The Chinese hackers behind the massive telecommunications sector breach are “largely contained” and “dormant” in the networks, “locked into the location they're in” and “not actively infiltrating information,” the top FBI cyber official told CyberScoop. But Brett Leatherman, new leader of the FBI Cyber division, said in a recent interview that doesn't mean the hackers, known as Salt Typhoon, no longer pose a threat. While there's been some debate about whether Salt Typhoon should be getting more attention than fellow Chinese hackers Volt Typhoon — whom federal officials have said are prepositioned in U.S. critical infrastructure, poised for destructive action in the event of a conflict with the United States — Leatherman said the groups aren't as different as some think. The number of telecommunications companies victimized in the United States stands at nine, according to Leatherman. The Pentagon's artificial intelligence acceleration hub recently moved to terminate its chief technology officer role and directorate after reviews associated with the Trump administration's spending and staff reductions campaign revealed inefficiencies, budget materials for fiscal 2026 reveal. Details on the decision are sparse in the documents, but officials wrote that the Chief Digital and AI Office's CTO “no longer exists or manages resources.” President Donald Trump directed federal agencies at the start of his second term to drastically reduce their workforces and assess existing contracts, with aims to ultimately cut back on what his team views as wasteful spending and inefficiencies. The efforts have included initiatives overseen by Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, teams. While AI is a major priority for the U.S. government under Trump, since then, the Pentagon's CDAO has seen an exodus of senior leaders and other technical employees. 12 core reasons why you can trust that the Bible is God'sWord to us. Do you know these 12? Memorize these because you can use them toshare the gospel with unbelievers and doubters. Reason #7 of 12.Here are bullet points on why it's so significant that there are over 24,000 manuscripts of the New Testament:Unmatched manuscript evidence: No other ancient document comes close to this level of preservation and verification.Textual reliability: With so many copies to compare, scholars can confidently reconstruct the original text with incredible accuracy.Proof of careful transmission: Shows that early Christians were committed to preserving and passing on God's Word faithfully.Eliminates doubt: The sheer volume of manuscripts leaves no room for the idea that the Bible was changed or corrupted over time.Historically credible: Provides more historical support than any other ancient writing, confirming the Bible's authenticity.

In this episode of the HVAC School podcast, Bryan welcomes back Jim to discuss the groundbreaking SureSwitch contactor technology from Copeland. This isn't just another incremental improvement - it's a complete reimagining of how contactors should work in modern HVAC systems. Jim brings his expertise and even demonstrates the technology with a special cutaway camera setup, giving listeners and viewers an inside look at this innovative solution. The conversation begins with the evolution of contactors in the HVAC industry, explaining how manufacturers moved backward from heavy-duty two-pole contactors to lighter, more cost-effective one-and-a-half pole designs. While this cost reduction made sense for manufacturers, it often left technicians dealing with more frequent failures and replacements. The SureSwitch represents a leap forward, combining the reliability of traditional heavy-duty contactors with modern electronic intelligence and enhanced protection features. One of the most compelling aspects of the SureSwitch is its multi-voltage coil capability, supporting 24V, 110V, and 240V applications with a single unit. This flexibility dramatically reduces inventory requirements for contractors and service companies, allowing one contactor to handle residential HVAC, refrigeration cases, ice machines, and pool heaters. The universal application makes it particularly valuable for smaller businesses that need to stock fewer SKUs while maintaining the ability to handle diverse applications. The technical innovation behind the SureSwitch's longevity is fascinating. Using an optical sensor (described as a "little eye" in the sealed chamber), the contactor monitors for electrical arcing during contact opening and closing. The built-in microprocessor analyzes the 60Hz AC sine wave and times the contact operation to occur at the zero-crossing point, eliminating destructive arcing. This "no-arc zone" operation, combined with latching contacts that prevent chatter during brownout conditions, results in contacts that remain clean and functional even after a million cycles - five times longer than traditional contactors. Key Topics Covered · Contactor Evolution and Industry Innovation o Historical perspective on contactor design changes from heavy-duty to cost-optimized o Why the HVAC industry needed to innovate forward rather than continue cost-cutting · Multi-Voltage Flexibility o Single contactor handles 24V, 110V, and 240V coil applications o Reduces inventory requirements and simplifies contractor operations o Applications include residential HVAC, refrigeration, ice machines, and pool heaters · Arc-Free Contact Technology o Optical sensor monitoring system for detecting electrical arcing o Microprocessor-controlled timing to operate at AC sine wave zero-crossing o Five times longer contact life compared to traditional contactors · Chatter Elimination and Latching Mechanism o Internal power supply eliminates dependency on weak control voltage o Magnetic latching system prevents contact bouncing during brownout conditions o Protection against undersized control wiring and long wire runs · Sealed Contact Chamber Design o 100% sealed contact chamber prevents insect and debris contamination o Eliminates common failure modes from ants, earwigs, and lizards o Reduces need for pest control interventions · Built-in Compressor Protection Features o Brownout protection with automatic voltage monitoring (184V threshold) o