The guys began the show with their immediate thoughts on a report from NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun throwing cold water on any smoke regarding Dylan Larkin getting traded any time soon. They discussed the potential ramifications if this news turns out to be true and what the perception will be in Detroit about both Steve Yzerman and Larkin. Then, they finished the hour with an "In Football Today".
Stubbornness usually has negative connotations, but "holy stubbornness" is something to strive for.
Most people think their biggest weakness is the problem. It's not. It's that they're only using half of themselves. George Washington won a war by being the world's most honest man — and its most convincing liar. Steve Jobs built the future by dreaming like a child and obsessing like an engineer. These aren't contradictions. They're the formula behind the psychology of excellence. The most powerful thing you can do isn't fix every flaw — it's finding the one opposing trait that supercharges what you're already great at. Why "cognitive entrenchment" is quietly capping your potential, even if you're highly experienced How to identify the single trait pairing that will unlock your next level Why urgency without patience isn't drive — it's just anxiety with a to-do list Stop trying to be well-rounded. Obedience is one of those words that can sound simple until Scripture turns it into a mirror. We start with 1 Samuel 15, where Samuel draws a sharp line between sacrifice and submission, then we sit with what that means for real life: the habits we excuse, the sins we rank, and the ways we try to “make it up” to God instead of doing what He says. From there, we slow down into prayer, asking for gratitude and a heart that stops fixating on what we lack. We also read Proverbs 31 and talk about Christian character inside marriage and family life, not as a performance, but as steady faithfulness that blesses the people closest to us. If you want practical Christian encouragement, this section is a reminder that spiritual maturity usually looks ordinary: diligence, trust, and reverence for the Lord. The center of the episode is John 8, where Jesus responds to a public accusation with a sentence that still shocks the conscience: “Let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone.” We talk about how Jesus holds mercy and truth together, why “go and sin no more” matters, and why prayer is never truly solitary when the Holy Spirit is with us. We also read from Psalms and Proverbs, then reflect on culture, public tragedy, and the importance of remembering our spiritual foundations, including the hymn “God of Our Fathers.”If this helped you, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a review wherever you listen.#GodOfOurFathers#ChristianNation#AmericanPatriotSupport the showThe American Soul Podcasthttps://www.buzzsprout.com/1791934/subscribeCountryside Book Serieshttps://www.amazon.com/Countryside-Book-J-T-Cope-IV-ebook/dp/B00MPIXOB2
Solomon identified five financial traps that quietly keep people stuck. Impulsiveness, buying something you don't need because the deal seemed too good to pass up. Stubbornness, refusing to follow a plan because pride gets in the way. Laziness, skipping responsibility and hoping things work out anyway. Self-indulgence, spending everything on yourself until there's nothing left. And craftiness, chasing get-rich-quick schemes instead of doing the steady work. The answer to why you never seem to have enough almost always comes down to management, not income. Generally, it isn't that you don't have enough. It's what you do have that hasn't been handled well. God wants to bless and multiply what you have, but He can't multiply what you aren't managing faithfully. It all comes down to consistency with what's already in your hands.Pursuing God with Gene Appel is designed to help you pursue God, build community, and unleash compassion. Grounded in Scripture and shaped by Eastside's conviction that God's grace is for everyone, each episode invites you to discover God's presence and activity in your life.
In this episode, the conversation moves through 2 Kings 2, Luke 11, and the persistent relationship between Elijah and Elisha to wrestle with a difficult question:What does it actually look like to persist in being discipled?Elisha refuses to walk away. He keeps following. Keeps listening. Keeps showing up. Even when Elijah tells him to stay behind. Even when the outcome is uncertain. Even when everyone else already seems satisfied with knowing about what God is doing.Along the way, we explore the tension between immediate gratification and long-term formation, the difference between persistence and stubbornness, and why so many of us want transformation without sustained intentionality. This episode also reflects on prayer, persistence, spiritual inheritance, and the quiet reality that becoming more like Jesus often happens through repeated small acts of staying near Him.Persistence keeps asking, seeking, knocking.Stubbornness stops asking because it already assumes it knows.

