True Fiction Project

In this revisited episode of the True Fiction Project, I speak with Diann Wingert, psychotherapist turned business mindset coach and the host of the Driven Woman Podcast. Why are people so fascinated by Anna Delvey/Anna Sorokin, who bilked her way through the New York social scene? As a psychotherapist, Diann was particularly intrigued by her motivation – what drove this seemingly successful young woman to engage in such fraudulent behavior? Interestingly, much of Anna's motivation can be traced back to her childhood. She was always a bright and imaginative child, but she was also drawn to the finer things in life. This combination of factors likely contributed to her later sense of entitlement and her willingness to take whatever she felt she deserved – even if it meant breaking the law.Tune in as Diann Wingert explains where Anna's personality pathology starts to develop, personality of entrepreneurs vs signs of narcissism, and the real reason audiences like stories where humans are missing morals. Later in the episode, we hear a fictional story written by Parker James.Shifting Weight - A Fictional Story in Print  IN THIS EPISODE:[03:42] Anna Sorokin's personality and what was really the driving force behind her?[10:23] Creative people need to go where creative things are happening. For Anna, that was Paris.[14:00] Diann Wingert explains Anna's personality pathology starts to develop in New York[18:40] Someone called Anna a sociopath and she considered it a compliment. [24:00] Why do we like stories where humans are missing morals?[31:55] Diann talks about age and maturity[34:40] The common ambition shaming of women [38:18] FICTION: Shifting Weight written by Parker James[40:34] Justin James sauntered into the house[41:50] I need you to wire me $2,000, please KEY TAKEAWAYS:Celebrities who came from humble beginnings knew that their hometown was not where they belongedMost people will continue to live a lifestyle and have very close expectations to what they grew up The flaw in her psychological makeup is that she didn't have empathy for the people that she was taking advantage of People are drawn to flawed characters because every one of us has the potential to be arrogant, manipulative, to be an opportunist, to be dishonest. Although we like to watch them fall so we can be reminded that we in fact are not, reassuring us of our own moralityDiann Wingert talks about age and maturity. Does it come as a result of being incarcerated or as she aged and matured We admire, applaud, support, and encourage ambition in males. But girls are supposed to be modest. We are supposed to accept what is offered to women. But men do. So why is this? BIO:Diann Wingert is a psychotherapist turned business mindset coach who serves the growing number of female solopreneurs who struggle with self-employment after successful corporate or nonprofit careers by helping them identify and eliminate the obstacles that hold them back so they can embrace their full potential for success. She is an expert in the mental health challenges of entrepreneurship and how ADHD presents in adult women and entrepreneurs.LINKS:Check out HelloFresh and use my code 50truefictionproject for a great deal: https://www.hellofresh.com/Diann Wingert is a psychotherapist turned business mindset coach who serves the growing number of female solopreneurs.WEBSITE: http://diannwingertcoaching.com/PODCAST: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-driven-woman/id1513039926INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/coachdiannwingert/LINKED IN: https://www.linkedin.com/in/diannwingertcoaching/HXGO - New Delhi Song Our Sponsors:* Check out HelloFresh and use my code 50truefictionproject for a great deal: https://www.hellofresh.com/Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

As individuals with ADHD, by the time we are adults, we have experienced and internalized hundreds of thousands of negative inputs about who we are and how we are.  This can create defensiveness, people-pleasing, perfectionism, social anxiety, oppositional behavior, and other defense mechanisms. But one thing we need to recognize and talk about openly is shame.  Our guest Diann Wingert, therapist turned coach, says it is the elephant in the room for adults with ADHD. Diann gives us a general definition of shame and explains the difference between guilt and shame. She also gives people a few basic examples of shame then you may be able to relate to. Diann also explains why she has called shame and ADHD, the elephant in the room. She discusses why for people with ADHD, making mistakes can equal shame and the habits we can build to get ourselves out of this pattern. And Diann gives us a road map for tackling shame in our lives, including understanding self-awareness, forgiveness, understanding that shame is a spectrum, and understanding how to take an honest look at situations in our lives that we can avoid. I can hardly believe I'm writing this, but this is the last episode of The Driven Woman Entrepreneur Podcast for 2022, and if you are anything like me, and the rest of the self-employed women I know, you are tired. You may even be somewhere closer to exhausted or even burned out. I talk with many, many women business owners, and this seems to be the year that many of us expected would be our bounce-back but have found it to be a year of busting our butts with far too little ROI. I am a driven woman entrepreneur, like you, and wanted to end