In this episode, Mike is joined by trainer, Nick Becht and registered dietitian, Mike Gorski to present a conversation aimed at alleviating fear and sorting out misinformation around two foods that have had some negative publicity in the past, red meat and eggs. We review the top myths and misconceptions around these highly nutritious foods and put any cholesterol and cancer fears to rest. Thanks to both of these gentlemen for their insight on this subject!Contact Nick Becht: Instagram: @nichbechtfitContact Mike Gorski (RD)Instagram: @mgfitlifeContact Mike:Mike Sinopoli - NASM Certified Nutrition CoachInstagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn: @mfswellnessemail: mike@mfswellness.comphone: 630-361-4907www.mfswellness.com
In this episode, Mike welcomes Nick Becht back on the show for a discussion on the RFK "Make America Healthy Again" initiative. We address certain points in the policy that may be lacking relevant research and also find positive efforts within the campaign. We address specific food ingredients that have some controversy around them and the validity in the concerns in consuming them. We also brainstorm ideas of how to actually make the country a healthier place not just through food, but through our culture, health care system, societal norms, advertising, and mental health.Contact Nick:Instagram: @nickbechtfitContact Mike:Mike Sinopoli - NASM Certified Nutrition CoachInstagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn: @mfswellnessemail: mike@mfswellness.comphone: 630-361-4907www.mfswellness.com

Rocco Becht, Iowa State ($7,600) – Becht is reliable as Iowa State continues to rely on the pass. Pair him with Jayden Higgins or Jaylin Noel for upside. Running BackBill Davis, ULL ($4,900) – The freshman has been productive, finding the end zone consistently. He's a great value against Marshall's porous run defense. Cam Skattebo, Arizona State ($10,300) – Skattebo's workload and versatility make him a must-play, especially with Tyson out. Iowa State's run defense struggles against explosive runners. Wide ReceiverGunnar Helm, Texas ($4,000) – Helm has delivered in big games, posting solid lines against top opponents. He's a steal at this price. Bryant Wesco Jr, Clemson ($3,400) – Wesco's role is growing, and he's primed for a breakout. His downfield ability and SMU's pass defense set him up for a strong outing. @Notevend2 talks with 2023-24 1st Team All-NE10 player, Matt Becht on this week's episode. Matt Becht attended high school in Virginia where he played for Bishop O'Connell. After a successful high career, Becht committed to Mount St. Mary's. Early in his freshman year, Matt suffered a knee injury that required surgery. That would only be the start of the adversity Matt faced during his college career; in just two years playing for the Mountaineers, Becht went through three surgeries. Matt entered the transfer portal after his second year, and would commit to Division 2, NE10 member, Southern New Hampshire University. The next three years playing for the Penman would be filled with success; in three years Becht averaged over 14 ppg in every year, and shot 45% from three in his final two years with SNHU. In 2023-24 SNHU won a NE10 championship and made a run all the way to the D2 NCAA Elite 8. With one year of eligibility left, Matt entered the transfer portal where he would hear from plenty of Power 5 and high major schools. Becht committed to Merrimack for the 2024-25 season. Merrimack competes in the MAAC conference and kicks off their season Saturday (11/9) against Vermont. Hear about his basketball journey dealing with adversity, his dominant career at SNHU, and his expectations going into his final year of college basketball. No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes (-3.5) at No. 3 Penn State Nittany Lions, Noon ET, FOX Ohio State being favored here is surprising; I expected it closer to a pick-em. Both teams are contenders but feel one step from disappointment. In a close matchup like this, taking the home team with points seems smart. Pick: Penn State +3.5 Duke Blue Devils (+20.5) at No. 5 Miami Hurricanes, Noon ET, ABC A big spread, but Duke is still Duke. Coach Manny Diaz is motivated to win, but Miami's talent gap is clear. I'll take Duke plus 20 points. Pick: Duke +20.5 No. 1 Oregon Ducks (-15.5) at Michigan Wolverines, 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS Michigan's struggles are evident, and Oregon looks title-bound. While Michigan's defense is solid, Oregon's firepower on both sides likely proves too much. Pick: Oregon -15.5 Florida Gators (+16.5) vs. No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs, 3:30 p.m. ET, ABC Florida has turned things around after a rough start and could still reach bowl eligibility. Freshman QB DJ Lagway offers high potential, but Georgia's strength will likely overpower them. Pick: Georgia -16.5 Texas Tech Red Raiders (+14.5) at No. 11 Iowa State Cyclones, 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN Could this be the year Matt Campbell makes a CFP push? Despite Iowa State's Big 12 co-favorite status, I'm skeptical of their Cinderella story and will take Texas Tech with the points. Pick: Texas Tech +14.5 No. 13 Indiana Hoosiers (-7.5) at Michigan State Spartans, 3:30 p.m. ET, Peacock Indiana is optimistic about QB Kurtis Rourke's return and will try to keep their momentum going. I think they'll pull off a win over Michigan State. Pick: Michigan State +7.5 North Carolina Tar Heels (-2.5) at Florida State Seminoles, 3:30 p.m. ET, ACCN Here's the game for those still following. Pick: Florida State +2.5 No. 10 Texas A&M Aggies (-2.5) at South Carolina Gamecocks, 7:30 p.m. ET, ABC Texas A&M's playoff path looks clear, but South Carolina's unpredictability could pose a challenge. After a rough start, A&M rallied, but South Carolina's home advantage may keep it close. Pick: South Carolina +2.5 Louisville Cardinals (+10.5) at No. 11 Clemson Tigers, 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN Clemson feels vulnerable, and while Louisville may not hand them a loss, they could expose some weaknesses. Pick: Louisville +10.5 No. 18 Pitt Panthers (+7.5) at SMU Mustangs, 8:00 p.m. ET, ACCN Sticking with Pitt, even without recent game experience. Pick: Pitt +7.5 DK Saturday Main Slate DFS Picks Record Year to Date: 18 Wins 20 Ties 16 Losses Quarterback Rocco Becht, Iowa State ($6,500) – Becht is an under-the-radar play, leading Iowa State to a top-10 rank. Though they focus on the run, Becht's rushing and passing skills make him a strong pick against Texas Tech's weak defense, which allows almost 34 points per game. Bryson Daily, Army ($9,200) – Service academy QBs like Daily have high ceilings. Facing Air Force, who struggles against the run, Daily is set for a big game with potential help from Kanye Udoh. Running Back Trevor Etienne, Georgia ($6,500) – Etienne's recent performance makes him a top pick in Georgia's depleted backfield. With Florida's weak run defense, Etienne should see increased carries as Georgia likely pulls away. Mario Anderson, Memphis ($7,800) – Anderson thrives in Memphis's high-paced offense and faces a UTSA defense that's struggled against competent run teams. There's some risk of Memphis relying on the pass, but Anderson's volume makes him valuable. Wide Receiver Tez Johnson, Oregon ($7,700) – Johnson's high target count and Oregon's offensive strength make him a strong play. Michigan's secondary struggles, and Johnson's consistent performances offer a solid floor and ceiling. Chris Carpenter, UTSA ($3,700) – With WR1 McCuin out, Carpenter has been heavily targeted and is a great value in this high-scoring game. Learn more about your ad choices. Anthony Becht, former NFL tight end and current Jets radio announcer and head coach of the St. Louis BattleHawks of the United Football League, joins "The Matt Thomas Show with Ross" to preview the Houston Texans taking on the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium for Thursday Night Football. The Jets are coming off a 25-22 loss to the New England Patriots and sit at 2-6 on the season. The Jets are underperforming due to a "lack of execution" week-to-week, Becht said. "It's not just Aaron [Rodgers]... guys have to take accountability." With a "decimated safety situation," the Texans' offense has a chance to succeed against the Jets defense. "Everything has to flow through Joe Mixon," and with Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs out, "Dalton Schultz becomes a big priority." For the Jets to keep their postseason hopes alive, "they have to have balance offensively."

