This week we are joined by Stephan Speaks- one of the most popular voices in the relationship education space. Stephan has devoted himself to a life of celibacy on more than one occasion: first run with the intention to connect with God, second to connect with his God-given purpose and now he finds himself conflicted between looking for the clarity that celibacy seemed to give him before and longing for the intimacy he desires as a healthy, single, eligible bachelor. ‘The next couple of years could get a little crazy and the outside noise is gonna get loud. And just know, the biggest thing that'll stop you from growing is listening and playing small and waiting for someone else to fix it. There's no one coming to save us. It's on us.‘ - Dean Graziosi My guest today is Dean Graziosi, a multiple New York Times best-selling author, entrepreneur, and educator. He has played a role in the growth and development of more than 14 major companies. He has worked behind the scenes with massive 8- and 9-figure companies helping them overhaul their processes, reinvent their marketing and sales strategies, and drive exponential growth, both in net profit and overall reach. Dean's mission for over 25 years has been to deliver self-education to those seeking transformation, fulfillment, and success outside the traditional education path. The methods Dean teaches have been tested and proven to work by countless students. He believes anyone can achieve success and create impact as long as they are willing to take uncomfortable action with the right tools and knowledge. He's determined to stand in the gap and provide the tools and knowledge people need. Dean's most well-known for his books on personal development, mindset, and entrepreneurship. His most popular titles include Millionaire Success Habits: The Gateway to Wealth & Prosperity, and The Underdog Advantage: Rewrite Your Future by Turning Your Disadvantages Into Your Superpowers. He also created the Better Life Journal to help people implement principles taught in his books and online courses. In 2019, one of Dean Graziosi's dreams came true. He began a partnership with internationally known speaker and entrepreneur, Tony Robbins. They've launched multiple self-education courses and programs that are designed to help anyone leverage the knowledge they have to build a business and generate income. If you woke up saying, "damn, I could really use some free life coaching," this is the day for you. In honor of Black History Month I'm dedicating the next four episodes (and so many more coming after that) about the grit of some of the most inspiring Black entrepreneurs, creatives, and inspirations in my life. Today I chat with the brilliant Gloria Atanmo, aka Glo, who went from broke and hungry, to growing a seven figure business while traveling the world doing exactly what she loves. We connect in so many ways, but this conversation made me fall in love with her glowing spirit even more. When we find ourselves in a difficult season of our lives, we may ask ourselves the question, How did I get here? And when we aren't able to figure it out right away, we may turn on ourselves for the blame—bringing on deep feelings of regret and shame. Psalm 145 reminds us that when we seek the Lord, He will answer us and deliver us from all our fears. It also says “Those who look to Him are radiant—and their faces shall never be ashamed.” Our guests this week dealt with really tough circumstances—ones that caused them to question deeply who they were and where they would end up. CNN anchor Christi Paul dealt with an abusive spouse and didn't know where to turn, until she was at the end of her rope and a verse from Proverbs brought her hope that she could trust God to find a way out—not her own understanding. Travel blogger Glo Atanmo was in another country when she became very ill and had to have a major surgery that set her back for months. As she wondered how she would recover physically, emotionally and financially, a caring nurse gave her a copy of Jesus Calling where she was able to find a bit of hope to see beyond the place she was in. I tell people all the time, ‘You were not born to be abused, but God can take really horrible situations and make something really good out of them.'” - Christi Paul “I realized the importance of words because of how they were used against me. I felt how they cut you, even if they don't cut you physically, emotionally they just can rip you to shreds if you do not use the right words, if you do not use some care and compassion.” - Christi Paul “We will never run out of chances with God, even if we screw up again and again and again. God is there every single time to just hold our hand and pick us up and say, ‘Let's try this again together.'” - Christi Paul “I learned that a healthy relationship will never require you to sacrifice your friends or your dreams or your dignity, and I just want everybody to know God is for you.” - Christi Paul “When I look back on that journey, I think it was that moment where I stopped giving the glory and the honor and the praise to God. I got so full of my own skills and what I accomplished. And, Oh, Glo, you're killing it, girl, like, you know, and you forget who qualified you, who gave you the opportunities and the blessing.” - Glo Atanmo “I don't care about what I can do for myself. How can I help the world? How can I heal the world? How can I speak to those who