My name is Nelson John, wishing all our listeners a very happy Dhanteras. Let's get started. Inflation, no more? That's what the International Monetary Fund, or IMF, thinks. In a recent economic review, the IMF declared that the global battle against inflation has "largely been won". That means that most countries across the globe have either met or are very close to their inflation targets. N. Madhavan explains that despite that, growth forecasts remain low. Projections for global economic growth have stabilised at 3.2% in 2024, slightly down from 3.3% in 2023. With a growth rate of 7%, India fares well in this aspect. However, global risks such as geopolitical conflicts, trade protectionism, and potential economic slowdowns remain significant — hence the low growth projections. When the Indian government liberalised the economy in 1991, domestic conglomerates were worried: a sudden change challenged their collective dominance. That was 30 years ago. Safe to say, the dominance of empires like Reliance, Tata, Adani, and Kotak, among others has assuaged those fears. Our partners at How India Lives . com write that corporate India had a resurgence in the late 2010s, led by a huge influx of cash. As banks ran out of credible entities to loan money to, India Inc. stepped up — and never looked back. Ultimately, they conclude that conglomerates aren't going anywhere, anytime soon, while the medium-sized ones might have to reconsider their positions, or perish. RBI is set to boost its digital security measures by introducing an AI-driven early warning system. This system will be designed to alert users to potential financial fraud during transactions. The initiative aims to tackle emerging threats in the digital finance space by leveraging AI to analyze data, identify high-risk platforms, and notify users of suspicious activities in real time. Subhash Naryan reports that this system will build on existing technologies like the MuleHunter AI, which detects mule accounts used in fraud schemes.  The government is planning to shift its strategy for PSUs. Instead of rushing to sell them off, the government now wants to work on their operational efficiency and governance, reports Gulveen Aulakh. The plan, sources told Gulveen, focuses on transforming these PSUs into professionally managed entities capable of yielding substantial dividends and potentially achieving higher market valuations through future public listings. In recent initiatives, specific PSUs like Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd are receiving targeted interventions to address their financial and operational challenges, with plans ranging from restructuring packages to debt resolution strategies.  The Open Network for Digital Commerce is launching an initiative to deliver groceries and other items within 30 minutes to two hours. The government-backed e-commerce network is looking to tap into the growing popularity of quick commerce in India, Sowmya Ramasubramanian reports. This move will involve collaborations with ElasticRun, Ola, and PhonePe's buyer app Pincode, utilizing their dark stores and delivery networks to enable rapid delivery services.

Nous sommes aussi au début de la saison des mariages et il n'y a pas de Shaadi sans des dizaines de grammes d'or pour embellir la mariée - des bijoux qui lui serviront aussi de dot.L'Inde est déjà l'un des deux plus grands consommateurs d'or au monde avec la Chine et la demande a été tellement forte que les importations indiennes du métal jaune ont atteint leur plus haut niveau en octobre depuis un an et demi. Cela a bien sûr un impact sur son tarif : ces derniers jours, le prix de l'or a dépassé la barre symbolique des 2000 dollars l'once (28 grammes), l'un des plus hauts pics de son histoire. L'or, valeur refugeMais ce ne sont pas que les festivals qui font gonfler ces prix : le conflit en Israël a aussi alarmé les marchés et poussé les investisseurs à se tourner vers cette valeur refuge. L'or s'est en effet apprécié de 14% en un an, ce qui en fait un très bon placement, même en comparaison des bons rendements de la bourse indienne, par exemple.L'État indien semble être du même avis : la Banque centrale a également acheté 9 tonnes d'or au dernier trimestre. Cet attrait pour ce métal précieux est d'autant plus grand ces jours-ci que le dollar est à son taux le plus bas depuis deux mois et demi. As the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras marks the beginning of pre-Diwali festivities today, jewellers are expecting stronger sales. Industry players are expecting customers to spend and invest in jewellery for asset building after two years of uncertainty. People too are thronging the jewellery shops as the Covid-19 pandemic is almost in check and so are the gold prices.   The data backs the hopes. According to a recent report by World Gold Council, the demand for gold jewellery in India surged 58 per cent year-on-year to 96.2 tonnes during the July-September quarter due to a strong pent-up demand, bouncing back sharply from the lows seen during the pandemic in 2020.   In a recent interview with Business Standard, Somasundaram PR, India managing director of WGC, said: “We expect this quarter to be one of the best in recent years, benchmarked to pre-Covid-19 seasons. Pent-up demand, soft prices and good monsoon, combined with easing of lockdown across regions, bode well for a strong surge in demand.”   So, is the jewellery demand set to skyrocket during the current festive season? Should you invest in the related stocks to add sparkle to your portfolio?   Well, if tech charts are anything to go buy, the bullish momentum in related stocks is intact despite over 100 per cent returns since last Dhanteras.   Titan Company Likely target: Rs 3,000 Upside potential: 25% Support: Rs 2,300   Goldiam International Likely target: Rs 1,150 to 1,220 Upside potential: 22% to 24% Support: Rs 900   Thangamayil Jewellery Likely target: Rs 1,650 Upside potential: 11% Support: Rs 1,080 and Rs 1,200   Kalyan Jewellers India Likely target: Rs 82 and Rs 90 Upside potential: 5.50% to 16% Support: Rs 73   While shares of Titan Company, Thangamayil Jewellery and Goldiam International have more than doubled during the period, they are expected to rally up to 25 per cent from here on. Sector giant Titan, for instance, is on course to hit the Rs 3,000 mark, which is a 25 per cent upside from current levels. Those of Goldiam International, meanwhile, can rally 24 per cent to Rs 1,220 levels. Thangamayil and Kalyan Jewellers are also eyeing up to 16 per cent return over the medium term.   Clearly, cooled off prices and sticky inflation have put the spotlight on gold investment as a hedging strategy. And if the demand outlook for the yellow metal is strong, related stocks in the equity segment should remain on investor radar.     Now, apart from jewellery stocks, investors may also keep a tab on shares of Bharti Airtel, Bank of India, Dabur, Godrej Properties, and HPCL as these companies are some of the prominent firms slated to report their September quarter earnings later today.   Within the lot, Sunil Mittal-led Bharti Airtel is expected to post an impressive sequential growth in net profit for the July-September quarter on the back of a steady subscriber base and tariff hike in select pre- and post-paid plans. While ARPU, or average revenue per user, is expected to rise 5-7 per cent sequentially, the Street anticipates the revenue to rise around 9 per cent year-on-year. Net profit, meanwhile, is projected to come anywhere between Rs 675 crore and Rs 774 crore.   That apart, primary market action will also keep investors on their toes today. Initial public offering of Policybazaar, Sigachi Industries, and SJS Enterprises will enter second day today while that of Fino Payments Bank will close later in the day.   Globally, the US Federal Reserve will begin its two-day monetary policy meeting late evening today with an outcome due tomorrow.   Yesterday, markets reversed their 3-day losing streak led by renewed buying interest in IT and select financial shares. The BSE Sensex reclaimed the 60,000 mark, and settled with a gain of 831 points at 60,138.   The NSE Nifty, on the other hand, ended 258 points higher at 17,930. In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap index surged 1.8 per cent, while the SmallCap index moved up 1.1 per cent.

