This week, we welcome Paul Martino, Maria Martino, and Maria Wurtzbacher, who join host Scott Wurtzbacher to relive their fairytale on the Tour du Mont Blanc. A milestone-year idea became a self-guided loop of 100 miles around Mont Blanc across France, Italy, and Switzerland, 31,000 feet of climbing and 71 hours on trail, the kind of effort that turns friends into family. They share the shift from vacation to quest, the music of cowbells, quiet chapels that steadied shaky moments, balcony paths and a ladder section, even a helicopter's rotor wash on an exposed cliff. There is laughter at border crossings and Sound of Music singalongs, a running joke about ham and cheese, and street dancing in Courmayeur, plus generous, family-run hospitality along the way.We explore what it takes to go from point A to point B each day, training and simple routines, smart support without a guide, and the four trip markers: come home safe, achieve the goal, laugh, and cry. Intentions are tested and met: getting strong at 50, doing hard things at 60, unplugging for two and a half weeks, and learning to let go of the watch. Say yes to big adventures, choose courage over comfort, and travel together with heart.

We are back with a long overdue review of our CCC race at UTMB, which sadly, for at least 50% of the Running Gingerly Crew, didnt go to plan! We cover the soul searching that goes on when a race doesn't go to plan, the doubts and questions that creep in and the ongoing quest to find answers and silver linings among the grey clouds. As always plenty to smile about in there too!
Takımlar Beklentileri Karşıladı Mı? Zeren Spor'un kadrosu bekleneni verebilecek mi? Galatasaray'ın organize oyunu Aras Kargo neleri geliştirmeli? Beşiktaş umut vaadediyor mu?
Jay heads over to Chamonix to take on the TDS. A race with 9400m of elevation change over 145km of remote alpine trails, the TDS has a formidable reputation for difficulty and testing the endurance of those seeking more of a challenge than the classic UTMB 100 miler can offer. TDS takes its participants from Courmayeur in Italy back to the iconic finish line in Chamonix, giving the runners a maximum of 44 hours for the journey. Its remote and exposed course includes sections of via ferrata with potentially fatal drops at 2600m and relentless climbs and descents at lung busting altitudes. In this episode we'll find out how Jay got on vs his pre race predictions. Will it be glory or will TDS claim another scalp? We hope you enjoy this episode. Thanks again to all of you for listening. If you have a moment please, like, subscribe and if you have a moment free perhaps write a short review. It's all a great help to us in growing the audience and is very much appreciated! Tris and Jay
Exploring Lombardia, Piemonte, and Valdosta In this captivating episode of Kimberly's Italy, hosts Kimberly Holcombe and Tommaso invite listeners on a journey through the enchanting regions of Lombardia, Piemonte, and Val d'Aosta. Their mission is to spotlight the unique characteristics of Italy's 20 regions, with a particular focus on promoting lesser-known travel destinations. Lombardia: Diversity and Cultural Richness Kimberly and Tommaso begin by exploring Lombardia, a region renowned for its varied landscapes and significant economic contributions. Milan, the cultural and economic hub, takes center stage as Kimberly shares her personal experiences from living in this vibrant city. She candidly discusses the allure of Milan alongside the challenges posed by increased tourism. The hosts also highlight other noteworthy cities in Lombardy, such as Brescia, celebrated for its rich art and food culture, and Bergamo, known for its well-preserved medieval center. Their reminiscences of trips around the picturesque Lake Como and Lake Lugano, including an unforgettable encounter with Ferraris, add a personal touch to the episode. Piemonte: A Land of Culinary Delights and Natural Beauty The journey continues to Piemonte, a region distinguished by its geographical diversity. Kimberly and Tommaso delve into the world of Barolo wine and truffles, key highlights of Piemonte's culinary scene. They discuss the vibrant city of Torino and the lesser-known gem of Vercelli, famous for its expansive rice fields that attract cyclists and offer exciting river sports. This segment is a treat for food and wine enthusiasts as well as nature lovers. Val d'Aosta: Italy's Smallest Region with Grand Scenery Finally, the hosts turn their attention to Val d'Aosta, Italy's smallest region, celebrated for its pristine air and natural beauty—a stark contrast to the urban hustle of Milan. Kimberly and Tomasso share exhilarating skiing experiences at the Matterhorn and Cervinia, and explore the region's impressive wine production and breathtaking scenery, especially around Courmayeur. This segment promises to inspire outdoor adventurers and those seeking tranquility. Follow us on Social Media Instagram Facebook Looking Ahead Stay tuned as Kimberly and Tommaso continue their biweekly journey through Italy's regions, providing invaluable insights and travel tips.

In this episode, Keely and Corrine talk through some recent races and news around the Boston Marathon and Team USA funding. Then they interview Sophie Power. Sophie Power is a long time ultrarunner and mom of three who stepped into a calling when a photo went viral of her breastfeeding her then 3 month old son in the Courmayeur aidstation during the 2018 UTMB. Since then she has become the trustee to the research and insight charity, Women in Sport, as well as launching her own advocacy organization SheRACES which fights to get more women on startlines. They discuss the importance of implementing policies that encourage female participation and how to get more athletes on start lines. Off to a fresh (and earlier) start on Day 2 from Courmayeur. Our itinerary included an 18K day with a long climb in the first 5K. Met some interesting people on the trail, many of whom were circumnavigating Mont Blanc in 10-14 days and were shocked to learn of the runners who could do it in less than 24 hours! Literally ran into one of our recent podcast guests, Priscilla Forgie! She is set to toe the line at CCC next week. More spectacular views and scorching heat as we finished the day somewhere in the Val Ferret region. If you enjoyed our show please leave a rating and review. We would really appreciate it. We arrived in Courmayeur from Geneva and got right down to business! An 8K 'shakeout' run was on the itinerary and we figured it would be a great way to get our flatlander legs warmed up. Little did we know that it would be a lesson in map and sign interpretation, steep climbs (with rewarding views) and oppressive heat. We learned some important takeaways for Day 2, bring more nutrition and always pack toilet paper! If you enjoyed our show please leave a rating and review. We would really appreciate it.
Our guest this week had an immediate rise up the WTA rankings when she made her first tour final at just 16 years old. Now ten years later, with a decade of experience under her belt, she continues to be a force in the tennis world, most recently her surprise run to her 3rd career WTA singles title in Courmayeur, Italy to cap off an extremely difficult year. It was a season of question marks as she was unable to compete for most of 2021 with a severe knee injury that required surgery....but who doesn't love a great 2022 WTA comeback? In this interview, Donna talks about her years on tour, her favorite matches, including her defeat of Maria Sharapova in her very last tour match. We discuss what's next for her, including her new candle & fragrance line, DNNA and we hear her thoughts on how social media has impacted her career, as well as how she likes to celebrate after big matches. You won't get a more raw look at a player that at just 25 has already had a successful career, including a top 20 ranking, wins over several former world #1's and a 2019 US Open Quarterfinal appearance. She has big plans to accomplish even more as she enters the next phase of her tennis journey. I hope you'll join us in getting to know....the fantastic Donna Vekic. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jon-guerrica/support
