In Hour 2… (6:05) ESPN's Dalen Cuff joined to kick off Hour 2 with a preview of the 2025 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The guys and Dalen hit on some of the biggest names to watch for in this year's tournament, such as Duke, Florida and Houston, as well as hitting on Rick Pitino and his current St. John's squad after winning their first Big East title in over 25 years. (15:20) Mike Golic Jr's old collegiate coach, Charlie Weis, stopped by to talk through a few different things with the guys. First, they discussed some of his time coaching the Fighting Irish, as well as coaching Mike Jr himself, but then transitioned into what his son, Charlie Weis Jr is up to these days. Charlie Jr. currently serves as OC and QBs coach of Ole Miss, and Charlie Sr. had strong opinions on the rise of Jaxson Dart during the 2025 Draft Process. Charlie didn't have a bad thing to say about Dart, and understands why he continues to climb draft boards, such as Mel Kiper Jr's third mock draft of the season. (30:18) We've got a source off! In Hour 1, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network discussed how the Minnesota Vikings were effectively out on QB Aaron Rodgers after informing teams they're not trading QB J.J. McCarthy. During the second hour, The Athletic's Diana Russini tweeted “There's no ‘in' or ‘out' on Aaron Rodgers from Minnesota—they're simply not making a decision at this time.” The guys discuss if there's still a chance Rodgers ends up following in Brett Favre's footsteps and ends up in Minneapolis, as well as continuing the convo from Hour 1 on what they're expecting, if anything, from Rodgers' free agency process. Locked On Ole Miss - Daily podcast on Ole Miss Rebels Football, Basketball & Baseball
Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the importance of Nick Saban on this Ole Miss Rebels football team for Lane Kiffin. It is a team with Jaxson Dart and Walter Nolen that will have plenty of expectations and Kiffin is leaning on his Saban lessons and building up those points with assistant coaches that have Alabama and Nick Saban backgrounds. Wes Neighbors, Pete Golding and Joe Cox join Lane Kiffin as on the field coaches with an Alabama Crimson Tide background but Charlie Weis Jr and William Vlachos also spent time in that building. In the second segment of the show we talk Cayden Lee as the WR Story of spring practice so far and he is someone that has gotten the upperclassmen attention and new WR coach George McDonald is even starting to move this guy around on the field. This is impressive for a guy that is competing with Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins and Ayden Williams and Juice Wells and Deion Smith will be coming soon. In our final segment of the day we talk about College Football 2.0 and whether or not you like it it appears to be here and the Rise of Personnel departments will be the next wave of college football and Ole Miss Rebels just hired a Personnel guy with 20 years NFL experience with the San Francisco 49ers and St Louis Rams to their personnel department that is becoming quite varied. Locked On Ole Miss - Daily podcast on Ole Miss Rebels Football, Basketball & Baseball
Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about Jaxson Dart and the role he has played off the field displaying a magnetic personality in recruiting this 2024 football team. We talk about his development in Year three under Lane Kiffin and what that may look like with a WR corps of Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins, Deion Smith and Juice Wells. We talk about how this team he will be the face off and if it hits the success predicted for the Ole Miss Rebels in the CFB Playoff, Dart becomes the face of that as well. The only thing close to what could converge is the Archie Manning mania. Ole Miss fans should prepare for this to go off the chain. In the second segment of the show we talk about why Cayden Lee and Ayden Williams have a massive spring practice and they have the opportunity to really cement themselves to Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr as being trustworthy members of the WR corps that deserve playing time.George McDonald has a really talented room with Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins, Cayden Lee, Ayden Williams and the young guys…not to forget Caden Prieskorn and Dae'quan Wright to make this receiving corps the best in college football. In our final segment of the day we talk about the Southern Miss Golden Eagles picking this year to chirp at recent National Champion Ole Miss and Mississippi State and proceeding to lose to both of them. https://thegrovecollective.com/marchtovictory WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the National narrative of the Ole Miss Rebels going all in on the 2024 12 Team College Football playoff and this is the Last Dance for the Ole Miss Rebels and why that Lane Kiffin is building this roster with more staying power than just that.Jaxson Dart will have many different targets like Tre Harris, Juice Wells and Jordan Watkins with Caden Prieskorn and Ole Miss used the Portal to beef up their defense for Pete Golding and you can see why people would make 2024 Playoffs or bust. In the second segment of