] What type of organisations are leading the way with carbon credit purchasing? – AlliedOffsets has unique access to the transaction history across 30 different global registries, enabling them to provide an up to date and wide ranging view on the voluntary carbon market. There is a very strong relationship between how polluting a sector is and how well engaged it is with the voluntary carbon markets. So major players include energy producers, aviation, maritime, ground transportation and mining and materials. There is also an increase in financial services, technology and telecommunications services entering the carbon market. Tiffany expects this trend to continue with increased data centre usage and artificial intelligence driving up energy consumption across these sectors. [11:10] How does the voluntary carbon market operate?: When a company first decides they want to buy carbon credits, ideally they would engage with a well-established broker or intermediary who can source a variety of carbon credits. It's helpful for the broker to know what sort of carbon credits or projects a company is looking to invest in. There's a lot of different options, including: ●       Forestry ●       Alternative land use ●       Blue Carbon ●       Engineered carbon dioxide removal The company will let the broker know how many tonnes of carbon credits they'd like to buy, attributed to a certain period of time or activity based on their quantification and existing carbon reporting. Market prices will range quite significantly based off of what technology type or methodology you're going with, but most carbon credits are currently sub $15. Once agreed, your intermediary will secure and retire the credits for you, from the registry and project developer. Retiring a carbon credit means they are taken entirely off the market and they're considered to be “spent” or used. Nobody else can use those as an investment or offset at that point, and the purchasing company can consider their carbon footprint to have been neutralised for the specified period. [12:00] What quality controls are in place for the voluntary carbon market? While there isn't a master registry, there are several registries across the world that generally dominate the market. They vary in terms of the methodologies that they may or may not specialise in, as well as with geographies. The biggest ones that you're most likely to see in the market are known as VCS, GS, ACR, and CAR. These account for about 80% of the total market volume by retirement and issuance. The way that these registries work is that they perform a bookkeeping function within the space. Projects will register their sequestered tonnes of CO2 removed with these registries, who will then check to see if these projects have complied with their methodology, which would have been set by a Standards Body. Once approved, those project developers can sell their credits as a commodity. When a business wants to buy credits, the type of projects they want to engage with will dictate the sort of registries they'll be engaging with. There are also checks in place set by the registries to ensure that project developers use third parties to further validate their project activities. [16:45] What are the methodologies used in the voluntary carbon market? A methodology refers to the way in which a specific project should be undertaken in order to ensure that the pace of carbon sequestration and storage is consistent throughout the project's life. Registries are ultimately responsible for issuing the appropriate methodology, and the project developers need to be able to evidence compliance to that methodology. The process for a project to be registered is quite complicated, and it generally takes 2 – 3 years from concept to being in a position to issue credits. There is also a requirement to have their work validated by a Verification and Validation Body (VVB). These are third party auditors who check the evidence provided by project developers to ensure they comply with the necessary methodology. This may include the VVBs undertaking a site visit. [19:30] Will regulatory requirements be introduced within the voluntary carbon market?  – Tiffany states that there is definitely a demand for regulatory requirements in the space. There a two key drivers for this: The need for integrity among buyers – There are many sectors where engaging in a more unregulated space can be risky. Sectors such as the legal and financial sectors need a certain level of oversight to ensure they are making sound investments. Convergence of compliance and voluntary markets – This is a change that's been happening over the past few years. This is being driven by governments taking part in the voluntary carbon market space and realising that they can yield returns for the country. Additionally, when they're spending public funds, there needs to be a certain level of assurance in the projects they're engaging with. There is also a growing appetite for businesses engaging in this market to ensure that they are doing the best thing possible ahead of the curve. There's been a lot of negative press around greenwashing projects, leading to potentially tarnished reputations, to the need for proper checks and regulation is becoming a necessity.  [22:45] What does it mean for a carbon credit to be retired? – The point at which a carbon credit is retired is when it has been taken totally out of circulation for the market. That means that no other broker, intermediary or end buyer would be able to use that credit in any kind of capacity. It's like having the receipt to say this person has purchased this product, it belongs to them now and nobody else can use it.   [24:30] How are stakeholders using the data provided by AlliedOffsets? – AlliedOffsets has a very wide data set, with an equally wide range of stakeholders. Some particularly interesting use cases include: Benchmarking against the competition – Corporate buyers use their data to compare how their activity measures up to competitors or peers within their sector due to AlliedOffsets long view of historic activity. It highlights what projects are being favoured by their competitors and what kind of price points they should be looking at as well. Project developer research - Another common use case is that project developers will want to see who is active in the market and who they should be targeting for funding. AlliedOffsets can see specific buyer activity broken down by region as well as methodology, which means project developers have a really good chance of being able to engage with buyers who are entering the space and might not have established those direct procurement relationships. Government consultation - Markets can be a huge source of income from the private sector into the public purse. For example, you might have a voluntary carbon market scheme that's associated with a compliance scheme, which can mean tax benefits for complying businesses alongside socio-environmental benefits for the country. If you'd like to learn more about AlliedOffsets, visit their website or reach out to Tiffany for more about buyer activity in the VCM! In our world, traditional business has always been linked with the wounded masculine scarcity tactics, linear growth, upward trajectories, scheduling, planning, tracking, all of these things have been focused on action, and the masculine and the feminine has always been seen as less than in today's episode I'm talking about why I built business activation Academy the magic Business School which is drenched in the divine feminine, and of course the sacred masculine in order to bring it to life. I want to emphasize this because I see so much of business that is rooted in capitalistic industrialism patriarchal values, where people start to feel very wounded, overworked, exhausted and drained very, very soon into their business. Which is why I want to create a very sustainable, feminine flowy and effortless way of building a business that isn't always necessarily easy, but gives you the tools to heal, to process to grow and expand into your highest self as you are building a enormous, wildly successful business. Let's dive in.   Tiffany Cheung  03:34 I'm your host, Tiffany Cheung your go to for all things marketing, mindset and manifestation. I grew my online business from zero to beyond six figures in eight months. My purpose is to empower women to step into the highest, most aligned versions of themselves. If you are ready to take charge of your life, learn how to design a wildly successful business and leave limiting beliefs behind you've come to the right place. You will learn the actionable tips and step by step strategies on money manifestation and social media. It's time to step into your role as boss to raise your vibration and tap into your unlimited potential today. Welcome to the social reset podcast   Tiffany Cheung  04:22 Hey, magical soul Welcome back to the social reset Podcast. Today I really want to share with you my thoughts on why I believe manifestation and both the understanding of it and the active application of it while building a business is so important and is how I built my business. And I want to talk about some of the traditional ways of building a business through wounded masculine, overly wounded masculine tactics and structures right which is really what the masculine is and the floatiness of business and really creating a union with both of them. and how both feminine and masculine energies as well as the understanding of manifestation is so vital. And really how all of this intertwined in me channeling the birth of business activation Academy. So when I first started my business, it was a very all of it was very new to me, I wasn't following coaches for a long time. And then I started my business like, I didn't really know much about the coaching world at all. To be honest, I didn't follow any other coaches. For those of you who may have been following me for a while, or you've heard other podcast episodes on this, I actually started out as a content creator. So what I was, was an influencer working with brands, getting monetized for paid partnerships, which I don't really do anymore. Because I really want to focus on my coaching business, right. But that was the way that I would grow my audience. And it was very much like speaking to the masses, influencing mostly women were my audience. So still, you know, building up a really strong community of women, but with different intents and purposes. So when I became a coach, when I started my own business, I never started a business before I actually, you know, I didn't think it was something that was on my radar, I was constantly bombarded with, like, how am I going to get a good paying job? How am I going to make my way into corporate, all of those things, right. And it's not too uncommon, if you are a child of immigrants, right, you go to school, you're expected to get a good paying job, you know, while you're finishing up school, or quickly after. So that's kind of what my mind was, was