Hafsah bint Umar رضي الله عنهم (S4) Our mother رضي الله عنها was taught how to read, write, perform ruqyah and treat ant bites by Layla رضي الله عنها, who was known as ‘as-Shifa' رضي الله عنها. Ali (رضي الله عنه): “Teach yourself, and your families all that is good”. A common misconception is that women should be kept away from an education - the complete opposite to what the Salaf practiced. Hafsah رضي الله عنها narrated 60 Hadith, and was one of our messenger's ﷺ most learned wives. Allah ﷻ Himself praised Hafsah رضي الله عنها for her worship: “She fasts frequently, stands for long at night, she is your wife in Paradise” She رضي الله عنها observed fasting all the way into her old age.

We urgently require 3,000 of you to support our 100% independent media platform amplifying Palestinian voices against attempted erasure, from just £1 per month: https://www.palestinedeepdive.com/support Palestinian medical doctor Dr Mohammed Ashraf provides a harrowing account to Palestinian journalist Ahmed Alnaouq about his experience treating Gaza's sick and wounded under Israeli genocide. Over several months, 28-year-old Dr Ashraf who is from Gaza, treated hundreds of patients in the al-Shifa and al-Kuwaiti Hospitals, including undertaking a lower-leg amputation on a patient with no anaesthetic, as none was available due to Israel's tightening of the blockade amid its ongoing genocide. PDD host, Ahmed Alnaouq, is a Palestinian journalist from Gaza and co-founder of We Are Not Numbers. On October 22, Israel bombed Ahmed's family home killing most of his close family. Dr Ashraf recounts a heartbreaking story of receiving a young Palestinian girl whose family had been killed in an Israeli missile strike. Waking up in hospital, alone and her face covered in shrapnel, she asks, “Doctor, am I in heaven?” She tells Dr Ashraf that her mother had promised she would wake up in a calm, peaceful environment, “going to heaven directly” if Israel did indeed attack their family home. She died in hospital shortly after her question to Dr Ashraf.   Support us: https://www.palestinedeepdive.com/support Twitter: https://twitter.com/PDeepdive Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pdeepdivegram/ Daily news: https://palestinedeepdive.us4.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=2931c4b53e89e695a30817efb&id=ea848d5a28

In this episode of the Reading with Your Kids podcast, we dive into the world of middle grade novels in verse with author Shifa Saltagi Safadi. Shifa discusses her new book, "Kareem Between," which follows a Syrian American seventh-grader navigating the challenges of identity, belonging, and discrimination in 2017 America. Shifa shares how the novel's themes of political policies, like the "Muslim ban," directly impact young people like Kareem, who is torn between his Syrian and American identities. The host and Shifa explore the importance of diverse storytelling, using Kareem's love of football as a relatable way to connect with readers. We also hear from Candace Jones, who shares her personal journey of having two premature babies in the NICU. Candace's experiences inspired her to create the "Melody's Little Library" initiative, which collects donated books to provide comfort and connection for NICU families. Finally, we chat with author Angela Smith about her empowering children's books, "I Am Me, Unique and Free" and "I Love Myself." Angela discusses the power of affirmations and self-reflection to help children (and adults) overcome negative messages and learn to love themselves. Throughout the episode, the host and guests emphasize the importance of unity, finding common ground, and prioritizing relationships to create a more compassionate and inclusive society. This conversation is a must-listen for parents, educators, and anyone interested in the transformative power of children's literature. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Today is day 177 of the war with Hamas. Military reporter Emanuel Fabian joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. An off-duty Israel Defense Forces officer was stabbed and lightly wounded in a terror attack at Beersheba's central bus station this morning. Fabian updates. A gunman who carried out a terror shooting attack in the West Bank near Jericho last week, wounding three Israelis, including a 13-year-old boy, turned himself in to troops, defense sources said Sunday. Fabian takes us through the attack. The Israel Defense Forces on Saturday denied carrying out a strike in southern Lebanon against a vehicle with United Nations peacekeepers, after Lebanese security officials accused it of targeting the car in a Reuters report. What makes the IDF so sure it wasn't involved? On Friday, the Washington Post reported that a new arms package from the US includes 1,800 MK-84 2,000-pound bombs and 500 MK-82 500-pound bombs, along with 25 F-35s that were initially approved as part of a larger package by Congress in 2008. What is the timing on delivery and will these bombs likely be used in