On this week's edition of The Michigan Recruiting Insider Sam Webb and Steve Lorenz discussed the addition of Alabama transfer Damon Payne and the ordeal that led him to first rescind his commitment before later reissuing it again. The discussion turns to other defensive line pursuits after defensive line pursuits after Keyshawn Silver committed to USC. Jay'viar Suggs, David Gusta, and Jared Dawson are covered. Moving to quarterbacks, Dequan Finn, Brendon Lewis, and Mikey Keene are discussed. The conversation shifts to offensive linemen and the recent commitment Brady Norton. Northwestern offensive line transfer Josh Thompson, a top portal priority for Michigan, is next. Then comes receiver targets and USC pass catchers Zachariah Branch and Duce Robinson. The visit at Max Klare, the no. 1 tight end in the portal is covered. Next Sam and Steve highlight Alabama running back Justice Haynes and his potential to compete for a starting role. They also discussed Emmanuel Karnley, a top-ranked cornerback from Arizona, who is visiting Michigan despite interest from Miami and Ole Miss. On this episode of The Wolverine Podcast, Clayton Sayfie and Anthony Broome discuss Michigan Wolverines football transfer quarterback targets Dequan Finn (Baylor), Brendon Lewis (Nevada) and Mikey Keene (Fresno State), before breaking down four new transfer commitments. They recap Michigan's 87-86 loss to Oklahoma on the hardwood in Charlotte Wednesday night and then make first-round College Football Playoff picks against the spread in our final segment, 'No Man Knows The Future.' Here are estimated time stamps for each topic:(00:00) Intro(5:49) Michigan transfer QB pursuits(32:50) Prizepicks(34:33) Michigan lands Tevis Metcalf, TJ Metcalf, Brady Norton, Damon Payne Jr.(40:55) Gametime(41:48) Michigan vs. Oklahoma recap(57:05) No man knows the future
Things Discussed: The Book: It's what we would have wanted. Kickstarter backers: I wrote an update but the gist is tracking numbers might come after the books because USPS. Ohio State is Flag-Mad. Brian: 11W and MGoBlog diverged in business models a long time ago: they do clickbait, we make big books. Seth: The reason this hits Ohio State so hard is they have nothing else to be proud of anymore. They bet everything on beating Michigan and then got absolutely punked again. Symbology is all that's left. Chip Lindsey: Came up through high school so he's got a lot of different ideas. Lots of coordinator experience. He develops somebody else's quarterback. QBs take fewer sacks, run less (more scrambles than called runs). Lindsey's philosophy, if there is one, is to run what works best for the players he's got. He doesn't want to have a "blob" on usage distribution—wants you to worry about screens and downfield, outside runs and inside runs. Portal? UNC guys of interest (Hampton is probably going pro). Michigan's portal strategy: looking for guys they can get value. ZVADA is the epitome of portal success: a guy who's going to be more valuable to you. Part of that value is seeing if you can make more out of a player (Barham, Stewart, etc.) than he is. You're in a salary cap world. Kentucky guys? Miller Moss? Feeling different because he's getting big portal offers. Brendon Lewis—that would be a dude; he's a Year 6 guy, probably will come down to dollars because it's not certain there's an NFL future. Don't be too worried about Underwood in Year 1 because he's not turning 18 until August. Billy Edwards? Sam nodding. UMD had the worst OL, Edwards is a perfect example of a guy who looks a lot better as a 25x/game thrower. Hoops: Danny Wolf is the tallest 5-10 guy we've ever seen. Sucks to lose to Calipari. Craig says hit your free throws. In a dozen years we'll say "I remember getting beat like that by Boogie Fland in college."

Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return for the first in-season Helium Boys Podcast to react to the overreactions of USC's 56-28 win over San Jose State in the season opener. The Helium Boys discuss what should be the big takeaways from the blowout victory and what things should be taken with a grain of salt...at least for now. Shotgun and Chris break down the victory with Stock Up/Stock Down, discussing who impressed, including the obvious -- Zachariah Branch -- and those that might have flown a bit under the radar -- Branch's fellow freshman Elijah Hughes. The boys also take a look at the bigger themes that took a first step towards being developed in the opener and what has to be cleaned up in the next couple weeks to keep the pitchforks at bay. They preview this week's matchup against Nevada, who the Trojans have not played since 1929. Despite the nearly 100-year span between matchups, there should be some familiarity with several known faces on the other side from former Colorado quarterback Brendon Lewis, former Oregon running back Sean Dollars and most notably former Trojans wide receiver John Jackson III and edge rusher Elijah Winston. A podcast of the people, the Helium Boys also answer your USC mailbag questions about a number of topics spanning from the offensive line rotations to the top linebacker pairings and who were their standouts on the defensive side of the ball. Finally, the podcast concludes with Chris quizzing Shotgun with some "Take It or Leave It" prompts both from the Trojans' Week 0 win over the Spartans and inventions that debuted in the year the Wolf Pack and Trojans last played. Locked On Sun Devils - Daily Podcast On Arizona State Sun Devils Football & Basketball
The Colorado Buffalos football program hasn't been anything to write home about during its stay within the PAC-12 conference, but that doesn't mean they consistently roll over for their competition. Just ask the Texas A&M Aggies football program a year ago how tough the Buffs can make games on you. The storyline should remain relatively similar for Colorado in 2022 after watching 22 key players transfer out of the program last winter thanks to the beloved NCAA Transfer Portal. The Buffalos do have some intriguing young talent to get excited over, including quarterback Brendon Lewis. Lewis may have shown he needs a lot of work to grow, but he also displayed some awesome play-making ability that should give the fans down in Boulder, Colorado some inspiration on offense. Defensively, Colorado will be tasked with incorporating an extremely young secondary, but they seem to like the youngsters available to them. Head coach Karl Dorrell has certainly built a program that will fight you for 60 minutes, but will that continue in 2022? Host Richie Bradshaw gives his analysis on the 2022 Colorado Buffalos football program and how they stack up against our 2022 Arizona State Sun Devils football program for a late-October PAC-12 conference matchup on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast. Since joining the Pac-12 in 2011, Colorado Football has had just two winning seasons in the conference of champions. Oregon Football has been a thorn in their side, losing to the Buffaloes just once since 2011 (that came in 2016). The talent gap between these two rosters means that HOW Oregon wins the game is almost as important as IF they win the game. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by Rian Winter (@SportsChat503) to discuss what Oregon fans are hoping will be a "relaxing" week of cheering on the Ducks. Colorado's offense in 2021 was one of the weakest in the Pac-12, and right now their QB room has some uncertainty in it with JT Shrout expected to challenge Brendon Lewis for the starter's job. Losses on the offensive side of the ball via the transfer portal could make it another challenging year for the Colorado offense. Buffs' HC Karl Dorrell is a defensive head coach, but their defense struggled mightily in Autzen Stadium in 2021, surrendering 52 points to the Oregon offense. A couple transfers could potentially help, but losses in the secondary via the transfer portal could make them vulnerable. Locked On Pac-12 - Daily Podcast On Pac-12 Football & Basketball
Colorado Football has revamped their coaching staff around HC Karl Dorrell after finishing 4-8 in 2021. Brendon Lewis started all 12 games last year in his 2nd season on campus (first as a starter), but a QB battle is still expected with JT Shrout who is still working his way back from an injury. It's too soon to tell how that will play out since Colorado was missing a bevy of players who will be prominent come this Fall. On today's episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin takes a look at how Colorado Football is preparing for their third year under HC Karl Dorrell. Though there was far from a full compliment of starting-caliber bodies in Boulder at the showcase, several names still stood out. Baylor WR transfer RJ Sneed II could provide some much-needed explosiveness for an offense that was abysmal last season. Former offensive recruits (and HS teammates at Durango HS) Jordan Woolverton and Ben Finneseth have impressed Karl Dorrell in their transitions to safety from QB and WR, respectively. DE/OLB Jamar Montgomery could provide some important depth on the defensive front seven. In the offseason, the Buffaloes lost several players on the defensive side of the ball: CB Christian Gonzales (Oregon), CB Mekhi Blackmon (USC), and LBs Nate Landman and Carson Wells to the NFL Draft. As they look to build for the Fall, the Buffaloes should look to utilize the transfer portal to retool their defense this year. Offensively, new OC Mike Sanford has compared the program to Stanford circa 2007--one that is honest about where it's at but also driven by goals to compete in the conference. To round out the week, Spencer is joined by John Garcia Jr, the director of recruiting for Sports Illustrated. With all the Spring games happening, they discuss how much of an impact these games can have on recruits. Plus, a look at the to Pac-12 transfers for 2022. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! So, what's it like to be the starting quarterback for the University of Colorado?I am joined for this episode by sophomore quarterback Brendon Lewis. Lewis came to CU from Melissa, Texas, where he accounted for over 12,000 yards of total offense in high school. Enrolling early in January, 2020, Lewis was hit by the loss of his head coach one month into his collegiate career, with the sporting world shut down a month later. After a COVID season in which Lewis played in the Alamo Bowl, he was the starting quarterback for the 2021 season, throwing for over 1,500 yards, with ten touchdowns and only three interceptions. What was it about CU and Boulder which made it easier for Brendon to commit to Colorado in May of his junior year in high school? How does Brendon feel about competing this spring in a full quarterback room? What were his favorite two plays from the 2021 season? And ... Why should Brendon be lobbying for his hometown high school team to name its new stadium in his honor? ... Let's find out ...