the show we talk about the way Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr and Pete Golding is building up tent pole rooms in College Football such as the Quarterback room with Walker Howard and Austin Simmons to make sure the most important position in College Football has continuity and Looking at Wide Receiver with Tre Harris and those guys but Ayden Williams, Noreel White and Cayden Lee are players in the pipeline too.The last tentpole is Defensive Line where Walter Nolen and Princely Umanmielen will join JJ Pegues and Jared Ivey will get the headlines this year but Kamarion Franklin, William Echoles, Jeffrey Rush and Kam Beavers are part of a Top 5 defensive line class for 2024 and shows the work Ole Miss is doing there. In our final segment of the day we talk about Ole Miss and the Transfer Portal and how it will always be a large part of the Ole Miss recruiting strategy but Ole Miss having good situations in those tent pole positions will make the money go farther for the Grove Collective and Lane Kiffin. https://thegrovecollective.com/marchtovictory WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the Ole Miss Rebels offense for Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr in 2024. Most everyone will rightly focus on Jaxson Dart but the key for success for Ole Miss football might lie with Ulyssess Bentley IV and Kedrick Reescano at running back. We look at the Florida Atlantic Owls who Lane Kiffin coached from 2017-2019 and their run/pass mix with and without Devin Singletary to provide a road map to what the offense may look like in 2024. We also discuss why the running game may be better while being used less in 2024. In the second segment of the show we talk about the NCAA doing NCAA things right now with the discussion about adding and moving ESD to add a third national signing day. Coaches have started complaining about December being too crowded and with the Transfer Portal rightly dominating High School Recruiting has been affected. In the second segment of the show we talk about the talent being brought in currently and the Wide Receiver Room will not be the only one affected. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the Tight End room and focus on how good of shape the Ole Miss Rebels and Lane Kiffin are in right now in that room starting with Caden Prieskorn after he took apart the "#1 Defense" in the Penn St Nittany Lions. They recruiting Dae'quan Wright from the Virginia Tech Hokies as a plus pass catcher with over 50 catches in two years at Virginia Tech. Then you have Jayvontay Conner, Hudson Wolfe and new signee Dillon Hipp to make that a favorable room for Jaxson Dart and Charlie Weis Jr. In the second segment of the show we talk about Matt Corral signing with the UFL and the Birmingham Stallions to play a little spring football. The former Carolina Panther draft pick will be an important cog in the fledgling spring league and it could be a spring board for getting back to the NFL. That wasn't it as Jordan Ta'amu is returning to the DC Defenders and DeMarquis Gates will join Corral in Birmingham. In our final segment of the day we talk about Baseball Opening Day arriving with the Ole Miss Baseball team playing the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in a four game set this weekend in Honolulu. First pitch will be at about 10:30 CT and it will be broadcast on ESPN+. Either way it is good that baseball has arrived and we can all kick off our spring. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about how Lane Kiffin, Charlie Weis Jr and Pete Golding plan on making tweaks to the Ole Miss Rebels roster ahead of the 2024 Football Schedule. We look first at the Running Back position and Ulysses Bentley IV and Kedrick Reescano being the front runners for the position and Logan Diggs the transfer from the LSU Tigers. Due to injuries and threats that is probably the most pressing place for Ole Miss in the Secondary Transfer Portal Window. In the second segment of the show we talk about how Chris Beard may have unlocked his team in a losing effort with the South Carolina Gamecocks Tuesday night. Beard's decision to sit Jaemyn Brakefield and Juju Murray for a long stretch of the second half for a more defensive lineup nearly worked at the Ole Miss Basketball team almost erased a 17 pt deficit in the second half. Ole Miss get the Kentucky Wildcats this coming Tuesday. In our final segment of the day we talk about the coaches inside the SEC do not seem to favorably view Ole Miss Baseball and rate them toward the bottom of the SEC. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the reasons Ole Miss Football and Lane Kiffin will defeat the Georgia Football team and Kirby Smart. This is a monster match up between Top 10 teams and will be the most important game for Jaxson Dart, Quinshon Judkins and Tre Harris. It is another game where the importance of Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr being schematically sound to protect the Offensive Line will be important. In the second segment of the show we talk about how important it will be that Ole Miss Football and Jaxson Dart stays on schedule how Quinshon Judkins and Tre Harris will need to do their part. Caden Prieskorn, Jordan Watkins and Dayton Wade will be important as the Georgia Defense focuses on Tre Harris and Quinshon Judkins. In our final segment of the day we talk about game predictions and I talk about this game is why Pete Golding was brought in and specifically his pass rush will be important to affect Carson Beck and Mike Bobo's Georgia Offense. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the need for Jaxson Dart, Quinshon Judkins to play like the stars we need them to be against the Georgia Bulldogs. This game is the ultimate free shot type game which should be an advantage for Dart and Judkins with Tre Harris as well. Ole Miss Football and Charlie Weis Jr needs its stars to play like stars against a Georgia Football team that RARELY loses. In the second segment of the show we talk about how this is set up for Ole Miss Football to put together its first full game of the season. This team for Lane Kiffin has dominated the first and fourth quarters but has an issue with the middle of the football game. Avoiding that lull will be important against the Georgia Bulldogs. In our final segment of the day we talk about Ole Miss needing to really believe they can win instead of just hoping to win in order to avoid the Georgia avalanche that they live off of in 2023. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the reasons that Ole Miss Football and Lane Kiffin will defeat the Texas A&M Football team and Jimbo Fisher. This is the second game in the three game set that gets progressively harder for Jaxson Dart, Qunshon Judkins, Tre Harris and Caden Prieskorn. It will be important for Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr to use scheme to help the Offensive Line out. In the second segment of the show we talk about that even though Texas A&M Aggies have an unbelievably respected defensive line, Pete Golding has one of his own. Cedric Johnson, Jared Ivey and Isaac Ukwu have a real chance to get their name out there in this game vs A&M and DJ Durkin. In our final segment of the day we talk about how important it will be to limit explosive plays and play clean and gave an example vs the Auburn Tigers of how a game can get sideways. We look back at our Tuesday and Wednesday show as a reminder and look in on this games line and my score prediction. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about what is at stake for Jaxson Dart the next two weeks and how important it is for the legacy of the young quarterback. Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr will obviously need to put him in position to be successful but if they do with Quinshon Judkins, Ulysses Bentley, Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins and Dayton Wade. The weapons are in place for Jaxson Dart to make a real run. In the second segment of the show we talk about 27 minutes of Time of Possession, which normally is a stat I hate but if Ole Miss runs their offense as normal and gets some first downs 27 minutes seems like the magic number for Ole Miss to wear down the Texas A&M Aggie defense and help out Jared Ivey, Suntarine Perkins and company. In our final segment of the day we talk about what Ulysses Bentley and Quinshon Judkins will look like in the fourth quarter. That will be a major indication that Ole Miss football is taking over the game and something special is coming. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Locked On Ole Miss - Daily podcast on Ole Miss Rebels Football, Basketball & Baseball
Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about how this football game for Jaxson Dart and Quiinshon Judkins will look like 1990's SEC Football disguised as 2020's SEC Football as the trench play will be the key in this game. We will start by talking about how Ole Miss can neutralize that rush and we look at the diverse attack that Ole Miss has developed this year under Charlie Weis Jr and Lane Kiffin. With Jordan Watkins, Dayton Wade and Tre Harris all currently sitting over 500 yards receiving we are looking at a diverse offense where you can't just take stuff away. In the second segment of the show we talk about both defensive lines and linebackers are within the Top 10 for Sacks and TFLs and while Texas A&M and DJ Durkin are #1 in both categories, Ole Miss and Pete Golding are in the Top 10 at #4 in Sacks and #8 in TFLs. It will come down to which offensive line can protect their Quarterback, Max Johnson or Jaxson Dart, to win this football game. In our final segment of the day we talk about a way that Ole Miss can schematically nullify the Texas A&M Pass Rush and that is through tempo after the snap. We compared what the offense looked like against the Alabama Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers and talked about what Ole Miss did differently in a game where they were in a talent deficiency. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the growth of Jaxson Dart as Lane Kiffin's signal caller and his performance through seven games this year. We look at how he has performed more often than not when he gets called upon and Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr can now just focus on getting his surrounding weapons on the football field and in a position for Tre Harris, Caden Prieskorn and Quinshon Judkins to make plays. We wonder where Jaxson Dart fits on the pantheon of Ole Miss Quarterbacks and where he stacks up against recent greats. In the second segment of the show we talk about Pete Golding's explosive defense that he is building and how refreshing it is the growth that we have seen from that unit. It was a unit built on explosive plays by that front seven including Jared Ivey, Cedric Johnson, Isaac Ukwu and Suntarine Perkins that has started to create turnovers through John Saunders, Zamari Walton and Daijahn Anthony. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the reasons the Ole Miss Rebels and Lane Kiffin will defeat the Auburn Tigers and Hugh Freeze. This game will be about playing well on the road and not let an Auburn Football team that is devoid of confidence get confidence. Will Payton Thorne or Robby Ashford get the call at Quarterback and will Quinshon Judkins and Ulysses Bentley IV show out. Jaxson Dart at Quarterback my be the difference for Charlie Weis Jr and the Ole Miss Football offense. In the second segment of the show we talk about how this game will require Ole Miss to play boring. The goal is for every series to end with a kick and avoid those major momentum swinging plays that can help Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers. Force Payton Thorne and Robby Ashford to drive 80 yards and if they do it…Make them do it again. In our final segment of the day we talk about predictions for this game and how we expect Zakhari Franklin to announce his presence on the scene in a big time way against Auburn's defense. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about how Quinshon Judkins and his return to face his "Hometown Team" the Auburn Tigers. Everyone has seen the Lane Kiffin picture on the bleachers recruiting Judkins but the lack of interest by instate schools has to be a motivating factor for the Running Back out of Pike Road, Alabama. Add Ulysses Bentley IV to the equation and Charlie Weis Jr and Lane Kiffin may really try to run at the Auburn Tigers Saturday. In the second segment of the show we talk about how nobody knows who is going to be the starting QB or maybe I should say the predominant QB for Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers…Will Payton Thorne continue as the QB or will Robby Ashford get more of a role for this Auburn Football team. In our final segment of the day we talk about how this game will come down to Time of Possesion and likely not how you will think. One would have to assume that Hugh Freeze is going to try to copy the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets game plan that saw them keep the ball for nearly 40 minutes. The defense will need to get off the field to prevent this game from looking like that. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about how Jaxson Dart and Lane Kiffin need a quick start vs the Auburn Tigers and what that will look like. Winning 1st and 2nd down will be important for Jaxson Dart and Charlie Weis Jr and will Jordan Watkins play and if not who will step up for the Ole Miss Rebels Offense. Will it be Tre Harris, Dayton Wade or will the emergence of Zakhari Franklin or Ayden Williams occur. In the second segment of the show we talk about how it will be important for Lane Kiffin to win every possesion…End every series with a kick should be the goal for Ole Miss Football vs Auburn Football. This is an Auburn offense that will likely play extremely slow and it will be important that Ole Miss does not help them by turning the football over or getting stopped on a 4th down. This Auburn offense will need you to help them on scoring drives…So don't In our final segment of the day we talk about how this game will be a physical war played by the Ole Miss front seven and it will be important that they come into to this game with that mindset. Play big on the front and bottle up their running game. Expect Robby Ashford to start but be prepared for Payton Thorne. And expect a change in tactic in their offense to protect their defense. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the injury to Jordan Watkins and how that will affect the Ole Miss Rebels and Jaxson Dart. Dayton Wade becomes to presumed player that will fill the role replacing Jordan Watkins in the lineup for Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr. How will the Jordan Watkins injury affect the team moving forward and how will the Hugh Freeze vs Lane Kiffin rivalry kick off. In the second segment of the show we talk about the LSU Tigers absolutely obliterating the Auburn Tigers 48-18 Saturday Night at LSU. We talked about the need for Ole Miss to play clean and protect the football. We talked about the need to get off to a fast start against a team with zero confidence. And we looked at ways that this game could get squirrelly for Ole Miss. We also looked at the AP Top 25 ranking Oregon State over Ole Miss in a situation where the Ole Miss resume is easily superior. In our final segment of the day we talk about the week 8 SEC Lines from FanDuel and how each game is slated to go in this abbreviated game week of football. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the growth of the offense in 2023 and how great of a season Jaxson Dart is having for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss Football. That said it can still get better and that avenue is through playcalling. When the game is called well the offense performs well for Charlie Weis Jr but there has been a tendency to kind of get lazy with the playcalling when they expect success. In the second segment of the show we talk about the offensive line not being as bad as some people say. John Garrison against LSU Tigers completely shut down Harold Perkins and Maason Smith proving that it can be done with smart playcalling. There have also been two real surprises on Ole Miss's offense in Jordan Watkins and Ulysses Bentley IV and those players are making themselves known right now. In our final segment of the day we talk about the top five players in the first half of the season and give them their props for the first half of 2023. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the reasons that Ole Miss Football and Lane Kiffin will defeat Arkansas Football and Sam Pittman. This game will be about the offense being successful and Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr will need to let Jaxson Dart, Tre Harris, Caden Prieskorn and Quinshon Judkins cook with a varied and multizonal attack Plan…This offense has the potential to be the 2019 LSU Tigers or 2022 Tennessee Volunteers but they need to continue to build that way. In the second segment of the show we talk about why the Arkansas Razorbacks and KJ Jefferson and Rocket Sanders pose a different challenge to the defense that Jayden Daniels did a week ago. This game a spy does not need to be an Olympic sprinter to catch Daniels…This week will look more like it did vs the Alabama Crimson Tide and Jalen Milroe. I think the defense bounces back. In our final segment of the day we talk about how this game has Ole Miss as a heavy favorite on every single analytical tool and on betting lines where Ole Miss is currently -11.5. Now I am of the opinion that it is too many points for a football game that is traditionally silly but I do think Ole Miss wins the game comfortably. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the reasons that the Ole Miss Football team led by Lane Kiffin will defeat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets led by Brent Key. This will all start in a comparison of Quarterbacks and while Haynes King is two or three times what Georgia Tech had he is not playing at the same level as Jaxson Dart for Charlie Weis Jr. Michael Trigg in the pass game will be something to watch for from the Ole Miss offense. In the second segment of the show we talk about how Ole Miss Rebels are going to get Quinshon Judkins going against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Through quick passes and threats in different direction the flow will be slowed and allow Judkins to highlight the offense like intended. In our final segment of the day we talk about how I expect Ole Miss to win the game but the cover aspect of the game will be the ultimate question for the Rebs against the Georgia Tech football team. In the second segment of the show we talk about Haynes King the quarterback of Georgia Tech Football and the head Yellow Jacket as well. We look at his journey from the Texas A&M Aggies to Atlanta and look at what this game could mean to the young signal caller. Chase Lane one of Georgia Tech's top WR targets will be out for the game as well. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about Ole Miss football's game Saturday against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and begin to obsess about how defenses are playing the Ole Miss Football team. The Offense has not changed from Jeff Lebby to Charlie Weis Jr so we know that the Quick Game is a part of this offense and can be easily added. With the Wide Receiver unit and Tight End Unit thin at the moment Dayton Wade, Jordan Watkins and Michael Trigg will be counted on in the passing game. In the second segment of the show we talk about the defensive being more of a strength than I could have imagined in preseason and they even scored a Touchdown against the Tulane Green Wave when Jared Ivey scooped and scored late in the game Saturday. The next step in the Defensive development will be usage of Suntarine Perkins and using him to accent the defense. That unit played well in the second half last week. In our final segment of the day we talk about Ole Miss needing to not fall into the Alabama trap as this game with Georgia Tech is the Ultimate trap game. For the offense to be true RPO for Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr the rules need to be absolute for Jaxson Dart or Spencer Sanders. When this happens, then you do this and I think defenses are forcing a certain decision on the RPO and rallying to the ball. I wonder if teams know where the read is being made and doing the modern day equivalent or forcing the QB to keep the ball on the option because the pitch man is so good. In our final segment of the day we talk about The Ole Miss Rebels vs the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and look at the Opening Line of -20.5 from Fan Duel. We also look at some of the bigger games this weekend and how they Opened betting wise. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT?