Random start delay (0-90 seconds) for multiple unit installations o Short cycle timer protection working independently of thermostat timers · Installation and Compatibility Considerations o Compatible mounting holes with standard contactors o Proper crankcase heater wiring configurations o Training considerations for technicians adapting to new terminal layout · Warranty and Business Applications o 10-year warranty vs. standard 1-year contactor warranties o Good-better-best selling scenarios for contractor businesses o Applications in high-end residential and commercial installations Learn more at the SureSwitch at http://www.hvacrschool.com/SureSwitch. In this episode of Grow By Design, we dive deep into Alex Hormozi's latest insights from the Modern Wisdom podcast and explore five game-changing business principles that every entrepreneur needs to understand. If you're a business owner struggling with direction, perfectionism, or leadership confidence, this episode will shift your perspective on what really matters in business and life.We break down Alex Hormozi's five key lessons for business success, starting with why your lowest-paying customers cause the most problems and how raising your prices actually reduces headaches while increasing profits. You'll discover why solving bigger problems is the fastest path to making more money, and how most business owners are stuck competing in oversaturated markets when they could easily move up to serve higher-value clients with less competition. This episode explores the critical difference between talking to customers who bought versus those who didn't, and how each conversation serves a completely different purpose in growing your business. We discuss why you rarely need more people or more clients - you just need better ones - and how focusing on quality over quantity transforms your entire operation. The episode concludes with a powerful mindset shift about relevance and ego in business. Drawing from Alex Hormozi's insights about Queen Elizabeth and the temporary nature of all success, we explore how understanding our own irrelevance can actually free us from fear and perfectionism. When you realize that none of it really matters in the grand scheme, you can focus on doing your best work without the paralyzing pressure of trying to be perfect.Whether you're in landscaping, service-based business, or any industry, these principles will help you charge more, serve better clients, and build a more profitable company while maintaining your sanity. This is essential listening for any entrepreneur who wants to grow their business without losing themselves in the process.

Send us a textJoin Nathan's guests David & Rob from Fornax and dive into the nitty-gritty of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) consultation and explore how third-party finance could be the key to unlocking widespread domestic heat pump adoption. We'll break down the "finance gap challenge," look at what makes third-party ownership work, and dissect the pros and cons of different financing models. In this episode, we discuss:The Finance Gap Challenge: Why current BUS grants alone aren't enough for mass market adoption and how existing loan products fall short for consumers and installers. The Power of Third-Party Ownership: How it dramatically increases heat pump installations by offering: Superior consumer protection: If the system fails, customers stop paying, and the financer is responsible for resolution.Risk alignment: Financiers are incentivized to ensure proper installation and ongoing performance.Better affordability and accessibility: Eliminates large upfront capital requirements.Support for installer businesses: Creates sustainable, predictable maintenance income. What Works: Consumer Hire vs. What Doesn't:Consumer Hire agreements: The only commercially viable third-party ownership model under UK regulation. Subject to robust FCA Consumer Duty protections—not "lightly regulated."Consumers have clear and simple mechanisms to keep their system; providers don't want them back! Why Hire Purchase models are problematic: Despite being highlighted in the consultation, they remain commercially unworkable due to existing financial regulations.Consumer Protection Reality Check:Consumer preference surveys don't equal deliverable products—regulatory constraints matter.Consumer protection isn't free: Every additional measure either limits access to affordable heat pumps or makes them more expensive/unworkable. Duplicative measures unfairly penalize consumers.Repossession rights are fundamental to risk pricing; removing them increases costs for all consumers (e.g., mortgages).Maximum term limits would reduce affordability and increase financial exclusion. Many proposed duplicative requirements (e.g., Ofgem doing things the FCA already does) deter small businesses and hinder independent installers.Innovation vs. Prescription Risk:Over-prescription risks stifling innovation just as the market gains momentum.Standard contract requirements could recreate past failures like the Green Deal/Green Homes Grant.THIS SEASON IS BEING SPONSORED BY INTERGAS Support the showLearn more about heat pump heating by followingNathan on Linkedin, Twitter and BlueSky

#614: The US just added 139,000 new jobs in May. That beat expectations. But the real story isn't in the job numbers — it's in the bond market. Something unusual is happening in bonds. Treasury yields are spiking. The dollar is weakening. That combination almost never happens together. And it's signaling concerns about future inflation. Trade wars continue on. A federal court just struck down some tariffs. The administration will appeal. Meanwhile, the EU has until July 9 to cut a deal. If they don't, 50 percent tariffs kick in. As a result, many companies are playing defense instead of growing. The debt situation keeps getting worse. We owe $36.2 trillion. That's more than we owed at the end of World War II as a percentage of our economy. Moody's just downgraded our credit rating. We're not alone — Britain's bonds just hit their highest levels since 1998. The accredited investor rules could finally change. Right now you need an income of $200,000 ($300,000 as a couple) or $1 million in net worth