On this episode, we catch up with Otis Buckingham (@otisbuckingham), the young Maui waterman tearing it up in foiling, wingfoiling, prone, downwinding, and even big wave surfing at Jaws. Fresh off scoring epic downwind sessions on Oahu's North Shore with legends like John John Florence, Otis dives into the high-level world of multi-discipline riding, his journey with KT Foils, and the future of foiling from the heart of Hawaii's water sports scene.Episode Highlights:- Scoring dream downwind runs on the North Shore with John John Florence, Malat A, and friends—exploring new zones, glassy conditions, and the potential for massive Northeast swells with trade winds- Growing up in Maui's water sports mecca: boogie boarding at Sugar Cove, idolizing locals like Kai Lenny and Ridge Lenny from a young age, learning from Ho'okipa legends (Levi, Robbie, Keith, Jason Polakow), and getting mentored into the KT family early on- Big wave experiences at Jaws: rare no-wind sessions with a tight crew (Kai, Ian Walsh, Cash, Finn, Annie), the adrenaline of paddling into 40-foot barrels, the surreal drop feeling like a skyscraper, brutal wipeouts that build confidence, and the mental game of pushing through fear with friends' encouragement- How he joined KT: starting with windsurfing lessons from Levi, jumping ship from Ozone before they even had wings or foils, and now riding a versatile quiver like the well-rounded Nomad and Atlas series (cambered designs for low-end glide and pumping)- Loving the all-around performance of KT foils: one-foil versatility across downwinding, prone, winging, and tow; prototype downwind boards with insane stall speeds and pumpability; excitement for upcoming gear drops- Competing on the GWA tour: Maui crew dominance in Morocco and Cape Verde, podium finishes (2nd overall, 1st in prone), loving perfect reeling waves for big turns, airs, and slides—plus pushing windsurfing more in the future- Parawinging fun on mid-length prototypes for nimble, surf-like feels; Olympic aspirations in wing racing with American One Racing camps; sailing background helping with technical racing knowledge- Living in Laird Hamilton's old house for some extra "mana"; the unique Maui lifestyle where conditions dictate the day's sport (downwind, windsurf, kite, surf, prone); why water sports feel all-encompassing compared to land activities- Foiling's future: more global accessibility (even on flat lakes), exposure beyond hotspots like Hawaii/California/Europe, and embracing innovations like foil drive for no-wind days (with a healthy respect for the prop!)If you're into multi-discipline foiling, wingfoiling, downwind adventures, big wave stories from Jaws, growing up surrounded by legends, the evolution of brands like KT, or the pure stoke of island waterman life—this episode is packed with inspiration, real talk from the next generation, and serious foil geekery.Catch the full conversation and follow Otis Buckingham on Instagram @otisbuckingham for his latest sessions, big airs, tow foiling, and Maui adventures. Gościem odcinka jest Asia Kucharska - psychodietetyk, pedagog specjalny, terapeutka dzieci i młodzieży, zaangażowana w pomoc osobom skrzywdzonym w Kościele i współpracująca z inicjatywami pomocowymi. ❤️‍

Gwałtowne zmiany w KGHM, spadek kursu akcji o niemal 25 procent i rekordowe obciążenie podatkowe znów stawiają miedziowego giganta w centrum polityczno-gospodarczej burzy. W błyskawicznym tempie zwołano nadzwyczajne walne zgromadzenie akcjonariuszy, zmieniono większość członków Rady Nadzorczej reprezentujących Skarb Państwa i natychmiast dokonano zmian w zarządzie.– mówi Józef Czyczerski. Sytuacja w spółce była stabilna, podejmowaliśmy działania, by neutralizować skutki podatku.– podkreśla.

Czym żyją i Polacy, i Niemcy. Wyjaśniają i dyskutują z publicznością: prof. Marek Cichocki z Collegium Civitas i dr Anna Kwiatkowska z Ośrodka Studiów Wschodnich, twórcy podkastu „Niemcy w Ruinie?”Prowadzi: Paulina Wilk. Chcesz lepiej rozumieć Niemców, odczuć atmosferę wydarzeń historycznych, zadać pytania o to, ile nas łączy i dzieli albo wziąć udział w rozmowach o przyszłości naszej części świata? Zapraszamy osoby zaciekawione wydarzeniami międzynarodowymi, książkami non-fiction, literaturą piękną, historią i teatrem. Łączymy powieści z myślą polityczną, a sztukę z badaniami nad przeszłością.

