Chris Daikos served as an Army Ranger (Airborne) with 2/75, and is a Seattle Kraken fanatic. Will Chiarucci is a podcast host and a diehard New York Islanders fan. With these two teams making the wild card, we figured we'd do a show paring them up talking the 2023 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. While discussing hockey we get into some other major related topics as well, including if the celebration of veterans by the NHL is authentic or disingenuous, and the politicization of sports today. Both guys have previously been on the show and if you want you can listen back to Chris on Ep. 114, and Will on Ep. 63. It’s been a few weeks since the guys were able to join forces and able to record. We recapped the roller coaster that is the New York Mets. With each given week we aren’t sure if the team is good or bad. We just happen to be on an up part of the ride this week. Oh, what fun we are having with it. This week’s leadoff we talk about the NBA Lottery and how this year even though it didn’t go the Knicks way. The new lottery system proves to be a better system to prevent teams for tanking since the team that won the lottery wasn’t in the top 5 worst teams in the league this year. We welcomed in Will Chiarucci (@WChiarucci) from On the Board Sports podcast to talk about his weekly show and everything podcasting. We also went broke down the Yankees, Islanders, and Jets. We went in-depth about how the Yankees are in first place even though the household Yankees aren’t the ones carrying them on a nightly basis. We also reacted to the Islanders resigning Center Brock Nelson to a six-year extension before he was able to test the free agent waters in July. Lastly, with Will, we spoke about the dysfunction with the recent moves the Jets have done with firing General Manager Mike Maccagnan after Free Agency and the NFL Draft. Lastly, we predicted the NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup Final and break them both down to a fine powder and are very excited to see both of them unfold. Thank you for listening to the newest show.