On this episode of Warden's Watch, we sit down again with Ohio's Kevin Behr - this time joined by his wife, Kathy - to talk about survival, recovery, and the purpose they've found after Kevin was shot in the line of duty. Recorded at the International Game Warden Conference, this conversation goes beyond the incident itself and into what happens after - for officers, spouses, families, and anyone navigating a critical incident. A powerful update, an honest conversation, and a reminder that survival comes with responsibility - and that even in the worst moments, purpose can still be found. Hugo sits down with Alex Withmory — a fellow Peruvian, a wildly talented drummer, and someone Hugo has been rooting for since they crossed paths on a music video set seven years ago. In this one, they get into what it was like coming to LA barely knowing English, finding your footing in a music scene where Peruvians are few and far between, and how stubbornness can be your greatest strength and your biggest obstacle at the same time.Alex opens up about what it means to build your identity around your craft — and what happens when you start to question whether that's enough. They also touch on the role of AI in the music industry, why live music might be the last thing technology can truly replace, and the beauty of just saying yes to gigs and seeing where they take you. Jeremiah 7:4, 8–154 Do not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.'8 “Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail. 9 Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods that you have not known, 10 and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, ‘We are delivered!'—only to go on doing all these abominations? 11 Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it, declares the Lord. 12 Go now to my place that was in Shiloh, where I made my name dwell at first, and see what I did to it because of the evil of my people Israel. 13 And now, because you have done all these things, declares the Lord, and when I spoke to you persistently you did not listen, and when I called you, you did not answer, 14 therefore I will do to the house that is called by my name, and in which you trust, and to the place that I gave to you and to your fathers, as I did to Shiloh. 15 And I will cast you out of my sight, as I cast out all your kinsmen, all the offspring of Ephraim.

What's it really like to buy a business? Not the Instagram version. Not the "Lamborghinis and Dubai" version. The real version. In this episode, Jonathan brings together a panel of experienced dealmakers at Riverside Studios, all of whom have completed multiple acquisitions across sectors including property, construction, accountancy, engineering, and more. What follows is one of the most honest conversations you'll hear about business buying. Behind the Scenes: Real Deals, Real Numbers This isn't theory. These are people who have actually done it: 11 deals in 5 years £17M group revenue £26M in acquisitions underway Multiple buy-and-build strategies across sectors And yet, despite the success… every single one of them has faced setbacks, stress, and deals falling apart. The Truth: Deals Fall Apart (Often at the Last Minute) One of the clearest messages from this episode: Expect things to go wrong. You'll hear examples like: Deals collapsing on the day of signing Sellers changing their mind at the last minute Lawyers slowing everything down Weeks (or months) of work disappearing overnight One dealmaker shares how they: Rebranded a business Built a website Spent £15,000 preparing …only for the seller to walk away at the final moment This is normal. The Emotional Reality Buying a business isn't just strategic, it's emotional. High highs when deals progress Low lows when they fall apart Constant uncertainty As one dealmaker puts it: It's a rollercoaster. Expect to strike out more than you succeed. If you're not prepared for that, it will catch you out. Seller Problems You Don't Expect Even after completion, challenges don't stop. Real examples from the episode include: Sellers sabotaging the business after selling Negative reviews being posted by the former owner Directors staying on and disrupting operations Internal conflict damaging performance These are rarely talked about, but they happen. How to Protect Yourself The panel shares practical ways to reduce risk: Avoid keeping sellers as directors unless absolutely necessary Use deferred consideration tied to performance Structure agreements so sellers are incentivised to help, not hinder Use clear consultancy agreements instead of vague ongoing roles Define responsibilities and expectations upfront The key idea: Alignment matters more than goodwill. Deal Flow: The Numbers Game No One Warns You About Another reality check: Finding the right deal takes volume. Thousands of letters Hundreds of conversations Single-digit response rates Even then: Most responses won't lead to deals Many opportunities won't stack up Persistence is