See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

After a long layoff, prospects were back on Georgia's campus this weekend for the annual Scavenger Hunt. The Bulldogs hosted over a dozen major targets over the past few days and DawgsHQ's Jake Rowe and Rusty Mansell have a lot to say about it. UGA moved the needle for some of those guys and it's an event that should pay big dividends down the road. The DawgsHQ staffers also discuss Jesse Simonton's position-unit rankings. Georgia was in the top 10 of every single one of Simonton's breakdowns and that includes all but two units in the top five. Did Simonton get it right? Learn more about your ad choices. Amanda Simonton is a professional development expert and co-leads Revolution Retreat, a holistic wellness project. She spends time in a corporate setting, running wellness and professional development programs for a technology company. She also co-leads Revolution Retreat, which is a personal project focused on holistic wellness and inclusive retreats. Amanda discusses the limitations of the work-life balance dichotomy and the importance of viewing all aspects of life as overlapping and interconnected.
In April 1961, Eagle River, Wisconsin chicken farmer and plumber Joe Simonton reported that a flying saucer landed just outside of his rural home and, after a seamless hatch on the craft opened, an extraterrestrial emerged holding a strange jug and beckoned the stunned Simonton to fetch him some water. Simonton obliged the alien creature and was rewarded with four pancakes that were freshly cooked by another alien being inside the craft. A flabbergasted Simonton, upon receiving the extraterrestrial food, stood in awe as the craft rose silently into the sky and zipped off in a span of two seconds. Simonton joins the boys to talk Season 2, Episode 5 "Circle of Fear"!
On 26 June 1858, COL Albert Sidney Johnston ordered his troops forward, marching them towards Salt Lake City. For over a year, they had endured cold, hunger, and grueling marches. Now, as they entered Salt Lake City, they found it abandoned -- other than a few Soldiers of the Nauvoo Legion, who stood ready to set the city ablaze if Johnston's Soldiers began rampaging. How did Johnston's Army feel about this ambiguous end to a year-long campaign? How did Latter-day Saints deal with uncertainty amid Army patrols and evacuation orders? And how effective were these military measures, when the spirited young men and women of Pioneer Utah wanted to be together? On this episode, we explore: ○ Johnston's Decision to March to Salt Lake City before he could be reinforced -- and all the glory for a successful campaign stolen -- by General William S. Harney. ○ The Nauvoo Legion's efforts to evacuate the city and prepare it for burning.○ How the young men and women of pioneer Utah creatively defied evacuation orders, armed sentries, and patrols, to be together. ○ Johnston's march through Salt Lake City, despite the taunting appearance of BG James Ferguson and the Nauvoo Legion Cavalry. ○ Mixed reactions -- both of disappointment and awe -- at entering Salt Lake City. ○ Loud complaints of New York Times correspondent James Simonton at the distance that the Latter-day Saint women maintained from both him and the Army -- and one obvious reason why that Simonton seemingly overlooked. ○ The end of the Utah War and tribute to Thomas L. Kane of Pennsylvania. For the materials and sources in this story, we owe a special thanks to Utah War historian William "Bill" MacKinnon - His two-volume set, "At Sword's Point: A Documentary History of the Utah War to 1858" is an extraordinary resource for anyone interested in learning more about the Utah War. he paper we will be discussing in this episode is entitled ‘Fame as an Illusion of Creativity : Evidence from the Pioneers of Abstract Art', in which today's guest, Banerjee Mitali, strives to answer the following question : what are the main factors that determine an artist's likeness to become famous. Mitali, who is currently an assistant professor of strategy and business policy at HEC in Paris, was unsatisfied with the current research, quoting from her intro: “Little work has explored the factors that shape a producer's fame in creative markets. Much of what exists, notably Simonton's (1980) research, has focused on creativity as the sole driver of an innovator's fame. However, the extant evidence is mixed regarding the link between creativity and fame”. In this discussion Mitali describes how her innovative empirical approach, where she partnered with the MoMA to analyze the social connections between 90 leading artists of the early 20th century, shows that one's social context is among the strongest indicator of potential fame. As she explains it : “ past work overlooks a key insight that creativity in cultural and entrepreneurial contexts is itself a function of the social structure in which an individual is embedded”. So without further ado here is Mitali Banerjee to discuss ‘Fame as an Illusion of Creativity'.
