Label: White Whale 244Year: 1967Condition: M-Last Price: $20.00. Not currently available for sale.Besides having one of this group's best-loved hits on the A side, I also treasure this single for the lovely, tender, and unexpected folk number on the flip, which by the way is an early songwriting credit for a young Warren Zevon, who had recorded the song in 1966 under the pseudonym "Lyme" as part of "Lyme & Cybelle." This is the rare first pressing of the group's first -- and only -- #1 hit single, which has the dark blue White Whale label. This copy has pristine mint audio and comes in its original White Whale factory sleeve.
Is there an organization for the exhibition field? A new initiative is picking up steam. The exhibition community in the US, some say, has recently gone from having “nearly one” professional organization — to none at all. That's because of the unexpected 2023 dissolution of NAME, the National Association for Museum Exhibition, a group within the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). But now a new effort is rising at SEGD, an international organization headquartered in the US. It takes the form of a PPG, or professional practice group, specific to exhibition practitioners. How can everyone in the field access professional development and mentorship? What is the role of networking in a professional community? Should there be better standards for the field?Cybelle Jones (CEO of SEGD) and the cofounders of the new PPG, Steven Rosen (President and Creative Director, Available Light), and George Mayer (Retired Vice President of Business Development, Kubik Maltbie), join host Jonathan Alger (Managing Partner, C&G Partners) to discuss “A New Home for the Exhibition Community.” Along the way: how listeners can get involved, the role of local meetups, and what a survey revealed that people in the field most urgently need.Talking Points:ElevateAdvocateEducateStandardizeSocializeCelebrate How to Listen:Making the Museum: https://www.makingthemuseum.com/podcastApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/making-the-museum/id1674901311 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6oP4QJR7yxv7Rs7VqIpI1G Everywhere: https://makingthemuseum.transistor.fm/ Guest Bios: Cybelle Jones is CEO of SEGD, a multidisciplinary community creating experiences that connect people to place. Bruce Springsteen called him “one of the great, great American songwriters”, Jackson Browne hailed him as “the first and foremost proponent of song noir”, and Stephen King once said that if he could write like him, he “would be a happy guy”. The list of artists that lined up to appear on his records include Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Dave Gilmour and Emmylou Harris. So how is it that most people, if they have heard of Warren Zevon at all, know him only as “that Werewolves' guy”? This book goes beyond that solitary hit single to examine all aspects of Zevon's multifaceted, five-decade career, from his beginnings in the slightly psychedelic folk duo Lyme and Cybelle, through to his commercial breakthrough in the late Seventies with ‘Excitable Boy', his critically acclaimed late Eighties comeback ‘Sentimental Hygiene', his decline into cult obscurity, and his triumphant if heart-breaking final testament, ‘The Wind', released just prior to his death in 2003. Along the way the reader will discover one of rock's consummate balladeers, as well as a cast of characters including doomed drug dealers, psychopathic adolescents, outlaws of the Old West, BDSM fetishists, ghostly gunslingers, an unfeasibly large assembly of apes, and, yes, lycanthropes unleashed on the streets of London.Peter Gallagher is the author of Marc Bolan, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and T. Rex: Every Album, Every Song, a previous volume in Sonicbond's “On Track” series. He is a regular contributor to Shindig! magazine and his fiction has appeared in Writing Magazine and The London Reader. His next book will be “Kiss in the 1970s”, also for Sonicbond, and he is working on a novel set in the Weimar Republic, which he hopes will see publication some time before the cows come home. He lives in Glasgow, Scotland.Listen to a playlist of the music discussed in this episode: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3JyTplSInQCaYPC4cR4daL?si=06e8fb0651ef4363Listen to “Follow Me” (#65 single from 1966) from Warren Zevon's early duo project Lyme and Cybelle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OwklTxG-rQPurchase a copy of "Warren Zevon: Every Album, Every Song" through Burning Shed in the UK: https://burningshed.com/peter-gallagher_warren-zevon-on-track_bookPurchase a copy of "Warren Zevon: Every Album, Every Song" through Amazon in the US: https://www.amazon.com/Warren-Zevon-Every-Album-Song/dp/178952170XThe Booked On Rock Website: www.bookedonrock.comFollow The Booked On Rock with Eric Senich:FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com/bookedonrockpodcastTWITTER: https://twitter.com/bookedonrockINSTAGRAM: www.instagram.com/bookedonrockpodcast/?hl=enSupport Your Local Bookstore!
