    Ivy Insights

The Silence The Shame podcast is an incredibly important and necessary platform for discussing mental health in our community. It provides a safe space for individuals to learn, share, and heal through open conversations about their struggles. Listening to this podcast feels like a release of my own burdens as I connect with the experiences of others. Even though my children are now adults, the interview with Joyce Estrada-Bailey still resonated with me and sparked conversations that I will be having with them. I am grateful for the courage that this podcast has given me to address these topics with my loved ones.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the depth and authenticity of the conversations. Shanti and Free approach mental health issues with care, compassion, and honesty. They tackle a range of topics related to mental well-being, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and therapy. The guests they bring on provide diverse perspectives and valuable insights into their own journeys with mental health. By sharing their stories, they create relatable content that can help individuals feel less alone and more understood.

Another great aspect of this podcast is its ability to educate listeners about mental health. The discussions go beyond personal experiences to explore various therapeutic techniques, coping strategies, and resources available for seeking help. This educational aspect helps break down the stigma surrounding mental illness and encourages people to prioritize their mental well-being. Each episode provides valuable information that can empower individuals to take steps towards healing.

While it's challenging to find any significant drawbacks to this podcast, one small criticism could be that some episodes may not resonate as strongly with every listener. As mental health struggles can vary greatly from person to person, there might be certain episodes or topics that don't align closely with an individual's own experiences. However, this is a minor drawback that comes naturally with producing content related to such a diverse field.

In conclusion, The Silence The Shame podcast is an invaluable resource for our community when it comes to mental health conversations. Shanti and Free have created a platform that fosters understanding, support, and growth. Through their genuine and compassionate approach, they are breaking down barriers and making mental health a less taboo topic. This podcast is essential for anyone seeking guidance, validation, or simply a space to learn and heal. I highly recommend subscribing and joining in on these important conversations.

On this week's episode of The Silence the Shame Podcast, our host, L.ife, sits down with Law Professor and Attorney, Mo Ivory, to discuss how she embodies the woman that she has grown to be. As we may know, woman wear many hats that require balancing time and energy. During this conversation, Mo and L.ife breaks down how women can learn to be their best selves and go after everything they desire. Some noteworthy “gems” from this episode: 1. Balance looks different everyday – increasing and decreasing where it needs to be; it shifts depending on daily needs. 2. When we are constantly comparing ourselves and our journeys to other people, we take away from who we truly are and what we can do. 3. Don't be afraid to ask for what you want. - There's a lack of confidence and vulnerability for people to ask for help but that only keeps you from elevating to the paths and positions that you desire. 4. You can't unlearn what you already know, but you can learn new things and you can utilize those new things to behave differently. Some noteworthy “gems” from this episode: 1. The strongest thing you can do is ask for help. We think asking for help is a weakness, but it takes a lot to muster up the courage to ask others to help support you. 2. Suggested Exercise: Sit with sadness – When you are feeling sad, ask yourself “what are you [sadness] here to teach me?” 3. Self-love starts with self-acceptance. You must practice being okay with everything about yourself, inside and out; that is how you increase your self-love. Both are entrepreneurs and have had to navigate the ebbs and flows of life to create their versions of success and they share their insights with the hope to show others that they are not alone. Some noteworthy “gems” from this episode: 1. While most people may think of it as weak, it takes strength to be vulnerable. 2. Life can have its challenges, but it's important to take one step forward each day. It's about progress over perfection. 3. If you are hurting, reach out to someone, anyone to talk about it.