this year with something more than platitudes and positive thinking. Instead, I want to stimulate conversation about why we are all feeling so fatigued and offer an alternative to the extremes of manifestation and hustle. Some of the biggest names in the coaching industry have learned everything they know from male mentors and then turned around and sold them to other women, without disclosing their own privilege and what it actually takes to run their business. Maybe we need a different approach altogether, one that resonates with most women, women like you and me. So, what better way to end this year than with the anti-hustle alternative, who better to have as my guest to describe it, than Jadah Sellner, who published a brand new best-selling book on the topic, called ‘She Builds: The Anti-Hustle Guide to Grow Your Business & Nourish Your Life”? If you don't yet know Jadah, she is a bestselling author, business coach, international keynote speaker, TEDx presenter, poet, and host of the Lead with Love® podcast. She has been featured in Forbes, O, The Oprah Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal. Learn more at jadahsellner.com or follow her on social media at @jadahsellner. Joanne was in public service and I worked in nonprofits. In her current role, Joanne is on a mission to help female solopreneurs overcome their fears of negotiation so they can go after and get what they deserve and desire. Joanne is a leadership coach and consultant, a women's negotiation advisor, course creator, and speaker who helps women around the world ditch their discomfort around negotiation, and leverage strategies that actually work for women. In this lively convo, we talk about the 5 blindspots that cause women to settle for less than they want in negotiations, and how to get comfortable going from the minimum level to the dignified level to the generous level. We talk about feminine conditioning, why negotiating like a man just won't work for most women, and how we can use empathy to create better outcomes for both sides, instead of allowing empathy to be used against us. I love helping female solopreneurs find their genius, so they can create a satisfying and sustainable business doing what they do best. Today's guest is client Meredith Ferguson, who decided to work with me because she had two fledging businesses and neither of them was profitable.  She had a lot of natural talent but no systems and no boundaries.  She wanted a legitimate business but was literally giving her work away and because she wasn't taking herself seriously as a business owner, no one else did either. We worked together for several months in my 1:1 coaching program, and one of the first things we did was to set her Pilates business on auto-pilot so she would focus on her website design business.  Then, it was time to get busy creating boundaries, eliminating bartering, and being a beck-and-call-girl for everyone who needed help with their website but wasn't paying for it.  Getting rid of the “freeples” (people who want what you've got and expect to get it for nothing) and learning to value her time and skill were some of Meredith's biggest Boss Up moves during our work together.  Highlights of this convo:Dealing with imposter syndrome because you don't have “credentials”Discovering her superpower and seeing its value in the eyes of others Owning up to her part in being taken advantage of by others Networking to market your services when you have social anxiety Giving yourself grace when things interrupt your business momentum Mic Drop Moment:  “I always heard that you teach people how to treat you but I didn't get it until now.  If you don't communicate your boundaries, you can't expect people to know what they are.”  Meredith Ferguson Want your website to do more for your business than just sit there? Our conversation today is about how to partner with your VA so that they can accelerate your business growth and profit.   Want to connect with Belinda Sandor?  Let me count the ways! RocketGirl Solutions: https://rocketgirlsolutions.com/The VA Connection: https://www.thevaconnection.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/belindawasser/Want Belinda's help to hire your very own VA? https://thevaconnection.mykajabi.com/hire A virtual assistant can be a tremendous asset in your business, but just having one isn't going to solve every problem, especially if those challenges are related to your business mindset.  Mindset tends to be overlooked by many solopreneurs who don't really understand why they are stuck at a certain level of business growth or income.  I created this quiz to help you figure out the underlying reason you feel stuck.  Take the quiz and get your personalized result, as well as the first steps for what to do about it!    What's Holding You Back?    https://bit.ly/obstaclesquizIs Your Business Slower in the Summer? If you need the focused attention on your business & life that is only available through 1:1 coaching, click here to schedule a free 30-minute consultation with Diann to see if her 12-week private coaching program is right for you.  Summer is a slower time for many businesses, so why not spent this summer investing in yourself? Free Consultation for 1:1 Coaching Want to add yourself to the waitlist for our next round of coaching groups?  There is no obligation, but if you want to get more information, you need to be on the list, so click here:    Group Coaching Waitlist Before you bounce, don't forget to leave a review of The Driven Woman Podcast.  