Do you find it hard to tell others about your faith in Jesus Christ? In Exodus 18, Moses tells his father-in-law (a Gentile priest) what God has done in his life. In doing so, Moses models for us how to share our faith. In fact, Moses teaches us five lessons that can help wimps become witnesses of Christ. Send us Fan MailPeople can quote “caught up” all day and still miss what Paul is actually stressing. We open 1 Thessalonians 4:17 and push past rapture hype to the line that interprets the whole moment: believers are caught up “to meet the Lord in the air.” That single word “meet” becomes the turning point, because it's not presented as a random midair rendezvous but as a purposeful, welcoming encounter that says something big about the second coming of Christ. We talk through the Greek term apantēsis and the ancient custom it evokes: citizens go out to meet an arriving dignitary and then escort him back with honor. From there, the rapture reads like a royal reception for the returning King Jesus, not a secret escape plan. We also bring in Old Testament parallels where people go out to meet a victorious figure, then conduct him back in celebration, letting Scripture interpret Scripture instead of leaning on modern end-times charts. The conversation doesn't dodge controversy. We directly challenge dispensationalism and the pre-tribulation rapture framework, arguing it reshapes the Bible's emphasis and turns a Christ-centered event into a me-centered getaway. We then connect the same “go out to meet” language to Matthew 25's bridegroom and virgins and address claims about Revelation's 144,000, treating the number as symbolic of Christ's people. If you want a biblical theology approach to the rapture, resurrection, and Christian hope that keeps Jesus at the center, press play, then subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review. Send us Fan MailThe rapture gets treated like a secret evacuation plan, but we think the Bible tells a different story, and it's hiding in plain sight. We start with Revelation's most debated numbers, including the 144,000, and ask a basic question: are these figures meant to be counted, or meant to be understood? When you read John's vision as symbolic and Christ-centered, the fear-based spreadsheets start to fall apart, and the text starts to sound like hope again. Then we trace the phrase “meet the Lord in the air” (1 Thessalonians 4:17) back to something first-century believers would instantly recognize: the public welcome for a king. Matthew 21 gives the picture, crowds go out to meet Jesus and escort him into the city with celebration. We argue the rapture matches that same reception pattern: resurrection and transformation prepare God's people to greet Christ and usher him in, not disappear from the world forever. From there we tackle the claims that dominate modern dispensationalism: a pre-trib rapture, a future seven-year tribulation, and a literal thousand-year millennial reign. We walk through Matthew 24 and Jesus' “this generation” statement, connect the tribulation language to AD 70, and then bring in 1 Corinthians 15 to ask whether the resurrection is followed by “then comes the end,” as Paul says, or by a long chain of extra events that the text never clearly names. If you've ever wondered why end-times teaching feels confusing, this conversation is built to make you open your Bible and test everything carefully. Subscribe for more Scripture-first conversations, share this with a friend who loves prophecy charts, and leave a review telling us what you were taught about the rapture.Support the showBE PROVOKED AND BE PERSUADED!

Send us Fan MailDaniel 9 gets quoted like a cheat code for end-times charts, but when you read it carefully, it says far less than people claim and far more than people notice. We open the Bible and ask a plain question: if the angel tells Daniel exactly what the seventy weeks accomplish, why do we treat the passage like it's secretly about a future seven-year tribulation, a gap in the timeline, and an antichrist treaty that the text never names? We walk through Daniel 9:24 and its six outcomes, then press the logic of fulfillment in Christ. Along the way we talk about dispensationalism, pre-trib rapture assumptions, and why “in reference to” language can become a way to avoid letting the passage define its own meaning. We also bring in a simple interpretive rule from inductive Bible study: a passage can never mean what it never meant. That one principle exposes how easily we import Revelation imagery back into Daniel instead of practicing careful exegesis. Then we connect the debate to 1 Corinthians 15, one of the most-cited “rapture” texts. Paul says that when the resurrection happens, death is swallowed up in victory. If physical death ends there, what room is left for a future tribulation plus a literal thousand-year millennial kingdom where death continues? We close with practical encouragement to study the Scriptures directly, drop the presupposed lens when the text demands it, and keep our hope anchored in the one thing still ahead: the return of Christ. If this pushed your thinking, subscribe, share the episode with a friend who loves end-times topics, and leave a review with the verse you want us to tackle next.Support the showBE PROVOKED AND BE PERSUADED!