essential But there's nuance: Some deals happen quickly Others take years Luck plays a role The only constant is this: You need to keep going. Persistence vs Stubbornness This episode draws an important distinction: Persistence = keep moving forward Stubbornness = repeating what doesn't work Successful dealmakers: Learn from failed deals Adjust their approach Delegate and outsource Focus on higher-value activity They don't just "try harder" They get smarter Why Most Business Owners Stay Stuck A powerful theme emerges: Most business owners: Grow slowly Stay in their comfort zone Chase small improvements While dealmakers: Think bigger Use acquisition to scale faster Double or triple revenue through deals The difference isn't intelligence. It's mindset. The Hidden Barrier: Your Own Thinking One of the most striking insights: Your growth is limited by what you believe is possible. Many people unconsciously cap their success They return to familiar "safe" levels They self-sabotage without realising To grow, you have to: Redefine what "normal" looks like Push beyond your current identity Think at a different level Key Takeaways If you're considering buying a business, take this seriously: 1. It's not glamorous Ignore what you see online. This is hard work. 2. Deals will fall apart Build resilience. Expect setbacks. 3. Sellers can become problems Structure deals to protect yourself. 4. Volume matters More conversations = more opportunities. 5. Learn and adapt Don't repeat the same mistakes. 6. Think bigger Acquisition is a faster path than organic growth. 7. Your mindset sets the ceiling If you don't change how you think, nothing else changes. If you're serious about buying a business – and avoiding the mistakes Jonathan outlines – book a free Clarity Call with one of his team:
Success doesn't always require a complete restart… Sometimes, it just requires a small adjustment in the right direction. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex breaks down the concept of the micro-pivot—how making small, strategic changes can completely shift your results without abandoning your overall vision. Too many entrepreneurs confuse stubbornness with resilience. They keep pushing the same strategy, ignoring feedback, and hoping for a different outcome. But the market always tells the truth—and those who listen win faster. The key isn't to start over every time something doesn't work… it's to adjust, test, and refine until it does. In this episode, you'll learn: Why ignoring feedback from the market can cost you time, money, and momentum How small adjustments can create massive changes in results Why adaptability is more powerful than stubbornness in business How separating your ego from your strategy helps you move faster and scale smarter You don't need a brand new business… You just need a better direction. Because when you make the right adjustments at the right time, everything starts to click—and growth accelerates. Your Network is your NETWORTH! Stubbornness can blind a person to what God is clearly doing. In this message, we see a moment where someone repeatedly tried to manipulate the outcome despite knowing that God had already spoken. No matter how many attempts were made to force a different result, the truth remained the same—what God has blessed cannot be reversed. This teaching is a sobering reminder that resisting God's will and trying to bend things our way can lead to serious consequences. True wisdom is found in humility and surrender. When we stop fighting God's direction and align ourselves with His purpose, we position ourselves to walk in the blessing He has already declared.

What if the culture your organisation is trying to build isn't hiding in a values poster or a strategy deck—but in the smallest things you do every single day? In this warm, deeply practical episode of Legendary Leaders, host Cathleen O'Sullivan is joined by Augusta Vivian, CEO of Higson, a people development consultancy helping senior teams lead through change, build inclusive workplaces, and embed culture that actually lasts. Their conversation spans parenting and leadership, kindness as a performance tool, the hard work of real inclusion, and why stubborn values might be the most underrated leadership quality of all. Augusta opens with something personal—how raising her 17-month-old daughter has sharpened her understanding of presence, trust, and the power of micro moments. From there, the conversation moves into the heart of her work: how the tiny, consistent behaviours we model become the architecture of how we treat each other at scale. She shares how Higson builds change-ready cultures, why clarity is an act of kindness, and how vulnerability from a leader doesn't weaken authority—it creates the conditions for real trust. They also tackle inclusion head-on—unpacking the critical difference between diversity and inclusion, the unconscious bias we all carry, and how even the language we use with toddlers is quietly shaping future