Thad Wong and Mike Golden, co-founders and co-CEOs of @Properties, bring a wealth of experience from their diverse backgrounds in real estate and consulting. Wong, a seasoned professional with over 25 years in the industry, and Golden, a Boston native with a knack for solving contract-to-closing challenges, both emphasize the importance of workplace culture and relationships in business success. Wong believes that a supportive and inspiring office environment is crucial, attributing much of the company's success to its strong culture and relationships. Similarly, Golden values workplace culture and relationships as key elements for business success, highlighting their efforts to support and connect with their agents during market downturns. Join Bill Risser as he delves deeper into these perspectives with Thad Wong and Mike Golden on this episode of The Real Estate Sessions podcast.Quotes(00:00:35) "And so when you talk about culture and relationships, love that piece of it, that to a lot of people is more important than anything else because not everybody can rely on getting that at home. So if you can get it at the office and you can build strong relationships and you can have that component filled while you're also being inspired and coached to be the best you can be on the field, it's really the best of all worlds." - Thad Wong(00:06:25) "In coming to Chicago, that was really the beginning of my love of basketball. I'd never been a big basketball fan except going to Spartans games with my dad growing up. And so it was really MJ that introduced basketball to me. Now it's my favorite sport to track. And so watching Michael Jordan live at the United center for me was just probably some of my greatest sports memories because there was nothing else. You couldn't go to any stadium, any arena, any field, and have the same feeling you had if you were in a stadium with Michael Jordan on the court." - Thad Wong(00:17:43) "When you have a real culture, you don't have to talk about it. You know, the companies that have robust cultures because they have great retention, they have fabulous growth. You see agents posting and talking about the joys that they experience while being involved in the organization you don't really have to explain to somebody your culture. If you have a culture, it's kind of like a personality." - Thad Wong(00:27:25) "We view kind of end to end, one stop shop solution for everyone, not just the agent." - Mike Golden(00:30:07) "Everything is a relationship. And if you want to have as many relationships as possible, you need to be available 24 hours a day. If you're not available when someone calls you, trust me, you're replaceable and it's less convenient to call you. If you're not going to be there, call text, or email. So 24/7 availability is probably your greatest value. That's free that you can provide when you first get started." - Thad Wong

It's the height of track season and we are starting to see the action heating up even if the temperatures outside aren't quite there yet here in Colorado. I'm actually pretty jealous of the following guest, Andrew Simmons, the owner and founder of Peak Performance Running in Golden CO. It is a club for high school and middle school runners, and is probably similar in many respects to others around the country. The reason the club exists in the first place is that many kids get substandard coaching in their own school programs, so they turn to Peak Performance Running and its team of coaches, athletic trainers, and physical therapists to try to achieve the results they hope to achieve. I'm certainly not knocking all school coaches, one of whom I have been. I know many, many great coaches who truly care about the kids they coach and have developed the knowledge and techniques to deliver superb experiences to them. I've also observed schools that don't put any effort at hiring a coach with any relevant track experience. The school at which I recently coached is one of two in the league that simply gave the head track coach job to the football coach; ours admitted he knew nothing about track, but he was learning about it by watching YouTube videos! What are we doing here? Unfortunately, that is way too common in our schools, especially in sports outside of football, basketball, volleyball, and baseball. So that's where clubs like Andrew's come in. I'm jealous as I said because he can run the Peak Performance the way he likes and doesn't have to deal with bureaucratic school administrators. What he has built is truly extraordinary. It's a club that not only coaches, but also emphasizes character development. It hosts meets and camps, too, that showcase the fun these young runners have whether they are just starting out or have moved to more competitive levels. If you are a taxpayer with kids in school or not, this is an interesting discussion about how someone like Andrew has a vision to serve others and fill a gaping need. I think the lesson here also is that there is a strong argument for these clubs that operate outside of the school coaching realm, just like there are similar youth clubs in sports like soccer, volleyball, and more.GoFundMe to buy a new racing chair for Julia Beckley.  Thank you!http://bit.ly/3ZGigAbAndrew Simmonsandrew@lifelongendurance.compeakperformrun.comFacebook Peak Performance RunningInstagram @peakperfomancerunningBill Stahlsilly_billy@msn.comFacebook Bill StahlInstagram @stahlor