are also going through a traumatic experience? And it's so incredible how God will use seasons of pain to really set you up for your next season of elevation.” - Glo Atanmo “When you have purpose and legacy behind what you do, you feel more called and led in your work. [And] if we can be more intentional with the way we use our words and how we deliver them and how we pour into people with them, we're literally delivering healing to other people.” - Glo Atanmo ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel: Audio Playlist: https://bit.ly/2PrbuwH Video Playlist: https://bit.ly/2PsmEkJ What's Good? In this episode with Glo Atanmo, Sharon sits down to talk about how we consume social media and the person behind the posts. Glo has many titles, roles, and passions but is best described as a creative educator. She has traveled to over 80 countries, and with every post, she approaches them with an educational lens, because she loves to learn and share experiences with others. In this conversation, the two open up about having public platforms and the pressures that come along with this. There is no blueprint for following your passion and throughout the discussion, Sharon and Glo discuss their personal experience with being in the public eye and how they got to where they are today. Glo Atanmo tells all about creating a passion led business and a blog that adds value to her business. Sometimes there's a podcast guest that joins me on Online Marketing Made Easy and they leave me, well… speechless. Speechless because they live life on their own terms and their adventurous spirit can teach us a thing or two about this entrepreneurial life we might not have considered before. Glo Atanmo is one of those people. Featured in Oprah Magazine, Conde Nast, Essence and more, Glo got her start at 16 when she purchased her first “big girl” domain and taught herself coding basics -- fast forward to today, a decade later, and she's running a 7-figure business, traveling the world and blogging about it as she goes. In this episode we talk about Glo's tips for using a blog to build a business -- and yes, you definitely need to dust off your blog and get it back up and running -- she also tells the story of how she got her start with just $500 in her pocket, and what you need to know today about succeeding as a multi-passionate entrepreneur. And if you thought Glo was finished there, you haven't met this inspirational icon. Because Glo shares her 5-point framework for building a sustainable business -- and what passion has to do with it. Hear that, my fiery entrepreneurs? Glo is spelling out exactly how much to bank on your passion when starting a sustainable business...and the 4 factors that support your passion to make sure that you're playing the long game. If we've piqued your inner travel bug's interest -- it's time to hit play and join us! This interview was so much fun and I can't wait for you to hear how it inspires you in your next business adventure. Here's a glance at this episode... [04:28] When Glo was 22, she took $500 and booked a one-way ticket to Europe. She shares the scariest thing about this experience and how she had to get scrappy. [07:59] The biggest lesson she learned was that opportunity will find you if you are available and always find gratitude in each situation. Everything is an opportunity to thrive and grow. [13:43] Glo has expanded her business into a digital course teaching other bloggers how to land brand deals, which allows her to connect with female bloggers who have a deeper mission. [23:22] Is blogging still effective? As a writer, Glo shares how she feels blogs fit within a business model. [27:18] Passion is needed for a sustainable business, but you also need purpose, a promise, to be proficient, and be able to speak to a pain point. [35:12] Action step: Work through Glo's 5 P's: passion, purpose, promise, be proficient, and pain point. Click here to listen! When Glo Atamno stepped on a plane with a one-way ticket and $500 years back, she knew she wanted a life that was different from the one she was expected to live, one filled with adventure, one that broke the mold of how others had always told her life was “supposed” to be lived. What's unfolded has been a life of not just adventure, but also profound exploration, growth, connection, and impact. A life of stories. Over a period of years, she also figured out how to build a powerful living around her quest as a creative entrepreneur and online educator. Starting as a travel blogger, venturing to over 80 countries across 6 continents and telling the stories of destinations around the world, she landed features in Forbes, Oprah Magazine, Conde Nast, Essence, BBC, collaborates with major brands, and hosted "The Glo Show" podcast. But, over time, her journey began to morph into something both bigger and deeper, especially over the last few years, as she felt called to speak honestly and openly on issues of equity, race, and community in a more intentional way. She's the founder of The Social Educators Academy, helping people leverage their social platforms to make a difference and make a living. As we spoke, Glo shared powerful reflections on the travel-centered life she's been living, her experience both in the U.S. and on the road as a Black woman, and how she's continuing to evolve her focus, life, and livelihood in new directions as we all emerge back into a changed world.