I am so excited to say that my guest on the GWA podcast is one of the most influential artists working in the world right now, TANIA BRUGUERA! Hailed for her installation and participatory performance works that blur the boundaries between art and reality, Bruguera has dedicated her life to making work that explores freedom of expression, immigration, totalitarianism, and human rights. She has brought attention to the strict control of Cuban authorities by confronting visitors at Tate Modern with performer police officers on horseback, to setting up an open debate on an official-looking stage at the Havana Biennale to give people license to say what they want for one minute… Her work – often set in the framework of the theatre – has continued to push art to its limits and grant space for important and difficult conversations to take place. As she has said: “In a way, when you talk about politics, there is a lot of theatre involved. And what I'm trying to do with my art is how can we break the classic theatre where everything has already been decided, into a place where people can add something to the discourse”. Born in Cuba in 1968, Bruguera was raised during the era of Fidel Castro by a diplomat and minister father in the Castro government. She moved three times – to Paris, Lebanon, and Panama – before returning to Havana, where she graduated from the Escuela de Arte San Alejandro, and would go onto complete MFAs in painting and performance in Havana and Chicago. Since then, Bruguera has researched both the promise and failings of the Cuban Revolution, in performance pieces that allow her audience to unite and gather together and see and experience what lies behind governmental propaganda. Not only do these works speak universally, transcending time and place, but they are a great comment on the promises and failings of institutions and governments today. The founder of the first performance studies programme in Latin America, known as the Behaviour Art School, Bruguera is also Senior Lecturer in Media & Performance, Theater, Dance & Media at Harvard University, where we are recording with her today, and, as an artist I have admired for a very young age, I really can't wait to find out more. --- My new book, How To Live An Artful Life: https://www.waterstones.com/book/how-to-live-an-artful-life/katy-hessel/9781529155204 --- THIS EPISODE IS GENEROUSLY SUPPORTED BY THE LEVETT COLLECTION: https://www.famm.com/en/ https://www.instagram.com/famm_mougins // https://www.merrellpublishers.com/9781858947037 Follow us: Katy Hessel: @thegreatwomenartists / @katy.hessel Sound editing by Nada Smiljanic Music by Ben Wetherfield

Gwałtownie rośnie przestępczość i będzie rosła dalej– ocenił.

I am so excited to say that my guest on the GWA podcast is the renowned psychologist Lisa Wenger, who is also – very excitingly – the niece of the artist we are going to be discussing today: Meret Oppeheim! Having collected and copied thousands of letters, notes, and documents from acquaintances of the German-Swiss artist – famed for her paintings, sculptures, collages, and more, who was commonly associated with the Surrealists – Wenger is something of a world expert on her aunt. The author and co-author of numerous books, including the award-winning “do not wrap words in poisonous letters” as well as “Meret Oppenheim - My Album” - Wenger is also responsible for updating the catalogue raisonne of her aunt, and co-running the estate, which has of late seen Oppenheim have major retrospectives at the Museum of Modern Art, Kunstmuseum Bern, and others that has put the trailblazing artist firmly in the spotlight. Born in 1913 in Berlin, at the inception of the first world war, Oppenheim was raised with her maternal grandmother in Switzerland. An interest in Jung as a teenager led to her life-long fascination with dreams, informing her art practice and involvement with the surrealists, who she met in Paris after venturing there aged 18 in the 1930s. Here, she created some of her most iconic artworks, such as the fur-lined teacup and saucer which she called Object (1936), that attracts as it does repulses and still divides opinion today, and ‘my nurse', a pair of white high-heeled shoes turned upside-down to evoke a chicken on a tray, which plays with gender stereotypes, femininity and the domestic sphere. But, with the outbreak of the second world war, it was back to Switzerland, which proved to be a very different environment to Paris… But, never not creating, Oppenheim made dream-like paintings, sculptures, and collages that reflected her dreams, as well as a woman stifled by her lack of freedom. Over the decades, Oppenheim built up a output that would become some of the most pioneering in Europe, after all, she said: “nobody will give you freedom, you have to take it” Today, I meet Lisa in Casa Constanza, in Carona, surrounded by Meret's possessions and spirit - and ahead of the new exhibition at Hauser & Wirth (4 June – 19 July 2025). Obecnie wchodzimy w rolnictwo 4:0, erę sztucznej inteligencji i technologii teleinformatycznych. Porozmawiajmy właśnie o bezpieczeństwie i aspektach prawnych lotów poza miastem. O nowych maszynach rolniczych, czyli dronach. Anna Kindy explains why she does not endorse DRIPA and more