The Big 12 Experience (@TCEonSGPN) of the Sports Gambling Podcast Network discuss the 2024 Iowa State Cyclones. On the show Ryan McIntyre (@Moneyline_Mac), Troy Chewning (@TroyChewning), and Rush Bishop (@RamblingRush) breakdown the Cyclones program headed into the 9th season for Matt Campbell. Can Rocco Becht build off of his great Rookie of the Year in the Big 12? Will the running game led by Abu Sama III continue their momentum from the 2nd half of last season? What kind of years do we expect from Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel with another year with Becht? How will the transfers on the offensive line hold up to give the skill position players a chance to thrive? Could this defense take another step with virtually everyone back from last season? Can Jeremiah Cooper and Malik Verdon lead this unit at the back end of the defense? Will Jontez Williams and Darien Porter give opposing teams wide receivers fits? How will Kenard Snyder mesh with with the already really good defensive front? Do the guys like the over or under for 7.5 wins? Is is worth to take a shot on this veteran team to win the Big 12 title at +1000? Could this be the year Matt Campbell wins his first ever Big 12 and gets the Cyclones to the College Football Playoff? In this episode, Mike is joined by personal trainer and fat loss coach, Nick Becht, for an in-depth discussion regarding the tired battle of "good foods" vs "bad foods." They'll discuss how the mere thought of a food being "bad" can trigger several different negative emotions in a person as well as develop a poor relationship with food. The guys also analyze the role that diet culture has played in creating a mental war within people between the so-called "good" and "bad" foods. Mike and Nick go on to explain how they approach their clients with unlearning this mentality and set them on a path to success through taking control of their own diet and views on food.Contact Nick:Instagram: @nickbechtfitemail: nickbechtfitness@gmail.comContact Mike:Mike Sinopoli - NASM Certified Nutrition CoachInstagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn: @mfswellnessemail: mike@mfswellness.comphone: 630-361-4907www.mfswellness.com

The Iowa State Cyclones are a tough matchup for Baylor Saturday. Under Rocco Becht, the Cyclones are 4-3 and winners of back to back games before hitting their BYE week to prepare for the Bears. Along the way, Becht has started to emulate another ISU legend. For the Bears, they will rely heavily on transfer wide receiver Ketron Jackson, who went for a career high 150 yards in the win over the Cincinnati Bearcats.

“I didn't have the heart to pastor. God gave it to me.” Have you ever missed the voice of God? Have you ever heard the voice and ignored it? Can God do a work a life in the life of someone who has not been obedient? On this weeks show, Kurt and Chad talk with Christian radio icon Mike Becht. Having very little radio experience, Mike relocated as a young man to another state to volunteer from midnight to 6 AM as an on-air radio personality. Over a span of 40 years, he was eventually heard weekly by nearly 13 million people worldwide on over 700 stations on the program Soul 2 Soul, talking to the biggest names in Christian music history. But not all that glitters is gold. Mike shares his ups and downs from being fired from his dream job, to owning an award winning business, to nearly filing bankruptcy, to being called to pastor a church of 3 people, Mike tells of the grace God, who was with him all the while in spite of himself being so inconsistent with being obedient to Gods voice.
