See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The redesigned midsize SUV is an important part of the Toyota U.S.-market lineup. Listen in to hear Jill's impressions. Wyland’s Ford Explorer collided with a Subaru while turning, leading to further collisions with a Chevrolet and a Toyota. The crash remains under investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact Cobb County Police. Filed in 2023, the lawsuit claimed the legislation creating the city and a community improvement district (CID) violated Georgia’s single subject rule. However, the court ruled unanimously that the rule wasn’t breached, as the CID is logically connected to the city’s creation. Mableton was established via a 2022 referendum, with 53% voting in favor. Mayor Michael Owens expressed hope that the ruling will help the community move forward and embrace the city’s progress. Operated by Atlanta-based Port Royal Brands, this 3,600-square-foot location will be Walk-On’s first non-traditional prototype, featuring a bar-centric design, 50+ TVs, and signature dishes like Fried Alligator and Bayou Pasta. Located near Battle & Brew and the Aloft Hotel, it will include a 120-seat dining room and a walk-up bar window, leveraging The Battery’s open container policy for a unique dining experience. STORY 7: Kennesaw Resident Relishes "Surreal" Finish at Miss America Pageant Carley Vogel, a senior at Middle Tennessee State University from Kennesaw, achieved second runner-up at the Miss America pageant in January. Representing Tennessee, Vogel described the experience as both challenging and rewarding, emphasizing the importance of discipline, resilience, and self-discovery. A music business major and musical theatre minor, she won a preliminary talent award for her performance of "Climb Every Mountain," dedicated to her late grandmother. Her success earned her a $10,000 scholarship. Post-graduation, Vogel plans to pursue a career in country music, building on her experience performing the national anthem at major events. On the morning of March 24, 1994, 26-year-old Matthew Flores, a former Army lieutenant and Gulf War veteran, parked his rented car outside his new workplace in Santa Clara, California. Moments later, he was shot execution-style as he leaned into the car to grab his jacket. The parking lot was full of employees starting their day, yet no one saw the shooter. Security footage revealed a dark Ford Explorer circling the lot suspiciously around the time Matt was killed, but unfortunately, his murder was not captured on camera. Despite a thorough investigation, no motive or suspects have ever been identified publicly. It's been over 30 years since Matt was killed, and investigators are still searching for the killer... This week the Unnamed Automotive Podcast tackles a pair of vehicles that haven't been discussed in over two years! First Sami reviews the 2025 Ford Explorer ST, which packs plenty of power with its three row setup. While Sami claims that's a good trick to help the Ford overcome its rivals, Benjamin argues that addition is not relevant enough or useful to shoppers. After that hot debate, Benjamin shares his thoughts on the 2025 Genesis electrified G80, a much loved executive sport sedan that made the transition to electron operated propulsion. That change comes with a few compromises as Benjamin notes, but do they tarnish the overall experience? Then the guys return to the Fiat 500e, where one of our listeners describe their use case scenario for the small EV and how it works in a completely different market.
A 43-year-old father and his 17-year-old son have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of the teen's mother, just hours after she informed them of her intent to file for full custody of her younger son, according to local authorities. Charles Martinez and his son, Hevon Martinez, were arrested following a four-month investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the July 2 homicide of 38-year-old Chrystal Snow. According to an arrest affidavit, both Charles and Hevon pleaded with Snow over the phone on the evening of July 1, urging her not to proceed with the custody filing scheduled for the next day. Investigators allege that the father and son then drove to Snow's residence in the early hours of July 2 and fatally shot her. "Charles and [Hevon] were both aware that Chrystal was preparing to file paperwork at court the following day, related to her petition for full custody," the affidavit states. "Charles and [Hevon] both made one last attempt to convince Chrystal not to go to court and file for full custody." Multiple witnesses informed CBI agents about conversations they had with Snow on the night of the homicide, during which she allegedly recounted threats from Charles and Hevon. Witnesses claimed both had made verbal threats to kill her in the past. At approximately 2:20 a.m., neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots coming from Snow's residence. Investigators believe Charles and Hevon drove to the home in a white Ford Explorer belonging to Charles's mother. Evidence suggests at least one gunshot was fired from outside the house through the front living room window before they entered. "The victim appeared to have fled to the bathroom of the master bedroom, where she was confronted... and shot multiple times," the affidavit says. Despite her injuries, Snow managed to call 911. First responders arrived to find her deceased. She had suffered gunshot wounds to her upper right arm, upper right chest, and right leg. A spent cartridge casing was found near her body. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Charles and Hevon traveling on local roads to and from the crime scene in the white Ford Explorer. Interviews with witnesses and a domestic violence victim advocate who had been in contact with Snow provided additional evidence against the pair. The victim advocate detailed allegations of domestic abuse and threats by Charles and Hevon dating back to October 2023. Snow had filed a protection order after Hevon allegedly "put his hands on her throat" and "threatened to kill her," claiming the abuse began in February 2023. Charles was also accused of threatening to murder Snow in her sleep during their 18-year relationship. The advocate stated that Snow told her, "Charles said he would come in the middle of the night to kill her and that a protection order was just a piece of paper," according to the affidavit. In June, Snow was granted a permanent restraining order against Charles for verbal abuse and harassment after their split in October 2023, as reported by The Denver Post. "It is clear, based on evidence and information obtained thus far in the investigation, that the homicide of Chrystal was a pre-planned event by both [Hevon] and Charles," the affidavit concludes. Hevon was arrested on July 7 for an unrelated incident in which he allegedly fired a .45 caliber handgun at a vehicle during a Fourth of July event in Cortez, Colorado. Charles Martinez is being held on a $2.5 million bond. Hevon Martinez was already in custody for separate charges, but he will be charged as an adult Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Jill and Tom opened the show addressing a couple of future topics: Federal incentives for used electric vehicles, and the number of Chinese-built models sold in Mexico by Chevrolet. Next, Tom apologized to Sam Fiorani for making yet another model-year mistake. Tom also shared his preliminary take on the updated-for-2025 Ford Explorer midsize crossover. Still in the first segment, Jill shared news regarding her new ride for this year's Rebelle Rally, and walked listeners through the list of vehicles eligible for the 2025 North American Car of the Year awards. The list is crowded; listen in for details. In the second segment Jill and Tom welcome Jamie Butters, Executive Editor of Automotive News to the show. After sharing his take on the recently announced, but as yet undefined, General Motors and Hyundai cooperative effort, Jamie shared insights from AN's Future Product Pipeline series. Jamie also shared his thoughts on the future of the Jaguar brand in the U.S. In the last segment Jill is subjected to Tom's “Stellantis!” quiz. Jill also wrapped up this week's show with her review of the new all-electric Volvo EX90 midsize electric crossover.
And reviews of the BMW 5 Series, Jeep Gladiator and Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid
Tom opened the show complaining about people who spend too much time considering their selections at donut shops, specifically at Spunky Dunkers in Palatine, IL, when Tom is trying to pick up a 6-pack on his way to the studio. In a follow up to last week's Ford Explorer review, Jill and Tom turned their attention to cars, and the news that GMC will be reducing the number of Terrain compact crossover trim levels to three for 2026, and just one for 2025. This is a follow up to Jill's Explorer review from last episode, in which the hosts noted that Ford is slashing the number of that vehicle's trim levels from eight to just four. Jill shared her drive impressions of the new-for-2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe. The 4-door midsize crossover deviates from the existing GV80 with its rakish roofline, more upscale trappings, and unique, higher-performance engine. In the second segment, Jill and Tom welcome Dan Sampson of the Los Angeles Auto Show to the podcast. During a great conversation, Dan addressed the notion that auto shows are going through a period of decline, shared news about new and returning brands to the show, and shared details regarding online access to the proceedings. The L.A. Show kicks off in late November. In the last segment Jill is subjected to Tom's “Real or Fake Auto Show” quiz, including a pumpkin-spice bonus question.
Jill and Tom opened the show noting that Chinese electric-car maker BYD is exploring developing a retail network in Canada. Tom explained why the Canadian market would be friendlier to Chinese imports than the U.S. The hosts went on to discuss recent U.S.-market sales growth for Mazda. The Japanese maker had recently made public it's intention to take the Mazda brand upmarket, and early sales of its CX-50 and CX-90 models suggest that the project is successful. Tom also shared some fun data on the cities in which the Car stuff Podcast is most popular. (Hint: City number five isn't in the U.S.) Jill shared her take of the freshened 2025 Ford Explorer, the maker's popular midsize 3-row crossover. Jill shared her drive impressions, plus explained why the updated SUV is offered in fewer trim levels for 2025. In the second segment, Jill and Tom are joined by Ford Heritage Brand Manager Ted Ryan. Ted shared the history of Ford's Chicago Assembly plant. The historic factory turned 100 years old this year, and is steeped in brand history. Listen in for a list of Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles built at the plant. In the last segment, Jill is subjected to Tom's “Was it a Ford?” quiz. Tom also briefly shared his impressions of the Lexus LC 500, and Nissan Z Nismo. All Business. No Boundaries. The DHL Supply Chain Podcast Welcome to All Business. In industry news, the Ford Explorer gets a mid-cycle refresh and ditches their plug in hybrid. Kelly says it's giving Subaru Ascent. And if you were hoping to snag a New York Auto Show tour, Kelly's booked, but you can check out tours with Scotty, who runs A Girl's Guide to Cars. Ashley writes in today's ditch the drive-through recipe, Caprice Chicken. If you're not in first trimester survival mode, this recipe is for you. First, gather your ingredients: thin sliced chicken breasts, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, basal glaze, fresh basil. Cook the chicken on the stove top in a pan with some olive oil or avocado oil, salt pepper, Italian seasoning, whatever sounds good. Once about halfway through, flip the chicken and throw in some grape or cherry tomatoes. Keep them in long enough for them to start blistering. Once chicken is nearly cooked, cover with slices of mozzarella, so it starts to melt onto the chicken. Once finished, drizzle the balsamic glaze on top and garnish with fresh basil. Serve with a veggie or bagged salad and rice, pasta, or potatoes. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Write in your advice questions!