Roy L Hales/ Cortes Currents - While she recognizes DRIPA as a valuable document, MLA Anna Kindy recently informed the SRD Board that she does not support ‘article 26.' The topic came up when she took part in the May 26 Board meeting.  Kindy began by stating, “ Part of the reason I'm here is to actually learn how things are run.  I'm not going to pretend I know everything, far from it.  It's a steep learning curve, but my motivation is to truly represent my constituents. I ran for a party, but I'm apolitical now that I am an MLA,  I just look at issues separately and try to bring people's voices to the legislature, to whoever it needs to be brought to.  I'm not a public speaker by nature, but I do answer questions very readily, so I'm just going to pass it over to you guys if you have any questions." Regional Director Mark Vonesch, of Cortes Island, responded,  “My question is about Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People's Act (DRIPA). During the election, your leader spoke about dropping it and since then, members of your party have denied the graves that have been found in some residential schools. That's raised a lot of concern and I'm just wondering if you could comment on that.” Anna Kindy:  “Okay, first of all, let's go back to the first question, DRIPA. You have to look at unintended consequences of every bill that passes. UNDRIP is from the United Nation and we are the only, and I will repeat the only jurisdiction worldwide that has adopted it word per word (as DRIPA).” “Most of DRIPA is fine, I'm a hundred percent for economic reconciliation. What we've done is terrible and we need to reconcile what we've done. It's about treaties, it's about economic reconciliation. What DRIPA does, if you look at section 26,  there's a question of what will be the private property rights of every British Columbian.” Article 26 1. Indigenous peoples have the right to the lands, territories and resources which they have traditionally owned, occupied or otherwise used or acquired. 2. Indigenous peoples have the right to own, use, develop and control the lands, territories and resources that they possess by reason of traditional ownership or other traditional occupation or use, as well as those which they have otherwise acquired. 3. States shall give legal recognition and protection to these lands, territories and resources. Such recognition shall be conducted with due respect to the customs, traditions and land tenure systems of the Indigenous peoples concerned. Anna KIndy:  “The entire aspect of crown land will be under the jurisdiction of 4% of the population potentially to make decisions and I am of the opinion that we all have equal rights. We are all Canadian.”  “Economic reconciliation means that we need to make sure that we lift First Nations out of poverty.  In this region, what that means is to support industries that are lifting them out of poverty. I'm an addiction doctor. If you look at the GNN nation (Gwa'sala-'Nakwaxda'xw Nations), they had 10 or 11 overdoses and suicides in a two month period in 2024. So this is urgent, I don't talk about semantics.” “The issue is section 26. This is in a democracy and we're an equal society, we all should have the same rights.”

