We've got a movie review! Mickey17 is out and I highly recommend it! Plus its a great placeholder before Verdansk returns to Warzone in a few weeks! Also in the news Pokémon GO is now somehow owned by the Saudis, Jeff Bezos really said FAFO, and even Minecraft is getting a popcorn bucket. Plus and Xbox handheld may be closer than you think, Kevin Conroy has another posthumous role, and major casting news for Spider-Man 4.

Winding down their coverage of the Chronicles of Ashlar, Jack and Geoff discuss the last three issues of Dark Horse's short-lived POTA series, Bloodlines! Amidst the wildly-vacillating art, same old same-old storylines and surprising number of decapitations, the ape hosts also find time to discuss Darth Vader, fancy grownup words from old Star Wars and Calvin & Hobbes comics, and their thoughts on the Burtonverse as a whole. Goodbye Ashlar, it's been nice…

Hey everyone, new episode here and we are going to try and release more frequently ( albeit a little shorter length.. but size dosed matter right?) on a roughly twice a month schedule. This is on a trial basis so we will see how the first month shapes up and go from there. On this episode we talk about the recently revealed Batman 89 comic book series that will continue the "Burtonverse" after the events of Batman Returns. Then we talk about how we are super excited for the Batman Forever Hot Toys figures and how Robin's cloth is crazy huge on that figure. Lastly, we talk about Super7 teasing the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ultimates Wave 5 figures and make a guess at the 4th figure reveal. At the time of the recording it hadn't been revealed so feel free to laugh at how wrong we are about of opinions! Thanks to all of you that have subscribed and feel free to reach out to us on our socials or email. Instagram: playwithitpodcastshow Twitter: @playwithitpod Email: mail@playwithitpodcast.com
In this final episode before Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes, Jack & Geoff take a look at two fun-sized lesser-known comics from Dark Horse's early-00s Apes run: a short tale featured in Dark Horse Extra, and the Toys “R” Us Collector's comic! These stories—featuring Attar and Thade respectively—may not be substantial (or even essential), but there is fun to be had within their slim page counts. Also: human/ape hybrid talk, POTA gets its own version of Sybok, and a certain Dr. gets his own YouTube talk show!
Inching ever-closer to the Burton POTA remake, Jack and Geoff take a gander at Resistance, the second and final prequel novel—for the younger reader—written by John Whitman. With the plague behind them, Sarai and her daughter Danae find themselves enslaved and forced to build a grand new temple of Semos, under the villainous thumb of Colonel Thade and his cadre of murderous apes! Will Ari be able to help her human friends? Will Attar summon some ape-manity from the depths of his newly-pious soul? Will Jack and Geoff repeatedly bring up The Legend of Zelda? Listen and learn, Ape faithful!
This week Mike is doing a book review on Charles Soule's Light Of The Jedi as well as giving an overview in the new era of Star Wars; The High Republic! For more detail, for the first 20 minutes, Mike gives some information on The High Republic era (set 200 years before The Phantom Menace) before delving into the review - his reviews are split into 3 parts; the first is completely spoiler free, with some vague information on the book's themes, vehicles & etc while the second will have some very light spoilers, plot details and character information with the last part giving more information about certain aspects and Mike reads out a single page that he believes give a good insight into the book as a whole, but for clarity, he does not spoil the story or what happens to any characters in this recording. Light Of The Jedi was released January 5th 2021 by Charles Soule who has also written Star Wars comics including; The Rise Of Kylo Ren mini-series (ep 1 of SWCIC) the Obi-Wan & Anakin mini-series (ep 11 of SWCIC), the Lando mini-series (ep 18 of SWCIC), as well as the 31-issue run of Poe Dameron and 25-issue run of Darth Vader comics (2017) – Mike will be tackling the Poe & Vader series in the future too! Other High Republic content currently available includes; A Test Of Courage – a young reader novel by Justina Ireland, Into The Dark – a young adult novel by Claudia Gray (who Mike spoke with on SWCIC on December 12th), The High Republic comics by Cavan Scott and High Republic Adventures comics by Daniel José Older, plus Cavan Scott has the “sequel” novel to Light Of The Jedi coming out on July 6th 2021. In the last episode of SWCIC (episode 47), Mike tackled the 6 Heroes stories in the Age Of Rebellion one-shot comic series (from original trilogy); Leia in “Princess Scoundrel”, Han (& Chewie) in “Running From The Rebellion”, Lando in “Cloud City Blues”, Luke in “Fight Or Flight”, Yoda in “The Trial Of Dagobah” and Biggs Darklighter & Porkins in “Stolen Valor”, plus Mike also gives additional information about each of the characters, connections, species and more!! Mike now has a Patreon, where this review was released a day early and there's an exclusive new show “Afterthoughts”, with 2 episodes being *FREE* to anyone – one of which is S1 of the Witcher series and the other is The Phantom Menace, as Mike & Megan have started a full Star Wars run-through! Plus there are unsplit full-length episodes of his other show, Genuine Chit-Chat, additional photos (including early access to photos of comics for this show) and more, so if you want to support the show and get more content, check it out at http://patreon.com/genuinechitchat Mike was recently on Podcasts We Listen To, speaking about his show Genuine Chit-Chat and next week he talks all about this show and his love of Star Wars: http://spoti.fi/3uus0PT Mike appeared on episode 76 Frank Burton's Ragbag podcast: http://spoti.fi/3aLgx5e Mike & Megan were on the Batman retrospective on 20th Century Geek, all parts are out where they discuss Batman '66, the Burtonverse movies, Mask Of The Phantasm & the Dark Knight trilogy, part 1 here: https://spoti.fi/3sTeN2m Find Mike @GenuineChitChat on Twitter, @Genuine_ChitChat on Instagram & /GenuineChitChat on Facebook! This week features the 6 Heroes stories in the Age Of Rebellion one-shot comic series (from original trilogy); Leia in “Princess Scoundrel”, Han (& Chewie) in “Running From The Rebellion”, Lando in “Cloud City Blues”, Luke in “Fight Or Flight”, Yoda in “The Trial Of Dagobah” and Biggs Darklighter & Porkins in “Stolen Valor”, plus Mike also gives additional information about each of the characters, connections, species and more! The 4 main Age Of Republic comics were written by Greg Pak with Tamra Bonvillain as colourist and the following artists did artwork for these stories; Marc Deering, Chris Spouse, Karl Story, Will Sliney, Matteo Buffagni, Scott Koblish and Stefano Landini. The Yoda story (in AoR special) was written by Marc Guggenheim, with Andrea Broccardo as artist and Dono Sánchez-Almara as the colour artist, while the Biggs Darklighter/Porkins story was written & drawn by Jon Adams while Chris O'Halloran did the colours. Leias's comic and the AoR Special were released in April 2019, with Luke Skywalker's released June 2019 (with the other stories released in-between). The AoR Heroes trade paperback was released in August 2019 while the AoR hardcover (with heroes & villains) was released June 2020. The characters in this episode have also had a variety of mini-series between them so check out episodes; 14 for Leia, 24 & 40 for Han, 18 & 37 for Lando, 33 for Yoda and 22 for Chewbacca, as well as the variety of the main run of Star Wars comics for the usual trio! For the AoR villains, check out episode 43 of SWCIC and for the prequel-era Age Of Republic stories, check out episodes; 2 for Maul, 26 for Dooku, 31 for Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon, 35 for Jango Fett, Grievous & Asajj Ventress and 39 for the Padmé, Anakin, Mace Windu and Jar Jar & Rex stories. Mike will be tackling the Age Of Resistance Heroes & Villains shortly too, so be sure to subscribe for that! The short animated Leia story about her obtaining Boushh's armor is an episode of Forces Of Destiny called Bounty Hunted. In the last episode of SWCIC (episode 46), Mike tackled the weirdest (& potentially the best) instalment of Doctor Aphra so far, where Aphra has been enslaved by the homicidal protocol droid Triple-Zero to assemble a crew to steal his lost memories from some of the most secure imperial archive facilities, causing further entanglement with imperial Magna Tolvan, the capture of rebel general Hera Syndulla, setting imperial experiments free and much more! Mike now has a Patreon, where there's an exclusive new show “Afterthoughts” (with 2 episodes being *FREE* to anyone – one of which is S1 of the Witcher series and the other is The Phantom Menace, as Mike & Megan have started a full Star Wars run-through), plus there are unsplit full-length episodes of GCC, additional photos (including early access to photos of comics for this show) and more, so if you want to support the show and get more content, check it out at http://patreon.com/genuinechitchat Mike was recently on Podcasts We Listen To, speaking about his show Genuine Chit-Chat and next week he talks all about this show and his love of Star Wars: http://spoti.fi/3uus0PT Mike appeared on episode 76 Frank Burton's Ragbag podcast: http://spoti.fi/3aLgx5e Mike & Megan were on the Batman retrospective on 20th Century Geek, all parts are out where they discuss Batman '66, the Burtonverse movies, Mask Of The Phantasm & the Dark Knight trilogy, part 1 here: https://spoti.fi/3sTeN2m Find Mike @GenuineChitChat on Twitter, @Genuine_ChitChat on Instagram & /GenuineChitChat on Facebook! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/comics-in-motion-podcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/comics-in-motion-podcast/support

