Arizona Sonoran Copper – Derisking Work Building Towards A PFS On The Cactus Project, Update On Exploration, Envisioned Mine Plan, Permitting, And Strategic Stakeholders

George Ogilvie, President and CEO of Arizona Sonoran Copper (TSX:ASCU – OTCQX:ASCUF), joins us to outline all the ongoing derisking work building towards a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) on the Cactus Project in Arizona, as the next key company milestone. The overall Cactus Project now contains over 11 billion pounds (“lbs”)  of copper in all categories – 7.3 billion lbs of copper in measured and indicated, and 3.8 billion lbs in the inferred category.   We start off having George share how the incorporation of the MainSpring area into the larger Parks-Salyer deposit, has allowed for a shift from underground mining over to an open-pit mining method.  They are reviewing moving the center of the open pit more towards the high-grade portion of the  Park-Salyer deposit, and infill drilling is showing it expanding towards that direction, which should present better economics and a faster payback period in the upcoming PFS.   We discuss that there was no royalty on the Mainspring property area, and that in January the Company has bought back 1% of the of the Bronco Creek Exploration net smelter royalty (“NSR”) for a cash payment of US$500,000, reducing the NSR from 1.5% to a remaining 0.5% NSR near the high-grade area of the Parks-Salyer deposit.  This gives investors more upside to the project at present, but also presents an area that can be renegotiated with companies when assembling the capital stack down the road. In February a subsidiary of Royal Gold Inc. (RLGD:NASDAQ) has purchased an existing 2.5% NSR on a portion of the Cactus Project for cash consideration of US$55 million from Tembo Capital. ASCU has the right to buy back 0.5% of Royal Gold's aggregate 2.5% NSR for US$7 million, by July 10, 2025.  This demonstrates the value that Royal Gold sees in the project.   Additionally, on January 31st Arizona Sonoran announced that it closed its private placement with Hudbay Minerals Inc. of 11,955,270 common shares at a price of C$1.68 for gross proceeds to the Company of C$20,084,853 million. Additionally, Nuton LLC, a Rio Tinto Venture, exercised its pre-emptive rights in respect of the Hudbay Placement, pursuant to the terms of its investor rights agreement, to maintain its 7.2% equity interest in the Company for gross proceeds of C$1,562,210.   Seeing strategic shareholders like Royal Gold, Hudbay Minerals, and Rio Tinto involved demonstrates a strong vetting process and validation of the importance of the Cactus Project.   The Cactus PEA released last year envisages an average 86k short ton (172 million pound) per annum open pit copper heap leaching operation over a 31-year mine life (“LOM”). In total, 5.3 billion lbs or 2.7 million short tons of LME Grade A copper cathodes is detailed for production directly onsite via solvent extraction and electrowinning hydrometallurgical processing. We discuss how the plan to produce high-purity copper cathodes domestically, presents distinct advantages in light of the new US copper tariffs.  There will be more challenging effects on other companies that need to send copper concentrates over to Asian smelters and then will be subject to those tariffs.   George outlines how 40,000 meters of drilling will mainly be infilling areas in the MainSpring property from inferred to measured and indicated, as well as further defining and expanding the resources at the Park-Salyer main area.  There is also more metallurgical work to prepare for incorporating these areas into the upcoming PFS, projected to come out in the Fall of 2025.   The company is also looking at acquiring more adjacent private land that will assist with optimizing the site layout for development. George highlights the strength of the infrastructure in place, the access to power, and the   George also provides some updates on permitting for the project, and the importance of it being on private land to help expedite the process, and that they should be submitting their applications later this year for administrative acceptance by early 2026, and then approval 6 months later.  This will time out well with their Bankable Feasibility Study and the capital stack coming together for a construction decision late next year.   If you have any follow up questions for George about Arizona Sonoran, then please email us at Fleck@kereport.com or  Shad@kereport.com and we'll get those reviewed by the company.   In full disclosure, Shad has a position in Arizona Sonoran Copper at the time of this recording and may chose to buy or sell shares at any time.    Click here to visit the Arizona Sonoran website to read over all the recent news.

