Speaking of Mateer, Canzano thinks Mateer will enter the portal and leave WSU. John also offers advice on who Dickert should surround himself on his coaching staff and Puck brings up the name, Dennis Erickson. What was John's takeaway from Oregon's win over Washington? Also, Demond Williams is a star in the making for Washington. Can the Huskies keep him?The story of the turnaround at ASU under Kenny Dillingham is why you love sports. Has the sleeping giant finally awoken in Tempe?
On Tuesday's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by his weekly guests, Danny Kelly, The Ringer and John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com. Puck opens up the show talking about the Seahawks and the five remaining game of the season. Can they three more wins? What steps needs to be taken to improve the running game? Puck tells fans to relax. It's going to be ok. Danny Kelly, The Ringer, joins Jason “Puck” Puckett to talk about the absurd Seahawks game and how close they were to losing the game. The defense is playing at an all-time level right now, especially Leonard Williams. Devon Witherspoon is proving to be the second coming of the Legion of Boom. How to solve the running game? Is the problem with Ryan Grubb or is the problem with the offensive line? Ken Walker and Grubb need to get it going fast because Walker is one hell of a talent. How things have changed for the Seahawks? They are 7-5 and alone in first place! Just three weeks ago, Puck was talking about tanking the season! Danny also touches in on fantasy football and gives Puck his Tuesday weekly wire pick ups. They also put another person on “The Barge” out to the Pacific Ocean. This one is well deserved. This week's guest on The Final Score podcast is Chuck Foreman, the former three-sport star for Frederick High School and football great for the Minnesota Vikings. Foreman chats with host Greg Swatek about the most recent honor he received, as he will be inducted into the ring of honor at his college alma mater, the University of Miami, in October, alongside coaching greats Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson. Foreman talks about why he chose to go to Miami when he had many other offers and the impact playing for the Hurricanes had on the rest of his career and his life. Foreman, the 12th overall pick in the 1973 NFL Draft, also talks about his candidacy for the Pro Football Hall of Fame and why he thinks he has not gotten the call yet. He rushed for almost 6,000 yards, caught 350 passes for more than 3,000 yards and scored 76 touchdowns over the course of an eight-year career with the Minnesota Vikings (seven seasons) and the New England Patriots (one season). Still residing in Minneapolis, Foreman also discusses the Vikings' recent draft choice of Tuscarora High graduate Jordan Addison, who is the highest NFL draft choice (No. 23 overall) from Frederick County since he was selected in '73. Foreman talks about the impact he thinks Addison, a wide receiver, will have with the Vikings and the advice he would share when he gets a chance to speak with him.
Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jon Kitna proved during his football career to be a winner and a leader. After playing three sports at Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington, Kitna walked on at Central Washington University (NAIA), earning the starting quarterback job as a true freshman. Kitna proved he was no fluke leading Central Washington to the NAIA Football National Championship his senior year. After earning a math education degree, Kitna was prepared to teach and coach at the high school level. But, instead, Dennis Erickson saw something in Kitna, signing him to the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 1996. After being waived and signed to the Seahawks practice squad, Kitna was allocated to the World League of American Football and the Barcelona Dragons. It was here that Kitna showed he had the makings to play in the NFL and would play in the league with the Seahawks, Bengals, Detroit Lions, and Dallas Cowboys. However, after finishing his pro career, Kitna started the job he thought was his future all along, becoming a high school coach, the position he holds today as the new head coach at Liberty Township (Ohio) Lakota East High School, where he'll coach his youngest son, Jamison Kitna, a Class of 2025 quarterback prospect who already holds double-digit offers from the likes of Baylor, Duke, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and more. Kitna joined In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss his career, including what may surprise many as his most significant achievement in the game, and respect he has for former teammate Carson Palmer and what he's seen so far from current Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
Locked On Pac-12 - Daily Podcast On Pac-12 Football & Basketball
The Pac-12 is still leaving fans in the dark as they have still not reached a media deal to begin next year once USC and UCLA go to the B1G. The timeline seems to keep moving out, and that's leading people and media members to get angsty--which isn't great for the perception of the Pac-12. Dennis Erickson, Mike Belloti, and Rich Rodriguez all recently weighed in. On today's episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin reacts to the comments of former Pac-12 Football coaches who are worried about the state of the league. Plus, he answers a question about NIL going forward and the positive--and negative--effects it will have (and is already having) on the Pac-12. With the women's tournament ongoing and the men's tournament starting next week, Pac-12 Basketball is (hopefully) preparing for deep runs in March Madness. But first, what's the most likely outcome for the MBB tournament next week in which UCLA and Arizona are the clear favorites? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Sonny Lubick is an icon in Fort Collins, Colorado. The football field at Colorado State University has been in his name at two different stadiums. His first stint at CSU was as an offensive coordinator under Leon Fuller in the early 80's after he was fired from Montana State. He left Fort Collins then when Jack Elway asked him to be on his coaching staff at Stanford. That lasted until Jack and his staff were fired after the 1988 season. From there he joined Dennis Erickson's staff in Washington State for a few weeks before Erickson took the head coaching job at the University of Miami. Sonny followed and was part of two National Championships with the Hurricanes. He became CSU's head coach in 1993 where he guided the Rams to 6 conference titles and 9 bowl games. Everybody loved (and still loves) Sonny. On November 26, 2007, CSU beat Wyoming and it was Sonny's last game coaching the Rams. Fans at the game didn't know their favorite coach was being fired, but Sonny, his coaches and a few others (including the host of this podcast) did. His firing was made official a few days later. In Part Two, we start in 1993 and dive into his 15 years as the Rams head coach, his stunning firing and the new paths his life has taken since.

