Overcoming Challenges in UK Housing DeliveryThe government's ambitious goal of delivering 1.5 million homes within this parliamentary term is undeniably bold. Bob Weston, Chairman of Weston Homes, highlighted the need for significant action to meet demand, particularly given a 40% drop in housing output and a decline in first-time buyers due to limited mortgage support schemes.Robert Mulryan, Director at Ballymore, emphasised that London, in particular, faces a steeper challenge, with construction starts down approximately 70% from the 10-year average. However, both experts expressed optimism that with the right policy changes and industry collaboration, the sector can regain momentum.Keeping London Competitive on the Global StageLondon remains a world-class city, but maintaining its appeal to high-net-worth individuals and businesses is crucial. Daniel Daggers, Founder of DDRE.Global, pointed out that London must compete more effectively for global talent and investment.“The ultra-high-net-worth community is hypermobile,” he explained. “We need to create an environment that entices them to choose London over other global hubs.”Daggers advocated for more supportive tax policies, streamlined entrepreneurial regulations, and enhanced AI capabilities to foster a thriving business environment.Bridging the Housing Affordability GapGeeta Nanda, a leader in both affordable housing and private development, underscored the importance of making housing accessible to medium-income groups. “The demand for housing is massive, particularly in London. We need to innovate in how we fund and deliver affordable housing,” she said. She highlighted the vital role housing associations play in affordability but noted that rising costs and financial pressures have limited their ability to build at scale. Her call to action? More efficient allocation of existing government funds rather than reliance on new funding sources.Practical Solutions for a Stronger Housing MarketThe panel shared a range of solutions designed to boost housing supply and affordability, including:Recapitalising Housing Associations: Redirecting funds to support building safety measures, freeing up resources for new development.Simplifying Design Standards: Adjusting London's design requirements to enable the construction of more affordable homes, better aligned with market demand.Expanding Mortgage Availability: Introducing genuine 90% mortgage products to improve accessibility for first-time buyers.Updating Shared Ownership Caps: Revising outdated income thresholds to reflect current market realities and allow more people to benefit.Empowering Small and Medium Developers: Supporting smaller projects that can contribute to overall supply while waiting for larger developments to materialise.A Positive Outlook for London's FutureDespite the challenges, the panel remained confident in London's enduring appeal. Robert Elder, Senior Economist at the Bank of England, reassured attendees that the current government is committed to building more homes and is open to practical solutions from industry leaders.London's cultural and economic strengths remain a powerful draw. “60% of global music production happens in the UK. We have an incredible theatre district. The talent here is exceptional,” noted Daniel Daggers.Robert Mulryan added a note of urgency: “London is one of the greatest cities in the world, but competition is fierce. We need to act decisively to maintain our position.”Turning Ideas into ActionThe message from the panel was clear: the time for discussion has passed—it's time for action. Addressing the housing crisis isn't just about policy; it's about people.Geeta Nanda summed it up best: “We need to start making real, actionable changes.”With the right strategies, collaboration, and commitment, the UK has the expertise and investment potential to create a thriving, inclusive housing market that works for everyone.

As the 100-day Olympic Review is underway, Ballymore has become the focal point in the Brisbane 2032 stadium debate. CEO of Queensland Rugby Union, Dave Hanham, told Sam Leckie on Wide World of Sports, "We presented to the 100-day review committee about the legacy that we want to leave with Ballymore." "You're going to create a home for women's rectangular sport, another high-performance centre of excellence, and we're confident if we can come out of this 100-day review maintaining that position as an Olympic venue, that will only bode well." "Our view is there's a need, irrespective of the Olympics, but the Olympics can actually add a little bit more value to it as well," Mr Hanham continued. Currently building the Guinness Quarter, Sea Gardens in Bray as well as numerous large projects in the UK. To burnish its credentials here Ballymore has also agreed to use a Guaranteed Irish Supply chain. But with a major slump in commercial property and intense political pressure to build homes, what's it like being a major builder these days? Christmas is calling and our heroes have failed to decorate Grapple HQ. That doesn't stop them from loading up on the jolly joy of the yuletide season with a tinsel laden extravaganza of sporting analysis and insight, as this Graptacular podcast edges toward the conclusion of its exceptionally merry  first season. Santa's workshop is abuzz with speculation about the contract of Ben Hunt and the Broncos, and these two little Elves just can't help but remind one and all that THEY TOLD YOU SO. How does he fit, who goes, who stays? It's a puzzle that would have even Clark Griswold struggling to bullshit his way out of, and our noses are shining red with all the intrigue. Also stuffed under the Christmas Tree is a veritable sprawl of rugby league players vying to take one of QLD's 4 NRL teams to the North Pole of Premiership glory. The Grapplers run the rule over the top 30 squad's of each club, and speculate wildly on who fits where, when, how and what they might need to do to actually take that coveted step underneath the mistletoe of Rugby League's ultimate gift. Laurie Daley is the Marty McFly of State of Origin coaching, call us Grinches but we're not entirely sure this trip back to the future is in the spirit of the season. A semi-rare reappointment for the Blues gig has our heroes pondering if the Bellamy/Daley combo can deliver the gifts like the OG Santa, or if it's more like some old dude making a bit of pocket money by dressing up in a suit and posing for pics at the local Westfield.  The NFL is a long way from Ballymore, and it's well worth a stuff into the speculative stocking to work out just what Jordy Pataia is up against in his quest to slide down the chimney of talent identification and stick the landing. Can this ultra talented Wallaby and Red wrap himself up and nestle snugly under the proverbial tree of glory? The numbers suggest he's driving the sleigh into a blizzard, but isn't Christmas all about belief?  Also on the lunch table: Why are the Matildas the Kamala Harris of Aussie sport? And let's pop a christmas cracker to celebrate the career of Fatty Vautin, and pay tribute to the life of Neale Fraser, who becomes a spirit of Christmas past and leaves a sizeable bootprint in the snow of Australian tennis. It's merry, it's bright, it's the Grapple Podcast. Dig it.

