Jerry believes Fields still needs instruction himself. The Steelers lack a quarterback, and Aaron Rodgers didn't appear at Pat McAfee's Pittsburgh show. The upcoming Kickoff to Summer show was mentioned. C-Lo's update covered Masters practice rounds. Allen Lazard is staying with the Jets on a reduced contract. The hour concluded with a discussion about Al Leiter's field in Bayville, NJ, where Jerry's son recently played, noting Al's funding of the field.
Hour 1 Today's show features Gio & Jerry as Boomer is out. They discussed Luka Doncic's 45-point return to Dallas, calling his trade and Denver's coach/GM firing unusual NBA moves. Relating this to the Knicks and Thibs, Jerry believes they can compete with Boston in a 6 or 7 game playoff series, while Gio predicts a second-round loss to Boston in the same timeframe. C-Lo's update included the Yankees' win (despite a shaky finish), Cody Bellinger's five-year chicken wing ban due to food poisoning, Gio and Jerry's fake scalped ticket stories, the Mets' shutout loss, and the White Sox's latest defeat involving Mike Tauchman. Later, Doncic received a standing ovation in Dallas. The hour concluded with Pat Boyle seeking a Masters golfer to bet on and Gio watching a tornado documentary on Netflix. Hour 2 Gio isn't overly concerned about Devin Williams' early struggles, recalling Edwin Diaz's initial adjustment in New York. He criticized Brett Baty's throwing error and questioned Jeff McNeil's continued presence on the Mets. Regarding the Masters, Gio prefers top 20 bets. The show discussed Chris Russo's disbelief over Cody Bellinger's hotel chicken wing order and Keith McPherson's unfamiliarity with "scuttlebutt." Zach Gelb interviewed Ian Eagle about his and his son's Emmy nominations. Luka Doncic's 45-point return was mentioned again. The final segment covered the Rangers missing the playoffs, which annoyed Al last year, and the current Giants draft talk also bothers him, with a question raised about the lack of Jets quarterback draft discussion. Hour 3 Justin Fields addressed media questions about the Jets potentially drafting a quarterback, stating he doesn't answer rhetorical questions but is open to teaching. The hour concluded with a discussion about Al Leiter's field in Bayville, NJ, where Jerry's son recently played, noting Al's funding of the field. Hour 4 Thibs' job might be in jeopardy if the Knicks underperform in the playoffs, especially with Michael Malone available. The Rangers will have a new coach next season, highlighting the NHL's trend of rehiring coaches. The show questioned why good coaches are repeatedly fired instead of addressing player issues. A caller described an agent interacting with OnlyFans customers. Another asked Gio about breathing magnets, which didn't help him; he plans to try mouth "hostage tape." C-Lo's final update included Adam Schein's anger at optimism following the Knicks' loss to the Celtics, Jason Day's correction of a reporter's phrase, and the disappointment of Sam Rosen missing playoff games in his final season. The Moment of the Day was a humorous suggestion of an OnlyFans featuring Fred Couples. The show concluded with a discussion about golf spectators getting hit by stray balls.
New York Baseball Legend and MLB Network Analyst Al Leiter joins BT and Sal to go down memory lane and help the guys get ready for Opening Day tomorrow.
Hour 4 - Getting ready for Opening Day with Al Leiter and so much more!
The Yankees traded for OF/1B Cody Bellinger. They are not done adding yet as they still have plenty of money since they didn't sign Juan Soto. We had a man dinner last night that included John Franco and Al Leiter and Gio was talking baseball with them. We also took the ferry from NYC to Jersey City and it was a great experience. The topic of drones came up at dinner but Gio didn't want to be seen as a crazy guy if he was talking about UFOs. Mike Francesa even weighed in, thinking it's Amazon preparing to deliver packages with drones. Jerry is here for his first update of the day, but first we talked about the new Bob Dylan biopic that is coming out on Christmas Day. Jerry has audio of Francesa talking about UFOs and drones. The Falcons are making the switch to Micahel Penix Jr in their game against the Giants and for the rest of the season. Jerry Jones was on the radio in Dallas and said he has eaten raccoon and squirrel. His favorite part was the brain, ‘delicious, seriously'. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the no win situation for the Giants Sunday. They passed on Penix in the draft and if the Giants win they ruin their draft position.