Orange Bowl BoysChapter #1: Joaquin Said ConcentrateShow NotesMario Cristobal is coming home to Miami. Cristobal, who helped lead the University of Miami to two national championships in 1989 and 1991 as a standout offensive lineman, has been named the University's 26th football head coach, President Julio Frenk announced today (Dec. 6). One of college football's most highly regarded coaches, Cristobal returns to his alma mater after leading the University of Oregon to three straight Pac-12 Conference championship game appearances and two Pac-12 titles. He is the only coach in the nation whose team has played in a Power Five conference championship game in each of the past three seasons.“We are incredibly excited to welcome Mario, his wife, Jessica, and their sons Mario Mateo and Rocco home to Miami,” Frenk said. “Mario's legacy as a student-athlete at the U is well established. And the standard for competitive excellence that he and his teammates helped establish is one to which we continue to aspire. Our selection, however, was not one based in nostalgia for a proud past, but rather in a bold vision for a promising future.“The characteristics that helped Mario excel as a national championship-winning player—drive, determination, and discipline—continue to propel his success as a coach. In Mario we have found a head coach who shares our belief in providing student-athletes with the very best opportunities to succeed on and off the field, and our commitment to winning at the highest level.”“My family and I are excited to return home to the University of Miami, which has been so instrumental in shaping me as a person, player, and coach,” Cristobal said. “This program has an unparalleled tradition and an exciting future ahead of it. I can't wait to compete for championships and help mold our student-athletes into leaders on and off the field who will make our University, our community, and our loyal fan base proud.”Cristobal's move to Miami brings his coaching career full circle. A son of South Florida who played prep football at nearby Christopher Columbus High School, he launched his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach at Miami from 1998 to 2000 under head coach Butch Davis. He served as an assistant coach at Rutgers from 2001 to 2003 and then returned to Miami as an assistant coach from 2004 to 2006 under head coach Larry Coker. In 2007, Cristobal was named head coach at Florida International University, becoming the first Cuban American head coach in FBS history. He inherited a struggling FIU program that had been winless the year before his arrival and, in just his fourth season, led it to the Sun Belt Conference title and a bowl-game victory. That season, 2010, he was named Sun Belt Coach of the Year. In total, he coached six seasons at FIU, from 2007 to 2012.Cristobal, who played his Hurricanes career under coaches Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson, was an All-Big East selection in 1992. He is a double-alumnus of the University of Miami, earning a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree from the University. Cristobal was born in Miami on Sept. 24, 1970. He and his wife, Jessica, married in June 2006 and are the parents of two sons, Mario Mateo and Rocco.Sponsors: Ed Morse Automotive Group, BeatinTheBookie.com & CaneswearOrange Bowl Boys are owned and produced by OBB Media Inc. We have a lot to talk about tonight. A lot of recruiting news. Should there be an early signing period and the ability to send in your LOI at an earlier time if you are completely sure of your commitment. And, we will talk to Chad Wilson about his new camp All Eyes DB. Among the 49 current and former UM athletes going through graduation ceremonies last week was Chad Wilson. Nothing odd about that except that Wilson received his bachelor's degree in business management a few days shy of turning 39. Before returning to school last year, Wilson last attended a class at UM in 1995. Since then, Wilson had started a family, opened a small business and gotten into coaching.“Nothing like being dressed up in your cap and gown with gray hair sitting next to some 22-year-old,” said Wilson, a cornerback from 1992-94 under the Dennis Erickson-coached Hurricane Wilson said. “I have three kids, I'm a dad and I'm a husband, I have a business and I'm also a football coach. It was very difficult for me to juggle those things. But Wilson thought it was well