This episode, we talk about a hack YouTube "comedian"; a crazy conservative crowd mad about having to wear a mask; we review about amazing pizza and beignets from CyBelle's in San Francisco; we decide to try EVERYTHING when we turn 90; and we spotted a man in a top hat, coat, and a cane walking the streets. Label: White Whale 244Year: 1967Condition: MPrice: $150.00Besides having one of this group's best-loved hits on the A side, I also treasure this single for the lovely, tender, and unexpected folk number on the flip, which by the way is an early songwriting credit for a young Warren Zevon, who had recorded the song in 1966 under the pseudonym "Lyme" as part of "Lyme & Cybelle." This is the rare first pressing of the group's first — and only — #1 hit single, which has the dark blue White Whale label. It comes in a nearly flawless picture sleeve... a very rare item that's a first for Classic 45s. Note: This beautiful copy has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio). The picture sleeve's only flaw is a tiny original retail price sticker on one side.

No memory of his wife, children, friends ... nothing. His life was effectively over, but another was just beginning. Leo, Bcom, and Kat discuss week 10 of the Spring 2019 anime season. Bcom kicks things off by poking some fun at Netflix’ new translation of Evangelion. Kat strategizes the best way to give a boy Valentine’s Day chocolates in our discussion of Fruits Basket. The cast of JoJo have an out of body experience in the latest episode and Mista learns the pain of wearing cute panties. We debate whether the crow or a soon-to-be-introduced character from Demon Slayer is the most annoying character of the season. Everyone’s getting extra arms and eyes in Dororo now, as the series comes to its epic climax. Attack on Titan episode “That Day” takes about an entire day to record, because it’s one epic lore dump. Orochimaru apparently showed up in One Punch Man this week, or at least we thought he did. The reveal of Reo’s true name in Sarazanmai absolutely infuriates Bcom who realizes he missed out on 9 weeks of Leo puns. And finally, we close out the episode with some speculation about the latest dramatic events between Tuesday and her stalker Cybelle, who may have ruined the girls’ chances in the Mars Brightest contest.Recorded June 25, 2019. In the daily news and the impending election, the language of “us versus them” is all around us. Aside from turning off the TV (highly recommended), can we turn this annoying verbal barrage to good account by using it to inspire us to be mindful about the ways we speak and think about ourselves and others? What are the perils and benefits of us/them categorizations? When do “they” become “we”? We’ll reflect on themes of Us versus Them in relation to personal identity, world religions, and collaborative forest management. And, of course, there will be time for at least one Hindu folk tale.
The People's Church community has expressed a desire to be "as green as possible." But where do we find motivation to take action and strength to persevere when the crises besetting our wondrous planet seem to escalate while political will evaporates? One resource can be found in accounts of other faith communities striving to foster sustainability. We can learn from their examples as we craft our own UU path forward and we can take heart in knowing that we have companions across religions and nations who are working alongside us to bind together the strands of our interconnected web.
Most religions use ideas of deity/deities to frame conceptions of cosmic and moral order, however, many of us find popular god-concepts inadequate. And yet, humans are relational beings and we often find ourselves yearning for some way to express a sense of connection to something greater than ourselves. We’ll explore some ideas from the Hindu tradition for alternative perspectives on the human-cosmos connection, including ways relationships can foster wisdom and moral actions.
Chad and his charming friend Bradley Clayton discuss Tommy and Cybelle, two small players in the mutant world, casualties from he Morlock Massacre, and both characters queer icons in their own right. Tommy, a pastel rainbow androgynous heroine who can make herself two dimensional. Cybelle, a punk woman who sweats acid. Hear us discuss the surprising legacy of these characters. Warning: trigger warning as this podcast discusses hate crimes, trauma, and extreme violence. Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