You've undoubtedly heard various business names, but @properties for a real estate company? There has to be a compelling story behind that name. Listen in and get the story behind the naming from my guests Thaddeus Wong and Michael Golden, the co-CEOs and co-Founders of @properties and co-CEO's of Christie's International Real Estate. in this episode of The Real Estate Sessions. Long story short, they believed that building something bigger than themselves was the key to success and named their company after this thought. Starting their firm after an opportunity from a client who offered them his business after they left their previous company where the duo worked, they have come so far as to make it run successfully for over 23 years now! And despite some challenges along the way, their business has only flourished. The secret to their success? That's a lot of things, including dedication and hard work. But two of the most important ones, they will tell you, are culture and relationships. Thad and Mike have, for the longest time, focused on building a strong sense of community among their agents and offered support and guidance through financial education and marketing programs. They have helped their agents feel connected and not isolated, even during a difficult period in the market. Their core value of relationships has paid off, leading to their best growth during and after the downturn.Their company also has a unique approach to technology adoption. They have a team of engineers who have been building their technology stack for the past 15 years, focusing on creating a fully integrated platform for real estate agents that saves time and offers convenience. They understand the needs of real estate agents as they were salespeople themselves for many years and continue to adapt their program to meet the changing needs of agents! In addition to technology, @properties has integrated Christie's International Real Estate brand into its platform, providing a complete end-to-end transaction solution. The company believes that having local independent leaders as partners, rather than having a corporation own all brokerages, is the key to obtaining the best agents with an entrepreneurial spirit. They aim to provide value to the homeowner, eventually increasing referrals and repeat usage. Listen to the episode for more!Success clues from today's episode:● A strong sense of community and close relationships with coworkers is more important to many people than the pay they receive, leading to their leadership team not losing anyone of substance.● @properties navigated a difficult market period by offering support and guidance to their agents through financial...

As I've mentioned, I'm a huge believer that if you want to keep working out without interruption, you must address your muscle imbalances and your overall balance, and in many instances work on your mobility, flexibility, and overall strength. These efforts should be happening year-round, but in particular we often have more opportunity to do so in the winter. So I thought it would be most appropriate to bring into the Hive Sammie Lewis, a prehab, rehab, and strength coach with Golden Endurance from right here in Golden CO. Sammie and her fellow coaches bring a holistic approach to training those aspects and provides her thoughts here for getting the most bang for your buck when dealing with health insurance for your injury rehab. Sammie and I also have some interesting discussions about the most important exercises endurance athletes can do, including plyometrics and ones for activating your glutes when you run, something many of us hear about, but few really know how to do. Then we delve into the pluses and minuses of modalities like PRP, orthovisc, blood flow restriction therapy, dry needling, cupping, e-stim, and icing. This episode is very informative for any athlete. There are probably a few areas that you have experienced or investigated, and perhaps something new, like I had never heard of blood flow restriction therapy, so I hope you find something useful to keep moving your athletic career forward.Sammie Lewisinfo.golden.endurance@gmail.comwww.golden-endurance.comInstagram @golden.enduranceBill Stahlsilly_billy@msn.comFacebook Bill StahlInstagram @stahlor

