Also, please rate the show today as soon as you complete this podcast. This past Sunday, I preached in Huntsville, Alabama, for the Whitesburg Baptist Church and its incredibly gifted pastor, Dr. Darryl Craft. Through his seven years of leadership in the church, he has led a vital and strong revitalization, and over two thousand people attend weekly. In each service yesterday, people were baptized, joy was expressed, worship was meaningful, and the love for the Bible and its truth was embraced. It was a genuine joy and privilege for Jeana and me to be there with them. We also enjoyed our time over a luncheon with Dr. Darryl Craft and his wife, Vicky. Pray for him and the church as they continue to do all they can to make a difference for Jesus in Metro Huntsville, Alabama. Pray for me this week and next week, as I have many things I am preparing to do in September for various ministries. As Jeana and I look back on nearly forty-nine years together, we are humbled and grateful for how God has carried us. If you long for a marriage that is both meaningful and lasting, you're not alone. Have you ever failed at something you really wanted? What did that experience teach you about yourself? Today, Jay chats with late-night legend Jimmy Kimmel for an unforgettable live conversation at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Jimmy opens the episode playfully roasting Jay, showing off his signature, sharp wit right out of the gate. The laughs quickly give way to a candid, wide-ranging conversation about Jimmy’s life, marked by gutsy decisions, constant reinvention, and moments of surprising vulnerability. Jimmy reflects on the emotional cost of self-expression, his early struggles with being misunderstood, and how persistence (and a healthy dose of delusion) helped him find his place in the world. Jimmy shares how anxiety has shaped his life, from growing up without much money to now being someone people rely on for support, advice, and even financial help. From outrageous pranks and career missteps to a touching tribute to his prank-loving Aunt Chippy, Jimmy constantly balances humor with disarming honesty. Jimmy also opens up about the challenges of becoming more emotionally available, how therapy has helped him grow, and how being a father, and now a grandfather, has reshaped his priorities and softened his edges. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Stay True to Yourself How to Use Humor as a Tool for Healing How to Keep a Lifelong Passion Alive How to Stay Grounded When Success Finds You How to Cope With Anxiety Through Creative Outlets How Helping Others is the Key to Healing Yourself It’s not about being perfect, it’s about being honest, showing up, and continuing to try. Whether through meaningful conversations, creative expression, or simply sharing space with others, healing and connection are always within reach. Send us a textWhat critical questions should you ask before saying "I do"? With half of all marriages ending in divorce despite everyone believing theirs will last forever, these three game-changing questions could save your relationship from becoming another statistic. The marriage journey transforms us in ways we never anticipate. The first essential question recognizes this reality: "Can you handle me changing?" That vibrant 23-year-old you fell in love with will inevitably become a different person at 43 and 63. Many of us marry an image rather than a real person—attracted to their current appearance, ambitions, or how they make us feel—without considering the transformation that decades bring. Whether it's physical changes after children, shifting career goals, or evolving priorities, marriage requires love that transcends these natural evolutions.Equally important is the counterpoint: "Can you handle me not changing?" We often enter marriage with a subconscious desire to mold our partner into versions of ourselves. That spouse who struggles with punctuality, plays video games excessively, or approaches finances differently may never fundamentally change these traits. Before marriage, become a "fruit inspector"—carefully examining consistent patterns and honestly asking if you can accept those unchangeable aspects for a lifetime. Many relationships deteriorate because one spouse continuously pressures the other to become someone they're not designed to be.Finally, ask: "Will you love me when you don't like me?" Every marriage experiences seasons where affection wanes and irritation grows, yet commitment must remain. Many couples mistake the temporary butterflies of the infatuation stage (typically lasting three months to three years) for the foundation of marriage. Real love chooses connection even during difficult seasons and finds ways to rebuild fondness through intentional efforts. These questions highlight why physical intimacy before marriage can cloud judgment about fundamental compatibility issues. The emotional bonds created through sex often lead people to overlook critical differences that become relationship-breaking problems after marriage.Take time to honestly explore these three questions with your partner. Your willingness to face these realities now could make the difference between a marriage that thrives through decades of change and one that joins the sobering divorce statistics.GET THE BETTER MARRIAGE BOOTCAMP HERE:Better Marriage Bootcamp (kenandtabatha.com)Better Marriage 90-Day Devotional:90 Day Better Marriage Devotional - Ken and Tabatha (square.site)DOWNLOAD THE FAMILY MEETING OUTLINE HERE ⬇️https://www.kenandtabatha.com/pl/2148103888Support Our Ministry: https://myalivechurch.org/giveConnect with us:- Website:https://www.kenclaytor.comhttps://www.tabathaclaytor.comhttps://www.myalivechurch.org- Socials:Instagram -https://www.instagram.com/kenclaytor/https://www.instagram.com/tabathaclaytor/https://www.instagram.com/myalivechurch/TikTok-@Ken_Claytor@Tabathaclaytor@myalivechurchFacebook-https://www.facebook.com/PastorKenClaytorhttps://www.facebook.com/pastortabathaclaytorhttps://www.facebook.com/myalivechurch- Ask us questions: info@kenandtabatha.com

