Book 3 of the field guide addresses the question, How do I lead all these people, anyway. They're all so different? This piece by St. Gregory addresses the challenge of leading people who trust themselves too much, and trust themselves, well, not at all. Gregory helps us understand how to help them grow beyond their current situation. St. Gregory's Summary Statement for this chapter: How the obstinate and the fickle are to be admonished.

Dinner for Shoes is a podcast hosted by Sarah Wasilak, a fashion and food enthusiast with her mouth full. With appearances by her cats, Trish and Kit, and agendas that almost always go to shit, we aim to dive into a discussion about fashion and style and break some bread in each episode. In episode 16, Obstinate Daughter + Opposite Sisters, Sarah introduces viewers to her younger sister Rachel, who resides in Charleston with her fiancée Megan (our Dinner for Shoes producer!) and their three cats, The Three Potter Paws. Together, Sarah and Rachel discuss the ways in which their styles have grown completely different through the years. They look at old photos and comment hilariously on each other's outfits, Rachel judges Sarah's high school fashion in a round of rapid fire, and they enjoy their favorite dish — Farro Piccolo from The Obstinate Daughter on Sullivan's Island in South Carolina. At the end of the episode, viewers get to meet Bellatrix Lestrange (the cat version), and Rachel shares a personal story about how she stayed true to expressing herself through her clothing while growing up. Dinner for Shoes podcast episodes are released weekly on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple. You can follow along for updates, teasers, and more on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Isaiah is a challenging book to study and even more challenging to understand. Many people avoid it because of its length, its prophetic language or its difficulty to understand without historical knowledge. These are certainly challenges, but Isaiah is too important a book NOT to read. Yes, it can be challenging, long and difficult to grasp in context, but this study will take you through that and help guide you on your way to becoming familiar with some of the most important prophecies in the Bible. This study will cover the first half of Isaiah. Because there is no cohesive narrative within Isaiah; it is a collection of prophetic words to various nations at different times; we are breaking it up in half to make it easier to digest. In this study, we will look at Isaiah chapters 1-33. From this study, you will gain the necessary historical background, insights into what has been fulfilled and what has not and all that you need to keep reading and know God's Word through the Prophet Isaiah. -----------LINKS----------Support 10WB on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/10weekbibleThe 10 Week Bible - http://www.10WeekBible.comTwitter: @DarrenHibbs - https://twitter.com/DarrenHibbsSign up for my newsletter - http://www.darrenhibbs.comGet a copy of the 10 Week Bible Study today - https://www.amazon.com/Darren-Hibbs/e/B00B4I47CE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl2&tag=darrenhcom0a-20&linkId=401f3d79974c70929517936977e32df9My other YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChUU0XHSHuhSyN8qk-7efYgSupport the show

Scott views data mesh as a mechanism for change. Your company culture and your understanding of it are crucial to establishing data mesh well, driving that buy-in. Ask yourself: what challenges does data mesh actually address and hopefully solve, how will it impact the business not the tech, and what does it change. Your organization might not be ready for data mesh. Or a specific domain might not be ready. And that's okay! As ITV moved forward, they found a "good enough" solution via a global ID. It's not perfect, there might be some overlap - such as one person might have a different global ID for their online subscription versus their broadcast subscription - but it is far better than what they were doing. And it allows for interoperability/joins across the data. This is a big improvement - don't let perfect be the enemy of good or done. One thing working for ITV is deploying a "team-in-a-box" to help domains move forward - similar to an internal consulting team. Each situation is different so each box they are given is different. The team-in-a-box concept also means it is somewhat easier to build common best practices internally. Coming to the table with defaults has really helped ITV. Per Scott, there are 3 good ways to drive buy-in for the domain teams: At the senior level - so it trickles down as the management for the team is bought in.Via a strong carrot - solve a problem for them as a kind of quid quo pro / mutually beneficial solution. Trying to solve an unrelated problem will drive lower buy-in.Work on realigning the team KPIs/OKRs with the senior leaders to actually realign incentives. Continuing on the driving buy-in, Scott recommends working with the domain managers to generate a viable/valuable carrot for the entire team. Explain to those leaders why it matters, work with the leaders to revamp the KPIs if the KPIs are getting in the way of delivering a good data product. This is why exec-level buy-in is so crucial - it is pretty hard to start modifying team KPIs/OKRs...
In this Sermon about forgiveness we look again at Luke 15, the story of the prodigal son. This story is full of wisdom, and one of the things God is trying to tell us is, that forgiveness is not a soft option. It is an obligation of grace that God has shown us. We see ourselves a certain way but the Father sees us differently. We pray you'll, not only be encouraged by this sermon about forgiveness, but that you'll resolve to forgive those who have wronged you. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for June 2, 2023 is: obstinate AHB-stuh-nut adjective Obstinate at its most basic means "stubborn." It describes people who refuse to change their behavior or ideas in spite of reason, arguments, or persuasion, and it describes things that are not easily fixed, removed, or dealt with. // The project that had been the group's main focus for weeks was temporarily stymied by one obstinate member's refusal to compromise. // The planning committee discussed ways to mitigate the obstinate problem of gentrification. See the entry > Examples: "... [Louise Bates] Ames has an uncanny way of capturing the essence of children at different developmental stages, and when you understand that it is your child's work to behave this way, that the behavior is serving growth and maturity, you are less likely to try to squash it. For instance, when you've nicely asked your 2-year-old to stop jumping on the couch and they look you in the eyes and keep jumping? It's helpful to know that this obstinate behavior is normal and is not a reason to double-down or punish your child. Instead, speak less, redirect and provide other things for your child to jump on." — Meghan Leahy, The Washington Post, 3 Aug. 2022 Did you know? English has no shortage of words to describe stubbornness, and obstinate is one you might want to latch onto. It suggests an unreasonable persistence and is often used negatively to describe someone who is unwilling to change course or to give up a belief or plan. Animals can be obstinate, too—for instance, say, a beloved pet cat that refuses to get out of your easy chair when you want to sit down. Such an example makes a lot of sense with regard to obstinate's history, too: the word traces back to a combination of the Latin prefix ob-, meaning “in the way,” and a word related to stare, meaning "to stand." But if you're adamant about describing Whiskers' stubborn behavior in more faunal terms, allow us to suggest bullheaded, dogged, or mulish.

