Eppure basta scorrere la cronaca di questi mesi per inciampare nella domanda che spezza la retorica: anche quelli uccisi a Gaza rientrano nella memoria istituzionale della premier Meloni? Dal 7 ottobre 2023, secondo i dati del Comitato per la protezione dei giornalisti (CPJ), almeno 238 giornalisti palestinesi sono stati uccisi sotto i bombardamenti israeliani mentre documentavano, fotografavano, testimoniavano. La strage silenziosa che accompagna il genocidio non trova spazio nei comunicati ufficiali del governo. Eppure erano giornalisti, esattamente come quelli celebrati dalla nuova legge italiana. Stavano facendo il loro lavoro. Esattamente come quelli di cui si onora il coraggio. Il dubbio non è retorico, è politico. Dopo il risveglio tardivo di Palazzo Chigi davanti alle bombe sulle chiese cristiane, ci si chiede se davvero ci sarà anche un secondo scatto di coscienza. Sarebbe un miracolo, di questi tempi. Riconoscere il sacrificio dei reporter palestinesi significherebbe smentire l'alleato Netanyahu, rompere la linea dell'equidistanza pavida, spezzare il silenzio complice. Ma la memoria, si sa, è un muscolo politico selettivo. Funziona bene quando non disturba i rapporti internazionali, meno quando nomina i carnefici. Così il governo che celebra i giornalisti uccisi, dovrebbe includere quelli fatti a pezzi dai suoi alleati.