"We are calling this little series, “First comes love, then comes …” And it's all about the kind of love we're talking about. If we're talking about agape, first comes love, then comes … sacrifice. First comes agape, then comes … gentleness. Of course, it does! First comes agape, then comes … humility. First comes agape, then comes faithfulness. And if you're talking about an agape kind of love … no kidding. Eros? No way. Agape? A God kind of love? Absolutely! The fact is, you can do sacrifice without agape. You can do gentleness, humility, and faithfulness without agape … at least for a while. But if you are practicing an agape kind of love, you cannot not sacrifice and serve. You can not be gentle and humble with your partner. You can not be faithful to your partner … till death do you part. I'll show you." Stephen "Doc" Pattison, Lead Minister

The Key to a Lasting Marriage and a Family that Heals, Mends, Rests, and Restores...episode 216, Operation Wholeness for Marriage and Family w/ Rich and Val, part 5 of Clarity for the Mission of Parenthood. This is the day! 32 years ago, we made a commitment to forever. We didn't know what all we were committing to, but that's kind of the point. The first half of the 32 years we didn't know how to do commitment from a place of nurturing one another, blessing one another, seeking each other's wholeness and health. The second half of the 32 years, we've been living as ambassadors of wholeness for each other, ourselves, and our family. An ambassador is on mission for the leader. We are on God's mission of restoring and healing. Everything we say and do either hinders or helps restore and heal another person and ourselves. We choose to heal. This has changed everything about our lives, our marriage, our family, and anyone that God brings along our life journey.Every day we strive to build up, mend, and bless. We don't get it right all the time, but I can tell you this - having a partner in life that is committed with me to creating a life that heals means that every day, little by little, our relationship becomes stronger, we become more stable for those around us, and we are more committed to each other than ever before. We began to prioritize taking time to mend and nourish one another.Arguments stopped being a tug-a-war for power and instead were discussions to find common-ground solutions. We no longer were willing to make little "one-up" zingers at each other that would jeopardize healing. Nitpicking was replaced with encouraging words and having grace for one another's imperfections. Because my goal was Rich's healed heart, mind, body, and spirit, I no longer was willing to compromise his progress just so I could "win" an argument or get my way.Likewise, because Rich's goal was my healed heart, mind, body, and spirit, he gave more effort in finding ways to affirm me and restore my injured areas. We both began digging deeper into unhealthy emotions, facing past trauma and earlier malnourishment, identifying generational toxins, and seeking to forgive old resentments. Not only will this phrase help make your marriage last a lifetime, it will also help your marriage stay shiny and amazing. Because it's not just the words coming out of your mouth and your husband hearing them that make them powerful. Although that's certainly part of it, and he will respond to you better. This phrase is also going to change your heart. It does double duty that way. That's why I consider it the most powerful Intimacy Skill of all. On today's episode of The Empowered Wife Podcast, we're talking about a phrase to say every day for a long-lasting marriage. The intimacy at my guest Nicole's house had grown COLD. Acknowledge and Accept that Marriage is a CovenantMarriage is more than a legal document or state acknowledgement. It's a covenant, a promise made before God. This covenant is not formed based on who we are or who we will be, but on a choice. We choose to be one until death. Understanding this helps us fight against the lies that tempt us to run or look elsewhere. It reminds us that our promise to each other is before God and not based on our current circumstances.2. Find Security in Knowing the Purpose of Your MarriageWhen we understand that our marriage has a purpose and that God desires to use our marriage for His kingdom and for our good, we begin to experience our marriages differently. The purpose of marriage was meant to reveal in an earthly human relationship the divine relationship between Christ and His church. Walking in this truth will be a cornerstone for us.3. Cultivate Willing HeartsHaving a willing heart in conversation, intimacy, and sacrifice is key to a thriving marriage. Willingness in conversation means being ready to listen, share, and apologize. Willingness in intimacy involves pursuing, embracing, and trying new things. Willingness in sacrifice includes surrendering your time for their sake, serving, and laying down your desires to be in agreement.ConclusionBuilding a lasting marriage requires more than the usual advice. It requires acknowledging and accepting the covenant of marriage, understanding the purpose of your marriage, and cultivating a willing heart. Join us as we explore these concepts in depth and provide practical advice on how to implement them in your marriage.