Gaza, or potentially in Lebanon? The fighting in Gaza's Shifa Hospital has been ongoing for the past two weeks. Instead of being an embarrassment for Israel that hundreds of terrorists regrouped in the semi-notorious medical center, Fabian proposes that Israel intended to lay a trap. A historic High Court of Justice interim order Thursday evening bars the government from providing funds to ultra-Orthodox yeshivas for students eligible for IDF enlistment — as the legal framework for deferring their military service no longer exists as of today at midnight. But is the IDF even remotely ready to begin drafting tens of thousands of haredi youth? For the latest updates, please see The Times of Israel's ongoing live blog. Discussed articles include: Live blog March 31, 2024 IDF officer lightly hurt in terror stabbing at Beersheba central bus station Terrorist who fired on vehicles in West Bank last week turns self in IDF denies Lebanese claim it struck vehicle carrying UN peacekeepers US approves transfer of over 2,000 bombs, 25 F-35s to Israel — report IDF, Shin Bet say several senior Hamas terrorists killed as Shifa op continues THOSE WE HAVE LOST: Civilians and soldiers killed in Hamas's onslaught on Israel THOSE WE ARE MISSING: The hostages and victims whose fate is still unknown Subscribe to The Times of Israel Daily Briefing on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Today is day 173 of the war with Hamas. Military correspondent Emanuel Fabian joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. A 25-year-old man has been declared dead after being pulled out of a building struck by a Hezbollah rocket in Kiryat Shmona's industrial zone after yesterday, the IDF conducted its deepest strike in Lebanon amid the Israel-Hamas war, some 110 kilometers from Israel's border. Fabian gives updates. The Israeli Air Force also carried out airstrikes in the predawn hours of Tuesday morning in eastern Syria, targeting Iranian assets and operatives involved in a recent plot to smuggle advanced arms to West Bank terrorists. We learn how members of Iran's Unit 4000, the Special Operations Division of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps' Intelligence Organization, and the special operations unit of the IRGC's Quds Force in Syria, known as Unit 18840, were eliminated. The Palestinian death toll in routine overnight clashes with Israeli forces in Jenin has risen to three. Fabian weighs in on how the operations in the West Banks have shifted since the beginning of Operation Breaking the Wave two years ago. This morning the IDF said its raid on Gaza City's Shifa Hospital is ongoing, with the military saying troops killed dozens of gunmen and captured weapons over the past day. Yesterday, the IDF released video footage of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives detailing how the terror groups used the hospital as a base for terror operations. What else does the IDF hope to learn? The Israel Defense Forces' top spokesman on Tuesday confirmed that the deputy commander of Hamas's military wing, Marwan Issa, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the central Gaza Strip earlier this month. What do we know about the power structure of Hamas now? For the latest updates, please see The Times of Israel's ongoing live blog. Today's Headlines: In a significant development, Maine's state Supreme Court has ruled to remove Donald Trump from the state's Republican primary ballot, citing the 14th Amendment, which prohibits individuals who have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the Constitution from becoming president. This follows a similar ruling by the Colorado state Supreme Court. Currently, at least 35 states are considering challenges to Trump's candidacy related to his actions surrounding the January 6th events. Notably, two Republican candidates, Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis, pledged to pardon Trump if elected president and he is convicted of the numerous felony charges he faces. Meanwhile, the situation in Gaza remains dire, with Israeli military operations persisting despite a death toll exceeding 20,000. Investigative reports reveal disturbing acts of sexual violence against hostages held by Hamas, leading to calls for accountability. Additionally, South Africa has initiated a case at the UN accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza. Internationally, the conflict in the Red Sea involving Iran-funded Houthi rebels continues, with the US Navy destroying three boats after an attempted attack on a container ship. In the US, notable state-specific headlines include California's new law banning firearms in most public places, Illinois implementing laws on semi-automatic weapons and book bans, and Ohio's Republican Governor Mike DeWine vetoing a bill restricting transgender healthcare for minors. Ending on a positive note, the homicide rate in the United States dropped by 13% in 2023 compared to the previous year, despite public perception indicating otherwise.