Quick's 2002 novel The Fall, which details the fates of the movie's non-Wahlbergian spacefaring humans and their gengineered ape companions. Sam Stovold is along for the ride, and while the humans, apes and Brax may fall, our hosts' estimation of this surprisingly engaging work only continues to rise!

This week, with the Pentagon releasing video footage of what appears to be UFOs, we figured why not look at what the worst case scenario would be for an alien attack by examining the 1996 Tim Burton interstellar classic, Mars Attacks! Boasting a deep ensemble cast including such luminaries as Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, and a yet to be famous Jack Black, the film is often forgot about when discussing the work of Tim Burton. It isn't quite the masterpiece of Edward Scissorhands but it isn't the abomination of Alice in Wonderland or pretty much anything released by the filmmaker after 2000. So why did this film get lost in the Burtonverse and is it really that awful? MERCH AND ANNOUCEMENTS Our co-host, John Wooliscroft, has a brand new film channel on youtube. Catwoman! It's probably the worst movie we've watched yet. You'd think that it wouldn't get much worse than Batman Forever and Robin but Pitof proved us all wrong didn't he.Plus!Halle Berry realised this was rubbish to the point where she even accepted a Razzie in person! She probably deserved better but listen to what her acceptance speech in Part 2!Also!Is there a villain? or a plot? or anything more than a series of music videos strung together? We'll try and work it out I guess. Thanks for downloading! For anything you want email isitabirdpod@gmail.com and find us on twitter @isitabirdpod
Batman and Robin! And Batgirl too! It never made sense to me that she doesn't get a namecheck in the title. It's a weird movie this one in that even though it is completely terrible; neither of us actually hated it. It's fun. We think?Plus!George Clooney will give you money from his own pocket if you approach him in the street and tell him you saw it and hated it. True story. Also!Mr Freeze went from one of the dumbest villain in Batman's rogue gallery to being arguably one of the most sympathetic villains in all of comic books. Batman Forever! He's not just for Christmas after all.You will hear a fine old breakdown of plot, characters, alternative castings and a bit of history on the various Robins.Plus!Who hates Jim Carey?