leaders. And Augusta makes a compelling case that fun, charity, and giving back aren't soft add-ons—they're non-negotiables, built into processes and calendars precisely because life is busy and good intentions alone don't get it done. This is a conversation that will nudge you to look differently at how habits, tone, and attention shape the people around you—at home, in your community, and at work. Episode Timeline: 00:04:18 Parenting as a leadership practice 00:06:41 Why micro moments are the real culture builders 00:09:31 Building a change culture, not just surviving change 00:12:59 The importance of kindness and vulnerability 00:18:02 Financial transparency, strategy days 00:21:24 Culture add, not culture fit 00:23:56 Core values of of Higson 00:29:06 Making the values a non-negotiable 00:34:38 The people behind the passion and authenticity 00:36:35 Stubbornness as a values-led superpower 00:41:14 The impact of her Oxford days 00:43:10 Diversity vs inclusion – what leaders get wrong 00:52:26 Why culture change stalls at the poster 00:58:44 Intelligent failure and the Rose, Thorn, Bud tool 01:04:57 What a parenting book teaches us about leadership 01:08:16 Boundaries over balance Key Takeaway: Culture Lives in Behaviour, Not Slogans: Values on a wall mean nothing without the layer below them. Define what your values look like in practice, build them into how you hire, appraise and recognise people—then they become culture. Most organisations skip that step. Kindness is a Performance Tool, Not a Nice-to-Have: Honest communication, genuine recognition and psychological safety aren't soft—they're the foundation of high performance. Teams that trust their leader navigate change faster, stay longer and go further above and beyond. Diversity Gets People in the Room. Inclusion Keeps Them There: A diverse team without an inclusive culture doesn't outperform—it underperforms. Around 70% of how included someone feels comes directly from their leader. Check your language, challenge your biases, and make sure people feel heard—not just present. If It Matters, Build It In—Don't Just Intend It: Charity work, fun, wellbeing check-ins, strategy days—none of it happens on good intentions alone. If something is a value, make it a non-negotiable: schedule it, process it, protect it. Otherwise, busy wins. About Augusta Vivian: Augusta Vivian is a people development and organisational culture expert who works with leaders and teams to build inclusive, high-performing workplaces and lead through change. As Founder and CEO of the people consultancy Higson, she specialises in designing leadership frameworks, behavioural change programmes, and talent practices rooted in psychological insight that help organisations communicate better, innovate, and thrive. With a degree in Psychology from the University of Oxford, Augusta combines deep expertise in human behaviour with a mission to create positive social and environmental impact — including donating a significant portion of Higson's profits to charity and achieving B Corp certification. Spring training is here, the Mets have arrived in Port St. Lucie, and Farace and Rodriguez are already in midseason form: caffeinated, opinionated, and ready to overreact to everything Steve Cohen says within a five-mile radius of a microphone. Producer Joe is, of course, behind the wall, armed with sound drops, bad timing, and just enough chaos to derail any serious baseball conversation at the worst possible moment. This week's show starts where every Mets week apparently starts now: with Steve Cohen. The owner made it very clear that there will be no captain as long as he owns the team, which somehow turned into a bigger storyline than half the roster reporting to camp. Is that confidence? Stubbornness? A billionaire's version of “because I said so”? We'll get into whether Cohen sounds frustrated, what it says about last year's clubhouse, and why he seemed genuinely perplexed that Edwin Díaz chose the Dodgers. Yes, that still stings, and yes, Farace is absolutely going to squeeze at least five minutes out of that one.On the field side, Francisco Lindor is basically doing captain duties without the title, fielding questions about the locker room and last season like the adult in the room, while Juan Soto is handling the move to left field like it's no big deal and even tossing some love toward Carson Benge in the process. Add in the general vibe coming out of camp and suddenly the Mets are… confident? That usually means something bad is about to happen, but we'll enjoy it while it lasts. We'll also dig into MLB Network's Top 10 Right Now lists for starters and relievers, and where the Mets' arms fit into that picture, because the potential staff is quietly very, very good. The big question: do you actually run six starters out there and make it a real thing, or is that just spring training optimism talking? Either way, the pitching depth is going to be a real storyline, not just a spring buzzword. Then