on. And that was, you know, really what my reality looked like. And so, up until that point, I was exposed to the more masculine traditional way of doing business, and especially for my dad, who climbed the corporate ladder, and he's now very successful, he's made partner in his company, and he is very smart, very intelligent, I really look up to him. And, you know, through not necessarily fault of his own, he has had to, you know, step into more of the masculine and sometimes the wounded masculine, even though I feel like he has a lot of very, very strong understanding of feminine energy, and manifestation. But just through the way that I hear him talk about, you know, things like productivity, and, you know, just what we understand in society, in terms of our salary and our jobs being tied to our worth, especially for men that are really expected to be like that sole provider of the family, you know, like, I saw a lot of that in him where he would tie a lot of either his worth or identity into his work. And so, for me, a wanting to build a business that was, of course, my own, right, like, I am very different than, you know, my dad and like different role models that I've had, and I'm very eccentric, and, you know, I kind of do things my own way, like breaking the rules. And so I really want to talk on why I believe the feminine and manifestation have been left out of business building, and entrepreneurship for pretty much the entire time it's been alive, and how I truly believe that blending both masculine and feminine and using manifestation actively in your business is what creates a successful business, what I mean by that and how to actually apply that into your business right away. So I want to start by talking about why energetic energy and the feminine hand manifestation have not been taught together with a business building. Why has energetic alignment not been mentioned? So a lot of entrepreneurship, like I just mentioned, is rooted in industrialism and capitalism. So   Tiffany Cheung  09:12 when I talk about industrialism, it's particularly we're talking about assembly lines, we're talking about when cars were first being made, and we're trading labor, human labor for the amount of money that you would make based on how much you're producing per hour, right? Because there was no such thing as the internet. There's no such thing as you know, creating lifelong content or passive income or anything like that, when we were just within that industrial revolution and time. That is how money was created. So More time equals more money, and then more money would allow you to have more things more higher status. It's just been attributed to a more powerful Positive, you know, version of who you are, were like people who are seen as having money were seen as people that you can trust and are good. And people who are don't have that much money. Like there's something they did wrong, right. That's typically how our society has approached it. Even though there are so many systemic issues with this, like the, like the situation where black people were not able to rent and own property, or not able to essentially own their own things. And so I could really go on and on about this, you can do your own research, and really dive into more of the history of this, if you want to learn more. But that's what I mean by industrialism. And then capitalism is that greed for wealth and fast, you know, turn over effective, like things like fast fashion, right, getting things out the door, quickly. Tons and tons and tons of money and more like capitalistic holidays, where you're literally just buying things for the sake of buying things. And a lot of that is, you know, white capitalism. And a lot of it's that focus on gain and action, power, wealth, all of those things together. And so this is why we see, you know, corporate marketing and widespread marketing. So when you're thinking about capitalism, you're not thinking about something like a coaching business, you're thinking about things products, like Coca Cola, and how at the end of the month, at the end of the year, right, they are gathering data within just numbers versus connection and intimacy and, you know, creating a bond within client and coach, etc. Another reason why energetic alignment has not been taught with business building is we live in a what I like to call a microwave society talked about this a lot in terms of microwave versus slow cooker, we want results, and we want them instantaneously. So in a world where we can have food, and sex and you know, a ride delivered to us within minutes. There is this need for things to happen faster, where the microwave itself is not even fast enough, right, we want results, and we want them instantaneously. We want to know the ROI. We want to know all of these things very cut and dry, and alignment, embodiment and cycles within business, it takes time, it takes patience, it can't be taught with a strict mold, or some type of cookie cutter approach that is just going to turn out results for you instantaneously. It doesn't work like that, especially if you are connecting, co creating and birthing creation with the spirit of your business. The spirit of your business is not an ATM machine that you feed and then results come out right away when you just press a button. It just It doesn't work like that. And when you do operate in that state, it's called the very wounded toxic hustle, where you're forcing your business to churn out results in either an unethical or very problematic, or