Feeling totally invisible in your marriage, even though divorce was the last thing you wanted?   In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I chat with Gina Conover, a coach who helps women heal from divorces they never saw coming after years of feeling unseen in their marriages. We dig into that painful mind-twist many women face—feeling like a ghost in their own relationship while still desperately wanting to make it work. Gina breaks down her concept of "the orbiting effect," where we end up circling our partners like satellites, losing ourselves completely in a desperate attempt to be noticed.    Gina shares some game-changing strategies for breaking free, including a simple technique to flip those obsessive questions into statements that actually help you process emotions (instead of spinning in circles). We talk about rebuilding trust in yourself, how to know when you're actually ready to date again (hint: being okay alone is key!), and creating a healthy co-parenting situation—even with someone who made you feel invisible for years.   Resources Mentioned: Sign up for ReNewU waitlist to get early access: https://products.ambershaw.com/signature-waitlist Nail Your Niche: https://ambershaw.samcart.com/products/nail-your-niche Higher Infrared Sauna Blanket use code AMBER 15: https://higherdose.com/products/infrared-sauna-blanket   What We Discuss: Why women struggle to let go of painful marriages Understanding "the orbiting effect" and how it keeps you stuck The emotional toll of invisibility in a relationship How anxious attachment manifests after divorce Rebuilding trust in yourself and learning to be okay alone Navigating co-parenting while still healing   Key Takeaways: "If I need them to step in and make me feel okay versus I'm okay on my own and I want to share my life with someone." Creating a stable, welcoming environment after divorce isn't just about interior design—it's about healing, comfort, and establishing a foundation for your family's new chapter. When children shuttle between homes, the spaces they inhabit profoundly affect their ability to process and adjust to their new reality.Interior designer Molly Anderson discovered this truth through personal experience when her son candidly told her that her ex-husband's house "didn't feel like home." This insight launched her specialty practice helping divorced parents create nurturing environments for themselves and their children. As she reveals, children are remarkably perceptive about their surroundings: "Anytime any of my kids' friends come over, they're like 'oh, your house feels so nice.' I mean, they could be eight years old and say that—you would never even think a kid would notice."The conversation explores practical, budget-conscious approaches to transforming post-divorce spaces. Anderson emphasizes that expensive furniture and professional design aren't prerequisites for creating comfort. Simple changes—warm lighting (using 2700K bulbs instead of harsh white lights), comfortable bedding, and even artificial plants—can dramatically transform how a space feels. Most importantly, involving children in design decisions helps them develop ownership and pride in their new environment. For many newly-single parents, particularly fathers who may not have been primarily responsible for home décor decisions during marriage, identifying personal style presents a significant challenge. Anderson offers compassionate guidance, explaining how she helps clients discover their preferences and create environments that support emotional healing while reflecting their new identity.Whether you're starting from scratch in a new space or transforming an existing home after divorce, this conversation provides thoughtful strategies for creating environments where both parents and children can thrive during this transition. The right surroundings don't just provide physical comfort—they create the foundation for healing and new beginnings.Join our Signal Channel: https://shorturl.at/8yqTbJoin The Divorce Dadvocate Membership Community - FULL Episodes - Live Meetings – FREE Workshops & Courses – Private Discussion Groups & MORE! - https://thedivorceddadvocate.com/membership-tiers/How Are You Adjusting To Your Divorce? This week Ang is joined by Steven Baron, published author, public speaker and a child psychologist who now works in a private practice after 30 years working in primary and secondary schools. Steven has a unique perspective and approach to child psychology, an approach that has been forged through years of seeing too many psychologists focusing on the negatives. In this interview with Ang, Steven discusses his methods, his experiences and his successes and how focusing on the good can change your child's life. KEY TAKEAWAYS After years of working in Schools with children, Steven became tired of the negative approach around child psychology and how the emphasis seemed to always be on finding out what “was wrong with the child.” He explains to Ang how he had a lightbulb moment that shifted his career after being commissioned to write a book. Steven breaks down his new approach to child psychology, focusing on ‘what’s going well’, and shares with Ang the positive effects this has on the children he works with A trait that is common in many parents that have just experienced divorce is to try and compartmentalise their emotions and not show them in front of their children. Steven discusses how this is a big mistake and offers ideas of healthier ways to approach dealing with your emotions. Ang and Steven discuss the importance of the teacher, parent, child triangle and how, ultimately, the child's relationship with their teachers as a role model is infinitely more important than the one of educator/student. BEST MOMENTS “Focusing on what is going right instead of what's going wrong can fundamentally change a child's mindset.” “It’s important to educate children about emotions and let them know that it’s ok to experience them.” “A child won’t remember what you taught them, they’ll remember how you made them feel.” EPISODE LINKS Guest Links https://www.drstevenbaron.com/ https://www.routledge.com/Teaching-with-a-Strength-Based-Approach-How-to-Motivate-Students-and-Build/Baron/p/book/9781032432571 Facebook: Dr Steven Baron / LinkedIn: Dr Steven Baron / Twitter @drstevenbaron1 Use the link below to sign up to the TalkingParents App. 30 Day FREE trial available alongside a completely FREE option too! https://talkingparents.com/dirhm To Connect With Me: htts://linktr.ee/angaab6 www.linkedin.com/in/angallanburns To receive a FREE copy of my 7 Day Journey to Healing After Divorce, Join my Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/reclaimherpower If you enjoy this podcast here is the link to the book 'Do I Really H*te Men?'. This week I'm interviewing Josh Thompson and discussing all things about his life and healing journey after divorce. Joshua Thompson is the oldest of five siblings and was raised by ‘goodly parents' in the beautiful mountains of Southern California. He served as a full-time missionary in the Washington Tacoma Mission and has served in various callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was married in 2003 in the Bountiful Utah Temple and is the proud father of four children. Unfortunately, his marriage ended in divorce in 2021. Shortly after the divorce, Joshua created the YouTube channel ‘Junctions & Journeys' where he produced approximately 75 videos discussing divorce from the perspective of an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In his videos, he shared some of his personal struggles, triumphs, lessons learned, and various tidbits of inspiration that were part of his healing journey. Most importantly, he shared his testimony of Jesus Christ and the hope that only He can provide. Joshua earned an Associate Degree from BYU-Idaho and a Bachelor's of Science and Master's of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah. He currently works as an engineering project manager in the oil and gas industry and has called Texas ‘home' since 2011. Joshua is passionate about many things including spending time with his children, eating delicious food, baking, working out, playing pickleball, reading, listening to podcasts, and serving those in need. When the weight of divorce presses heavily upon your shoulders, you may discover an unexpected friend in the form of self-compassion.  By treating ourselves with the same care and understanding we would offer to a dear friend, we implement a powerful tool for healing and growth. This conversation about self compassion is about learning to be an inner ally and learning to quiet the inner enemy during the turbulence of change. First you'll learn how to gauge how self compassionate you are, and then you'll learn the five tenants of self compassion and how to try each one out and see if it feels resonant for you. Join me on this path to learning about self compassion as nurturing this part of you will help to transform not just your current experience but your entire approach to your divorce and life beyond.
