Building your personal brand is not just a nice to do, it is a must-do. No matter how introverted or against social media you are -  building your personal brand is critical on so many levels. During our conversation with Kate Pozeznik, who is a personal branding expert, she shares her views on how, why, and what you need to do to build your personal brand.  One of the most important aspects of building your brand is to know that 70% of employers evaluate candidates by watching what you say and how you say it. This is one important way for employers to keep an eye on how you are being inside and outside of your place of employment.  We also discuss how our identity gets tied to our careers and that we are so much more than our careers. We are leaders, moms, sisters, community activists, friends, thought leaders and the list goes on and on. Our identity is not what we do but more about who we are, what are we known for, our values, and to make it personal and yet still professional. So building your brand and being authentically you is more important than ever. Kate shares wonderful tips on how to get started such as updating your LinkedIn profile and using Canva to create a banner for your backdrop.  But it's not just about having a LI profile, it's about setting yourself up as a thought leader and many of us think “What do I have to share that would interest others?” Chances are if you are thinking that someone else is thinking the same thing you have the opportunity to engage with other like-minded individuals.  She also recommends you google yourself – by conducting a social media audit you ensure that what is online is reflective of who you want the world to see and get to know. These are just a couple of her tips, have a listen to learn more and if you have questions please feel free to reach out. Or if you know someone who would gain from listening to this episode of the WIL Talk podcast please do share with them. Kate Pozeznik is a personal branding expert and founder of Quirk. She has been cited in Buzzfeed, AARP, and Upworthy. She is also an ADHD and mental health advocate, avid traveller, Salsa and bachata dancer and so many more interests. If networking is not your thing, maybe it's time to start loving it. Visit us at www.wilempowered.com to learn about our own demand networking course and move from hating it to loving it. Monthly we host live Q&A sessions where you build your networking skills, ask questions and make new connections.  #personalbranding #networking #connecting #identity #wilempowered #wiltalk

As a Storytelling & Branding Consultant my work is all about sharing the skills and benefits of storytelling as a way of doing business in a world shifting from hype and manipulation to connection, collaboration & community. Through my various careers as a teacher, lecturer, mentor & coach, I learned how our stories are carried and crafted in our human interactions. I help my clients (Service-Based Professionals, Micro & Small Businesses) develop authentic storytelling skills as a form of interactive dialogue. Learning how to dialogue is all about deepening and enriching their communication – an essential part of running a successful business. Being able to engage in real dialogue is a gift that keeps on giving - and includes creating greater trust, building mutual respect and forging meaningful relationships. They see branding as a design exercise or a corporate identity that doesn't go beyond the screen. Guess what: none of this is actually branding.  According to Ernie Harker, an ignited brand revolves around the personality of a company and should be expressed in its marketing strategies, communication style, choice of language, and product packaging. Brand owners must use the right tools to create an authentic and compelling brand that sets you apart from the crowd and makes you more competitive.  In this episode of the NexxtLevel Brands Podcast, Ernie Harker, a Branding Consultant and Owner of Ernburn, joins Steve Cleere to talk about his best practices for developing a brand strategy that's on fire. Ernie also talks about the value of building an authentic brand, factors to consider when creating a branding strategy, and how he's helped some of his past clients rebrand for the better. I am thrilled to have Candace Molatore on the podcast today. I have followed Candace on Instagram for quite awhile now, and I have to say I'm obsessed! She is beautiful, with impeccable style, but more importantly- her words and writing speak to me so much. She's like that calm, nurturing and honest friend that you cling on to every word she says to learn and do better as a person yourself.     Candace Molatore is a Self-Love Advocate, Branding Consultant and Photographer based in Portland, OR. With a passion for building community, Candace uses her photography and writing skills to broadcast the message of self confidence, body positivity and inclusivity online. She shares her interests, inspiration, tips and everyday life with her audience regularly through social media. With a modest but strong following behind her, Candace continues to spread the message of inclusivity and self-love with high-quality visuals, a strong work ethic and a mission to make everyone feel empowered in their own skin.     Today's podcast sponsor is super special. When I approached Candace to come on the show, I mentioned a charity donation to support a cause that was important to Candace to say thank you for her time coming on the show. Candace also met my donation, and suggested that I share about the charity as the sponsor of the episode, and I thought it was such a brilliant suggestion!   