"Hello. My name is Brian Bradley, writer and creator of 90 Degrees South, an An Immersive Audio Drama Podcast and the first drama podcast based at the Amundsen-Scott Research Station located at the South Pole. Our story starts as the US government sends a deputy Marshal to investigate the continent's first homicide. What starts out as a routine investigation becomes something more bizarre than expected. For consideration, This is 90 Degrees South." cw: Murder investigation, discussions of suicide. The oldest of three brothers, all with prodigious surfing talent, Chris Malloy grew up riding waves between Point Conception and Point Mugu, where he learned how to navigate its competitive lineups. By the early 1990s, he was a core member of the Momentum Generation. An injury, however, forced him into the role of observer and ignited a career in filmmaking, resulting in projects like Thicker Than Water (2000), The September Sessions (2002), A Brokedown Melody (2004), One Track Mind (2008), 180 Degrees South (2010), and The Fisherman's Son (2015). He's also done work for brands like Ford and Chevy and Dodge, currently serves as a Patagonia Ambassador, and operates a working ranch not far from where he grew up. In this episode, Malloy sits down with show host Jamie Brisick to talk about his surf odyssey and the highlights of his career, California, the dichotomy between being a bubble-gum pro and traveling missionary, longevity, the importance of immersing oneself in one's environment, Indo trips with Tom Carroll and Kelly Slater, and maintaining a sense of play in life.
In the front half of the show, Erin sits down with Brian Bradley to talk about everything from idea generation to talent acquisition for his podcast 90 Degrees South. In the second half of the show, Justin and David Olsen chat about takeaways from that interview that pertain to School PR. We hope you enjoy our second "What Can We Learn From...." episode!

During our conversation Keith talks about the early days on the North Shore of Oahu, meeting Jeff Johnson and eventually moving back to Ventura to help create the Patagonia surf brand, helping to work on some of his older brother's early films and act as a main character in the classic travel doc "180 Degrees South", and how that would lead him to eventually step into the world of filmmaking himself with multiple full length films, as well as short documentaries and commercial projects under his belt. This episode chronicles the making of host Mike Klein's favorite travel documentary of all time, "180 Degrees South." Guest Jeff Johnson discusses how me met Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia, and how finding some lost tapes of Yvon's early vagabonding led to the making of the film. Jeff learned how to sail, was briefly marooned on Easter Island, but eventually made his way to Southern Chile to reunite with Yvon and they attempted to recreate the climbing trip that inspired the making of the company of Patagonia.

On this week's episode of Culturation™, we speak with the culinary tastemaker, Justin Anthony. We discuss the importance of learning your craft, sacrifice and how to stay true to yourself. Justin is the founder and owner of South African hospitality group, True Story Brands. Born and raised in South Africa, Justin attended the University of South Africa as well as London Business School prior to relocating to the United States at age 23. A renowned soccer player, he hoped to continue his career as a professional athlete, however due to an unfortunate knee injury, he was forced into early retirement and looked to another passion — the hospitality industry. In 1998, Justin opened the first South African restaurant in the United States, 10 Degrees South, alongside his parents, Derek and Diane. Since then True Story Brands has expanded their south african footprint, with the addition of 3 other concepts, Yebo Beach Haus, Cape Dutch and Biltong Bar, each focusing on sharing the lifestyle and experience of South Africa. A recipient of numerous awards, Justin and True Story Brands continue to thrive and enter new ventures. #JustinAnthony #Culturation #PoweredByPremier #Entrepreneur #Restauranteur #Culture #Innovation #JustinEpstein