Ballymore Resources unveils promising results from Dittmer gold project in Queensland

Ballymore Resources Ltd (ASX:BMR) technical director David A-Izzeddin tells Proactive's Stephen Gunnion that initial assay results from a Stage 4 drilling program at the company's Dittmer gold project in north Queensland are very encouraging. The company has a number of projects in the area, which A-Izzeddin said is "remarkably under-explored," despite significant gold findings in the 1990s. Dittmer stands out for its history as a high-grade gold mining area in the late 1800s to early 1900s, with the Dittmer mine noted for its extraordinary gold yield. Ballymore's recent drilling programs have uncovered evidence suggesting the potential for substantial mineral deposits near the historic mine sites, with results indicating the presence of high-grade gold within a shear zone that appears to widen with depth. Further exploration and drilling efforts have identified promising structures and anomalies, suggesting an extensive mineralisation that remains open for exploration. The company plans to continue its exploration activities with surface drilling programs aimed at revealing the full potential of these areas, including the possibility of encountering porphyry copper systems as indicated by geochemical anomalies and historical data from nearby locations. With a recent $5 million investment from the Taurus Mining Royalty Fund, A-Izzeddin said Ballymore Resources is well-funded to advance its ambitious exploration projects. This financial support, part of an $11 million funding effort, enables the company to explore not only the promising targets at Dittmer but also other locations like Cedar Ridge. Although the primary focus remains on discovering significant mineral deposits, there's also the potential for initiating small-scale mining operations in the near term, leveraging the high-grade findings and proximity to existing infrastructure. #BallymoreResourcesLtd #CopperGoldExploration #NorthQueenslandMining #GitmoMines #RavenswoodGold #MineralExploration #HighGradeGold #MiningInvestment #ExplorationDrilling #PorphyryCopper #ProactiveInvestors #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

George Elek is joined by Andy Holding and Johnny Ward to preview day two of the Punchestown Festival. Following on from the three Grade 1 races on the opening day, Wednesday sees another three Grade 1s in the eight race card. The first of those takes place at 17:20 with the Irish Mirror Novice Hurdle. An open looking contest with The Nice Guy the current 2/1 favourite, closely followed by both Minella Cocooner and Minella Crooner. Rachel Blackmore rides Journey With Me who'll be looking to banish the memory of that fall in the Ballymore at Cheltenham.Next up at 17:55 is one of the week's most eye catching races, the Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup. Allaho heads the market at 15/8 whilst Minella Indo, Clan Des Obeaux and Galvin all look to hold strong chances also. Andy likes the look of the current price on Clan Des Obeaux with the favourite being on the short side. The final Grade 1 on day three is the Punchestown National Hunt Flat Race. Facile Vega and American Mike go head-to-head once more after that battle in the Champion Bumper with the former coming out on top in March. The panel like the look of him once more should the ground go in his favour. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Dividing her time between training in the Wallaroos squad, being a STAN Sports pundit, ABC Sports podcaster and public speaker, Sera Naiqama is one of the busier rugby personalities going around. She drops in for a quick chat to dissect Australian rugby as we experience that post domestic season lull before the Spring Tour/Autumn Internationals commence! We discuss the difficulties the Wallaroos are facing having played no games in 2 years and being a year out from the World Cup in New Zealand and why a decision has to be made soon on investing in the future of Australian women's rugby. We also hear about Sera's journey from 7s player to Waratah and then being in the Wallaroos setup, the leap from online vlogger to prime time sports pundit, the perfectly worded "Can you be more Pacific" sports podcast, acoustic versions of Nelly's "Ride wit me" and a Golden Gun teacup (just listen, it'll make sense).