It really does help other Driven Women find the showApple: https://apple.co/2BZDFzcAndroid: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-driven-woman-1194485Don't forget to join us next week for Episode #117 when I return with a solo episode called “From Chasing Clients to In Demand”. I just love inviting someone I have worked with to join me on the podcast for a Client Success Story episode.   As you will hear in the preview to this one,  I do not interview my clients during or immediately after we have completed my 12 week coaching program, when the bond is strong and they are flying high on how much we have accomplished together.  I wait a few months, because I am not interested in only helping my clients during the time they are actively working with me.  My goal is to set them up for the kind of success that lasts,  and that they can maintain on their own.  In this convo, you will meet my client Pam Peterson, who is a health and wellness coach, specializing in working with women with chronic pain in a mind-body-brain framework.  Pam has a masters degree, a bunch of certifications and has learned what actually works for chronic pain, because she has been living with it for years.  Pam and I talk about:  How much she accomplished during our three months togetherThe mindset shifts she made and sustained The challenges she experienced and how we overcame them Why I am not the easiest coach to work with, but just right for herHow she has been able to maintain her momentum after working with me If you'd like to connect with Pam Peterson, here are a few ways to do so:Website: https://www.coachpampeterson.com/Book a  consultation: https://calendly.com/coach-pam-peterson/30min?month=2022-06Free chronic pain guide: https://subscribepage.com/a8a3p9Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@coachpampetersonIG: https://www.instagram.com/coach.pam.peterson/Pam knew what was standing in her way before hiring me, but but most of us just know we aren't making progress without being clear about why. This is a conversation I have been looking forward to having for quite a while because my guest, Laura Khalil specializes in helping female consultants make $250K. First off,   I was intensely curious, why $250K,  when the majority of business coaches and consultants are talking about helping their clients hit 6-figures or 7-figures?  I already knew that the skills and strategies that get you to 100k are not going to get you to 250k, but when you are not promoting group programs, courses, or having the leverage and scale convo, what else is there?  Well, this is where we are going in today's super exciting conversation.  I am so rarely speechless, but it literally happened in this interview because of all I learned from Laura and can't wait to share with you. Laura pulls back the curtain on:Why 88% of consultants top off at $113k, and what she does differently The majority of consultants experience feast or famine cycles in businessWhy most marketing is bullshit and what she teaches her clients insteadHow she manages to work a lot fewer hours than her less well-paid peersA different way to look at scaling your consulting business The flat tire analogy that puts it all in perspective Mic Drop Moment:  “The secret to earning $250K as a consultant is not a secret.  You need to become highly referable.” Laura Khalil If you'd like to connect with Laura Khalil, here are a few ways to do so:Elevate mastermind: https://bravebydesign.mykajabi.com/elevateWebsite: https://www.bravebydesign.net/Podcast: https://apple.co/3Ots7F7Linked In: https://www.linkedin.com/in/laurakhalil/Also mentioned in this episode:  “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz Is there a gap between where you are and where you want to be?  Do you know why?  Take the quiz and get your personalized result, and what to do about it! What's Holding You Back?https://bit.ly/obstaclesquizThinking about working with Diann? If you need the focused attention on your business & life that is only available through 1:1 coaching, click here to schedule a free 30-minute consultation with Diann to see if her 12-week private coaching program is right for you. Free Consultation for 1:1 Coaching Want to add yourself to the waitlist for our next round of coaching groups?  There is no obligation, but if you want to get more information, you need to be on the list, so click here: Group Coaching Waitlist The Driven Woman Facebook Group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/thedrivenwoman/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachdiannwingert/ Before you bounce, don't forget to leave a review of The Driven Woman Podcast, I'd love to read it on a future episode!    Apple: https://apple.co/2BZDFzcAndroid: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-driven-woman-1194485