Enjoy Food, Enjoy Travel, and Enjoy Life with your show host, Elikqitie!   In this episode, I'm chatting with Gluten Free Dave who has been gluten free for over ten years. Gluten Free Dave's journey began with an autoimmune disease diagnosis of Hashimoto's thyroid disease. A long-term family doctor never tested Dave for thyroid disease because his doctor thought only women had thyroid problems. Changing doctors was a significant first step, but his doctor didn't understand gluten or nutrition. "I have always loved to cook, but since going gluten-free, I have become obsessed with baking too! I was a beer drinker before going gluten-free. I was basically on the Atkins diet after going GF as I didn't know what I was doing and only ate meat and vegetables!"   After going GF, Dave didn't drink beer for over a year because he didn't know GF beers existed. There is a lot of misinformation about what a GF beer is, and he learned the hard way that gluten-removed is not gluten-free!    In line with his passion for beer, Dave has created his vacation adventures around visiting gluten-free breweries. He's visited six of the 15 gluten-free breweries in the US and has a goal to see them all. "My wife and I have planned our recent vacations around the cities that host GF breweries. We research nearby safe restaurants and love to hike." So far, Dave's visited GF breweries in Seattle, WA, Portland OR, Golden CO, St Paul MN, Madison, WI, and Tulsa, OK, with plans to visit more gluten-free breweries in the upcoming Post-COVID travel months!   We talk about his experience with social media and how his social media account has created a common thread with his kids, our delicious brand we both love, Pamcakes and great gluten-free places to visit.   Listen in to find out where you can find great gluten-free breweries, which breweries have a gluten-free food selection, National Park travel tips, and tips for gluten-free travel. A lot went into being one of the oldest Nike grassroots programs in the country and Coach shares with us the trails they all went through to get to this point. Along with being apart of the Eagles organization, Coach Golden is also a Hall of Fame Athlete from Missouri State University in Springfield MO.  Golden was the first African-American student-athlete to receive an athletics grant-in-aid for the sport of track at MSU. Golden also played junior varsity basketball for MSU as a freshman. In track, he was a standout high jumper for teams which regularly challenged for MIAA honors, finished third in the league four years in a row in the conference indoor meet and third three times and league runner-up in 1965 in the MIAA outdoor championship. Golden placed in the top five in the high jump in both the MIAA indoor meet and outdoor meets all four years he competed, including finishing second in the 1962 indoor meet and winning the championship in the 1962 outdoor event. He tied the school record in the high jump as a junior and held a share of that record at the time he graduated. He was also a track co-captain as a senior in 1965. A great history lesson for grassroots programs, give me feed on the episode. Follow on:Bryan Turner - @Coach.Bryan.Turner (Instagram)Bryan Turner - @CoachBT_Turner (Twitter)Bryan Turner - $BTHoopCoach (CashApp)https://www.bryanturnerbasketball.comhttps://teespring.com/stores/the-paint

Well, Steve and I talk about how athletes can use this pause and reset time to really ramp up their ambassador-athlete-brand game in this time of an extended-off-season. How can athletes be better at branding themselves - at leveraging their image and influence? Well - Steve has a few thoughts about that. And spoiler alert: it has a LOT more to do with the athlete as a person and their entire platform, than it does about just the results and performance alone. We are back in Golden, Colorado, where Amy Dannwolf and Jordan Jones are crushing it in ski retail. Their brick-and-mortar and online retail store Powder7 is huge, both in size and stature—11,000 square feet of warehouse space, and a local retail sales floor, all run by a staff that has helped them earn kudos from Outside Magazine as a great place to work. We hear about how and why they have such great team members. And how does a business launched in Mom’s basement have an easier time being principled than some other businesses might? Powder7 also has something in common with Southwest Airlines. It regards the single most important person in the business equation and—surprise—it’s not the customer. How have this pair, with no retail or ecommerce experience, done so well and developed a huge operation with a global fan base? Possibly because they had no reference standard for what’s possible. They just did it.

This is a retail story for the digital age, when local businesses are worried about competing with Amazon. Amy Dannwolf and Jordan Jones of Powder7 in Golden, Colorado started a business in his mom’s basement with some lightly used snow skis. Today, they have 11,000 square feet of warehouse, and a retail storefront that serves customers from around Denver—and even around the world. They made this business work probably because they didn’t know anything about running retail or building websites. They had no expectations or preconceptions. They’re both track stars who met at Boston University. Jordan’s a history major who became a Denver cop, and Amy is an economics major who joined him in the business. He taught himself how to code websites with books for Dummies, and the rest is history. Powder7 is a model for how a local business really can compete with online monsters. Instead of an online retail business with faceless, anonymous transactions, Powder 7 is a business with global reach, worldwide fans, and even personal relationships. Would you ever think about walking into Amazon? Plenty of online customers have walked into Powder7—which speaks to a company culture like you wouldn’t expect.
