Een derde van de waarde is verloren gegaan sinds de piek van het aandeel Oracle in september. Toen explodeerde de koers nog na een deal met OpenAI. Dat ging voor 300 miljard dollar aan clouddiensten afnemen, en daar waren beleggers nogal blij mee. Maar in de afgelopen weken lijken ze van gedachten veranderd. Er is wat twijfel geweest over de hoge waarderingen van techaandelen, er is wat gesnoeid in die waarderingen ook. En Oracle komt er niet best uit: die daalt het hardst van allemaal. Zijn ze de enige, of de eerste die het te verduren krijgen? Het antwoord op die vraag hoor je in deze aflevering. Verder hebben we het ook over het dubbele afscheid van de week. Den 14 maj 1931 marscherade ett fredligt demonstrationståg genom Ådalen i Västernorrlands län. Deltagarna protesterade mot strejkbrytare och arbetsgivarnas hårda åtgärder under en pågående arbetskonflikt.I det röda Ådalen – där den revolutionära vänstern underblåste konflikten mellan industriägare och arbetare – skapade strejkbrytarna en explosiv situation. En inkompetent hantering från civila och militära myndigheter förvandlade en redan laddad konflikt till en tragedi: fem människor sköts ihjäl av svensk militär.I detta avsnitt av podden Historia Nu samtalar programledaren Urban Lindstedt med journalisten Jens Nordqvist, författare till boken Skotten i Ådalen (Historiska Media, 2021).Skotten i Ådalen förändrade synen på både militärens roll i samhället och fackföreningarnas rättigheter. Den kan också ses som en vändpunkt – från konfrontativ klasskamp till ett samhällsbygge med kompromiss och jämlikhet i centrum.Ådalen, beläget i Västernorrlands län, var under 1920- och 30-talen starkt industrialiserat. Sågverk, pappersmassefabriker och flottleder utgjorde kärnan i arbetslivet. Den globala lågkonjunkturen efter börskraschen i New York 1929 drabbade den exportberoende regionen särskilt hårt. Massarbetslöshet och lönesänkningar ökade spänningarna mellan arbetare och arbetsgivare.Den fackliga kampen trappades upp när industrimagnaten Gerhard Versteegh försökte sänka löner, höja hyror och använda strejkbrytare. Versteegh vägrade att ansluta sig till Svenska Arbetsgivareföreningen och betraktade fackföreningarna som ett hot mot sin makt. Strejker utbröt vid flera av hans anläggningar, och våren 1931 förvandlades Ådalen till en tryckkokare.Kulmen nåddes när strejkbrytare, eskorterade av det privata vaktsällskapet Svenska Nationella Skyddskåren, anlände till fabrikerna i Lunde. Redan den 13 maj samlades hundratals demonstranter för att blockera transportvägar och attackerade strejkbrytarnas logi. Situationen eskalerade. Polisen fick förstärkning från Stockholm, och militären kallades in från Västernorrlands regemente i Sollefteå.På Kristi himmelsfärdsdag, den 14 maj, deltog över 3 000 personer i ett demonstrationståg som protesterade mot strejkbrytare och militärens närvaro. In 2010, the Association for Information Systems formed a special interest group () to nurture an international community of academics that study the role of digital technologies in fostering environmentally, economically and socially sustainable development. Fifteen years later, we sit down with , the current SIGGreen president, to reflect on the progress we have made. What do we know about how digital technologies help greening our planet? What efforts in empirical, theoretical, and design work is still needed? Is our role to understand the role of digital technologies or do we need to push and enact change ourselves?