Kathi Burns definitely found her calling as a professional organizer. She has been helping others eliminate clutter for over 17 years, has written an entire book on the subject, hosts a weekly podcast called Organized and Energized, and is even more enthusiastic about eliminating clutter to create more freedom than she was when she started.  Once I learned that Kathi had been a travel writer who literally lived out of a suitcase and that she has also lived on a boat, I knew she was a bona fide expert in doing more with less.  This conversation was both informative and fun, because I know quite a bit about productivity, but learned so much from Kathi about the benefits of tackling our problems with paper.  Addressing our paper piles is an easy way to create more order in our environment and eliminating them frees up both space and energy, reduces distractions, and increases clarity. We all have better things to do than spend an average of 3 hours a week searching for things, which is one of the eye-opening facts Kathi shared in this lively conversation.  After implementing her Get It Gone system, Kathi promises her clients that they can find anything they need in 30 seconds. How's that for a value proposition?  So, if you're ready to listen and learn from this self-proclaimed Paper Wrangler, and go from piling to filing, let's jump right in! What you'll learn: Kathi's 5 category paper organization systemThe 3 main saboteurs of being organizedLetting go is a muscle that needs regular exerciseLess stuff = more clarity + fewer distractionsMic Drop Moment:  “Paper weighs more than anything else, both physically and psychologically.” Kathi Burns, CPO If you'd like to connect with Kathi Burns, CPO Webinar: www.getitgoneformula.com/webinarBook: https://amzn.to/3v4svSMPodcast: https://apple.co/3Ey7gfwInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/organizedenergized/Is there a gap between where you are and where you want to be?  Do you know why?  Take the quiz and get your personalized result, and what to do about it! What's Holding You Back?https://bit.ly/obstaclesquizThinking about working with Diann? If you need the focused attention on your business & life that is only available through 1:1 coaching, click here to schedule a free 30-minute consultation with Diann to see if her 12-week private coaching program is right for you. Free Consultation for 1:1 Coaching Want to add yourself to the waitlist for our next round of coaching groups?  There is no obligation, but if you want to get more information, you need to be on the list, so click here: Group Coaching Waitlist The Driven Woman Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thedrivenwoman/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachdiannwingert/ Before you bounce, don't forget to leave a review of The Driven Woman Podcast, I'd love to read it on a future episode!    Apple: https://apple.co/2BZDFzcAndroid: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-driven-woman-119448

In this episode, I'm speaking with Diann Wingert, psychotherapist turned business mindset coach and the host of the Driven Woman Podcast. This combination of factors likely contributed to her later sense of entitlement and her willingness to take whatever she felt she deserved – even if it meant breaking the law. Tune in as Diann Wingert explains where Anna's personality pathology starts to develop, personality of entrepreneurs vs signs of narcissism, and the real reason audiences like stories where humans are missing morals. Later in the episode, we hear a fictional story written by Parker James. Shifting Weight - A Fictional Story in Print  HXGO - New Delhi Song    IN THIS EPISODE: [03:42] Anna Sorokin's personality and what was really the driving force behind her? [10:23] Creative people need to go where creative things are happening. For Anna, that was Paris. [14:00] Diann Wingert explains Anna's personality pathology starts to develop in New York [18:40] Someone called Anna a sociopath and she considered it a compliment.  [24:00] Why do we like stories where humans are missing morals? [31:55] Diann talks about age and maturity [34:40] The common ambition shaming of women  [38:18] FICTION: Shifting Weight written by Parker James [40:34] Justin James sauntered into the house [41:50] I need you to wire me $2,000, please   KEY TAKEAWAYS: Celebrities who came from humble beginnings knew that their hometown was not where they belonged Most people will continue to live a lifestyle and have very close expectations to what they grew up  The flaw in her psychological makeup is that she didn't have empathy for the people that she was taking advantage of  People are drawn to flawed characters because every one of us has the potential to be arrogant, manipulative, to be an opportunist, to be dishonest. Although we like to watch them fall so we can be reminded that we in fact are not, reassuring us of our own morality Diann Wingert talks about age and maturity. Does it come as a result of being incarcerated or as she aged and matured  We admire, applaud, support, and encourage ambition in males. But girls are supposed to be modest. We are supposed to accept what is offered to women. But men do. So why is this?   BIO: Diann Wingert is a psychotherapist turned business mindset coach who serves the growing number of female solopreneurs who struggle with self-employment after successful corporate or nonprofit careers by helping them identify and eliminate the obstacles that hold them back so they can embrace their full potential for success. In this fascinating interview,  my guest Amira Alvarez, CEO of The Unstoppable Woman, speaker, podcaster, and leadership coach and I get real about some of the topics so many women steer clear of.  We don't shy away from the tough stuff here on The Driven Woman Podcast, so Amira and I do a deep dive into the shadow side of being driven and ambitious. The shadow side is what ruins our health, our relationships, and often, the business we are trying so damn hard to grow and scale. Amira speaks in a clear and unapologetic way on the painful truths about striving for success and how we can unknowingly prevent ourselves from actually achieving it. It has been said that becoming an entrepreneur is the ultimate personal growth experience and I can't agree more.  