Cada semana en Onda Cero junto a Agustín Bravo, Sergio Alberto Gama y Beatriz Martínez analizamos la seguridad vial. Desgranamos la clasificación de las motorizaciones actuales, el profundo cambio de chip psicológico que exige un coche híbrido frente a uno de combustión tradicional y por qué el mantenimiento preventivo es el factor más determinante para salvar la salud del aire y de nuestras carreteras. El mercado del automóvil ha experimentado una transformación tan acelerada en el último lustro que, para el ciudadano de a pie, entrar en un concesionario se ha convertido en un auténtico ejercicio de descifrado tecnológico. Conceptos como la hibridación, la electrificación pura o la pila de combustible se cruzan constantemente en los catálogos y en los debates de bar, a menudo desvirtuando el verdadero propósito de la movilidad: llevarnos de forma segura, eficiente y responsable de un punto a otro. A partir de las reflexiones de nuestro equipo técnico en los micrófonos de Onda Cero Madrid Sur, ponemos orden en este "caos" de siglas para comprender qué tecnología se adapta mejor a cada necesidad y por qué, por encima de cualquier etiqueta ambiental, el factor más determinante para la ecología y la seguridad vial sigue siendo el gran olvidado: el mantenimiento del vehículo. 1. Clasificación de motorizaciones: el mapa tecnológico de 2026 El mercado actual de turismos se estructura en torno a varias grandes familias tecnológicas, cada una con un diseño mecánico, un propósito de uso y un comportamiento térmico radicalmente distintos: • Combustión Tradicional (Gasolina o Diésel): Los motores térmicos de toda la vida. Aunque han alcanzado un nivel de eficiencia térmica y de depuración de gases asombroso en sus últimas evoluciones —como el coche de combustión que conduce Sergio—, siguen dependiendo exclusivamente de combustibles fósiles para generar movimiento y no regeneran su propia energía eléctrica. • Híbridos Convencionales (HEV - No Enchufables): Vehículos que combinan un motor de gasolina o diésel con un pequeño motor eléctrico y una batería de baja capacidad. Esta batería se auto-recarga únicamente mediante la retención y la frenada regenerativa. El motor eléctrico asiste principalmente en las fases de arranque, maniobra y circulación urbana a muy baja velocidad, reduciendo de manera muy notable el consumo urbano sin necesidad de cables. • Híbridos Enchufables (PHEV): Equipados con un motor térmico y un motor eléctrico potente alimentado por una batería de gran capacidad que requiere ser conectada a la red eléctrica para cargarse. Ofrecen una autonomía 100% eléctrica real que oscila entre los 30 y los más de 130 kilómetros según el modelo. El software del coche gestiona de forma inteligente cuándo usar la energía eléctrica o activar el motor de gasolina. • Eléctricos 100% (BEV): Desaparece por completo el motor de combustión. El vehículo depende única y exclusivamente de la energía acumulada en sus baterías de litio para alimentar sus motores eléctricos, logrando cero emisiones directas en su funcionamiento. • Pila de Combustible (FCEV - Hidrógeno): Una tecnología eléctrica que no se recarga enchufándola a la red, sino que genera su propia electricidad a bordo mediante una reacción química de hidrógeno en una pila de combustible, expulsando por el tubo de escape únicamente vapor de agua limpia. Su presencia en el mercado sigue siendo minoritaria. 2. El "cambio de chip" al volante: del Golf de Agustín al Toyota híbrido La tecnología bajo el capó no solo cambia la forma en que el coche consume energía; altera por completo la psicología del conductor. El ejemplo más claro lo hemos vivido en el propio equipo de Auto FM con la experiencia personal de Agustín Bravo al pasar de un coche de combustión tradicional a un híbrido convencional de Toyota: • La conducción del ayer (Combustión): Conducir un coche como un Volkswagen Golf atmosférico ofrece una respuesta inmediata al acelerador. Esa entrega de fuerza directa y reactiva fomenta, de manera inconsciente, una conducción más viva, alegre y a veces adictiva a la velocidad. Es un estilo de conducción donde se apura la aceleración y se usa el freno de manera constante y brusca para corregir excesos al llegar a las rotondas o cruces. • La conducción del presente (Híbrida): Al subirse al Toyota híbrido, la primera sensación suele ser de un coche más "perezoso" debido a la suavidad y el refinamiento de su transmisión planetaria. Sin embargo, su entrega progresiva de potencia es una invitación directa al tráfico calmado. El conductor de un híbrido aprende a dominar el arte de la anticipación: en lugar de acelerar hasta el último metro, aprende a soltar el pedal del acelerador cientos de metros antes de llegar a una rotonda, un semáforo, un paso de peatones o una zona escolar. Ese sencillo gesto permite que el motor eléctrico actúe como un generador, reteniendo el coche de forma suave, recargando la batería de manera gratuita y eliminando casi por completo la necesidad de pisar el freno físico. Esta conducción suave no solo reduce el estrés y resulta infinitamente más eficiente; de manera indirecta, pacifica el tráfico y elimina por completo el temor a ser sancionado por la Guardia Civil por excesos de velocidad. 