One of the primary ways we stop the Mercy of God from entering into our lives is through obstinacy. Specifically, when we obstinately hold onto our own opinion, as a result of our pride, and therefore fail to be open to the truth, we shut the door to grace. This is a particularly dangerous sin because obstinacy, by its very definition, implies there is an unwillingness to repent and change. The obstinate person remains, day after day, year after year, closed to the grace of God. The only cure for an obstinate heart is humility before the Truth of God. Coming to God, with a sincerely open heart, ready and willing to change our convictions the moment He speaks, is the first step to being rid of this sin. Humble yourself by listening, setting aside your own firm opinion, being open and willing to change. This may be difficult at first, but you will be truly grateful you did (See Diary #560).What are you obstinate about? Is there a long-standing thought you hold against another? Is there something that you are convinced you are right on? Make sure that God feels the same way. Seek, today, to be open to change. The first step is to ask the Lord to open your eyes to see. The second step is to let yourself see this tendency within your heart.Lord, I know I am obstinate. I see it within my soul. I hold on to my will and refuse to listen to others out of pride. Give me the grace of an open mind that I may shed my stubbornness. Help me to humble myself before You and others and help me to be ready and willing to listen to Your Truth. Jesus, I trust in You. Rich Relationships Refuge is a YouTube channel and podcast that aims to help couples build healthy and fulfilling relationships. The episode focuses on the impact of Fear on relationships and how it can hinder growth and joy. When I first heard that scripture, I instantly thought about myself and how Fear affected my life. I felt like I was constantly fearful not of an accident or a tragedy but of the uncertainties of what the future may hold for me. I once heard Fear being described as an acronym for false evidence appearing real. I could instantly relate to that acronym. The essence of Fear is insecurities layered with self-doubt. It is rooted in my desire to control my life.Control of knowing that I must rely on God for my daily necessities of life. Fear handicaps growth in your marriage. One thing that attracted me to my wife was her constant state of being Joyful. This was something that I lacked in my own life because Fear had me bond by thinking of my past, that now affected my future and the future of my spouse. That lack I was experiencing originated as a young child of a broken marriage and an absentee father. When you don't have a father who is your first provider in the physical realm, it sets the stage for Fear and doubts in your heavenly father to be there when you need him. Before this, I never truly understood how my trust should not be in a person but in the one and true Living God to provide for every area of my life. The first thing that dissolves is joy; the lack of pleasure comes from the constant attention that you give to not having the things that are required for life, as the Bible speaks about in Matthew 6 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes? (v25). As an individual or a married couple, you must be willing to take the longest journey inward and be truly honest with yourself. I realized I was Closed, Obstinate, Lazy, and Dishonest. (C.O.L.D). Not from the temperature outside but neglect of my emotional health. I had allowed myself to be controlled by my old human nature versus my new life and Holy Spirit. Many years later, I realized I had allowed Fear to keep me from my spouse. Obstinate characters, poor motivation, and plot setup . . . In this duo episode, we're talking about characters. In particular, how do we handle unruly, obstinate, problematic characters who don't follow your author rules!Sometimes it all comes down to understanding their motivations and personality. Other times, it's all about staying flexible in the moment and being a good character parent: not too strict, not too lenient. Our favorite tool we use to help create our characters is the Enneagram Personality type. Mark called in to ask the doctor what he could possibly do to curtail his 73 year old mother from constantly disagreeing with him.
In Isaiah 46:1-13, Isaiah concludes his description of Israel's obstinacy in regard to God's plan to use Cyrus. But first we continue our consideration of how Isaiah 45 influenced Paul's letter to the Romans in regard to the three themes of questioning God's plan, the righteousness of God, and the salvation of all Israel.
In Isaiah 45:9-25, Israel pushes back against God's plan to raise up Cyrus, a Gentile Messiah. God responds with a rebuke and an affirmation that Israel will still play a central role in the formation of a world wide people. We will see significant connection between Isaiah 45 and Paul's letter to the Romans.
From the series "Peculiar". Romans 12:14–21, Romans 5:6-11, 1 Corinthians 13:4–7 As we continue in our "Peculiar" series recapturing the distinctives of the early Church, Pastor Ryan Smith examines what Romans called "obstinate foolishness." Though Christians were often excluded, criticized, persecuted, and even killed, they taught forgiveness, withheld retaliation, and loved their enemies. In this teaching we investigate this enemy-love, where it came from, and how we can carry it out today. Sermon Notes Here
One of the primary ways we stop the Mercy of God from entering into our lives is through obstinacy. Jesus, I trust in You.Source of content: www.divinemercy.lifeCopyright © 2022 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved. Used with permission via RSS feed.