to access private markets. Those numbers haven't changed since they were written in 1982, even though adjusted for inflation, that $200,000 would be $662,000 today. The SEC might start loosening enforcement of the accredited investor rules. That could open up more investments to people who've been locked out for decades. Crypto is finding its footing. The SEC dropped cases against Coinbase. They're backing away from treating most crypto like securities. Bitcoin sits near all-time highs. The US keeps building its strategic Bitcoin reserve. The House just passed what's being called the "One Big Beautiful Bill." It extends 2017 tax cuts. Eliminates taxes on tips and overtime. The Congressional Budget Office says it'll add $2.4 trillion to the deficit over 10 years. That's sparked debate between deficit hawks and growth advocates — including one particularly high-profile debate that has been plastered across the headlines. Consumer sentiment stays stuck at 2022 lows. People expect 6.6 percent inflation. The actual rate is 2.3 percent. That gap between what the data says and what people feel shows up everywhere. We cover all of this in today's First Friday economic update. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Leslie is joined by Lily Roberts, Managing Director for Inclusive Growth at the Center for American Progress. The two first react to Senator Joni Ernst, after an audience member yells, “People will die,” during her discussion on Medicaid cuts at a town hall this morning, replying, “Well, we all are going to die.” Leslie and Lily then discuss the disastrous approach to food stamps (SNAP) in the House Republican passed 'Big Beautiful Bill.' The House-passed version: A. Would cut off some or all food assistance for 11 million people (4 million of those are kids) due to subjecting new groups of people (parents of young kids, older people, people who live in parts of the country where jobs are scarce) to additional paperwork requirements. B. Eliminates the national guarantee that whether you live in New York or Mississippi, you won't go hungry. This has been the bottom line of food support and anti-poverty in the US for 60 years. Now, states will be required to foot part of the bill for SNAP, which many of them can't afford. C. Guts SNAP as one of our best anti-recession tools – it keeps recessions from becoming depressions. SNAP immediately gets small dollars to the people who need money most, and it's spent nearly instantly in local communities. Funding changes and cuts will doubly punish states during recessions. That's important now, as we deal with economic uncertainty and a food safety net (food pantries, free school lunch, farmer grant programs) that have already been gutted by DOGE so can't step in to help. Join Jim and Greg for Tuesday's 3 Martini Lunch as they enjoy a rare all-good-news episode! Today, they discuss Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin finally hanging it up, major progress against terrorists, and the escalating fight between the DNC and David Hogg.First, Jim and Greg are glad to see Sen. Durbin announcing his retirement after next year. He's been on the wrong side of almost every issue for 30 years and he may be best remembered for some very ugly comments on the Senate floor. The sour side of this good martini is that Democrats will be heavy favorites to hold the seat.Next, they applaud a major counterterrorism success. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz reports that U.S. forces have eliminated 74 terrorist leaders in the first three months of the Trump administration. Additionally, 45 American hostages have been freed. Jim calls these significant victories but urges the administration to release more specifics to the public. Finally, they relish the growing turmoil inside the DNC. Chairman Ed Martin is preparing to demand that Vice Chair David Hogg stop backing primary challengers to Democratic incumbents or resign. But with Hogg promising combative primaries regardless of his role, Jim and Greg look forward to costly, divisive battles in Democratic primaries across the country. Please visit our great sponsors:Cut through political bias with Ground News's Vantage Plan—visit https://GroundNews.com/MARTINI to get 40% off for a limited time!Streamline and scale your customer communications with OpenPhone. Watch the YouTube version of this episode HEREAre you a business owner who is looking to learn about running a more successful firm? In this episode of the Maximum Lawyer Podcast, Tyson interviews Mike Payne, the founder of BOSS Advisors, about his pioneering journey in establishing an alternative business structure (ABS) that combines legal and accounting services. Mike, a lawyer and CPA, shares his motivations, challenges, and the regulatory landscape in Arizona that allowed him to create this unique firm. Being able to provide clients with multiple services is such a huge benefit to a business owner and can make one look desirable to clients who want more than one thing. Mike shares his insights in marketing to clients who might want multiple services. For Mike, marketing to these clients involves providing them with services that go hand in hand, like legal and accounting support. Without having to register as a CPA, Mike is able to help business owners with their taxes, provide bookkeeping services and legal services. For a firm that has 5 different departments all doing different work, it is inevitable that silos will exist. It is easy for people to learn or share knowledge within their own teams. For Mike, it is important to eliminate silos and ensure there is cross collaboration and information sharing. This happens through training that is provided across departments. For example, accountants are provided training from an attorney's perspective on how things work and vice versa. A successful business will ensure to show how all roles affect each other and encourage collaboration.Listen in to learn more!04:00 Ideal Client Profile 10:53 ABS Application Process 13:29 Stigma of Working with Lawyers 18:53 Annual Re-evaluation for ABS 22:30 Global Perspective on ABS 30:41 Starting the Firm 43:14 Transition to Remote Work Tune in to today's episode and checkout the full show notes here.