even just a wet in a way that you're overworking and driving yourself into the ground, which is not healthy for anybody. This is when desperation, lack and scarcity tactics start coming into play, you start using words like agitating pain points, and making people feel guilty and shameful for who they are and serving up your product   Tiffany Cheung  13:45 as the only way that's going to fix and rescue them. Right is a very different approach and energy, then there is no hierarchy with your coach your clients that you give them the power, you speak to their highest self, and they make a decision where they are a 10 out of 10 Fuck yes client or they're excited to work with you and excited to pay you. That is a much different energetic chord that's being created because you create chords with everybody that you meet in your lifetime, especially with somebody that you work with as closely like clients. When you create a chord, a bond that is rooted in codependency and manipulation tactics, it starts to drain you. That's just one chord. Imagine if you're working with 20 clients, that's 20 cords of people that are dependent on you that you feel like you need to respond to at all hours of the day that you can't take a break from. It's never enough because you've set it up in a way where there is a hierarchy where you are higher or you're more in power or whatever it is that you're thinking that you need to save and rescue them. So then it creates and attracts the frequency and the energy of all of these people. Who are then in desperation, and are expecting you to save them. Versus when you come from a place where there's no hierarchy and you attract your highest clients. They're responsible for their transformation. They're the ones that are committed. They're the ones who are resourceful. If you don't offer in between support between calls, their self coaching themselves, they're figuring out the answers. And they're going after their own revolution, their own, glow up, right. It's very, very different.   Tiffany Cheung  15:30 And I also want to talk about colonialism. So there was a time here's some years and years ago, when sacred indigenous communities were called barbaric for simply loving the Earth using holistic practices to live literally living off of the earth. And loving one another, the medicine woman was revered, and witches were wise healers, right, they might not call themselves witches, they might call themselves different types of names, or not anything at all. But what we see now as what we've turned the witch into, thanks to, you know, traditional Christianity and the patriarchy, we've been taught to fear, witches, and even that word itself. And because of the patriarchy, women are deemed as inferior and soon arrived, the world of high performing productivity based data driven, quote, unquote, professional business that was made by men for men, with men in power and women and the feminine seen as less than things like manifestation and waiting and honoring cycles, anything that isn't that upward trajectory of linear growth, that's like, the next month needs to be better than the month before. And the month after that needs to be better than that month, right? Like, it's this expectation for your business to perform like a racehorse on steroids is extremely unhealthy. And it creates a very unhealthy bond where it is just never ever enough. Because you are not creating those emotions and being tuned in and tapped in listening to your intuition, and channeling your ideas and your content and your next steps, you are just forcing things to happen in a way that maybe they're not meant to happen. And so when when the feminine is brought up, connecting to your intuition, meditation, prayer, really sitting and soaking that up for a lot of the time for most of society that's seen as less than and being connected to your emotions is still seen as less than like, we have seen through the past couple of elections, that as a society, we have decided that women just don't make good leaders. Right, we've never had a woman president now thankfully, we have a woman vice president, but look at just how little women there are in these positions of power. I I've seen more but it's still not enough for way too long men have been the only ones in power and in these positions, where decisions are made and women and their them looking to collaboration and being in touch with their emotions. And having these natural cycles have been seen as less than another reason why energetic alignment has not been taught within business is we're taught to trust facts and not feelings. And so from a young age, we are here trying to look for evidence, look for data, look for things that are logical, right? Look for things that are supposed to make sense. And so when it comes to manifestation and including that within business, it it's not something that you can guarantee it's not something that you can even expect how the outcome is going to look because let's let's look at this for example, like you want to, let's say you want to manifest a $10,000 month, okay? And you think it can only come from one source of outcome because that's maybe the main way that you make money maybe that's your day job. And that is where you get your primary source of income from is from paychecks from your day job right? When you open up yourself and release the how and you're just like you know what, I am going to open myself up to $10,000 Maybe some of it does come from your paycheck because you know