Gwałtowne reakcje nieadekwatne do sytuacji? Tymczasem proces głębszego zrozumienia siebie to najskuteczniejsza droga do trwałych zmian w sposobie myślenia, odczuwania i funkcjonowania w świecie. I am so excited to say that my guest on the GWA podcast is one of the most exciting artists working in the world right now, Rose B Simpson. An artist working across mediums that span from sculpture to performance, painting and ceramics, Simpson is hailed for her life size clay figures which she adorns with a plethora of symbols, extended antennas and materials – from steel, beads, leather, and wood... She challenges the nature of sculpture in ways, as she has said, that “can transform my own reality”, and her figures appear to be imbued with spirituality. They have titles like Genesis, Guides, Heights and Vital Organ – accentuating the importance of the body and rituals. Simpson was born, and lives and works, in Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico, and grew up in a multigenerational, matrilineal lineage of artists working in clay, including her mother, whose work is grounded in Pueblo traditions. Her practice is informed by Indigenous tradition, as she has said: “The work represents my own journey, whether it is a psychological investigation or a new spiritual awareness, or practical…” A recipient of a BFA from the Institute of American Indian Arts, an MFA in Ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2011, and another MFA in Creative Non-Fiction from the Institute of American Indian Arts in 2018, storytelling, history and making seems to be at the centre of her practice – something she has expanded on further with her artwork Maria – a black-on-black Lowrider 985 Chevrolet El Camino and artwork and named in honour of Native American artist Maria Martinez, which sits at the heart of her community in Espanola Valley – and I can't wait to find out more! Ps. 73 (1) Psalm Asafa. (14) A przecież bywałem bity cały dzień I upominany każdego poranka! (23) Przecież ja zawsze jestem z Tobą, Ty ująłeś moją prawicę, (24) Prowadzisz według swojej rady, A potem przyjmiesz mnie do chwały. (26) Choćby osłabło me ciało i serce, Bóg mą opoką, mym działem na wieki! (28) A ja? Moim szczęściem jest być blisko Boga. W Panu, w JHWH, znalazłem schronienie I pragnę opowiadać o wszystkich Twoich dziełach. Nauczanie z dnia 17 marca 2024

We've been planning to sit down with Olivia ever since she did her world record downwind challenge, but we've never been able to make it work - she's so busy! This week was the week, even having to bail the first time because Liam was caught by the dreaded Covid...... A great chat was had though - as we'd suspected! Olivia runs us through the current goings on in her life including a very fun sounding trip to Tenerife to shoot with the AXIS crew. We catch up on the Downwind challenge she did last year and also hear some rather amusing stories about her time competing on the GWA events.... Another friend of the podcast is made - we look forward to hopefully bumping into Olivia somewhere in the world! If you like what we do, check out buymeacoffee.com/gfpodcast - we're aiming to get ourselves away on some specific trips this year to make sure we have some great people to chat to, and we'd appreciate all the support we can get to bring our ideas to life!

Mike Petrusky invited Kate to join him on the show just days after returning from Denver, CO where they both took part in “The Big Debate: Which way should the pendulum swing?” with the Workplace Evolutionaries community. They agreed to take a more thoughtful, nuanced approach when discussing the impact of remote work and acknowledged that the problem facing companies is NOT a binary one and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Mike and Kate took a deeper dive into the challenges brought up in the debate, including the difficulty in measuring the impact of remote work on productivity, innovation, culture, and engagement. Kate believes that the evolution of work is just beginning and she challenges workplace leaders to remain curious, open to new ideas, and willing to experiment. Mike and Kate both emphasized the importance of adaptability and continuous learning, especially for facility management professionals, as they navigate the future of work and seek to be a Workplace Innovator in their organizations! If you're a coworking space owner, or thinking about starting one, attending a conference can be a great way to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in the industry. But how do you measure the return on investment of attending a conference? That's what we'll be exploring today. Benefits of attending a coworking industry conference: Learning about the latest trends and best practices in coworking. Getting access to insights and actionable tips that can be applied to your own coworking space. Networking with peers in the industry, including other coworking space operators, vendors, and investors. Potential for new business opportunities, such as partnerships and collaborations. Costs of attending a coworking industry conference: Registration fees: GCUC and the GWA are in the $500 to $800 range for early bird tickets. Travel expenses: If the conference is out of town, you'll need to factor in the cost of airfare or transportation, as well as lodging and meals. Time away from work: Attending a conference can mean taking time off from your regular duties, which can impact your business operations. Calculating the ROI of attending a coworking industry conference: To calculate the ROI of attending a coworking industry conference, consider both the costs and the potential benefits. Some factors to consider include: Cost of attendance: How much did you spend on registration fees, travel, and lodging? Value of knowledge gained: What new skills, insights, or best practices did you learn that can be applied to your own coworking space? Potential for new business opportunities: Did you make any new connections that could lead to partnerships or collaborations? Case studies: I share a few case studies from coworking conferences that I've attended -  partnerships formed, collaboration ideas sparked, and introductions that led to new job opportunities Tips for maximizing the ROI of attending a coworking industry conference: Plan ahead - Set specific goals for what you want to achieve at the conference. Go beyond the content - attend social events and make connections with other attendees. Schedule time to follow up with new connections after the conference to maintain those relationships.