Diwali festival is the festival of lights. It is one of the main Indian Festivals, which falls at a time when people are preparing the starting of Winters.  Diwali Festival is also called Deepavali, which means a row of lights. It falls on the New Moon Night of Kartik month according to Hindu calender.  Significance of Diwali is that it is celebrated to commemorate Lord Ram's return to Ayodhya after defeating demon king Ravana with the help of his brother Lakshman, Lord Hanuman and his Vaanar Sena and rescuing Sitaji from him. It is believed that this return was celebrated by the people of Ayodhya by lighting diyas and illuminating the entire city, thus it is called Festival of Lights. How people celebrate Diwali in India: People in the entire country start preparing for this one of the greatest Indian Festivals by starting to clean their houses, color them etc. They also celebrate this festival for at least five days. Day 1 is DhanTeras, Day 2 is Narak Chaudas, Day 3 is Main Diwali, Day 4 is Govardhan Pooja, and day % is Bhai Dooj. On the main day they wear new traditional clothes, pray to Goddess Lakshmi, illuminate their houses with candles, diyas and lights, and burst crackers to express their happiness. Lord Dhanvantari is the God of Ayurveda and one of Vishnu’s many avatars. The Vedas and Puranas describe him as the physician of the gods. Hindus pray to Dhanvantari for relief from diseases and sound health. He is said to have emerged from the Milky Ocean during Samudra Manthan. Ayurveda doctors celebrate his birthday on Dhanteras. Chanting this Mantra helps invoke his blessings for protecting one from illness and restoring good health.

Dhanteras 2020 in India will be celebrated on Friday, 13 November this year. Dhanteras is also known as Dhanatrayodashi and marks the first day of one of the biggest Hindu festivals Diwali. Dhanteras falls on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the Hindu calendar month of Kartik (October-November). Hindus worship Lord Dhanvantari - the God of Ayurveda - on the day of Dhanteras. It's said that Lord Dhanvantari imparted the wisdom of Ayurveda for the betterment of mankind, and to help rid it of the suffering of disease. On the day of Dhanteras, Lakshmi Puja is performed in the evening, and lamps of clay (Diyas) are lit. As per Hindu tradition, Dhanteras is considered an extremely auspicious day for making new purchases, especially of gold or silver articles and new utensils. Demand for gold dropped to 892 tons in July-September period, as consumers and investors continued to battle the effects of the global pandemic. Although jewelry demand improved from the previous three months record low, the combination of continued social restrictions, economic slowdown and a high gold price was a hindrance for many jewelry buyers. Between January and end-September, the US-dollar gold price had increased by 25%.  According to World Gold Council data India’s demand for gold fell 30% to 86.6 tons in July-September. Indian stocks are set to start the week on a negative note amid cues from its Asian peers on any new headlines on the Sino-US trade war ahead of a meeting of the leaders of the world’s two biggest economies later this month. The festival of Dhanteras falls in the month of Kartik (Oct-Nov) on the thirteenth day of the dark fortnight. On the day of Dhanteras, business premises are renovated and decorated. Entrances are made colorful with lanterns and traditional motifs of Rangoli designs to welcome the Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity .On Dhanteras Hindus consider it auspicious to purchase gold or silver articles or at least one or two new utensils. It is believed that new "Dhan" or some form of precious metal is a sign of good luck. Dhanteras is celebrated with gusto and enthusiasm. "Lakshmi Puja" is performed in the evenings when tiny diyas of clay are lit to drive away the shadows of evil spirits.
