Pastor Ed Rea Acts 22:17-23:11 | Caught Between a Rock and a Hard Place In the second half of Acts 22, Paul finds himself between a rock and a hard place—caught between an angry crowd of Orthodox Jews, furious at his declaration that the gospel was also for the Gentiles, and Roman authorities disturbed by the commotion. Sometimes, life doesn't go like we hoped or planned, and we face challenges on all sides. Yet, in these moments, we can depend on God to meet us and strengthen us. Often, it's in our darkest times that God does His most powerful work. Outline: 1) Don't Mention Gentiles: verses 17-22 2) Don't Mention Scourging: verses 23-30 3) Don't Mention Good Cheer: verses 1-11 Packinghouse's Sunday morning worship service from October 27, 2024. Thank you to Mississippi's own R&B artist TA Thomas for coming on my show for an interview! TA Thomas discussed his new album Caught Between 2 Worlds, wanting to showcase the southern soul to the mainstream, and the pain of losing his mother during the year of the pandemic. He talked about the message of his song Pros and Cons, not feeling the pressure of becoming a solo artist, and Next Town Down always being a collective instead of a group. He got into his album taking over Times Square in New York, the support he has received from Brandy, and wanting to get into acting. Stay tuned! This week on Transmissions, we're settling in for a tremendous conversation with Jason Stern and Don Fleming of the Lou Reed Archive. A decade on from his passing in 2013, Lou Reed's work remains as vital as ever, thanks in no small part to the efforts of people like Jason and Don. Working together with Laurie Anderson, they've helped bring a number of projects into existence, including the New York Public Library's Caught Between the Twisted Stars exhibit, which runs through March 4th, and last year's revelatory demos collection Words and Music: May 1965. Next month sees the release of a new book, The Art Of The Straight Line, which assembles Reed's unpublished musings on tai chi, music, and meditation. Both Jason and Don are, on their own, fascinating music lifers. In addition to his own bands, like Velvet Monkeys and Gumball, Fleming has worked with Sonic Youth, Teenage Fanclub, Nancy Sinatra, and many more. His work as an archivist is equally impressive, and it's found him working with the Alan Lomax, Hunter S. Thompson, and Ken Kesey estates. Meanwhile, Jason worked directly with Laurie Anderson and Lou in his final years. This talk covers fascinating aspects of Lou Reed's life, offers insight into his art, addresses controversies, and much more. Transmissions is produced in partnership with Talkhouse Podcast Network. Aquarium Drunkard is powered by its Patreon supporters. We'll be back next Wednesday with Philip Selway of Radiohead. Subscribe to Aquarium Drunkard Transmissions so you don't miss it. This transmission is concluded.

Metal Breakfast Radio - Episode 44.2 - PART TWO (A show of 2 halves.) “We all seem that way, even if we're not but secretly are.” It's time for the MBR Xmas Crustmas Banana Bonanza! Not that it's any different from other episodes, though it does have a guest in the form of Mads Haarløv from Danish death dealers and sludge guzzlers UNDERGANG. He's also Dave's mate, and he brought beer. Speaking of which, a hearty shout out and thank you from all the MBR crew, to Magister Gene for the beer money. Nighest of swans! The show ran over, so was split into 2 halves, and at the end of each features some tracks from Dave's upcoming projects as an Xmas bonus to our beloved listeners, as well as a bit of an explanation. So sit back, relax, stretch your sack, and check out the show. It goes downhill pretty fast. That will be the beer. On this Solstice shredding show you'll be getting: Confessions of joint nudity very early on. The “Woop” count, updated. Polite Danes making erotic advances to Dave, who apparently looked homeless. Inadvertently summoning Finnish demons. Packets of guilt left out in the rain. Mads has art, and it's a load of old wank. Nostalgic cracker tales and Heavy Metal friends. Passion fruit flavoured banana beer. And it's utter bollocks. Random Bludgeon Geography! What do Welsh androids dream of? C*** is the new F*** Due to some fantastic editing skills, the ZZ top cover went down incredibly well. Until it didn't. Austrian bands from down under, mouths full of meatballs, and Muppet Satanists. Nostalgia for OG Metal Breakfast, and a possible home invasion at Spenceley's place. Part 1 finale tracks: Hellfrost & Fire - “Legion of Hellfrost and Fire” & “Black Secrets in the Splintering Walls” Formaldehydist - “Piss-soaked Lingerie” & “Caught Between a Cock and a Flight Case” Part 2 finale tracks: Formaldehydist - “Chunder on the Tundra” & “Alcohol By Volume (Turn That Fucker Up)” Hellfrost & Fire - “The Lost King and The Heir Apparent” Follow us on Facebook for regular updates: www.facebook.com/metalbreakfastradio INFO, ARCHIVE & GENERAL COCKING ABOUT: www.darksentinel.dk/mbr.html INSTAGRAM & TWITTER: @MetalBreakfast FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com/MetalBreakfastRadio PayPal Donations gratefully accepted: Lapdog1@mac.com

Today, we are joined by Dr. Jamaal Bowman, who was recently elected as the Democratic candidate for Congress for District 16 in New York and is a former Bronx principal. Join us for a conversation with Dr. Bowman where we discuss how his experience as a principal using restorative justice practices, building community by connecting with students and families, and advocating for better student outcomes where there is space for real world learning, led him to running for Congress and the creation of the New Deal for Education and Reconstruction Agenda. We also talk about how it is the time for people who are really about change to step up and be leaders in this moment of revolution. Visit our Bronx ARTeam Website and connect with us on twitter @Bx_ARTeam! Today's hosts are Kris DeFilippis, Jermaine Dickerson, Adelia Gibson, and Kaitlyn Reilley. Guest Information: Dr. Jamaal Bowman was born and raised in NYC until the age of 16 when he moved to New Jersey with his family. Bowman graduated undergrad with a degree in Sports Management from the University of New Haven but chose to pursue education instead. He earned a Master of Arts degree in counseling from Mercy College and a Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Manhattanville College. He worked first as a crisis management teacher in an elementary school in the South Bronx. In 2009, Bowman founded Cornerstone Academy for Social Action, a high performing Middle School in the Baychester section of the Bronx. During his tenure as a school building leader, Bowman was an advocate against standardized testing, citing their connection to the perpetuation of inequality and ultimately reinforcing a negative relationship with what should be called bad education. After 10 years as principal, Bowman pursued the democratic candidacy and beat out long standing rep for the 16th congressional district, Eliot Engel. Jamaal currently resides in Yonkers with his wife and 3 children. For 20 years Jamaal advocated for the students in the schools he served and will continue to be a champion of children and working families when elected to Congress. Connect with Jamaal on twitter @JamaalBowmanNY or by visiting his website, Jamaal Bowman for Congress. “Diamond Fanged Black Feline, pt. 1”. “Caught Between a Wall Made of Ice and a Silent Goodbye”. “Her Purple Dress with Thin Black Stripes”.