that that's something that might be coming but even that is not guaranteed a lot of people think oh my safe and steady place is with my day job but that is not guaranteed like you could be let go in a week your company something can happen to the company and it could be let go right like this is not to induce fear in anybody. Like the last thing that I want to create, but I want to talk realistically where I actually feel like my business and creating my own business and manifesting my own results is more secure than betting my entire life on a day job where I really don't know like the turnover can be so quick like employees Literally pass away. And before they even have a funeral, the company is putting a job description up on Indeed, right, we see this happen all of the time, which is why I'm really, really passionate, obviously, about people creating their own financial independence. And being able to not only that, but create those feelings of security, even before the money is there in order to call it in, in even greater amounts. So, using that example of a $10,000 month, right, some of the money may come from this paycheck. But when you're open, you're opening yourself up and you are becoming a free, you're becoming an energetic match. For the $10,000, you might get a check in the mail, right? It might be from a relative, or maybe it can, it came from,   Tiffany Cheung  20:53 I don't know, like maybe there was a settlement or something with a previous job where you ended up getting paid out for some reason, or it's like a commission check from something that you did, or maybe someone was gifting you this money, and it was the exact money that you're manifesting. Or there's just so like, the example I want to give is that there are so many ways that you can attract money, and that you can show up and be an energetic match for money. That doesn't just come in one way. Right? Sometimes we think that our perfect dream romantic partner looks a certain way and acts a certain way. And they definitely might, but there can be some things that you haven't thought of that the universe is like, Oh, this is gonna be an incredible match for you that you haven't even thought of yet. And when you meet that person, and you bond in, in real life, you're like, Wow, this isn't the person I would necessarily go for. But I feel this undeniable attraction and chemistry with them. Right. So sometimes when you release the how, and maybe it's like where you met, right, you think you're gonna meet someone at a bar, or at your office, or in a, like a singles meetup or at the beach or in the grocery aisle, but it happens in the most random way of like a blind date, or like a mutual friend, or, you know, whatever it is, there's just limitless possibilities. And so I just want to remind you that there are so many ways that when you release the how, so many ways that the universe can provide for exactly what you need. And this is exactly the type of thing that I teach my students inside business activation Academy is that sometimes we get really, really stuck on, okay, I'm only able to make, you know, I'm only able to attract clients in this one way, if I show up this one way and use this one platform. And what I want them to think about is thinking outside the box in a much grander scale of like, you have no idea who is mentioning your name and consuming your content, but not liking or messaging or letting you know, and, and they can be telling a friend or family member, someone that really needs your services. And this person that you didn't think that you knew, but is in one of the circles of someone that does know you can book a call with you literally the next day, and pay your $1,000 one on one coaching package feed. And things like that happen all the time. And it's how I manifested my business to six figures. Within the first eight months of my business. When I started in April of 2020. I had no idea how I was going to make six figures, I had no idea what even services I was going to offer. I just started with one on one coaching. And I really let that take its course. And the clients that ended up finding me some of them I had never spoken to before I had no idea who they were. Some of them had been following me for months. And some of them had found me a couple of days before and then booked a discovery call with me and was like, wow, I don't even remember how I found you. But we're just such an energetic match. So when you're open to those types of opportunities, rather than being really focused on the data, and the linear projections, and all of these things that are so expectance within traditional business building, I'm not saying throw out all of that out the door. That's definitely not what I'm saying the feminine needs the masculine, right, the flow needs, the structure, and the intuition, and the downloads of ideas need the movement and the action in order to bring it to life. So we need the masculine just not the wounded masculine of manipulation and scarcity and following these rules that we think we need to follow in business. And the reason that I built business activation Academy is because I wanted to create a powerful magical business school where all of my students are actively using manifestation in their business to manifest what it is that they're creating. Eating. And when I use the word manifest, this word has been thrown around so often that I think it's lost some of its meaning. So what it means to me personally, and the way that I approach it within