it's time for the rookies. Bring them on. Who's actually pushing for a role, who's just getting a long look, and who's going to become a fan favorite before April is over? We'll sort through the names, the hype, and the reality. And yes, we are once again saying WBC… stop it. We'll go through the cons of the World Baseball Classic, the risk-reward nonsense, and why Mets fans are always one awkward slide away from collective panic. Somewhere in there, Luke Weaver showing up to camp with a Yankees bag will get the “read the room, man” treatment it deserves, because some things are just unforgivable in Queens. Finally, we're spinning the wheel for blind ranking, but this time it's all-time Mets. Not just this year's roster. The entire history is in play. Legends, fan favorites, chaos picks, and at least one name that will make Producer Joe laugh and everyone else groan. The category: Mets players you'd most want to have a drink with. It's guaranteed arguments, bad logic, nostalgia, and at least one “how did that guy end up there?” moment. It's spring, it's Mets, it's Cohen quotes, pitching debates, WBC complaining, and a wheel that's about to cause problems. In other words, a perfectly normal episode of Put It in the Books. #PutItInTheBooks #PiitB #Mets

Lucy Keeler's version of “a rough start to the year” is… intense. After picking up a tropical illness in Thailand, Lucy went from fully independent to unable to walk, dress herself, type, or even hold a pen thanks to brutal joint inflammation that lingered for months. Doctors couldn't confirm exactly what caused it (possible chikungunya or parvovirus), and recovery was slow, painful, and messy. But instead of waiting around for life to feel “normal” again, Lucy did what a lot of us do when we're trapped in the house and losing our minds: she needed something to aim at.An Instagram ad, a half-delusional spark of hope, and a stubborn refusal to write herself off later… Lucy signs up to run 200 miles across Tajikistan in 7 days — despite not even being able to walk properly when she first saw it.This episode is about recovery, pushing yourself (without ignoring reality), the power of goals, and why most people quit right before the turning point. Also: periods in the mountains, zero running water, and the kind of camaraderie that makes you feel human again.Timestamps00:00 — Lucy's “dare and win”: unable to walk… then 200 miles across Tajikistan01:50 — Thailand illness hits hard: fever, shaking, and “is this normal?” moments03:25 — Back home: arms seize up, can't move, can't breathe properly, A&E visit05:30 — The swelling gets serious: can't stand, can't dress herself, tropical disease hospital06:10 — Possible diagnoses + reality of recovery: months of pain, steroids, and work support08:45 — The pivot: “I need something to look forward to” (goal-setting in survival mode)10:00 — The Instagram ad that changed everything + what the Tajikistan run actually is22:30 — The hardest day: illness, no calories, endometriosis surprise, big climb, and not quittingKey TakeawaysJust because you look “fine” doesn't mean you are. Lucy talks about that weird limbo where you're functioning on the outside but in agony underneath.A goal can be a lifeline. Not a “new year, new me” goal — a give-me-a-reason-to-keep-going goal.Stubbornness is a double-edged sword. It got her through Thailand, through Gatwick, through A&E… and eventually into recovery (but she also admits she should've accepted help sooner).Fear gets loud right before you do something brave. Lucy's body starts “hurting again” right before the trip — classic panic symptoms dressing up as logic.Community changes everything. This wasn't a race — it was a shared experience built on support, breaks, check-ins, and people who refuse to let you quit alone.Hard days are part of the deal. The breakdown day wasn't a sign to stop — it was the point most people would stop… and that's why it mattered.Adventure doesn't require a new identity. Lucy loves her job, loves London, and still makes space for big challenges — you don't have to burn your life down to expand it.The dare is simple (and annoying): push the button on the thing you keep thinking about.Check out The Great Silk Run! https://bit.ly/4aoNRPwShop She Who Dares Wins: www.shewhodareswins.comJoin Dare Club: https://stan.store/shewhodareswinsYoutube Channel: youtube.com/channel/UCkCSa96nwEKh-aeAbhXI7PA/Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/cw/shewhodareswins Hosted on Acast. We have a problem in the church today. But, it's not a new problem. It's an ancient problem that often sneaks into the church undetected and messes up the whole operation. This sneaky invasion doesn't sound all that dangerous when it's described as stubbornness. But, if we were to call it divisiveness, everyone sits up a little straighter in their pews and takes notice. Stubbornness is the root of all the nasty denominationalism that currently rules the modern Church system. It's time for it to go. But, if such a house-cleaning is to commence, it first must start inside our own individual souls.