Send us Fan MailA single idea can flip your whole Bible reading: what if the rapture is not an escape plan, but a meeting? We walk through the classic “rapture verses” in 1 Thessalonians 4 and 1 Corinthians 15 and argue they describe a royal welcome of Jesus Christ and a triumphal procession, not a secret removal of Christians before suffering. That one shift changes everything from how you read tribulation to how you define hope. Then we zoom out into church history and the rise of dispensationalism in the 1800s. We ask why so many modern end-times assumptions feel “obvious” today while earlier Bible-believing theologians largely rejected them. From there, we put the system under pressure with direct Scripture: Paul's claim that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, and his promise that in resurrection death is swallowed up in victory. If a timeline requires death to keep reigning after that moment, what do we do with the plain words on the page? We also re-center the kingdom of God as Jesus describes it: not of this world, not coming with observation, but within his people. Finally, we tackle Revelation and the mark of the beast, pushing past viral theories to talk about worship, desire, works, and the seal of the Holy Spirit. If you care about biblical prophecy, end times theology, and honest Bible study, this is for you. Send us Fan MailThe mark of the beast gets treated like a future gadget far too often, so we slow down and ask a sharper question: what if “buying and selling” in Revelation is spiritual language about belonging? We talk through how the world's system rewards conformity, how Christians become outsiders, and why the mark points to allegiance, worship, and obedience more than a headline-ready prophecy chart. We also dig into how to read the book of Revelation responsibly. John says the message is “signified,” delivered through signs, and that means the Old Testament is not optional, it's the interpretive key. From there we challenge assumptions tied to dispensationalism and the pre-tribulation rapture, especially the idea that believers can't possibly face the mark. If receiving the mark makes salvation impossible, what does that imply about those who die in unbelief before any rapture scenario? Following that logic forces us back to the gospel, not speculation. Then we connect Isaiah 55's “buy without money” with Jesus' warning that you cannot serve God and mammon, and we examine how prosperity thinking shows up in Job's friends and in modern Christianity. Finally, we walk through Romans 9–11, Isaiah's “all Israel” language, and Paul's “seed” argument to clarify why there aren't two separate peoples of God. We end with 1 Corinthians 15 and the resurrection hope: death swallowed up in victory at Christ's one final return. If this reframes your view of Revelation interpretation, the mark of the beast, replacement theology, and the resurrection, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a review.Support the showBE PROVOKED AND BE PERSUADED!

Send us Fan MailThe wildest end-times ideas often sound confident until you follow them to their logical conclusion. We do exactly that, and then we rebuild our hope on something sturdier: what the New Testament actually says about Christ's return, the resurrection of the body, and the meaning of the rapture. We start with the intermediate state, because real life forces the question. Where are Christians who have died? We argue from Scripture that believers are with Christ now, conscious and alive, while their bodies rest in the grave. From there we tackle “soul sleep,” clarify why the Bible uses sleep as a metaphor for the body's temporary condition, and explain why resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15 has to mean the same body raised and glorified, not a replacement body. Then we turn to Christian eschatology and prophecy. We contrast a dispensationalism timeline that stacks rapture, tribulation, and a literal millennium with a simpler gospel-centered expectation: Jesus finishes redemption at the cross and we wait for His second coming. We also offer a practical way to read Revelation that treats seals, trumpets, and bowls as parallel cycles of decree, warning, and fulfillment, and we connect that approach to key prophecy debates like the Mount of Olives and Daniel 9.We close with the heart of the teaching: the rapture is not the end goal. It is the meeting in the air that prepares a joyful procession as we escort the returning King. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by end-times talk, this conversation aims to replace anxiety with clarity and worship. Send us Fan MailIf your mental picture of the rapture is mainly “getting out of here,” we challenge that assumption with a surprisingly practical Bible pattern: people go out to meet a returning ruler, honor him with gifts, and escort him back in a public celebration. We start with Old Testament snapshots that make the idea click, including Abigail rushing to meet David and the queen of Sheba approaching Solomon with tribute. The repeated theme is simple and sharp: the meeting is the point, and it's charged with joy, respect, and victory. From there we apply that “going out to meet” motif to rapture theology and the second coming of Christ. We talk about why believers are changed into glorified bodies, why the return is described as loud and unmistakable, and why Paul pushes back on claims that the resurrection already happened. When you put the pieces together, the rapture isn't the destination, it's the moment that equips the saints to greet the King and participate in His triumphant arrival. We also dig into Melchizedek, the king of righteousness and king of peace, and why Hebrews treats him as a crucial type pointing to Jesus as both King and High Priest. Along the way we call out how easy it is to fixate on the “finger” and miss the “moon,” turning the rapture into a small event instead of the doorway into a massive victory celebration. Explore the concept of 'praying without ceasing' as explained through 1 Thessalonians 5:17: "Pray without ceasing.” This insightful video delves into the idea of regular, heartfelt prayer and how it connects us to a divine 'live stream' from heaven. Discover the joy and power of prayer as more than a duty, but a delightful interaction with God's presence, supported by biblical references and historical anecdotes. God Himself is the initiator of prayer. Prayer begins in God and we are all just joining in the Live Stream of prayer that Heaven is already making available. All we have to do is to join it and be carried along with the Stream of Prayer that is flowing from Him. ‘Without ceasing' means REGULARLY, without any unnecessary gaps, as often as required. The word 'adialeiptos' (translated ‘without ceasing') was used to describe a tickling cough. A tickling cough is not one where you cough non-stop. It means that you cough without long gaps between coughs! *I. Let's move from RARE PRAYER to REGULAR PRAYER. Regular prayer doesn't mean that we are praying 24/7, but that we are in a constant flow of prayer. We are constantly accessing Heaven's Live Stream of prayer, which catches us up into God's Presence to walk with Him. “Praying at ALL TIMES (in every opportunity) with all kinds of prayer IN the SPIRIT (Ephesians 6:18). This is the key to joining Heaven's Live Stream of Prayer. We struggle to join it with our head! Our head is too limited. That's why we have the Holy Spirit living within our spirits, who makes us able to join that Live Stream. He helps us to tune into the bandwidth of Heaven and join in with what's flowing from God's Throne. We need to PRAY in the SPIRIT. Praying in tongues is one way we can pray in the Spirit, and join Heaven's Live Stream, but it is not the only way. Praying in the Spirit is praying from the Spirit within us, depending on the Spirit to lead and empower us in prayer. It is a way in which we pray, and a place from which we pray, more than it is a kind of prayer. *II. Let's move from HEAD to HEART. We will never be able to pray without ceasing, if we pray only from our HEAD. We have to go from prayer that only comes out of our HEADS to praying from our HEARTS, prayer in which we bring up from the core of our being, expressing God's life & heart of God within us. It's praying from our HEART. Martin Luther: “Prayer is climbing up into the heart of God.” God invites us to pray from His heart - praying from His lap, from His Father heart. We hear His heartbeat, as we put our head to His heart, like the beloved disciple (John) at the Last Supper, who laid his head on Jesus' chest (John 13:23). We can hear His heartbeat and pray His heart. The Holy Spirit will give us the right word to return to the Father in prayer. Prayer is joining God's Live Stream, so what pours out of Heaven through His Word & Spirit enters into us, and through prayer we offer it back to Him in Heaven. Then He responds in the Earth with answers: “So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 54:11). Man was never designed to live only from his HEAD. Man was designed to live from his HEART, from the core of his being. And so, let us PRAY from there. *III. Let's move from DUTY to DELIGHT. God wants us to take us from the DUTY of prayer to the DELIGHT of prayer. For many people, prayer is a CHORE, or worse a BORE, when it is so much MORE! Prayer is a DELIGHT. In Matthew 21:13, Jesus quoted from Isaiah 56:7: “I will make them JOYFUL in My House of PRAYER.” There is JOY in the House of PRAYER. Have we found joy in prayer? If not, let's get into Prayer's Live Stream. God's Live Stream will carry you on and carry you up! Psalm 34:5: “They looked to Him (in prayer) and their faces were light (radiant with joy).” When we look to God in prayer, rather than looking to ourselves and our own resources, we go beyond the DUTY and the DISCIPLINE of prayer, and get caught up in the DELIGHT (joy) of prayer. 1Thess 5:17 is the meat in the sandwich: “pray without ceasing.” 1Thess 5:16 & 18 are the bread. These 3 verses are a triptych of simple exhortations: “(1) REJOICE always, (2) PRAY without ceasing, (3) in everything GIVE THANKS” (1Thess 5:16-18). God doesn't want us in the DRUDGERY of prayer! He wants us to discover the DELIGHT of prayer. So, let us join Heaven's Live Stream of Prayer that God has made available to us.

