Bible Reading: Matthew 5:44-46Roman stomped into the house and headed for the stairs, not even bothering to say hello to his family. "Hey there, Roman!" Dad called from his place at the counter. Roman mumbled something and then proceeded upstairs and slammed his bedroom door. The house shook. Eva, his sister, entered the house a moment later. Mom finished chopping a potato and gave her a hug. "What's wrong with Roman?" Mom asked. Eva opened the fridge and dug out an apple. "Well, this kid named Carson Peters keeps bullying and teasing him," she replied. "Especially on the walk home from school." Later that evening, Roman was asked to help make his mom's famous homemade applesauce. As he chopped apples, he remembered some of the things Carson had said to him on the way home from school. Infuriated, Roman slammed the knife into the apple. The apple squished and splattered all over him and the counter."Oh dear. I suppose that was a rotten apple. I should be more careful when I pick out the bags at the market," Mom said, wiping the gunk off Roman and the surrounding area. "Why did you slam the knife so hard?" she asked. "You could've hurt yourself." "Well, I--I was just thinking about what this guy Carson said to me earlier. He says a lot of mean things." "I think how you're dealing with this is a bit like that rotten apple," Mom said as she mashed up the good apples. "You've been holding all this inside. Allowing angry, bitter feelings like that to stay in your heart can make you rot inside. Eventually, they would've overflowed--or in your case, exploded." Roman sprinkled some cinnamon into the apple mixture. "I guess I thought I could deal with it on my own." "Sometimes the only way to deal with something--or someone--is to ask for help," said Mom. "Jesus loves you so much that He died to save you, and He wants you to go to Him with your problems and hard feelings. He also puts people in your life to help you--like your dad and me. Let us help with the situation, and trust God to help you release those feelings and replace them with His love and peace." –Taylor Carey How About You?Has someone ever been mean to you? Sometimes it's easier to bottle up hard feelings instead of dealing with them. But God wants us to cast our hardships onto Him, and He gives us people to support us. Don't be afraid to ask for help with bullies or other difficult situations and tell a trusted adult how you're feeling. Trust Jesus to comfort you and give you the power to love those who hurt you the way He loves us. Today's Key Verse:Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (NLT) (1 Peter 5:7)Today's Key Thought:Share your hurts with others

Idea: A semi-satirical DNA-analyzing and family tree investigation service that only tells you negative aspects of your family tree, such as ancestors who did evil things, parents who aren't actually your biological parents, and inherited diseases that will probably kill you. Also: it could "unite everyone in hating where we come from"; maybe everyone should be forced to use this service in order to "air out everyone's dirty laundry" all at once; it might backfire if teenage boys find it "metal" and exciting to be related to a historical villain; this service could also solve historical crimes "for evil reasons" i.e. to bum out the murderer's descendants Pam Palmieri (facebook.com/pam.palmieri instagram.com/pampalmiericomedy Comedy Shows: facebook.com/profile.php?id=61561507017993) Alex Wilson (facebook.com/mralexwilson youtube.com/@thedropoutprofessor https://the-dropout-professor.medium.com) Bryan Deuchler (facebook.com/profile.php?id=100084687192997 https://cartoontonic.buzzsprout.com) Tom Walma (https://creativitywasted.com twitter.com/thomaswalma twitch.tv/gameymcfitness) This podcast is part of Planet Ant Podcasts (https://planetant.com) This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

"I could watch a 24 hour live stream of the shit that Cathy and Vivi talk about," remarks Christi as Season 3's "No Room for Rotten Apples" is another Cathy-centric episode. It's not the most eventful of affairs as the producers even included an inordinate amount of dance footage this week to compensate, but what is there is... deeply weird. For example: Cathy puts Vivi in charge of cataloguing her entire collection of ceramic bunnies. Why? Who knows!Cathy introduces The Apple Tree, her Cathy-themed replacement for Pyramid, and Jalen and Mari are squarely at the bottom. If they don't shape up during this week's competition in Columbus, Cathy is threatening to remove one of them from the team. Why does she need to cut anyone though? She has an ideal seven kids to match Abby, is this a production developed conflict? To make the conflict extra needless, Cathy insists that Jalen perform his first contemporary and triple pirouette, something Jalen isn't remotely ready to pull off. The undue extra attention on Jalen's teaching starts to upset Mari's mother, who is worried her daughter will be comparatively unprepared for her solo. It's up to Anthony to prep them both, but the best he can do is give Mari a literal panic attack!Meanwhile Abby continues filming for Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition, bringing Maddie out to LA to perform a solo. But where is the rest of the ALDC? Tune-in to find out how Maddie really ended up solo.Quotes“Paige heard [the crew] talking about Menage a Trois' and Paige was like ‘Oh my mom loves that.'” She meant the wine, they meant something else." (6:05-6:15 | Kelly)“On her podcast, Abby said something nice about Kelly and I. Now guys, there was a freaking solar eclipse this week, so clearly everything is out of alignment.” (18:20-18:30 | Christi)“[Anthony] says that she hired him because of his resume so she needs to let him work. I'm pretty sure that she didn't hire him. Well he's related to Jimmy Chriss. WHAT?! I did not know that. How do you know that? Because I hate the guy.” (51:46-52:07 | Christi & Kelly)“Poop turds?! I'm like who's poop turds?! And then she's always on us about being classless and I'm like you just said the word poop turds on national television, and now I've said poop turds on our podcast 87 times. ” (1:07:08-1:07:21 | Christi)LinksSubscribe to us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC50aSBAYXH_9yU2YkKyXZ0w Subscribe to our Patreon: www.patreon.com/backtothebarreThank you to Ashley Jana for allowing us to use Electricity!! Can you pick out the bad apple? There are lots of retirement vehicles aimed at credit union c-suite executives but the fact is they aren't created equal. Some simply are better than others.Back on the show today is Kirk Kordeleski, onetime CEO at Bethpage Federal Credit Union and now a leading expert on credit union SERPs (supplemental executive retirement plan), and he offers tips on what to look for in a steady SERP…and keep in mind it has to hold up usually for several decades after an executive retires.Along the way Kordeleski tells what credit union board members need to know and do to properly review and select SERPs for their executives. And we also talk about how credit unions can compete against - and beat! - money center banks. Sure, they have the scale but credit unions have an edge they can use to win this David v Goliath battle. Kordeleski relates how he did it at Bethpage.

