This week on Talk World Radio: Feroze Sidhwa is a trauma surgeon who volunteered for two weeks in March and April at the European Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza. He is one of 99 doctors who recently signed an open letter to President Biden and Vice President Harris that estimated Palestinian war deaths in Gaza at no less than 118,908. He is also the author of an October 9th article in the New York Times based on his surveying of 65 healthcare workers, documenting -- among much else -- that Israeli soldiers are regularly shooting children in the head and chest. The New York Times article discussed: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/10/09/opinion/gaza-doctor-interviews.html The letter discussed: https://www.gazahealthcareletters.org/usa-letter-oct-2-2024
For Dr. Feroze Sidhwa, who has seen up close, and treated the murdered, dying and maimed children of Gaza, the September 10, 2024 U.S. presidential debate was just a bunch of talking loud and saying nothing. And the Uhuru 3 is found not guilty of the most serious charge, of being foreign agents for Russia. But they are found guilty of lesser charges that they say are based on First Amendment protected political speech. Plus headlines on debate protests, new Gaza massacres, Md. Supreme Court grants partial victory to African burial ground, Apache Stronghold holds vigil at Supreme Court for Oak Flat sacred site, ABC Australia breaks corporate media blockade about what really happened in Occupied Palestine on October 7, 2023, Miami Dolphins star wide receiver wants to use his platform to educate about police brutality. On this edition of CrowdScience, Marnie Chesterton brings you a kaleidoscope of colourful questions from listeners around the world, from Kampala to Chicago. Shireen asks why people have a favourite colour and whether other animals show colour preferences too. Marnie heads to the zoo to see what the birds, bees and butterflies think. There, she meets a colour-changing chameleon to find out how and why it does because of a question from Dramadri in Uganda. Meanwhile, Paul in Melbourne is interested to know more about colour blindness. And finally, Feroze asks why we only see a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum and wants to know if we might, one day, hack our vision to see beyond the seven colours of the rainbow.