business activation Academy with my students is manifestation is identifying the lifestyle and the goals that you want to have in your life, then understanding why, and then becoming an energetic match for it. When I say becoming an energetic match, I use that word because it makes the most sense to me. But it's not just fluffy language, it means releasing anything that does not align with the life you want to live, literally becoming a match for it is releasing and letting go of, and truly kind of pruning and priming yourself in order to receive this ultimate manifestation in your life. This to me also includes subconscious reprogramming, your subconscious mind was growing from the years of zero to seven years old. And since then a lot of the patterns within your life and the way that you make decisions come from your subconscious brain, your decisions, some of them are already made before they are within your frontal lobe. But I'm not a scientist or neurologist, I'm just what I know and what I've studied. So I might not get all of the exact terminology correct. But I have it all, of course, broken down within my course. I'm just recording this podcast on the fly cuz I'm channeling it. So I just want you to know that a lot of this subconscious information is what is running your life and your decisions and the things that you say yes to the things that you say no to based on what you are afraid of based on what you want to avoid, like getting out of your comfort zone, doing something that feels really scary, because your brain is like, no, no,   Tiffany Cheung  26:57 that's too much danger. That's too much risk. I'm working to get hurt. No, let's not do that. Right, we all experienced this because we're human and manifestation and my coaching is not eradicating that it's not really getting rid of that completely. It's training your brain in order to take some of those scary steps in order to create the life that you want. Because in reality, the life that you desire is obviously not the one that you have now, because it might have been at one point, but clearly, it's not because you are working towards something that you don't currently have. And so when you're doing that, you have to do new things, you have to take new actions, if you're taking the same actions over and over again, that is you just staying in the same place, right, nothing's gonna change. So in order to get closer to that dream life that you truly desire, whether that is buying your dream house on the beach, or meeting your dream partner falling in love getting married, starting your dream business, these are all things that you don't currently have. And so because of that, you have to take new actions, you have to do something different. And when that comes up, when it comes to investing in a coke course, or a coach, it's your brain is like, Oh my God, that's so much money. What's happening? What   Tiffany Cheung  28:14 am I doing? Right? It's very on alert, because it's something you've never done before. It doesn't mean that it's the wrong thing. And so that's what I'm talking about in terms of manifestation is subconscious reprogramming. And then what I also love to incorporate is your unique human design, and not just your human design, but just your unique wholeness as a human being right, the way that you may be neurodiverse, when everyone around you was very neurotypical, maybe you live with ADHD, maybe you are on the spectrum of autism, maybe you just think a completely different way than your friends and your family. You've always been the black sheep of the family. And you've always done things your own way. I want you to honor that in business, I want you to be proud of who you are, I want you to be proud that you were always you had your name on the chatterbox all the time in fifth grade because you couldn't stop talking and you kept squirming around in your chair because you were just so excited. You have so much life and energy, right? I want you to be proud of all of the things that make you who you are that our society has wanted to shove you into a box and make you feel like you need to be this one version of you. I want you to show up as all of the multifaceted versions of who you are all of the hats that you wear all of the ways that you show up and choose to be your authentic raw self. That's what I want you to bring into your business that I feel like is the true authenticity of alignment manifestation co creating with the spirit of your business and not being so focused on the perfect strategy. I definitely teach strategy Inside Business activation Academy because like Again, one of the universal laws is love action. Nothing happens if there is an action. But there is a lot of that weight on the feminine energy of attracting and manifestation and creating that first and then following up with aligned action. That way your action is not over action or driving yourself into the ground are really, really, really long days where you're like, Oh, God, I'm exhausted or know what I'm doing. I don't feel connected to what I'm doing, right, we want to avoid that. And so we take aligned action instead, to get you closer to your dreams, and manifesting the life you want and being open to the possibilities and releasing the how, right the how how the universe is going to get you to your dream life, we don't know all the steps. And that's a beautiful thing. Because it allows you to run fun experiments, and to really process your emotions process, that inner healing, that rigid capitalism, and