As investors settled into the new rhythms of 2024, the latest episode of The Capitalist Investor saw co-hosts Tony and Luke (with Derek regrettably out sick) tackle topics that are top of mind for those looking to navigate the market's shifting tides. 1. Apple's Downgrade and Market SaturationA significant talking point was the recent downgrade of Apple's stock by Barclays. Despite Apple's revenue growth in previous years, the hosts questioned the broader impact of the downgrade. Pointing to market saturation and a lag in innovation, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence, they compared Apple's current trajectory to IBM's historical shift from growth to a defensive stance.2. The Future of Big Tech in a Potential RecessionThe uncertainty of a looming recession had the hosts contemplating the fate of tech giants, especially considering last year's challenges faced by Google and Amazon that affected their stock performance. The conversation turned to the growth engines driving these companies, with special attention to the burgeoning sector of cloud computing and storage and the strategic importance of AI solutions.3. Tesla's Valuation and Industry ChallengesTesla, a key player and popular discussion point in many investment circles, was another hot topic. The hosts discussed Tesla's potential vulnerabilities, focusing on the competitive landscape of electric vehicle deployment and questioning if the company's current valuation may be too optimistic in face of these challenges.4. Investment Strategies and the Role of the Federal ReserveThere's been much scrutiny regarding the Federal Reserve's actions, and Tony and Luke touched upon the potential influence of Fed decisions on the market outlook. With the market exhibiting capricious behaviors, the co-hosts contemplated the necessity of active management and discussed various strategies, including the dividend aristocrat index, when considering portfolio construction to hedge against volatility.5. Individual Stock Performance and PredictionsIn a more personalized segment, the hosts shared their thoughts on individual stocks within their portfolios. Tony brought up Visa and Match.com, considering the implications of a recession on sectors like credit and dating. Luke discussed Accenture and Raytheon's prospects, as well as a smaller but intriguing stock named Verify Me. While these stocks reflect different industries, the underlying theme was clear: the need for strategic investment choices in uncertain times.Remember to like, share, and subscribe for more weekly content from your go-to capitalist comrades, Tony and Luke. When asked about their branding style, I often hear business owners say they "want to look like Apple." They admire the clean, sleek design. They imagine their brand will seem modern, authentic, high-tech, hip, cool and smart if they incorporate some of the same style elements into their brand. But it is usually a bad idea. Don't get me wrong, I love Apple's branding for Apple. It just rarely works out for other brands. Why? Business owners won't walk the talk. Apple styling requires lots of white space in your design. The clean, minimal effect is created by using color sparingly and keeping fonts to one or two styles. The Apple brand is stark, and most business owners can't resist the urge to clutter the designs. When faced with their brand in Apple style, they ask for more text, maybe a cute piece of clip art or a stock photo. The result is visually confusing. Not every brand should look like Apple. It's okay if you don't look like Apple. One of the cool things about the world of branding is the diversity of different brand personalities. If you are a friendly, low-tech brand, Apple styling isn't right for you. There isn't anything warm or welcoming about the Apple brand. The hip, cool, and somewhat aloof styling is aspirational and isn't for everyone. A good example of rotten Apple branding is J..C Penney. For more than 100 years, middle-aged middle Americans turned to J.C. Penney for clothes, appliances and home goods. The brand offered durable, good quality items at a reasonable price. When they tried re-branding and transforming their stores into showcases with a light, airy, upscale feel it felt wrong. The stores were lovely, but empty and their core customers didn't feel welcome. The new target audience never believed the branding shift and didn't come. Trying to use Apple styling when it really isn't you is like trying to wear someone else's shoes. They may look good, but they will never feel exactly right. Instead of trying to be an Apple clone, figure out the core values of your brand and with a designer who can bring that brand to life.

READ TRANSCRIPT AT WWW.PETERNAVARRO.SUBSTACK.COM PRESERVE YOUR WEALTH, PROTECT YOUR JOB As loyal readers know, for the last month, I've seen risk more to the downside than up in the stock market based on the ongoing battle between two opposing forces: On the faux bullish side, we have a profligate, Biden-induced Keynesian over-stimulus driving artificial growth in the US economy while hurtling us towards a fiscal cliff. On the real bearish side, we have a Biden-induced bearish inflation driving up interest and mortgage rates and choking off both capital investment and activity in interest-sensitive sectors like housing. To understand these two opposing forces is to understand it is only a matter of time before the bears maul the bulls.
