Winner of numerous awards, including Close Up Magician of the Year, Jon Armstrong has brought his amazing skills and magical comedy to prestigious audiences in over 30 countries worldwide. Growing up in Orlando, Florida, Jon became fascinated by the magic he saw in the theme parks around him and dreamed of having his own show. This dream came true when Disney asked him to bring his act to Epcot and he became the resident magician at Walt Disney World. He was only 20. After spending 5 years doing his show at Disney World, Vegas called and Jon answered, becoming a recurring headliner at Caesars Magical Empire. It was between these runs in Vegas that Jon started doing tours all over the world as both a performer and lecturer, teaching others how to add humour and entertainment to their magic. Jon has also worked on many films and television shows such as "The Mentalist" Shut Eye, America's Got Talent, "Spiderman 3" and "AntMan" as a magic consultant and designer, and is co-creator of the IDW comic series Smoke and Mirrors. Jon now lives in Los Angeles and is a frequent performer at the world famous Magic Castle. His TV appearances as a talk show guest, featured performer or actor, include shows like NBC's "The Today Show", "Tonight Show" and Little Big Shots, "Magic Castle After Dark" on A&E, CW's "Penn and Teller Fool Us", Fox's "Masters of Illusion" and ABC's "Bachelorette." He has been featured in cover stories of trade publications like Magic, Genii and other magic journals worldwide. Articles have been done on him in The New York Times, LA Magazine and Harpers, just to name a few.
To say Paul Green has had a history in magic would be an underestimate. As a native Californian. Paul Green began his career in magic when he was just seven years old. After his father took him and his older brother to a “father/son banquet”, there was a magician performing for the group. Needless to say, he was hooked! After his older brother lost interest in magic once he had assembled a “shoe box” of magic, Paul stuck to it. As a result, magic became very important to him. He would go on to put on little shows in his backyard along with some of the neighbourhood kids. His first “paid” show was for his three year old cousin's birthday. The party was held in a community park. He continued performing for other children's parties while in school, becoming more and more comfortable with each performance. His earnings are used to fund props from the catalogs and shops. Over the years he began performing at restaurants, eventually working his way up at one Beverly Hills eatery for over 25 years! He also had the good fortune to work for many A-list celebrities--Cary Grant, Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner, and Elizabeth Taylor to name a few. Alongside restraints, Paul also started performing at trade shows for companies like Monsanto and IBM. Other venues included cruise ships which visited many exotic locations. Paul is an incredible magician, having lectured around the world for a long time. He has since been honoured with Lecturer of the Year and Close-Up Magician of the Year awards from the Academy of Magical Arts at the world-famous Magic Castle. Additionally, he has been a columnist for the Magic Menu and participated in the Live at the Jailhouse DVD set.

He is the 2014 and 2017 recipient of the Close-Up Magician of the Year award from The Academy of Magical Arts, and the subject of the documentary Dealt (2017).Turner was born in San Diego in 1954, which he dubbed "the year of the full deck" (referring to a standard 52-card deck of playing cards, plus the two jokers). At the age of seven he became infatuated with the television show Maverick.[2][3]His eyesight failed at the age of nine following his recovery from a bout with scarlet fever.[3] The macula (the center of the retina) of each of Turner's eyes was completely destroyed, preventing forward vision, and the rest of his retinas suffered a condition he describes as a "shotgun pattern" resembling and functioning as if they had been blasted full of holes by a tiny shotgun filled with bird shot.[2] By the age of thirteen, his vision deteriorated to 20/400, twice as low as the level deemed legally blind in the State of California and, over the years, what little vision Turner possessed gradually deteriorated to the point where he presently sees little more than indiscernible shadows, and those only peripherally.[4]Turner attended a special school for the visually impaired in Santee, California, where he refused to learn Braille (and never has). His younger brother, David, had been taking karate lessons for nine months, and invited Turner to accompany him. He began karate lessons in 1971 under the tutelage of Master John Murphy, the United States' founder of Wado-Kai, a Japanese hard style karate and was good at it, and began training at Gene Fisher's Gym eventually earning a fifth degree black belt in Wado-Kai karate. David is currently touring in the US in a circus called Circus 1903, a brand new show from the producers of The Illusionists and the puppeteers of War Horse. It's a fun celebration of the golden age of circus. Their most recent stop was in Boston, MA. (Feisworld HQ!) I fell in love with David's performance instantly. The audience was naturally and completely captivated by his words, his humor, and his incredible talent of improvising with children ages 5-9 on stage. To my surprise, David isn't a trained ringmaster, but a professional magician. He has been featured on ABC's Champions of Magic, where he appeared with Princess Stephanie as he performed his miracles at different locations in and around Monaco. Working as a magician is a career very few people can pull off. How did David become a magician and sustain a career for decades? What are the words of wisdom he'd like to pass onto our younger generation? David is going to unveil the world of magic to you, and the life of performing with a Circus. In this episode I talk to magician Suzanne! We cover various topics like what she learned studying under Al Schneider and what you can learn about your audience from a horse! Suzanne is a world class magician and expert story teller from Minneapolis/St. Paul MN! Using her magic as a vehicle to play with her audiences, Suzanne specializes in performing close-up magic for corporate and private audiences as well as at a number of restaurants in her area. She’s also a favorite at the Hollywood Magic Castle where she's been the only female magician to not only be nominated for, but also win Close Up Magician of the Year which she received in 2010. She’s also appeared on the covers of Genii and MUM magazines. She makes shy people shine and bold people laugh. Jonathan Levit says "Her routines are masked in stories that touch your heartstrings and tie into her mystical imagination.” Success Quotes: Follow your bliss. — Joseph Campbell Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!” — Hunter S Thompson Failure Moment: This isn't a failure per se, but Suzanne talks about her struggle with cancer and what she took away from that. She learned how to stand up for herself and how to separate work and personal life. She also tells how magic, her bliss, helper her through this challenging time. Favorite Success: Being so accepted at the hollywood Magic Castle. Lessons from Al Schneider Suzanne had the opportunity to study under Al Schneider. A couple things she learned from him are in magic, all your movements need to look natural, whether you're putting a coin in your hand or faking it. Also, when you create a moment of magic, give your audience the time they need to fully process what they just experienced. Don't just plow through it. It's very personal to them. Lessons from a Horse Believe it or not, there's a lot to be learned about your audience from a horse! • Magicians can be likened to a predator and the audience, prey. • Communicating subconsciously. • Reading body language and adjusting your performance accordingly. • Putting your audience at ease. • Be aware of your own body language. How Does Suzanne Differentiate Herself? The magic is not about her, it's about how she makes her audience feel. What's worked best for growing her business? Word of mouth. Biggest Professional Challenge Breaking the preconception of the magician and teaching the lay audience about magic. What would she have done different? She wouldn't have tried to do everything. She would have hired people do do things like marketing and other tasks she's not good at. Interesting Story from Career Suzanne tells about her first interaction with The Professor, Dai Vernon. Parting Advice Always do what you love. Other Topics Covered • The importance of having support from your spouse when pursuing your dream.