3. El principio del 2/42: por qué el mantenimiento es la verdadera ecología Existe una preocupante hipocresía social y política que asocia la ecología del automóvil única y exclusivamente a la pegatina de color que adorna el parabrisas. Los datos científicos demuestran que un motor térmico en perfecto estado puede ser infinitamente más limpio y respetuoso que un moderno híbrido con descuidos mecánicos. Aquí es donde entra en juego el revelador Principio del 2/42: La realidad de las emisiones: Los estudios de emisiones reales demuestran de forma sistemática que tan solo el 2% del parque automovilístico en circulación es responsable de generar un alarmante 42% de la contaminación total del aire en las ciudades. Ese porcentaje tan dañino no está integrado exclusivamente por camiones pesados o coches clásicos de hace treinta años. En su inmensa mayoría, está compuesto por vehículos mal mantenidos de cualquier tipo, año y tecnología, incluyendo modernos híbridos o híbridos enchufables que circulan con inyectores obstruidos, filtros de partículas saturados, aceites degradados o válvulas obstruidas. El mantenimiento preventivo y regular (respetar los intervalos de revisión, cambiar los lubricantes a su debido tiempo y atender de inmediato a cualquier aviso o ruido extraño del motor) garantiza que un vehículo, incluso de combustión tradicional, circule emitiendo índices de partículas contaminantes inferiores a los que homologaba de fábrica. Comprar un coche ecológico no sirve de nada si se descuida su mecánica. 4. El "secreto de la Coca-Cola" de la ITV: un trabajo en equipo La Inspección Técnica de Vehículos (ITV) cumple un papel indispensable para garantizar que los coches que comparten la calzada reúnan unos mínimos de seguridad y de emisiones. Sin embargo, para la mayoría de los conductores, lo que ocurre dentro de la línea de inspección sigue siendo un misterio absoluto, casi como la fórmula de la Coca-Cola. La ITV se limita a garantizar unos estándares mínimos o básicos de seguridad activa: que las luces e intermitentes funcionen, que la dirección esté alineada, que el nivel de emisiones no sea desorbitado y que los frenos y neumáticos no estén en las últimas. Sin embargo, la seguridad vial real exige un nivel de rigor mucho mayor. De hecho, si de los profesionales de la formación dependiera, las pruebas de la ITV deberían ser hasta cuatro veces más estrictas. El ejemplo más claro de esta falsa sensación de seguridad se da en las suspensiones y los amortiguadores: • El desgaste invisible: Un amortiguador pierde su capacidad de absorción y control de forma tan lenta y progresiva a lo largo de los kilómetros que el conductor se adapta habitualmente a su degradación sin notar el peligro. • El umbral de los 200.000 kilómetros: Al llegar a los 200.000 kilómetros, la inmensa mayoría de los coches circulan con los amortiguadores gravemente desgastados. Aunque el coche pase la ITV sin problemas (ya que la máquina solo detecta fugas graves de aceite), su comportamiento dinámico está comprometido. • La frenada es un trabajo en equipo: Ante una frenada de emergencia o una maniobra de esquiva para evitar un atropello, los sistemas del coche deben trabajar al unísono. Por muy nuevos que sean los neumáticos y por muy potentes que sean los frenos, si los amortiguadores están desgastados y no mantienen la rueda pegada al asfalto de forma firme, el coche perderá la trayectoria, rebotará peligrosamente e incrementará de forma crítica la distancia de detención frente a un amortiguador en buen estado con 50.000 kilómetros. Etappe des Giro d'Italia führte heute über 189 Kilometer von Alessandria nach Verbania und wurde zu einem klassischen Ausreißer-Erfolg. Der Italiener Alberto Bettiol gewann nach einer Attacke am letzten Anstieg solo vor Andreas Leknessund und Jasper Stuyven. Eine große Fluchtgruppe bestimmte lange das Rennen. Leknessund setzte sich zunächst am Schlussanstieg ab, wurde aber kurz vor der Kuppe von Bettiol eingeholt. Dank seiner Streckenkenntnis in der Region Verbania konnte Bettiol in der Abfahrt entscheidend Zeit herausfahren und seinen ersten Giro-Etappensieg seit fünf Jahren feiern.
