POPULARITY
It's that time again. Our little longtime listeners know what the Juno Awards (Canada's answer to the Grammies) mean to us. At least the Metal category, being two time judges ourselves. So we're stoked for this year's nominees. Especially since four out of five are Radioactive Metal alum. So in the spirit of the Junos, we go over the list and "cast our vote" over the air. You'll find making a pick to be a Herculean task too. In our "News, Views and Tunes", we go over the "Back To The Beginning" final Ozzy gig and announce the Manitoba Metalfest. Musically, we crank Deceased, Anciients, Striker, Warpig, Steel Inferno, Pupil Slicer, Drop Off Point, Malefaction and introduce Finland's Steel Machine in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up!
WE ARE BACK! Talking about the classic film One Million Years B.C., games, pop culture, whatever else comes up!
Prehistoric Warpig! (Geek Gab, Episode 362!) by Geek Gab
This week is the sixth volume of our deep dive into the trippy and groovy beginnings of the heavy stuff! Cut your lava lamp on, gaze at that blacklight poster through the haze of smoke, and join your favorite rock n' roll grave robbers as they dig deep into the core of 70s Acid Rock n' Proto Metal crypt to unearth some obscure bands that helped influence and mold what would become known as Heavy Metal. What is it that we do here at InObscuria? Well, we exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This particular episode is planted firmly in the: LOST category, as all of these recordings occurred between 1970 – 1976. As always, our hope is that we turn you on to something new in a genre and decade that you may have thought you already knew everything there was to know.Songs this week include:El Ritual - “Mujer Facil - Prostituda” from El Ritual (1971)Fury- “Flying” from Sonny Vincent – Primitive 1969-1976 (1972)P2O5 - “All Right” from P2O5 (1976)Atomic Rooster - “Save Me” from Nice ‘N' Greasy (1973)Yesterday's Children - “Paranoia” from Yesterday's Children (1970)Warpig - “Rock Star” from Warpig (1973)Sudden Death - “My Time Is Over” from Suddenly (1972)El Ritual documentary in Spanish on YouTube from 2022 https://youtu.be/K1xz6R9nH3k?si=Gd6I90SC19ZkOLWmPlease subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/

By The Metal Godz how time flies. 2022 is off and running. Now that both your wonderful hosts have hit the Big Five - Oh, we came to the realization that there will be a variety of other significant stuff in the Metal World that will be sharing the same Bday this year. Namely, 1972. This week we take deep dive into '72 going over some key events, band formations, and new albums. It's nice to know we were at least on the Earth during this fabulous year. As well, Decibel magazine released their "Top 40 Albums of 2021" issue. So we give our two-bits about it. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we crank some new and used from Craven Idol, Revenant, Necrophagus, Portrayal of Guilt, Rudimentary Peni, Warpig and Maule. Horns Up and Stay Healthy! This Episode is sponsored by Trve Kvlt Coffee. Summon the coffee demons to possess yourself a cup today! Follow us on Twitter and Instagram.
Our heroes borrow some very loyal warpigs from the Dwarves, while our smallest member battles some internal demons.