Selah - A Podcast by Koinonia Fellowship

For every Christian, there is what we would call the general, or universal will of God. This will would be found in the Word of God. Here are a couple of examples of the general or universal will of God. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication (1Thess 4:3). Here is another one. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (1 Thess 5:18).Then there is what we could call, the personal will of God. That would be things like, “Where should I live?” “Where should I go to college?” “Should I date or marry this person?”. Of course the general will of God for that last request would be that you should never date or marry someone who is not a disciple of Jesus Christ. The personal will of God would be knowing God's will regarding who that disciple might be.One foundational truth for every disciple of Jesus Christ to understand is that the ultimate purpose for prayer outside of fellowship with The Lord, is wanting to know what His will is for your life. Romans 12:2 tells us that our growing in grace and Christ-likeness is found in being transformed by walking in the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God for my life. Pastor Epaphras labored in prayer for the saints in Colosse that they would stand in the perfect and complete in all the will of God.Beloved, our lives on earth are like a vapor. But in this vapor of time that we each have, we all have to make choices. And for each decision, we must be seeking God's will and direction, knowing and believing that God's will for us is the best and wisest. The saints in our study this morning were carrying on and making decisions like unsaved people with no regard for God's will or purposes. James is going to tell them that living like that is not only wrong, but sin. Jesus ended each prayer that He prayed in the Garden with the words, nevertheless, not My will but Thine be done. May we follow His example in prayer, and in doing so, submit our lives completely for His will, His purposes, His timing and ALL for His glory. In Ephesians 6:14-18, Paul describes the 7 pieces of God's Armour of God, which He provides to us through His Word for our spiritual warfare. The Breastplate of Righteousness (Isa 59:16) is necessary for guarding the heart. To enter into spiritual warfare, it is vital our heart is under the protection of God's Righteousness (it is the Armour of God). It does not consist of our own righteousness, but the righteousness of Christ. In spiritual warfare, pride is fatal. Instead, we must submit to God and His righteousness, which He gives us by grace (Job 41:34, Luke 10:17-20, Jam 4:6-7), through the Great Exchange (2Cor 5:21). To put on His Breastplate of Righteousness so that it covers and protects our heart, we must submit to His righteousness (Rom 10:3, Phil 3:9). It is attached to the Belt, for it is God's Word which imparts the faith we need to trust in His gift of righteousness. It had 2 parts, a breast and back plate, which correspond to (1) the imputed righteousness of Christ, through which we were justified by faith (Rom 3:28,4:1-8, 5:1, 8:1, Gal 2:16), and (2) the imparted righteousness of Christ (His life and nature) through the Holy Spirit (Rom 5:5, 14:17, Gal 5:22-23, 1Cor 1:30). (1) Through FAITH in Christ and His finished work we are justified, declared forgiven and righteous in Christ. This protects the heart from satan's main weapon – condemnation (Rev 12:10-11, Isa 54:17). (2) The LOVE of Christ filling our souls with His love (Rom 8:4) protects our hearts from evil thoughts. We see these 2 parts of the Breastplate in 1Thess 5:8: “putting on the breastplate of (1) FAITH and (2) LOVE.” We see these 2 kinds of righteousness in: Romans 1:17: “For in the Gospel the righteousness of God is revealed from (1) justifying faith to (2) living faith; as it is written: “The just (by faith) shall live by faith.”

