C.S. Lewis said, “To be Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." Choosing Christ-like forgiveness doesn't mean we have to die on a cross. In fact, we don't have to do that to forgive others. Jesus did that for us. We were called to “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32) In this episode of The Woman Inspired Podcast we're talking about forgiving like Jesus did and what a Christ-like, truth-driven, compassionate forgiveness looks like. Do members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have better, the same, or worse mental health when compared to members of other religions, or those of no religion? Despite some popular narratives, what does peer-reviewed academic research find? In this episode, professor Justin Dyer takes us into what the collective scholarly publications between 2005-2022 have to say on this important subject, and the reasons why more active Latter-day Saints tend to have better mental health. Publications: “Religion, Mental Health, and the Latter-Day Saints: A Review of Literature 2005–2022” (Religions, 2023) “Perspective: What 18 years of research tells us about the mental health of Latter-day Saints” (Deseret News, 2023) “Perspective: Faith is a factor in good mental health. All choices bring burdens. Aligning our choices with Christ, with His Church, and with His Apostles is the light burden. W. Justin Dyer, professor of religious education, gave this devotional address on May 23, 2023. Access the talk here.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Faith is about diving headfirst into the deep end. Choosing Christ as your Lord and Savior is not about, trying religion on for size as a fad and seeing if it is comfortable and pleasing. Forget about religion. I am talking about a relationship between you and God. This involves admitting that we are sinners and that we cannot save ourselves. It means accepting God's call of obedience and walking with him. It is a declaration to God “I cannot do this on my own. I need you. You are the way the truth and the life. There is salvation in no one else! I unconditionally give myself to you. I am your disciple! I am your servant! I am your child? Put me to work Lord!”

The Truth in Love: Homilies & Reflections by Fr. Stephen Dardis
The world tells us that there is no manual for how to be a wife and a mother, but for the Christian woman, the Bible provides sufficient instruction! According to Jillian Lancour, the host of With Love Jillian and the founder of the online magazine She Lives Holy, the Bible provides the wisdom we need to face everything in life. She explains the important role that women play in the fellowship of the church, as well as older women's responsibility to train up the younger generation of wives and mothers. Jillian also warns about the dangers of self-help preachers, and the slippery slope of self-love over loving Christ. God changes the desires of your heart when you delight in Him, she shares. TAKEAWAYS Every book of the Bible, except Philemon, warns about the dangers of false prophets Avoid self-love preachers like Steven Furtick, Beth Moore, and Benny Hinn American Gospel is a powerful documentary exposing the dangers of false teachers It is critical that we properly interpret the Word of God
Ep. 079 - We're sharing our journey of facing intense hate for our belief in Christ and unwavering stance on God's Word. It's been a CRAZY journey over the past eight years. Send your questions about life and faith:Fr. David - dstavarz@st-gabriel.orgDeacon Bob - bgrgic@st-gabriel.orgThe “Power” of Jesus Christ"But in what does this “power” of Jesus Christ the King consist? It is not the power of the kings or the great people of this world; it is the divine power to give eternal life, to liberate from evil, to defeat the dominion of death. It is the power of Love that can draw good from evil, that can melt a hardened heart, bring peace amid the harshest conflict and kindle hope in the thickest darkness. This Kingdom of Grace is never imposed and always respects our freedom. Christ came “to bear witness to the truth” (Jn 18: 37), as he declared to Pilate: whoever accepts his witness serves beneath his “banner.” . . . Every conscience, therefore, must make a choice. Who do I want to follow? God or the Evil One? The truth or falsehood? Choosing Christ does not guarantee success according to the world's criteria but assures the peace and joy that he alone can give us. This is demonstrated, in every epoch, by the experience of numerous men and women who, in Christ's name, in the name of truth and justice, were able to oppose the enticements of earthly powers with their different masks, to the point that they sealed their fidelity with martyrdom." — Pope Benedict XVI, on the feast of Christ the King, Nov. 22, 2009

It's a question of paramount importance. It's the biggest question you will ever answer in your lifetime. And it's a question that you cannot avoid. "What shall I do with Jesus, who is called Christ?" In today's broadcast, we will hear how two Biblical characters ultimately answered that question - and how tragic their answers were! We have Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor. And we have Judas Iscariot, a supposed disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. Both decided they wanted something else. Imagine wanting ANYTHING other than Christ in your life, your sins forgiven, and peace with God! How foolish to think that anything temporal in this world is a good bargain compared to what Christ offers! We hope that today's message will focus this pivotal question for you.

Message from Bro. Jacob Vanover on February 23, 2020
Today we are going to dwell a little deeper into what it means for individuals within the church to give the outside world a glimpse of what it is like to be under the reign of Christ. This is the focus of Article 171. Now article 17 states that “conformity to Christ includes non-conformity to the world”. This statement implies that you cannot have dual citizenship between Christ’s kingdom and the kingdom of this world which is ruled in fact by Satan. Take your pick, it is one or the other. There is no fence-sitting either. So what does it look like when you choose to be in Christ’s kingdom? Today I will present to you three sets of choices addressed in Article 17 involved in choosing Christ over the world.

"While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night" is one of the most familiar Christmas carols we hear at this time of year. How simply and beautifully it retells the amazing Christmas story to us! A 400 year silence was broken with those wonderful words, 'FEAR NOT'! And what was their glorious and urgent announcement? The promised child had been born! The Son had been sent! The Messiah had finally arrived to put away sin. And this Messiah was Himself a good shepherd, a great shepherd.
Join us as we talk through how we persevere in our marriages, intentionally forgive each other, and point each other toward Christ. We talk about how to keep Christ at the center of our marriages and how to recognize our selfish tendencies so that we can submit them to Christ.
The farther we get into our faith journeys, the more difficult and complex they seem to be. Obstacles block our paths, daylight dims and the road grows hard to see. But after a while in the dark, the light of dawns breaks through the night, warming the world and showing the way forward. God’s love is that light for our paths, and our guests this week—adventurer Bear Grylls and musician Rhonda Vincent—remind us that even when challenges barrage our faith, we can choose to stay on the road and follow the path He laid for us.