In this fast-paced convo,  Amira shares some of her wake up calls and rude awakenings: The hamster wheel of drive and ambition = never enoughWhen she realized she was addicted to the struggle “I didn't die by doing it differently”If you have ever asked yourself what you are doing wrong, why you aren't making bank, when you are going to reach the entrepreneurial promised land, this convo will be one of your favorites on this podcast.   Women of influence and that includes those of us who podcast need to be more honest about the not-so-glamorous side of entrepreneurship and that is why I am proud to share this revealing conversation with you. This Episode's Mic Drop Moment:“Getting sick was my stopping strategy” (Amira Alvarez) If you'd like to connect with Amira after listening to this interview, Website: https://theunstoppablewoman.com/Podcast: https://theunstoppablewoman.com/listen/Links: https://linktr.ee/theunstoppablewomanIG: https://www.instagram.com/theunstoppablewoman/Mentioned in this episode:  TAKE THE QUIZ:What's Holding You Back?https://bit.ly/obstaclesquizThinking about working with Diann? If you need the focused attention on your business & life that is only available through 1:1 coaching, click here to schedule a free 30-minute consultation with Diann to see if her 12-week private coaching program is right for you. Free Consultation for 1:1 Coaching The Driven Woman Facebook Group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/thedrivenwoman/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachdiannwingert/ Before you bounce, don't forget to leave a review of The Driven Woman Podcast, I'd love to read it on a future episode!    Apple: https://apple.co/2BZDFzcAndroid: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-driven-woman-1194485

If you haven't heard my cringe-worthy story of how I spent two years thinking about starting this podcast before I finally pulled the trigger, you can go listen to my One Year Podversary episode to hear all the embarrassing details.  During that two-year period of overthinking and creative procrastination, I even flew from LA to Orlando to attend the Podcast Movement Conference, thinking that would inspire me to get off the fence.  It did not, but it did help me take the first step to connect with today's guest, Heather Vickery. Heather is a leadership and success coach, speaker, workshop facilitator, podcaster, and author.  I found a card promoting Heather's podcast, The Brave Files while at that podcast conference in 2019.  I picked it up and saved it because I liked the message and branding.  Eventually, I met the fabulous Annie P. Ruggles, who was our guest on episode # 86, and she introduced me to Heather.  The world of female podcasters is a fabulous network of generous and supportive people. Heather spoke at She Podcasts Live this year, so we got a chance to meet IRL before recording interviews for our respective podcasts and the timing of this one was just a few weeks after Heather published her best-selling book, F*ck Fearless: Making the Brave Leap.  We talk about the 5 step framework that Heather uses in her coaching programs and outlines in detail in the book, complete with exercises,  examples from clients she's worked with and people she's interviewed on her podcast The Brave Files, and plenty of stories from her own life experiences. In this fun convo, Heather Challenges me to join her in recording and posting a video a day for the month of December (we recorded the interview in November) Calls me out on my belief that as part of nature we are either in a phase of growth or a phase of decay Mic Drop Moment: “Fearless is for sociopaths and 3-year-olds.”Heather's framework (hint, it spells out the word B-R-A-V-E) If you'd like to connect with Heather Vickery after listening to this interview, here are a few options: Get the book:  https://vickeryandco.com/course/fck-fearless-making-the-brave-leap/Join her free Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/BraveOnPurpose/The Brave Files: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-brave-files/id1370255228Was it Chance?: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/was-it-chance/id1597327877 Are you ready to take things to the next level and work with Diann? If you need the focused attention on your business & life that is only available through 1:1 coaching, click here to schedule a free 30-minute consultation with Diann to see if her 12-week private coaching program is right for you. Free Consultation for 1:1 Coaching Before you bounce, don't forget to leave a review of The Driven Woman Podcast, I'd love to read it on a future episode!    Apple: https://apple.co/2BZDFzcAndroid: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-driven-woman-1194485