The Colorado Buffaloes fell to the Utes today to finish up their season on Rivalry Weekend. Lots of takeaways from this one, but what are our takeaways from the Colorado Buffaloes season finale? What are our thoughts headed into next season with Karl Dorrell and Brendon Lewis? RK and Henry Chisholm come to you LIVE to break down everything you need to know in the world of the Colorado Buffaloes! Matt is joined once again by the man who called the amazing game between CU and Oregon State, the Voice of the Buffs Mark Johnson. Mark provides some perspective and analysis from the Buffs' double OT win over the Beavers as well as breakdown the game of CU QB, Brendon Lewis. It wasn't surprising that Colorado lost to No. 7 Oregon by 23 points. What was surprising was that the Buff offense, which had been in reverse gear for most of the season, made some headway on the road against the Ducks. Aside from the controversial ending (should the Ducks have taken a knee in the final minute, instead of going for style points?), Stuart, Brad and Neil will discuss the positives and the negatives from the 52-29 final. The Oregon State Beavers present a unique challenge for the Buffs on Homecoming weekend. Oregon State comes to Boulder with the nation's No. 11 rushing attack (a problem if Butkus Award semi-finalist Nate Landman can't play), but also have the 114th-ranked pass defense. Can the Brendon Lewis to Brenden Rice (with the return of La'Vontae Shenault) out-score the Oregon State offense? Let's find out ...
Henry and Dev go through the encouraging loss against the super house team that is Oregon. Brendon Lewis had a breakout game and there is hope for the future. The defense had a lot of slip-ups as they battled through the injuries.
The Colorado Buffaloes take on the Oregon Ducks this Saturday in what should be their toughest matchup of the season. CU fired AND hired an OL coach this week. Does the new coach make enough of a difference to protect Brendon Lewis from Kayvon Thibodeaux? RK and Henry Chisholm come to you LIVE from the DNVR Bar to break down everything you need to know in the world of the Colorado Buffaloes!
Henry and Dev go through the keys to victory for the big matchup on Saturday against Cal. The fellas are also feeling the basketball fever. They go through the Buffs Basketball roster and draft their starting 5. All that and much more!
Henry Chisholm digs into CU basketball's scrimmage and what to expect from Brendon Lewis and the Buffaloes this week.
Anyone want to complain about CU's first shutout of a conference opponent since 2005? (and the first shutout of any opponent since 2015?). Stuart, Brad and Neil take a look back at the Buffs' 34-0 win over hapless Arizona. It was only a 6-0 game in the third quarter before special teams and defensive touchdowns turned the tight game into a rout. Has quarterback Brendon Lewis turned the corner? Were the "subtle changes" made during the bye week enough to turn the Buffs into consistent winners in the second half of the 2021 season? We then turn our attention to the Buffs' road trip to face Cal. The Bears are 1-5 on the season, with their only victory over Sacramento State from the Big Sky Conference. And yet, Cal is a ten-point favorite to beat Colorado. Can the Buffs take their newly discovered formula for success on the road? Or will the big win over Arizona only prove to be an indictment of how far the Wildcats have fallen? Let's find out ...