Episode Track List: Intro (:33) Corpus Christi: Diamonds to Dust (3:09) Good People: Mugshot feat. Peter Rono (9:57) Eternal Change: Nothing Noble (16:47) Agenda: Akkadian (22:53) Silence (In the Place Where Heaven Should Be Found): Monasteries (31:15) Outro (35:29) Synopsis: Welcome to Episode Three of Brewtal Bands To Watch For RECAP April 2021. We've been fortunate enough to have so many sick bands thus far in Brewtal's lifespan support the show and we wanted to make sure they got one more episode of airtime! Each month either Todd or Arie will recap the songs that were featured on Brewtal, give a little more insight into the track, and let you hopwolves do the beer sippin and head bangin! Don't forget that you can crank these jams, and future ones, up anytime on our Bands To Watch For Playlist! Band Bios: Diamonds to Dust (E15) The Power of Beer Compels you feat. Diamonds to Dust | Independence Brewing Co's Power and Light and Indiana City Brewing Co's Bramble Fruit Craft Beer Reviews Diamonds to Dust is a 5 piece Christian Metalcore/Deathcore band consisting of Barry Hogue, Melvin Hogue, Christian Roche, Brandon Whitaker and Brandon Zablocki. Our goal is to spread our faith in God as well as our different experiences to anyone who will listen. We are currently working on or self-titled album. Bandcamp | Apple Music | Spotify | YouTube Music | YouTube | Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | TikTok - Mugshot (E16) Don't Call It A Throwback feat. Mugshot | Cacti Agave Spiked Seltzer and Altered Genius Brewing Co's Winter Winds Craft Beer Reviews Mugshot started as a band in 2015 when we met our guitarist Michael. Our vocalist Eli and our drummer/producer Connor had been friends/band mates for years before this, but Michael was responsible for creating what Mugshot would eventually become. We released our debut album Dull Boy in 2016 and have been touring consistently every since then. Empty Heaven is our first album release in 4 years so we’re really excited for people to hear it. Our music has always been about standing up against discrimination and bigotry, as well fighting mental illness and making sure that everyone knows that that there is someone out there that knows how you feel. Merch | Bandcamp | Apple Music | Spotify | YouTube Music | YouTube | Facebook | Instagram | Twitter - Nothing Noble (E17) Corridor of Covers feat. Nothing Noble | Oskar Blues Brewery's Dale's Pale Ale and Equilibrium Brewing's Energy Equals Craft Beer Reviews Copenhagen-based progressive metalcore outfit NOTHING NOBLE provide neck-breaking, bouncy grooves that grow ever heavier and darker with every frustrated yell and growl from the gut of vocalist Cornelius Qvist. The quartet is now, after 3 years of intense writing, ready to release their unrelenting sophomore album "Modern Dismay". "Modern Dismay" is an exhibition of excessively groovy and deliciously dissonant, disgusting and catchy choruses, added guest performances by prominent vocalists from the international metal scene (COUNTERPARTS, END, MØL). The album is to be released on August 6th through Prime Collective. Merch | Bandcamp | Apple Music | Spotify | YouTube Music | YouTube | Facebook | Instagram - Akkadian (E18) Bock From The Grave feat. Akkadian | Twisted X Brewing Co's Kreische Bluff Bock and Warpig's Foggy Geezer IPA Craft Beer Reviews Named after the ancient Mesopotamian Empire, ”Akkadian” are a five piece metal band from Cambridge, UK, who bring fast, hard hitting, groovy songs, with a psychedelic undertone. Akkadian expresses a deep interest in ancient history, from the Sumerians to the Egyptians, with a dash of inter-dimensional travel. These elements are then woven into the branding, theme and story telling of their songs. Akkadian’s goal is to create a dynamic portfolio of music, as well as a new culture within the metal genre. The band currently have three singles released: “BLACK SAND”, “EMANATION”, and recently "AGENDA", which you can download and stream on all major platforms. Bandcamp | Apple Music | Spotify | YouTube Music | YouTube | Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | TikTok | Website - Monasteries (E19) Everything Comes From Silence feat. Monasteries | Karbach Brewing Co's Strawberry Fields and RAR Brewing's Nanticoke Nectar Craft Beer Reviews Monasteries are a Technical Deathcore band from Wolverhampton, England. We like writing ridiculous riffs and creating songs that are chaotic but still super fun to listen to. We tend to try and experiment as much as possible within one track, whilst also making it "make sense". The EP is totally filled with this, and our next releases are going to be even more chaotic, but we're super happy with Silence as our latest landmark in the Monasteries timeline, and if you're into metal, we can guarantee there's something in our tracks for you. Speaking of brews, Arie gathers masses of war pigs while Todd raises the flag for a historical Texas Hill Country classic. In the metal world, we cover new tours, album updates and artists creating change in the world!