----------------------» Subscribe to the Eric Ludy Sermon Podcast on your favorite podcast app to get the sermon audios delivered to your device as they release: https://eric-ludy-sermons.captivate.fm/listen» Take these messages deeper and be discipled in person by Eric, Leslie, Nathan, and the team at Ellerslie in one of our upcoming discipleship programs – learn more at: https://ellerslie.com/be-discipled/» Receive our free “Five Keys to Walking Through Difficulty” PDF by going to: https://ellerslie.com/subscribe/» If you have been blessed by Ellerslie, consider partnering with the ministry by donating at: https://ellerslie.com/donate/» Discover more resources, books, and sermons from Eric Ludy by going to: https://ellerslie.com/about-eric-ludy/

In this fourth message of The Cure to Loneliness, Dr. Michael Youssef confronts two destructive forms of isolation—grief and pride. Teaching from John 11, he proclaims the Biblical cure for the crushing sorrow that follows loss: knowing Christ's love, His presence, His empathy, His power to redeem pain, and His perfect will. Then, from Luke 15, in the parable of the prodigal son, Dr. Youssef exposes the soul-killing loneliness of stubbornness as seen in the older brother's resentment. Though outwardly religious, his pride isolated him from the Father's joy of his brother's return. In both sorrow and self-righteousness, the answer is the same: humble repentance before a loving Savior who restores, redeems, and heals the brokenhearted, and welcomes the contrite home.
#939 | Ed and Dharnish pick through United's grim defeat to Everton - a game so flat it barely needs a post-mortem, yet somehow delivered enough misery to fill one. They break down Rúben Amorim's setup, from the malfunctioning wing-backs to a midfield that never got a grip, and a front line that looked like it had forgotten what chance creation even is. The pair analyse United's inability to punish Everton after the red card, a recurring theme under Amorim: lots of possession, fewer ideas. There's a look at the goal conceded, the structural issues behind it, and why United are still so bad at breaking down a low block. The episode also gets into individual performances, tactical stubbornness, squad limitations, and what this defeat means heading into Palace - plus how January might be the club's only lifeline. Introduction This week on Spirit of the Deal, we're diving deep with Laura Dionisio, a powerhouse coach who helps high achievers break free from "soul-sucking" success. Ever feel like you're climbing the ladder only to realize it's leaning against the wrong wall? Laura's been there, and she's here to guide you through a career pivot that feels not just successful, but genuinely *good*. We're talking about: The "speed dating" of our intro: Get ready for rapid-fire insights into what makes Laura tick. Alchemizing stubbornness: Discover how a shadow trait became her superpower in sales and life. The ultimate sales question: Learn how Laura flips the script to get clients to ask themselves the *real* question. From aerospace to alignment: Laura shares the courageous leap she took from a stable corporate career to building her dream business, Lead Intact. Embodying your future self: We explore the neuroscience and mindset shifts required to truly step into the identity you desire. The "cha-cha" childhood and its impact: How a nomadic upbringing shaped Laura's global perspective and innate resilience. The spirit of the deal, redefined: Laura breaks down her "Why, What, How" framework and how it applies to every exchange. If you're ready to ditch the burnout, reclaim your career, and build a life with purpose and passion, this episode is your blueprint. Get ready to be inspired, challenged, and aligned. Honest Overview Laura Dionisio brings a powerful perspective on career transitions, rooted in her own journey from eighteen years in corporate engineering to becoming a purposeful career coach. The core insight is that true success isn't about climbing a ladder, but about aligning your career with what actually feels good and brings you joy. She emphasizes ditching the "shiny but soul-sucking" versions of success that society often pushes. The emotional stakes here are high. For so many high achievers, there's a gnawing feeling of misalignment, a sense of "is this all there is?" Laura experienced this herself, leading to a period of "reverse bedtime procrastination" and a profound sense of being out of sync with her own needs. Her decision to leave a long, established corporate career for her own business, Lead Intact, was a massive leap of faith. She highlights the relief and liberation that came with finally aligning her actions with her inner truth. Key takeaways from the conversation include: The Power of Embodiment: Laura, like many in the "Spirit of the Deal" community, understands that visualizing success isn't enough; you