Arizona vs. Colorado Pick Prediction 10/16/2021 by Tony T. Arizona at Colorado—College football pick is Arizona Wildcats +6.5. It will be backup Gunner Cruz under center for the Wildcats after Jordan McCloud out for the season with injury. Cruz is completing 67.5% of his throws and passed for 336 yards and 34 of 45 completions against BYU. Colorado a bad offensive team as they average 239 yards with 3.6 yards per rush. Buffaloes quarterback Brendon Lewis completing only 53.3% of his passes for an passing attack that averages 100 yards per game and 5.1 yards per pass attempt. Play Arizona +6.5.

After a brief stint away, Matt returns this week to talk some CU football with Voice of the Buffs, Mark Johnson. Colorado's most recent loss to Arizona State showed improvement on the offense but the overall consistency of the Buffs remains in question. What will it take for them to pull it together in time for USC this Saturday? Can Karl Dorrell pull the best QB he can out of Brendon Lewis? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Henry is joined by Ryan as they go through the disappointing loss against the Arizona State Sun Devils. Brendon Lewis is having a rough time running the offense but is the blame really all on him? The fellas are down bad and it's the perfect therapy session for all of Buffs faithful.
Colorado vs. Arizona St Pick Prediction 9/25/2021 by Tony T. Colorado at Arizona St—Free pick is Arizona St Sun Devils -14. Not much to like from this Colorado offense in their FBS games. Buffaloes at home in high elevation held to seven points to Texas A&M and were shut out last week against Minnesota. Colorado just 63 offensive yards against Minnesota after gaining 260 the week prior against the Aggies. They are converting only a 33% of their third downs. Buffs quarterback Brendon Lewis completing 55.4% of his passes with 4.3 yards per pass attempt. Arizona St a huge advantage at quarterback behind Jayden Daniels. The Sun Devils are running effectively for 224 yards and 5.6 yards per rush. Daniels is completing 73% of his passes with 8.4 yards per pass attempt. Colorado's lack of offense will keep the Buffaloes defense on the field too long in the hot desert. Sun Devils extend big in the second half. Play Arizona St -14.
Ryan Koenigsberg joins Henry Chisholm to talk about Colorado's game with Minnesota.
Texas A&M vs. Colorado Pick Prediction 9/11/2021 by Tony T. Texas A&M vs. Colorado—College football pick is Colorado Buffaloes +17. Texas A&M began 2021 with a blowout win against Kent from the MAC. Their have a first year starter at quarterback in Haynes King. It was a 10-3 lead at the half for the Aggies. King threw three interceptions in the win. Only five starters back on offense for Texas A&M. Colorado faced an FCS school in Northern Colorado in the opener and came away with the 35-7 win. First year quarterback Brendon Lewis completed 10 of his 15 passes with a touchdown in the win. Buffaloes return seventeen starters from a season ago. Colorado had a good ground attack last year and bring back top running backs. Game played in Denver so Buffalos have the advantage of playing high elevation and something that Texas A&M will be dealing with. Play Colorado +17.

Fall Camp, 2021, and it's time to take a unit-by-unit look at the Colorado offense. Stuart and Brad are joined by special guest Neil Langland, who will help answer the questions CU faces this fall: Will it be J.T. Shrout or Brendon Lewis who will be the starting quarterback? (Or will we not know for sure until the Texas A&M game?). How will the carries for the talented CU backfield be sorted out? Will there be a breakout star at wide receiver? Will THIS be the year of the tight end at CU? And, at the end of the day, will the Buff offensive line come together and give CU a chance to dominate games this fall? We'll then take a look at the big story of the summer, the defections of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC, and what this surprising move will mean to CU and the Pac-12.
The first Spring Game under Karl Dorrell was never destined to be a full spring game, but the CU 2021 Spring Showcase did give Buff fans a taste of where the program is heading into the 2021 season. Quarterbacks J.T. Shrout and Brendon Lewis made their cases for the top competition to Sam Noyer for the starting position, while several (of CU's many) tight ends gave Buff fans optimism that this will (finally) be the year tight ends are a part of the Buff offense. In addition, Stuart and Brad discuss the current state of the Pac-12's search for a new commissioner, and whether the future of the Pac-12 is dependent - at least in part - upon the expansion of the College Football Playoffs.
