What if the hardest season of your life was actually preparing you to lead at a level you didn't know was in you? If 2025 has taught us anything, it's this: Life is fragile. Plans can crumble. The world can change overnight.Flights are crashing. Wars are no longer distant headlines. Cities are on edge. And for us parents—it's not just anxiety. It's protective instinct. Because we're not only thinking of ourselves. We're thinking of them. It's uncomfortable, even terrifying, to plan for the unthinkable. But it's also the most responsible thing we can do as parents. Not because we're paranoid. But because we love deeply. Fiercely. Completely.Tune into this podcast…Support the show

And people are having fewer babies while tech promises to outsource pregnancy. In this talk, taken from the Come Reaon Dare to Defend Conference, Lenny presents a Christian understanding of why the family is under fire, the hidden threats that lie ahead, and what we need to do about it.

How has everyone been doing? because I have been going through it. September was the most challenging month of my responsible-adult-chapter of my life. It tested every ounce of my resilience and every spiritual tool I've ever preached about. It was the kind of month that makes you question if the universe has a personal vendetta against you. Grief, fear, and raw survival instincts hit me all at once. Here's what I've discovered: in most cases, it's not about rising above or avoiding certain experiences, but instead, radically changing how you experience them. Instead of spiraling in the storm, you dance in the rain.So in this episode, I'm about to share the story of my month filled with loss, terrifying medical chaos, natural disasters, and the business decision that forced me to navigate it all while literally evacuating my family to safety. And I'm also going to share how I'm dealing with it all, because I am still currently in it… what I'm learning, how I'm processing, what I'm leaning into and out of, and my personal healing tools.Links from the episode: Show Notes: https://mindlove.com/369 Become a Mind Love Member for high-value Masterclasses, Growth Workbooks, Monthly Meditations, and Uninterrupted Listening FREE 5-Days to Purpose Email Course Sign up for The Morning Mind Love for short daily notes to wake up inspired Support Mind Love Sponsors Learn more about your ad choices. Over 50% of families deal with addiction. If you have a family member who struggles, it can be challenging to walk the line between compassion and tough love, enabling and offering support. And, the closer the family member, the more challenging it can be to set healthy boundaries. My guest on the podcast today is Dr. Brian Licuanan. Dr. Brian is an author, speaker, and board-certified psychologist practicing in Southern California. He specializes in family crisis interventions and has extensive experience working with highly acute clients struggling with substance abuse disorders and mental health conditions. The 'old' way of thinking about boundaries with a loved one Fatigue in helping a loved one - when is it time to take intervention to the next level? ...and more I also ask Dr. Brian what if YOU are the one dealing with alcohol use disorder? Tune in to hear his answer. SHOW NOTES HERE

In this part three (of a four-part series) Valerie and her therapist colleague Liz Macdonald delve further into the complexities of navigating faith disaffiliation among young adults in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their conversation today focuses on the unique challenges faced in families who belong to "covenantal religions", including the anxiety and isolation that both parents and their evolving young adult children can feel when facing the eternal threats of noncompliance with church covenants. Liz and Valerie delve into the double-bind that people might feel in "covenantal" religious systems (such as LDS and Judaism) where some may feel that they must choose between the crucial human task of authentic spiritual self development and requirement to make and keep certain belief-based covenants in order to be allowed connection with God and family for eternity. Friday's final episode of this series (available via subscription) delves deeply into a highly respected model of human growth and development and explores a possible correlation between the degree of psychological (under) development and one's inability to tolerate the faith expansion process of loved ones. They also discuss how the healthy development of the young adult children might be impacted by lack of support from their parents in the crucial young adult years. This series is intended to offer love and empathy for all both the more traditionally believing LDS parents and their disaffiliated young adult children, shining a light on the extreme complexity of this situation and hoping to offer insights that will help families in our community heal. Hosts Lisa Zambetti and Dean Laffan dive into 'Insolubilia'. Dot's confrontation with Gator goes down pretty much as expected, but how is she going to explain her way out of a burned down house, an electrocuted husband and a pesky State Trooper who is convinced she is the gas station ninja angel who saved his life? And how did she get Wayne and Scotty to go up into the attic in the first place? Lisa and Dean pick it all apart including the significance of all the Nightmare Before Christmas symbology. Cue the disastrous consequences of trying to become something you are not and desperately trying to change the world into what you want it to be. Will Dot's philosophy she imparts to her daughter Scotty work?: basically “If we can't see the bad guys, they can't see us? If we don't talk about them, they don't exist? ” And Lisa has to shout out the extraordinary work of David Rysdahl's “Wayne” who's layered sweet, sad vulnerability as the hapless husband gives this hard candy show the soft center it doesn't want to need. Sara tells the story of her divorce and the recalibrating of life with her 3 boys. How do you take on all of this responsibility- the major one being aware of what your children are going through and helping them emotionally go through the crisis? And equally important, is how do you go through your own grief while parenting your children. Sara takes us on a very personal journey of how she figured ways to support her sons. And how she needed to call on others for help and support with her sons. We always think we should shoulder it all…but Sara realized she wasn't able to do it all herself. She shared what was going on with teachers and coaches and asked for their help in being attentive to her children and alert her if anything unusual surfaced. She also concentrated on each child finding their passion. And working out some of their issues via that passion. For her sons, it wound up being sports and ability to funnel anger, sadness, etc. through the sport and motivation to excel. It worked well for this family. What does it take to help children who are in crisis? Children and teens can face serious issues with depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm, addiction, and more. In this episode, Dr. Rob and Amy Rienow encourage parents and grandparents to avoid the “fix the kid” mindset and instead approach a child crisis as if it were a family crisis. When a child is hurting it all hands on deck. Families need to adopt the marine mindset of “no man left behind.” Check out these additional resources to strengthen your family in times of crisis: Visionary Parenting: https://visionaryfam.com/shop/visionary-parenting/ Five Reasons for Spiritual Apathy in Teens: https://visionaryfam.com/shop/five-reasons-for-spiritual-apathy-in-teens/ Healing Family Relationships: https://visionaryfam.com/shop/healing-family-relationships/