colonialism and the patriarchy doesn't leave room for allowing yourself to process your emotions, to really become the highest version of you your highest self is so important. And so that's what I think makes the most sustainable foundation for building business is once you have that down, you're able to process any emotion, you're able to love yourself. At the end of the day, no matter what no matter what results you get, you don't make it mean anything about you, you are okay with making mistakes and trying and trying again and falling on your face and getting up and trying again, any successful entrepreneur will tell you that they've fallen on their face over and over and over and over again. And if they haven't, they're either lying, or they just haven't taken that many risks. And so likely, they're not as successful as they can be. But the most successful entrepreneurs have taken risks upon risks upon risks, and have fallen on their face over and over. And the most successful entrepreneurs are the ones that are okay with just making the most mistakes. And so you get to do that with business activation Academy is I create a space for you, where you trust yourself so deeply, you love yourself so deeply, you have such radical self compassion, that you are okay with taking bigger risks, because you know that whatever comes up for you is a win win. Either you get the result that you want, or an obstacle arises where you learn a lesson. And you utilize that to make yourself even stronger. It's like Pac Man, when pac man eats the little ghosts gotta haven't played this game and so long, it makes him more powerful, right? It's like, you grow and you become like this big Pac Man. And so for you, it's like, you're able to take that on, transform that energy and allow it to push you forward into a more powerful state. And I've created a safe space for my new entrepreneurs Inside Business activation Academy, to create that trial and error, where they have a coach like me, that connects them back to their intuition and their radical self love. So they can try again and try again. And when they do that, they create the most incredible results. They create the dream life that they want to live. And they're able to process the emotions and the healing and all of the responses that come up in between those moments, because it isn't an easy linear road. It is a bumpy, wavy road. And when you're able to regulate your nervous system, and to utilize and understand manifestation and do that thought work that belief work and really holding on to the process, trusting and owning your magic every single step of the way. You are literally unstoppable. I teach my students to change their thoughts align their energies, rather than changing the circumstances. Right. Sometimes there are cases where you might want to change the circumstance. But for the most part, it's not super easy to change our circumstances. Tiffany Cheung  28:14 What am I doing? But we can change our thoughts and our behaviors and how we feel about it in order to create the life we want to live. So if this sparks something within you and you want to dive deeper into this work, I invite you to join us inside business activation Academy, the first ever magic business school where you come in, I teach you to own and hone your magic your secret sauce, the first thing that you come face to face with you learn to build a relationship with it and the spirit of your business. Design a coaching offer a simple coaching offer to get you started with one on one clients, and then starting to work with your beta clients, attracting the most aligned clients and building your business. The way that I teach it is very simple. It's very effective. It's very effortless, and it creates a very powerful system. Sustainable foundation for you to build your business into six figures and beyond. And not only do you have access to lifetime access to the online modules, we're jumping on weekly live calls together every single Wednesday at 4:30pm, Pacific 730. Eastern, and it's always a blast. And even if sometimes you're not raising your hand in the Zoom call because you don't want to get coached, a lot of my students just come on because they want to hear other people get coached and apply that coaching to them as well. And you also get access to the private Facebook group where you can ask for coaching 24/7 And I'm always in there coaching my clients and cheering you all on with celebrations and breakthroughs and whatever it is that you need. Eczema seems like a rite-of-passage these days. A quick scroll through any mom's group on Facebook and you'll see questions come up regularly - with hundreds of suggestions for support. One thing I learned early on as I started to dive into root cause healthcare is that eczema is often more than just a skin condition. As Dr. Cheung puts it in this episode, “it's an outward expression of an internal imbalance.”If you or your child is suffering with eczema, it might seem like nothing works. But that's because it is a complex condition that has many different causes depending on the person!I want to give you a foundation to understand eczema, the myths and misconceptions, and how to truly fix it - beyond band aid solutions like creams. And so for this conversation, I'm bringing on Dr. Tiffany Cheung to the show, a naturopathic doctor who specializes in eczema. In this episode, we cover:What is eczema & what causes itWhat are some of the biggest misconceptions about eczema? How can people go about