Many of us start out with one goal in mind when we become an entrepreneur- creating a business around something we are passionate about.  In fact “Follow your passion and build a business you love” is probably the most popular headline for a huge number of online business coaches nowadays.  It's a very seductive promise and a glamorous fantasy, but it is simply not enough to keep your business boat afloat. Now, don't get me wrong, passion is important, and maybe even necessary, especially in the beginning when you are scared shitless and have no clue, but unless you also keep your eye on the bottom line and balance your passion with profit, your business just might sink instead of sail.  That's why I invited my Portland pal and host of the Get the Balance Right Podcast, Heather Zeitzwolfe to chat with me today.  Heather is a certified public accountant, financial coach, and profit advisor who works with creative entrepreneurs and small agencies.  We both have a sweet spot for first-time female entrepreneurs in their 50s because of our own personal histories.  Her website lists her attributes as Rebel, Nerd, Activist, Entrepreneur, Goofball, Cult Film Afficianado, Vegan, and when I saw her name on the list of attendees for the She Podcasts Live conference I attended in October, I was determined to meet her. What you can look forward to hearing in this episode: Heather's non-traditional path to becoming a CPA in her 40s & starting her first business in her 50sWhy she works with creative solopreneurs and small agencies Our lively discussion on money blocks and why so many women have them How she makes it safe for her clients to be honest about their numbers, dispelling  money shame Connect with our amazing guest, Heather Zeitzwolfe! Free Workshop in January 2022 on Money Mindset: https://www.getthebalancerightpodcast.com/workshopGet Your Business Ready for Tax Time Group Coaching Program:https://www.getthebalancerightpodcast.com/taxtimegroupHeather's FREE Facebook Group for female entrepreneurs: https://www.facebook.com/groups/getthebalanceright/Website: https://www.zeitzwolfeaccounting.com/Podcast: https://www.zeitzwolfeaccounting.com/podcastAND here's how to connect with Diann: Are you ready to take things to the next level and work with Diann? If you need the focused attention on your business & life that is only available through 1:1 coaching, click here to schedule a free 30-minute consultation with Diann to see if her 12-week private coaching program is right for you. Free Consultation for 1:1 Coaching Before you bounce, don't forget to leave a review of The Driven Woman Podcast, so I can read it on a future episode!    Apple: https://apple.co/2BZDFzcAndroid: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-driven-woman-1194485

One of my favorite things about Client Success Story episodes is that I get to share some of my favorite people with you.  Today we are joined by my coaching client, Tanya, a project manager, wife, and mom who had already burned out once and was on the fast track to a second round.  When she first decided to work with me, after hearing me being interviewed on a podcast, Tanya was feeling overwhelmed, defeated, and had lost confidence in her ability to manage her responsibilities at work and at home.  Tanya made some really significant changes during our work together, including:Learned to say no, set limits and boundariesEmbraced radical self-acceptance, and let go of apology, guilt & shamePrioritized self-care & work/family balance More respect from both family & peersEliminated her need for anxiety medication She now refers to herself as Tanya 2.0! Mentioned during this interview:The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks, Ph.D. (book) Inside Out by Disney (movie) Trello (my project management system)Eisenhower Matrix  (one of the productivity tools I use and recommend) Do you want your own copy of the Powerful Questions that Tanya and I talked about being such a game changer?  Click here to download:  Powerful Questions worksheet Connect with Diann Online: The Driven Woman Facebook Group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/thedrivenwoman/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachdiannwingert/ Are you ready to take things to the next level and work with Diann? We have all heard the stories of the woman who gave her boss the finger, strode out of her job in her high heels and launched a 6-figure online business overnight, but this is not only a fairy tale, but how many of us could go for who-knows-how-long without a paycheck as a first time entrepreneur? Nearly everyone declares happiness as a life goal, and takes whatever actions they think will lead to a happy outcome.  We buy things, start relationships, go places and seek out experiences because of how we think they will make us feel, hopefully happy.  This pursuit of happiness can turn out well, but it's just as likely to lead to a mountain of debt and massive disappointment.  Until we realize that happiness is not something we could earn, acquire or attract, the search for happiness can continue for years, if not decades. Today's guest, Laura DiBenedetto, was a shooting star - an entrepreneur at 19, retired at 37, having overcome a backstory of bullying, burnout, bankruptcy.  Laura is an example of so many women I have met who are fueled both by their own innate drive, but also by the effects of trauma.  More often than not,  the harder they strive for happiness, the more it evades them, even if the world sees them as highly accomplished and successful. Laura is now the bestselling author of the book, The Six Habits, a Happiness Coach, TedX speaker.  Like me, she has learned many of life's lessons the hard way and now helps others get to their happy ending with a lot less stress.  If you are an entrepreneur who is driven to overcome a difficult past,  you are going to want to lean in and listen closely.  