Lecrae is a Two-time GRAMMY winning hip-hop artist and bestselling author. Lecrae has inspired millions with his redemptive and gut-honest art. But when his personal life spun into chaos, he was forced to face the buried impact of the unhealed wounds--sexual abuse, physical trauma, addiction, and depression--that threatened to tear it all apart. Along the way, he realized the wounds we all carry have the potential to be unlikely guides to healing and freedom for ourselves, and others. With vulnerable honesty and transformational yet simple steps you can apply today, Lecrae shares the personal practices he uses in his daily life for mental, emotional, and spiritual health. With powerful prose, he gives an unflinching look at the personal and public spaces that sadly hurt us so often--culture, politics, family, church, personal failure--and reminds us that learning to let go and forgive is the birthplace for the life of creativity and freedom God has for us. I Am Restored is an inspiring charge to embrace the lasting healing and restoration available now, and that we all desperately long for, because no matter what you've experienced, God is near, He hears, and He's not done with you yet. Over the next four years, threemore exquisitely decorated urns were added seemingly robbing her of the love, hopes and dreams of a mother’s heart. This confounding suffering initiated a complete life reboot. She left a lucrative position with a HR software company and started a new career in social services. In her first community-based position, Leah managed a 5-million-dollar, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ teen health initiative. Leah trained in-house and site facilitators and served over 5 thousand students and their families. In 2015 Leah’s commitment to meet the needs of under-served, marginalized groups prompted her to launch Signature Presenters, LLC (SP). SP provides employability skills and workforce management tools through consulting, strategic planning, training, and plan evaluation. Leah graduated with honors from Rutgers University with a degree in sociology and biology and then attended Nova Southeastern University for her master’s work in Public Health, with a concentration in public policy and community engagement. Plato stated, “All learning has an emotional base.” In the same vein, Leah believes that all pertinent skills of personal and professional development are rooted in emotional intelligence and incorporates the skill set in every engagement. Leah currently offers free, monthly webinars to educate, advocate and provide online spaces of healing and inspiration. She is most grateful for God’s unfailing love and the local church where she has faithfully and enthusiastically served through teaching, worship, intercessory prayer, children’s and women’s ministries, community outreach and benevolence. In this episode, Ekemini and Christina are joined by Chris-Tia Donaldson, CEO and Founder of Thank God It’s Natural (tgin). Chris-Tia Donaldson is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Thank God It’s Natural (tgin), a manufacturer of natural hair and skin care products, currently sold in Walmart, Target, Whole Foods, Sally’s Beauty, and Walgreen’s. In her role, she oversees all aspects of day-to-day operations, sales, and strategic partnerships. Chris-Tia has been featured in major media publications such as USA Today, Marie Claire, Essence, Black Enterprise, Ebony, Heart & Soul, and the Chicago Tribune. Her book Thank God I’m Natural: The Ultimate Guide to Caring for Natural Hair is a #1 Amazon bestseller, and was hailed the “Natural Hair Bible” by Essence Magazine. Prior to starting her own company, Chris-Tia represented Fortune 500 companies in complex business transactions involving technology and open source code. Chris-Tia earned her A.B. in Economics from Harvard University with high honors, and is a graduate of Harvard Law School. In 2015, Chris-Tia was diagnosed with breast cancer. During her treatment, she learned that having money could make the difference between living and dying when it came to treating this condition. In her observation, few organizations existed that provided support and social services to help women with transportation, childcare, parking, or seeking disability leave from their place of employment. Today, she uses her success in the beauty space to advocate for women experiencing financial difficulties, who are undergoing treatment, to highlight health disparities due to race and socio-economic factors, and to empower women to listen to their bodies through the tgin Foundation. Chris-Tia just recently released her second book called This is Only a Test: What Breast Cancer Taught me about Faith, Love, Hair and Business.