fixing itSteroid creams: Do they work and are they safe? Are vaseline and oat baths recommended?Tiffany is a naturopathic doctor in Ontario and is the founder of the Erase Your Eczema System. As someone who experienced eczema as a child and adult, she created the Erase Your Eczema System to help women, mothers + children take control of their eczema naturally without steroids. In just eight months, Tiffany started her career as a Social Media Coach, helping others to have clients instead of followers.Highlights:After losing her job, Tiffany was afraid to lose her house as well. During an interview, she talked about an Instagram Master Class where she taught people how to monetize their social network, someone told her: instead of putting that much effort and energy into a new job, put them into your own project. There isn't just one way to succeed. For Tiffany, starting her own business meant breaking the more traditional concepts about what and how a business should be, or what you should do. Start thinking about what's possible! Tiffany believes that if you only look at your actual situation, it is easy to get stuck. But when you look around you, to what other people have done, you will see another way, other possibilities. Today I'm speaking with Tiffany Cheung who is a Social Media Business Coach. She empowers women coaches to step into their role as BOSS, create converting content on Instagram through a killer strategy and mindset work to book more paid clients and scale their businesses.    I want to tell you straight up right here...you are going to LOVE this episode! Tiffany got laid off earlier this year because, well you know, COVID, and she used it as a jumping off point to start her own social media coaching business. She thought, what better time to make my own money then when I can't get paid working for someone else?!   She knew there was something more to life than working for someone else but she was always too afraid to take the leap until...she was forced to by being laid off.    At first - it wasn't easy. There is informational OVERLOAD out there on the internet as you guys know very well and it's so hard to know who to trust, what strategies to implement and what steps to take to get started.    So Tiffany did what all wise new entrepreneurs do...she hired a coach who had been there, done that. And in just 8 months - she's hit $100,000 in her business. BOOM mic drop people!   I didn't hit 6-figures until my first 18 months. On this interview we discuss Tiffany's secret for HOW she did this so fast. You don't want to miss it, she gives us a special sneak peek into the coaching she gives her clients on this episode.    We touch on many things in this interview from building an engaged audience, to creating content that converts, to the importance of vulnerability and authenticity, Tiffany's “Give, Give, Give, Ask” formula. We also talk about Tiffany's upbringing as a daughter of immigrants and how she had to overcome many deeply ingrained limiting stories and beliefs around money and work.    We even get into how we set up our schedules and how time-blocking is KING for both of us.    You don't want to miss this interview so buckle in and keep this party going!   Oh but before we dive into this interview I want to let you all know that right now we're opening up a special new opportunity for new and aspiring coaches who want to create soul aligned coaching businesses and land paid client by the end of the year. This isn't the same as our Path to Freedom Coach Accelerator, it's something new and we're offering it at a discount for our founding members to it. SO if that sounds like something you want to do - email me at Ali@punchdrunksoul.com with “CLIENTS” in the subject line and we will send you more details. Especially if you KNOW you need accountability - THIS is a perfect opportunity for you.   Ok let's get into this interview! Be sure to let us know if you're listening by posting a screenshot of this episode and tagging us on instagram, Tiffany is @tiffanycheung.co and I'm at @punchdrunksoul and let us know what you think of this interview!   Aha Moments:   How to create boundaries for yourself on social media while still growing your business Overcoming the limiting stories about work and money to have success How Tiffany used Instagram to hit 6-figures in her first 8 months in business What content to share and what content to keep for your clients Why vulnerability is KEY to sales on social media The Give, Give, Give, Ask Formula Why the most successful entrepreneurs create & fail fast to grow   Links Follow Tiffany on Instagram @tiffanycheung.co Check out Tiffany's website www.tiffanycheung.co  If you're interested in learning more about Path To Freedom Coach Academy check it out here

Plus iTunes tells me that podcast reviews are really important and the more reviews the podcast has the easier it will be to get the podcast in front of more people, which is the ultimate goal. You can leave a review right here.   Let's Keep The Conversation Going… Were you impacted by the lockdown? Do you have a Plan B or any creative ways to generate income? I would love to hear all about it and I'm sure others would too. Comment below and share your story or visit me on Instagram which is currently my favourite way to connect.  You can also join my free online community to connect with more than 16,000 other health practitioners just like you to ask questions, share wins and struggles and get lots of support from me and my team! I hope to see you there.