have to embody your future self. This means not just seeing it, but feeling it and acting from that place. Stubbornness as a Strength: She candidly shares her "shadow trait" of stubbornness, which she's powerfully alchemized into determination. When faced with doubt, her stubbornness kicks in, pushing her forward, often against the odds. "Are You Worth It?": The boldest sales conversation takeaway is the question, "The program's worth it, are you worth it?" This flips the script, forcing potential clients to confront their own self-worth and readiness to invest in themselves. Cultural Resilience and Adaptability: Her "cha-cha childhood," moving between the Philippines and the US multiple times, built incredible resilience and an open-mindedness to different ways of being. This has translated into her coaching, allowing her to be deeply understanding of diverse perspectives. The "Why" and "What" of the Deal: Laura's framework for "Spirit of the Deal" centers on understanding the intention behind any exchange – the "why" (your core motivation) and the "what" (your desired outcome), as opposed to just the "how" (the transaction itself). Leaving the Spreadsheet Behind: Her significant career pivot was the first time she didn't create a spreadsheet. This signifies a move from purely logical, data-driven decisions to trusting her intuition and inner knowing. The conversation powerfully illustrates how embracing your authentic identity, even when it means defying expectations and societal norms, leads to a more energized, aligned, and ultimately, more successful life and career. It's about doing the brave work of excavating your own truth and then building your life from that foundation.

A man who spent decades "pushing through" pain, exhaustion, and hunger finally hit a wall—and discovered that his greatest asset had become his biggest liability. You'll also discover why your body might not be betraying you (you might be betraying it), the critical difference between discipline and wisdom as you age, and why "doing more" isn't always the answer. Arnold breaks down the dangerous trap of junk reps and chronic under-recovery that's silently sabotaging your health.Plus, three game-changing studies:Revolutionary knee pain relief without pills: Learn how a simple 5-10 degree foot angle adjustment while walking reduced pain as effectively as ibuprofen AND slowed joint damage by 26%. The protein snack strategy that crushes afternoon hunger – New research reveals which snacks keep you satisfied 30 minutes longer and help you eat 100 fewer calories at dinner. The answer might surprise you (and those "healthy" protein bars you're buying might be sabotaging your goals). When eating less becomes eating too little – Extreme calorie restriction might help you lose fat, but at what cost? Most empaths and highly sensitive people get labeled as stubborn, but this trait might actually be a superpower. Stubbornness gets reframed from negative to positive, examining how HSPs develop this quality as protection in invalidating environments. Narcissistic parents view stubborn children as threats, creating shame around boundaries and independent thinking. Childhood stubbornness often masks deeper needs like safety that adults miss. Positive stubbornness becomes tenacity, authenticity, and leadership backbone for breaking cycles and maintaining values.
Season 9, Episode 19 of PSA: The Mental Health Podcast peels back the workings of a phrase many of us lean on: “That's just how I am.” But what if that's just trauma hiding in emotional armor?Izzy sits down with bestselling author and leading Behavior Change Expert, Karen Salmansohn, the creative brain behind NotSalmon.com a former advertising creative director turned writer who's sold over 2 million books and courses, and whose insights regularly appear on Oprah.com and Psychology Today Her bold, irreverent style challenges emotional stagnation and invites transformation with tools grounded in psychology, humor, and spiritual insight. In this conversation, they unpack how generational trauma often gets mistaken for personality, how men grow up being told that emotion is weakness, hardening their hearts in the process. Karen's research-backed belief is clear: “Stubbornness is often just trauma in mask form.” And they tackle the flip side, how embracing healing over performance opens the door to real connection. They question: How long will we let unresolved pain dictate our habits? What if “strength” has kept us silent? And how do we dismantle these defaults when growth feels like betrayal?Plus, Karen's newest book, Your To‑Die‑For Life, is highlighted as a wake‑up call to live with meaning—pushing readers to write aspirational eulogies, build “to‑die‑lists,” and let mortality fuel clarity and purpose—not fear. This is for the man who's emotionally overworked, spiritually numb, or just plain tired of playing strong. You can't outgrow what you won't confront—but you can choose to heal. Press play.
