What happens when a church starts strong but loses sight of what truly matters? The early church in Ephesus had an incredible legacy—planted by the Apostle Paul, led by Timothy, and even home to the Apostle John and Mary. But despite their theological strength, Jesus had a serious warning for them: they had lost their first love. In this conversation, Pastor Josh and Jana Howerton, along with Pastor Carlos Erazo, dive into the powerful message behind the letter to the Ephesians in Revelation 2. They explore how distraction, culture, and even good theology can become barriers to genuine love for Christ. Plus, hear about Pastor Josh's eye-opening journey through the ancient ruins of Ephesus, the surprising history behind the Jesus fish symbol, and what it all means for believers today. If you've ever felt like your faith has lost its fire, this conversation is for you!

This is a live recording of a homily that Fr. Eric gave on Dec. 14, 2024 at St. James in Colgan, Ontario. On the Third Sunday of Advent, Fr. Eric speaks about how we are called at times to process our pain and suffering with the Lord to become conduits of healing and grace. Fr. Eric focuses specifically on St. Paul's exhortation to make our requests known to the Lord in prayer as a prerequisite to finding peace and joy in Christ (cf. Phil 4:4-7). How do you discern the call of God on your life? The story of Jonah teaches us a lot about God's call on our lives. Jonah was called by God to be a messenger of the truth and a messenger of peace! That is what missionaries are called to do—to carry God's truth as messengers of peace. God's call on our lives is twofold—it's the call to “come” and the call to “go.” 1.) God calls you to come. God calls you to come to Christ through salvation. He offers you a personal invitation to join His family. But once you come God calls you to go! 2.) God calls you to go. The call to go is seen throughout Scripture and is given to all of God's people! Our churches are full of people who have answered the call to come but will not answer the call to go. When you run from the call of God, you remove yourself from the presence of God. How do you know where God wants you to go and what He wants you to do? Say yes to God's direction. Surrender yourself, and you won't be controlled by fear. In Part 5 of Pastor Daniel Stevens' series, he emphasizes the church's vision statement: Reach Up, Rise Up, Reach Out. He explains that a genuine relationship with God is transformative and calls for action. Referencing John 15:1-8, Pastor Daniel discusses the importance of remaining in Christ, noting that while breakthroughs are significant, maintaining a daily connection through abiding is crucial. He urges believers to actively seek God daily, improving their listening skills in prayer and finding personal ways to connect with God.Pastor Daniel provides four common ways to connect with God: reading the Bible, praying, worshipping, and serving. He encourages finding individual methods within these practices, such as pairing Bible reading with coffee or listening to an audio Bible while running. Pastor Daniel also addresses potential blocks in connecting with God, like bitterness, chronic sin, and apathy, and shares personal anecdotes to illustrate overcoming these barriers. Ultimately, he stresses the importance of consistently working on one's relationship with God to experience true spiritual growth.#ConnectWithGod #SpiritualGrowth #DailyWalkWithGod #AbideInChrist #ReachUpRiseUpReachOut #FaithJourney #PastorDanielStevens[ Video Version ] / [ Sermon Notes ][ Daily Devotions with Pastor Daniel ]STAY CONNECTEDDaily Devotionals with Pastor Daniel: http://goodhope.ag/devotionsSermon Podcast: https://sermons.goodhope.agInstagram: http://instagram.com/goodhopemnFacebook: http://fb.com/goodhopemn

Welcome back to our series on living a Spirit-led life! In Part 2, Pastor Daniel Stevens continues to explore the essential practice of hearing from God. Drawing from Romans 8:1-17 and rich personal anecdotes, Pastor Mike provides practical guidance on how to discern God's voice in our daily lives. In this sermon, Pastor Daniel emphasizes the importance of learning to listen for God's voice rather than trying to force communication. He shares his story of recognizing dreams from God and challenges us to avoid common mistakes, such as assuming we can't hear from God, focusing on negatives, being impatient, mistaking emotions for the Spirit's leading, mixing the Spirit's guidance with human ideas, and taking the path of least resistance. Instead, Pastor Daniel advises us to always evaluate against Biblical truth, engage in intentional prayer, fasting, Spirit-led giving, and to be obedient quickly. He encourages us to pray and seek wisdom from God, believing in His promise to guide us.Thank you for watching. TDAgiantslayer@Gmail.com MingleMateMarry.com podcast youtube and website for the perfect marriage material and swag. They got a great hoodie called its a great day to be married… after today maybe some of you will want to wear purchase it… because many of you are not loving the days you are married… Famous last words on your deathbed Todd Beamer Was A Passenger On United Flight 93, September 11, 2001 Are you guys ready? Lets roll. I have offended God and man, because my work did not reach the quality it should have. DaVinci I finally get to see my Marilynn… spoken by Joe Dimaggio about his wife Marilynn Monroe. What would your last words be? If I have the chance I would like them NOT to be aaahhhhhggg But rather “serve God no matter what, he is worthy”. But King David… he was a shepherd boy, the forgotten son, he was a outcast running from the law, he was King, he was an adulterer and he was a lousy father…. and what did he say? What were his last recorded words… and spoken to his son. Think of that just for a second… scripture records his last words… but is sure to let us know it was to his future heir. His up and coming son… it wasn't words to the nation of Israel, or to his family or to God… it was to his son- the next generation. 1 Kings 2:2 “I go the way of all the earth; be strong, therefore, and prove yourself a man. Prove - appearing… showing up… transforming into We can see the sins of David breeding, spreading in his son Solomon. Yes Solomon was a great king, the wisest of the wise… but David loved his wives… and Solomon really loved his women and wives… and in a few ways we see how Solomon grew up and in how some other ways he never really achieved the character of God was hoping him to have. But David said be strong and prove yourself a man… I wonder what David would have said if could have seen the end of Solomons life. TMI yesterday my wife and I got into a hmmm lets call it a discussion. She said your oldest is 33 years old and you can't tell him what to do, you will put a wall between you both. I said “if I do it the wrong way, yes I would put up a wall…. however it is still and will always be on me to tell my son how to live if he is not living for God”. I have told me boys numerous times growing up… if you don't want to live for God- thats fine, but don't be a phony… just say Im not a Christian… and I will pray you will become one, but I won't be torn up inside that you are a liar. And I loved that my youngest son for a long long time did just that… now he is on fire for God, but you get my point. Grow up and show yourself to be a man… I would add a man of God. One more question… what will it feel like at the end of your life to not show up like a man of God… Look I see a lot of men in our world who are manly… the kill things, they are tough, they sacrifice for their family, they build businesses, they help others… but if you do not know God - Live for God - and win others TO God… are you really a man of God? I love the old song by Todd Snider called Talking Seattle Grunge… about a band that was so alternative and wanted to stand out so much that they formed and decided to never play a song, not a note… it pokes fun of being so different that masses can be fooled and fall in love with the gimmick and forget what being in a band is about… - you should check it out. But point being, the world is full of gimmicks when it comes to what a man is… I am sure when we get to heaven there will be men who were scrawny, ugly, uneducated, poor and maybe never had a wife or a woman… and they were THEEE Men of God that are on display because they realized what being a man is about - being like Jesus. So today…as if I am going to die… I say unto you “Be strong and be a man… a man of God”!

(Acts 7:44-53) We cannot limit God to one place! In the book of Acts, the people had reduced religion to a building. God is greater than all of that; He cannot be confined to one place or time. (07064230316)