Hour 2 Cody Bellinger's wife previously dated Giancarlo Stanton. Did Brian Cashman know about this prior to seeing if it would be an issue? Gio said Giancarlo has probably had 10,000 girlfriends so it's probably not a big deal. Gio talks about a time at WFAN where numerous guys dated the same woman over a period of a few years. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Devin Williams talking about coming to the Yankees. Clay Holmes met the media to talk about joining the Mets. Michael Vick is the new head coach at Norfolk State. The Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA Cup. Shaq talked about hating all the threes in the NBA. Chris Russo doesn't like Shaq criticizing the NBA. Shaq doesn't know who Russo is. In the final segment of the hour, Al gifted Gio with a Christmas video message from Aman100, who Gio loves from TikTok/Instagram. Hour 3 Phil Simms joins us in his usual Wednesday spot. We started with Michael Penix Jr, who will start this week against the Giants and for the rest of the season. We talked about whether Schoen and Daboll would be back next year. Who would Phil give the MVP to right now? Phil doesn't think the Bills can go to the Super Bowl and win it because of their defense. We also talked about Patrick Mahomes' injury as the season winds down and we head into the playoffs. Gio asked Phil about Mike Vrabel for the Jets and if that's a fit. He thinks if Vrabel goes to the Jets, then Rodgers is out. Phil thinks Sam Darnold would be great for the Colts. Jerry returns for an update and starts with audio of Ryan Clark vs Aaron Rodgers on with McAfee. Bill Simmons had an interesting theory on why guys let go of a ball before they get in the end zone. Chris Russo was not happy with the upcoming NFL schedule on Christmas. He then reacted to the number of broadcasters on the game. In the final segment of the hour, there are 22 on air people involved in 2 Netflix games. Gio throws some names out there to see if Boomer knows if the person is one of the broadcasters or is not part of the broadcast. Hour 4 Gio cannot believe how long Boomer's illness has been lingering. Gio thinks he needs to be tested for pneumonia. Gio was at the doctor the other day and there was a man in the waiting room who had not bathed in a very long time. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with Michael Penix Jr getting the start this week against the Giants in Atlanta. Jerry Jones was asked about trading Micah Parsons in the offseason. Clay Holmes talked about coming to the Mets who now have Juan Soto. Jerry starts with the sounds of the Sixers win over the Heat. Why does Charles Barkley think the Knicks are frauds? Gio thinks he's doing it just to troll the Knicks fanbase. In the final segment of the hour, reports are that there are four candidates to replace John Sterling on the Yankees radio broadcasts. Kendrick Perkins said Barkley and Shaq don't watch games, which is why they don't like the Knicks. The Mets completed their sweep of the Pirates and the Yankees snapped a 3-game losing streak by beating the Blue Jays. Jason Kelce lost his Super Bowl ring in a pool of Skyline Chili. National League Town is up on its feet and joining Citi Field in a standing ovation for the New York Mets Hall of Fame ceremonies, even furtively clapping inside the press conference room and press box where we otherwise maintain professional decorum (00:20). So happy are Greg and Jeff to have watched Gary Cohen, Howie Rose, Al Leiter and Howard Johnson inducted into the Met Hall in 2023, they are getting ahead of the crowd and announcing their own nominations for the Class of 2024 — two players National League Town has talked up before, two players National League Town could have mentioned sooner (47:30). We also pay tribute to the franchise's very first pitcher; remember one of The Franchise's first very first catchers; and bump into the brother of another Met of yore while waiting for a train (1:10:00).

EPISODE 217: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:43) SPECIAL COMMENT: As reports swirl, we seem to be on the verge of SOMETHING from Special Counsel Jack Smith and the Grand Jury. It is reportedly to reconvene this week after a month off. And DOJ is reportedly set to meet with Trump's lawyers. And now a new question: would DOJ make at least a token plea deal offer to him? A LOT going on. (7:29) SPECIAL COMMENT: Having learned nothing from anything, Just to convince the RNC to give the network a Republican Presidential Primary debate, CNN is reportedly ready to partner with a far right website - and even have one of its propagandists co-moderate the debate WITH a CNN star ON CNN. And NBC is also prostituting itself to get a shot at a Republican debate, sending Lester Holt to try to talk them into it. And we continue to have fallout from Tim Alberta's profile of CNN CEO Chris Licht in The Atlantic. Actually, it's less fallout and more an autopsy because Licht would have fared better if he'd gone into the Atlantic OCEAN. There is soooo much to discuss, but not too many possibilities as to what might happen next. As Burt Lancaster says to Tony Curtis in "Sweet Smell of Success": "You're dead, son. Get yourself buried." B-Block (35:50) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: "When I took over ‘Meet The Press',” said Chuck Todd on Meet The Press as he announced his own firing FROM Meet The Press, “it was a Sunday show that had a lot of people questioning whether it still could have a place in the modern media space. Well, I think we've answered THAT question and then some.” He's self-aware to the last. And Lauren Boebert caught in a huge lie: she didn't fail to vote on the Debt Ceiling in protest; she just didn't make it in time - and it's on tape. IN SPORTS: the ultimate fan protest in a replica uniform and the Mets with a novel Hall of Fame induction (46:10) WORSTS: Marine LePen DOESN'T prove her French party wasn't associated with the Russians, Elon Musk's lawyers make a court filing that essentially disproves "The Twitter Files;" And a "comedian" goes on NewsMax and makes what she thinks is a joke but is actually a 150-year old racist trope about fried chicken. C-Block (50:40) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Lola in Miami (51:40) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: The day my ability to tolerate Chuck Todd for one more moment snapped like a dry twig during a drought and I could no longer bear to even be in the...same fantasy football league as him.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Now batting, now pitching, now broadcasting for the New York Mets: human beings. It might be helpful to remember those are people on the mound, at the plate or behind the mic. You are not legally required to bring empathy to a ballgame, but National League Town believes it doesn't hurt to pack a little and keep it within reach, especially as a given season's frustrations mount. And if you are going to a ballgame, it would be hard to pick a more glorious venue than Coors Field, regardless of inglorious results (14:15).
