Play Episode Listen Later May 7, 2025 5:41

You'll hear from Lithuanian rockers Katarsis about how they're bringing the energy to perform "Tavo Akys", catch up with Ziferblat on their first trip out of Ukraine in years, and James interviews his own country's act - Remember Monday. There's even one of the most unhinged interviews we've ever had on Wrap-Up, as Tommy Cash brings pure chaos to the show as he chats about Espresso Macchiato! We kick off our 2025 Eurovision Review Season with #EurovisionSky poster Ted Van Houten to discuss the entries from Albania, Slovenia, Belgium, Ukraine, and Poland. About Ted Ted is a transportation planner in Washington, DC. As someone who loves European geopolitics, obscure pop music, and being a homosexual, Ted was destined to be a Eurovision fan as soon as he found out about it. Other than Eurovision, Ted enjoys trivia competitions (both online and at his local bar), tennis, reality television, and making puns on Bluesky that get less likes than he wishes they would. Alright. Hope you're well. Nice one for getting onto this episode of the podcast. It's episode 54 and it's a beautiful chat with Bill Ryder-Jones. Bill is a musician from down the East Lancs road and if you've not already listened to his stuff then you're missing out. We'd recommend starting with with 'if...' which is an absolute masterpiece of jaw-dropping scale. 'West Kirby County Primary' is absolute class too. And have a look at his new video Mither here -  Basically, listen to it all. It's all boss. Bill is a true artist and a properly fascinating person. He talks with Craig about creativity, mental states, loss, friendship and loads more. It was an absolute privilege to listen in on it and we hope that you get as much from it as we have. If you do, it'll stay with you.We recorded this one in Manchester at the lovely Ziferblat on Edge Street in the Noirthern Quarter (Nice one to Ziferblat for being ace and finding us a room).  Get in touch... Former Apprentice contestant Michaela Wain and journalist Chris Hemmings help us figure out if women can break into boys clubs – those industries where men favour each other for jobs and create an atmosphere which makes it hard for women to get ahead.Michaela runs several businesses in the construction industry, which is also very male, and her assertive drive and ability to crack on and get things done inspired many people during her stint on The Apprentice. Chris has written about macho culture and his experiences in the Rugby Club while at university in his book ‘Be a Man'. He reports on masculinity and how it's changing and what needs to be done to create healthier male cultures.Host and producer: Nas aka Nastaran Tavakoli-FarCo-host: Jonathan FreemanGuests: Michaela Wain, entrepreneur, contestant on The Apprentice https://twitter.com/Michaelawain1Chris Hemmings, Journalist, author of ‘Be A Man' https://twitter.com/hemmchLive show sponsor: The Balvenie https://www.thebalvenie.com/ and Piper Heidsieck https://www.piper-heidsieck.com/Co-producers: Sam Baker and Jonathan BlackwellBusiness development: Cynara VetchLive show sound engineer: Richard AndrewsLive show venue: Ziferblat http://london.ziferblat.net/Related links: The Gender Knot podcast and Facebook Grouphttps://www.thegenderknot.com/https://www.facebook.com/groups/182851532302085/Music: Government Funded Weed by Black Ant (used under Creative Commons)