George Ogilvie, President and CEO of Arizona Sonoran Copper (TSX:ASCU – OTCQX:ASCUF), joins me to outline the updated Standalone Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) on the Cactus Project in Arizona, that now incorporates MainSpring, Parks-Salyer, and Cactus West & East into a larger comprehensive project. The overall Cactus Project now contains over 11 billion pounds (“lbs”)  of copper in all categories – 7.3 billion lbs of copper in measured and indicated, and 3.8 billion lbs in the inferred category.   The Cactus PEA envisages an average 86k short ton (172 million pound) per annum open pit copper heap leaching operation over a 31-year mine life (“LOM”). In total, 5.3 billion lbs or 2.7 million short tons of LME Grade A Copper Cathodes is detailed for production directly onsite via solvent extraction and electrowinning hydrometallurgical processing. The PEA supersedes the previously released Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) in all respects, as it has now shifted from an underground mining method to an open-pit mine design.    Highlights from the PEA:   Key Performance Indicators at $3.90/lb Copper $2,032 million Net Present Value (“NPV”) (8% discount, after-tax) 24% Internal rate of return (“IRR”, after-tax) 4.9 years Payback Period $668 million development capital including contingency Life of Mine (“LOM”) Gross Revenue of $20.8 billion LOM Free Cash Flow (“FCF”) of $7,295 million (unlevered) Cash costs (C1) of $1.82 and All in Sustaining Costs (“AISC”) of $2.00 per pound of copper Financial and operational executability now through transition to Open Pit operation 94% material from open pit mining (Cactus West and Parks/Salyer), 6% from the Stockpile and Cactus East underground 232 million pounds (“lbs”) (116,052 short tons (“st”)) average annual copper cathode production over the first 20 years of operation and a total of 5,339 million lbs (2,669,342 st) of copper cathode produced over the 31-year operating mine life   George outlines how the inclusion of the recently acquired and drilled out to inferred resource of the MainSpring Property, which had previously not been included in economic studies, not only brough in an additional 1.9 billion lbs of copper but was also amenable to open pit mining. This also allowed for Parks-Salyer to be transitioned into an open-pit scenario as well, bringing in an additional 1.5 billion lbs of copper into the resources, and allowed it all to be developed as an enlarged pit.  This confirms Parks/Salyer and MainSpring are now grouped together as one deposit, renamed to “Parks/Salyer.” This transition to open pit mining increases the efficiencies, improves costs, reduces capex, and takes away the need to put in the twin declines initially proposed.   There is a great deal of drilling at Mainspring being completed to move the resources from inferred to indicated, as well as more metallurgical work to prepare for incorporating all of that into a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS), projected to come out in the summer of 2025.   We also discuss some recent drill results returned from the sulphides as Cactus West, that show the resources are continuing to grow and will either add longevity to the existing planned 31-year mine life, or provide a potential larger producer with the option of increasing the throughput in a mining scenario. Wrapping up we discuss another layer of optionality to improve the process with the investment by Nuton LLC (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto) and subsequent option to Joint Venture (“JV”) the Cactus Project to Nuton LLC using their proprietary leaching recovery methods.   George also provides some updates on permitting for the project, and the importance of it being on private land to help expedite the process.   If you have any follow up questions for George about Arizona Sonoran, then please email me at Shad@kereport.com  and I'll get those forwarded along to the company.   In full disclosure, Shad has a position in Arizona Sonoran Copper at the time of this recording.   Click here to visit the Arizona Sonoran website to read over all the recent news.

George Ogilvie, President and CEO of Arizona Sonoran Copper (TSX:ASCU – OTCQX:ASCUF), joins me outline the updated resources at the Cactus Project in Arizona, that contains over 11 billion pounds (“lbs”)  of copper in all categories – 7.3 billion lbs of copper in measured and indicated, and 3.8 billion lbs in the inferred category.   We start off discussing the key metrics and takeaways from this updated resource estimate, and George outlines that it is because of all the drilling the company has done at the MainSpring Property, had not been included in this study yet, which brought in 1.9 billion lbs of copper.  Since Mainspring was amenable to open pit mining, this also allowed for Parks-Salyer to be transitioned into an open pit scenario as well, bringing in an additional 1.5 billion lbs of copper. Now that there is an enlarged pit, it confirms Parks/Salyer and MainSpring as one deposit, renamed to “Parks/Salyer.” This transition to open pit mining increases the efficiencies, improves costs, reduces capex, and takes away the need to put in the twin declines initially proposed.   There will be a Preliminary Economic Assessment coming out in the next few weeks that will wrap some economics and other mine development data around the combined project.  After that PEA, then all of the ongoing infill drilling at MainSpring and also deeper at Cactus West looking for more sulphide resources will all factor into a larger combined PFS for the whole Cactus Project, Parks Salyer, and Mainspring, both as a stand-alone project, and in concert with the Nuton leaching technology in 2025. George Ogilvie, President and CEO of Arizona Sonoran Copper (TSX:ASCU – OTCQX:ASCUF), joins me to recap the economic studies and development work completed to date and the work plan to come in 2024 and early 2025 at the Cactus Project in Arizona.   The Company put out a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) at the Cactus Project in February, that demonstrated an initial Life of Mine of 21 years, recovering 1,153 k tons or 2.31 billion pounds of Copper LME Grade A cathode onsite via heap leach facility and SXEW.  That gave the economics on the project a post-tax Net Present Value (“NPV”) of $509 million (CA$687 million) using an 8% discount rate and an internal rate of return (“IRR”) of 15.3% and using a $3.90/lb flat long-term copper price.  There would be total revenues of $9.0 billion over 21 years, and post-tax unlevered Free Cash Flow of $2.4 billion, with All-In Sustaining Cost (“AISC”) of $2.34/lb.   George mentioned that with sensitivities close to today's copper prices, if we assumed $4.50/lb. copper prices it jumps up to an NPB of $970 million and an IRR of 22%.   However, it should be noted that all the drilling the company has done at the MainSpring Property, has not been included in this study yet, and there will be a Preliminary Economic Assessment coming out in Q3 of this year.   That study will also review the optionality to improve the process with the investment by Nuton LLC (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto) and subsequent option to Joint Venture (“JV”) the Cactus Project to Nuton LLC using their proprietary leaching recovery methods.   After that PEA, then all of the ongoing infill drilling at MainSpring and also deeper at Cactus West looking for more sulphide resources will all factor into a larger combined PFS for the whole Cactus Project, Parks Salyer, and Mainspring, both as a stand-alone project, and in concert with the Nuton leaching technology.   We also discussed some optionality around developing MainSpring as an open pit providing operational flexibility and gaining lower cost access to the Parks/Salyer deposit, so that bringing MainSpring into the mine plan potentially improves operational and financial synergies within the Cactus Project.  This idea will be explored further in these upcoming economic studies, and as more definition and infill drilling is completed in the gap zone between the projects.