I found Laura's journey to be an inspiring one and I am happy to share her with you today. Want to know more about today's guest, Laura DiBennedetto?Website: https://lauradibenedetto.com/TedX Talk: https://lauradibenedetto.com/tedx-talk/Book: https://www.thesixhabits.com/Course: https://www.thesixhabits.com/90-day-habit-masteryConnect with Diann Online: The Driven Woman Facebook Group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/thedrivenwoman/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachdiannwingert/ Are you ready to take things to the next level and work With Diann? Are you ready to invest in making 2021 the year you get back into momentum & move the needle?  Click here to schedule a free 30-minute consultation with Diann to see if her signature 12-week private coaching program is right for you.  https://calendly.com/diannwingert/free-consultationDon't forget to leave a review of The Driven Woman Podcast, so I can read it on a future episode!    Apple: https://apple.co/2BZDFzcAndroid: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-driven-woman-1194485Want to help me know exactly what content to feature?Click here to take this poll  “What's Holding You Back?”  I'm working on a brand new series on mindset blocks.  Tell me yours so I can create the perfect episodes for you! https://www.tryinteract.com/share/poll/5f9d78cb138d6c0014b069a1/

This week we are going to continue with the theme of upper limit issues, which refers to the unconscious habits we have that keep us from experiencing all the health, happiness, and success we are consciously striving for.  Two weeks ago, we talked about how to identify these upper limit issues- what they are, what purpose they serve and how they got into our unconscious minds to begin with.  In this episode, we are going to discuss the categories of behavior that let us know when we are “upper-limiting” ourselves. The good news is that there really aren't that many of them and once you see them for what they are, you won't be able to ignore them again. If you are a driven woman who is working hard, doing all the things, but just can't seem to reach her goals on a consistent basis, you are already aware that something is getting in your way and suspect you are holding yourself back somehow. If you want to play a bigger game, make more money and have a bigger impact, you are going to love this episode. Just to give you a sneak peek, so you are gonna want to listen all the way to the end, here are the categories of upper limit behaviors to watch out for:WorryBlame & CriticismDeflectionArguments Illness If you have been listening to The DrIven Woman Podcast for more than an episode or two, you already know that I am very direct and pretty outspoken.  One of my favorite clients calls me “The Speaker of Uncomfortable Truths” and I think that's pretty accurate.  You might feel a bit called out in this episode, but it's because I seriously want you to have an amazing business and life and I know you aren't going to have them if you are upper-limiting yourself.    If you are working your ass off to achieve your goals but something always seems to get in the way, it just might be your upper limits.  Freebie AlertNow that you have Identified your upper limits, you are ready to start breaking through them. Today's guest, Tricia Dempsey always knew she was driven and ambitious, but she got a lot of messages about what girls can't do growing up that lead her to make choices that felt like a too-tight pair of shoes.  Dad said OK to playing basketball, but when Tricia wanted to go into sales and got a hard NO, she chose the socially sanctioned path of teaching, which she did until she just couldn't face a room of middle schoolers anymore.  Tricia left teaching for the business world but eventually discovered she was building someone else's dream (while doing most of the work and generating most of the revenue.)  A cancer diagnosis was the wake up call she needed and Tricia started her business without waiting to finish treatment. Today, Tricia is the CEO of Thrive-Her, a vibrant online business, empowering other women to start their own businesses through coaching, content and community.  She works with women who have experience and skill, want to start their own business but just don't know what their next step is or how to take it.  She's the kind of woman who makes people feel at home with her immediately. We compared our Strengths Finder Top 5, talked about climbing the wrong ladder,  being an Amazon Woman - we are both super tall (I'm 5'10 and she's 6 feet), and of course being a Driven Woman.   Before I share our inspiring conversation, I'd like to share this week's Pod Praise, which comes from fellow life coach Audrey Lollis who writes: “Thank you Diann for being so authentic on this podcast! Dealing with Expectations