The Lord is certianly not ignorant of our struggles in life, but one of the ways He encourages our hope is to remind us again and again of his soon return. But will it actually be soon? Bible Study Don't just take our word for it . . . take His! We would encourage you to spend time examining the following Scriptures that shaped this sermon: Sermon Series: Colossians Week 4: A Place to Stand Week 3: Christ at the Center Week 2: Transferred to a New Kingdom Week 1: To the Saints in Christ at Colossae Sermon Outline What the Gospel Servant Does What the Gospel Servant Seeks What the Gospel Servant Needs Sermon Questions Why does Paul equate being a servant of the gospel with being a servant of the church (compare 1:23 and 1:25)? Consider the different ways the pattern of "teaching one another" appears in Scripture (e.g., by word spoken in season (Prov. 25:11); by example of faithfulness in their circumstances (1Thess. 1:5); by wise application for faithfulness in your circumstances (Col. 1:28)). How is this dynamic at work in your life? Some Christians have helpfully thought about running the race, Monday through Saturday, using the acronym "BLESS." Use Colossians 1:24–2:5 as a guide to thinking through the following questions, and how to respond in the coming week: Bless others — especially non-believers, those different from us, and the poor, at least three times a week. Whom can I tangibly bless this week? Listen to God in His Word and Spirit and to others, to understand their stories and our culture's story. One ears open to the Lord; one to the culture — always clear on the direction of travel! To whom should I intentionally listen this week? Eat with others, including unbelievers, believers, and the poor. With whom should I eat this week? Speak to God (prayer) and speak to unbelievers the story and message of Jesus (witness). With whom should I intentionally share the good news this week?Sabbath in rest, play, praise, and celebration. How should I rest this week? Whom should I invite to join me in that rest? ‘The Olivet Prophecy' as most of today's reading of Matthew 24 is known – is full of challenging language about events future to that time.   Jesus in this chapter gives clarity to his parable that we looked at in Ch.22:1-14. In verse 7 talking of the Jews Jesus said ‘when the king heard he was angry and sent his armies and destroyed those murderers and burned up their city”. And so the roman armies destroyed the city of Jerusalem and the temple worship in AD70. Matt.24 is about the destruction of Jerusalem and ultimately the return of Jesus or “his coming'  The key question the disciples asked Jesus was, “What will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?” [v.3]  Part of his answer is to say, “if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved, but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.” [v.22].  The previous verse says, “there will be a time of great tribulation such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now” [v.21]  These verses speak of the very difficult times experienced by the faithful leading up to Jerusalem's overthrow and the close of the Jewish “age”.  Jesus said, “the powers of the heavens will be shaken” [v.29].  And so it was that the Jewish  governing powers or heavens were indeed shaken and the people dispersed throughout the then known world. Verse 31 tells us the angels will be sent out to gather the elect!  The prophecy now 2000 years later after the return of Jesus Christ (V30) the angels are sent out to gather the remnant of Israel (elect) (Rom.11:25-28). Consider that Israel is also called God's “elect” (see Isaiah 42 v.1, 45 v.4, 65 v.9,22) and they now exist again after 1900 years in oblivion, we suspect the reference by Jesus to “the elect” is primarily to them – it is for the sake of Israel that “those days will be cut short” – while the the angels are the glorified saints. (1Thess.4:15-17). God will act for “the elect's sake” but there may well be awesome events to occur as “the angels gather his elect” [v.31].  What will Israel's situation be at this time of world crisis?  In Micah 7 v.18,19 are the words, “Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance … He will again have compassion on us” For ourselves, let us live in a way that will ensure we are among “glorified saints ” spoken of as coming in the clouds of heaven (v30)  because we have established a relationship with him..

If you're just reading through Acts and come across these few verses about Thessalonica, you might be left with the impression the mission there was something of a failure. Paul, Silas and Timothy were only in the city for a short period of time. Some people came to Christ, but it wasn't long before fierce persecution arose and the missionaries were forced to flee, leaving these new believers on their own. It would be natural to assume that when left alone without the apostles to guide them, and facing the fury of a hostile community, these new believers might have renounced their faith or, at least, stopped speaking openly about their faith.  That's what you might assume if you just read this passage, but that's not all we know. Paul wrote two letters to them within probably a few months of his departure. He, too, was worried, so he sent Timothy back to check on them. And when Timothy returned and reported what he found (Ac 18:5; 1Thess 3:1-8), Paul was thrilled, and wrote the letter we call First Thessalonians, and shortly after that he heard the church was confused about the Lord's return, so he wrote Second Thessalonians. What we discover when we read these letters is not a church struggling to survive. Instead, we discover people that are thriving and spreading the gospel over the entire region. How is that possible? What on earth did these missionaries do to those people? What kind of seed did they plant in their hearts that would keep growing even without mature leadership and in the midst of persecution? Frankly, the result of the mission to Thessalonica is a miracle. Under normal circumstances that church shouldn't have survived. But it did, and it grew…and we need to discover why. Because whatever those apostles taught or did to those people that produced such lasting life-change, we need to teach and do for those we lead to Christ.

One of the ways to keep our appreciation of Christ's death fresh is to learn more about the cross. In this episode we learn that one of the reasons Christ died on the cross was to be our Christus Victor. When we view the story of the Bible from this lens, the incarnation becomes an invasion, Golgotha a battlefield, and the cross becomes the Snake Crusher's mighty death blow to the head of the serpent. At the cross, Christ not only died for us, but also fought for us. And conquered by dying!