A recently completed Pre-Feasibility Study models a 21-year mine life producing 55,000 tonnes of copper cathode annually. This doubles the outdated 2019 Preliminary Economic Assessment's 28,000 tonne per year plan, reflecting resource expansion. The PFS generates robust economics at a $3.80/lb copper price, including a $665M NPV and 15.3% IRR with a 2.4 year payback. The $515M initial capex ranks at the low end globally, enhancing the project's advantage versus competing copper projects requiring intensive capital.Beyond the base case, Arizona Sonoran is testing a proprietary leaching technology (called "Newton") to boost the recovery of copper sulfides. This could significantly increase production at a fractional capital cost uplift. Initial tests suggest Newton could achieve 70-85% recovery from sulfide minerals versus nil in the base case.ASCU also has a partnership with Rio Tinto funding Newton's optimization. This provides $33M upfront to ASCU plus the option for Rio to earn a 40% project interest on favorable, non-dilutive terms. The structure drastically reduces ASCU's equity needs and facilitates debt financing. With analysts widely forecasting large copper deficits emerging within 2-3 years as electrification drives demand higher, ASCU is positioned to capitalize on the pending supply-demand imbalance. As copper prices rise, the project's strong fundamentals and leverage to higher prices make it an attractive copper investment.—View Arizona Sonoran's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/arizona-sonoranSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

The project includes multiple deposits with 7.4 billion pounds of copper resources. Approximately 5.2 billion pounds are amenable to heap leaching and solvent extraction electrowinning to produce copper cathode. Pre-feasibility study targeted for early 2024 is examining a 25+ year mine life producing 45,000-50,000 tons of copper cathode annually. There is potential to expand resources and production through exploration drilling between the known deposits. The company is working with new technology, Newton Column test, for enhanced leaching of primary sulfides which could further boost recoveries and mine life. With copper prices expected to remain strong long-term, Arizona Sonoran offers leverage to higher copper as the project advances towards a construction decision, targeting first production before the end of 2026.View Arizona Sonoran Copper's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/arizona-sonoranSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

While the first two Mad Max films had so much going for them, it sure seemed like a stumble with the third of the trilogy. But that's looking at it through today's eyes because some critics like Roger Ebert sure loved it — he put it on his '10 Best' list of 1985! Okay, so George Miller had lost his producing partner, Byron Kennedy, and let George Ogilvie co-direct it with him. Maybe that's why “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome” seems to be a bit of a stumble. Maybe it was the American financing that made it feel less gritty and more… Hollywood. Whatever it was, it's definitely the lesser of the three films. Join us — Pete Wright and Andy Nelson — as we go beyond Thunderdome with Mel Gibson and Tina Turner, continuing our Mad Max series with Miller's 1985 film. We talk about all of the problems it has, and how Andy still finds it a guilty pleasure while Pete downright hates it. We talk about the great concepts Miller and co-writer Terry Hayes had in putting this story together, but how poorly executed they were — every one of them. We chat about the joy of working with 400 pigs on set and what they had to do to make that work. We discuss the car chase — way too late in the movie for our tastes — and how it works in comparison with those we've seen come before. And we deliberate on where we think “Fury Road” will fit chronologically with these first three films. It's a very problematic film on which we find ourselves split, but it's a very fun film to talk about. Tune in!

Tune in!