When I first started coaching female entrepreneurs,  we focused a lot on productivity and time management, because my clients wanted to get more done.  So, I taught them the latest techniques to identify their most important goals and to accomplish them more efficiently.  Over time, our coaching conversations had shifted to energy management - when to do our creative work and when to do the tasks that require more focused effort. But, they were still overwhelmed and exhausted. The more I dug into their biz shizz,  the more I realized what they needed most - obligation management. What am I talking about?  How we deal with expectations - our own and other people's.  What I uncovered is that a whole lot of really smart, badass female entrepreneurs have shitty business boundaries, are over-delivering and undercharging, and avoiding uncomfortable conversations with both their clients and their team.  So, this is the topic of this week's solo episode, dealing with expectations.  Because if you are doing more than you should be out of feelings of guilt and obligation,  you are going to keep on draining your energy and not getting things done.  So, sit tight and keep your seat belt buckled, while I share this week's pod praise, from Jessica Foley (a member of our Facebook group) who writes:  “I've been meaning to write a review since I heard about this podcast and listened to my first episode. If you are a regular listener of The Driven Woman Podcast, you are probably a perfectionist. The Driven Woman is ambitious,  hard working,  strives for excellence and wants to be the best at everything she does, there just doesn't seem to be enough hours to the day to get it all done, to her satisfaction.  That's why we are talking about perfectionism again this week.  If you want to go back to Episode #12, The Cure for Perfectionism,  you can get a double dose of pure-DW straight talk on the subject.  The truth of the matter is that no one is perfect and if we apply our impossibly high standards to everything we do, we will be tweaking our web copy while a competitor beats us to market.  Perfection is costly and the harsh reality is that most of the times, the things we are obsessing over don't even matter all that much. Our Pod Praise (podcast review) this week comes from CresnahF (a member of our Facebook group) who writes:  “I've checked if there is a podcast about intimidating women, (as people thought I am), and you're the first recommendation provided by Apple Podcast. I first met today's guest, April Adams Pertuis, in an online community for female entrepreneurs.  She was an award-winning journalist for many years, before deciding to take her skills online to reach as many people as possible. April believes every woman has a story to tell and it's her mission to teach them how.  There are so many fears to be identified and overcome, but there is so much power in our stories and when we share them, we inspire others to do the same.  If you struggle with fear of being seen,  rejection sensitivity,  imposter syndrome or the belief that your story doesn't matter,  pull up your chair and turn up the volume.  This one's for you! Here are the highlights of our conversation:The importance of women's storiesHow to get more women to share their storyHow to get “unstuck” in a storyHow to look for stories in our everyday lifeThis week's Pod Praise comes from Cher Kretz who writes: “As a woman who is driven, I am so glad I found this podcast. I can get powered up real fast and get out there, ready to make it happen! Thank you so much.” Thank you Cher for this thoughtful review. Cher is a counselor, coach and  the host of the Parenting 2.0 The Focused Mindset Podcast Don't forget to leave your own review of The Driven Woman Podcast, so I can read it on a future episode!    Apple: https://apple.co/2BZDFzcAndroid: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-driven-woman-1194485Are you ready to take things to the next level and work With Diann? Are you ready to invest in making 2021 the year you get back into momentum & move the needle?  Click here to schedule a free 30-minute consultation with Diann to see if her signature 12-week private coaching program is right for you.  Create an ADHD-friendly business and life!https://calendly.com/diannwingert/free-consultationConnect with Diann Online: The Driven Woman Facebook Group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/thedrivenwoman/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachdiannwingert/ LinkedIn:   https://www.linkedin.com/in/diannwingertcoaching/ Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/diannwingertcoaching/ Here's how you can connect with April Adams Pertuis, our fabulous guest: Website: https://www.lightbeamers.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lightbeamers/Podcast: https://www.lightbeamers.com/podcast/Mini course: https://www.lightbeamers.com/find-your-story/

It's time to celebrate, Driven Women! This week is our one year Podversary and I am so excited to announce that I have consistently produced this podcast every single week for an entire year.   In this solo episode, I take you back in time to my first interview as a podcast guest, through my journey of procrastination and perfectionism that delayed The Driven Woman for two years and what I finally figured out I needed to pull the trigger.  If you have a goal or project that you just can't seem to get off the ground, this one is for you.   Our Pod Praise (podcast review) this week comes from Biancakezz who writes: “Do you ever want to feel understood.  Like just understood and heard? Well, that's what Diann manages to do.  From her thoughtful guests, to her vulnerability and grit, these are great conversations that will light a fire under you to get out there and make it happen.  As a person with ADHD I cannot thank Diann enough for sharing her tips, tools and resources with her audience.”   Her podcast is Please Don't Kick Me Out and her IG handle is https://www.instagram.com/pleasedontkickmeout/Thank you, Bianca for this awesome review and for supporting the podcast! Remember,  if you leave a review for The Driven Woman Podcast, Diann will read it on a future episode.