So, today I am honored to tell you about the Jim Collins Foundation.    The mission of the Jim Collins Foundation is to provide financial assistance to transgender people for gender-affirming surgeries. The Jim Collins Foundation recognizes that not every transgender person needs or wants surgery to achieve a healthy transition. But for those who do, gender-affirming surgeries are an important step in their transition to being their true selves. However, access to gender-affirming surgery is impossible for most. Discrimination against transgender people is so prevalent that many transgender people struggle to survive, never mind save for surgery costs. Even for those who have health insurance, coverage is systematically denied. Many insurance policies contain a “Transsexual Exclusion Clause” which excludes all medical procedures related to a person's transgender status. For many transgender people, access to surgery is out of reach. The Jim Collins Foundation raises money to fund gender-affirming surgeries for those transgender people who need surgery to live a healthy life, but have no ability to pay for it themselves. We recognize that for those people who require surgery for a healthy gender transition, lack of access to surgery may result in hopelessness, depression, and sometimes, suicide. The Jim Collins Foundation is a community-based initiative promoting the self-determination and empowerment of all transgender people. Click here to learn more about the Jim Collins Foundation and donate.   In this episode we discuss:  Candace shares her story and life's journey leading her to the work she does today as a self love advocate, branding consultant and photographer What impacted Candace in the past with lack of self love and her tips for how she changed the narrative internally of her own self worth The origins of the body positive movement and how to respect its origins  How can we be more respectful to the challenges Black women face of feeling body positive and embracing wellness Candace's tips on using social media as a way to uplift ourselves, rather than compare and judge ourselves How we can as a collective whole be more inclusive to all body sizes How we vote with our money, and choosing brands that are inclusive to all body sizes How Candace built a wardrobe and style that fits her body and represents her personality How Candace practices wellness without obsession   Learn more: Candace's Instagram account Candace's website Candace on staying confident in swimwear Candace on tips for confidence Brand mentioned in the episode, Girlfriend Collective   Resources for you: Learn more about our services at Nourishing Minds Nutrition. I am thrilled to have Candace Molatore on the podcast today. I have followed Candace on Instagram for quite awhile now, and I have to say I’m obsessed! She is beautiful, with impeccable style, but more importantly- her words and writing speak to me so much. She’s like that calm, nurturing and honest friend that you cling on to every word she says to learn and do better as a person yourself. Today’s podcast sponsor is super special. Many insurance policies contain a “Transsexual Exclusion Clause” which excludes all medical procedures related to a person’s transgender status. In this episode we discuss:  Candace shares her story and life’s journey leading her to the work she does today as a self love advocate, branding consultant and photographer What impacted Candace in the past with lack of self love and her tips for how she changed the narrative internally of her own self worth The origins of the body positive movement and how to respect its origins  How can we be more respectful to the challenges Black women face of feeling body positive and embracing wellness Candace’s tips on using social media as a way to uplift ourselves, rather than compare and judge ourselves How we can as a collective whole be more inclusive to all body sizes How we vote with our money, and choosing brands that are inclusive to all body sizes How Candace built a wardrobe and style that fits her body and represents her personality How Candace practices wellness without obsession   Learn more: Candace’s Instagram account Candace’s website Candace on staying confident in swimwear Candace on tips for confidence Brand mentioned in the episode, Girlfriend Collective   Click here to get your hands on my new free mini course, the Summer Reset!   CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE WAITLIST FOR THE NEXT ENROLLMENT OF PERMISSION STAGE PLAYBOOK.    Resources for you: Learn more about our services at Nourishing Minds Nutrition. At the time she had just started her business and was scared at the thought of doing live videos and selling.   Now, she’s getting out there and building alliances, growing her business, landing speaking engagements, and so much more... Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Document the process - Aleah was super scared at the thought of going live on video. Yet, when I gave her the advice to just document the process that she was going through, it allowed her to keep things simple and get her first video out there. Feel afraid and make the commitment - Even though Aleah feels the fear, she’s committed to doing the work. This has allowed her to become successful in short time span. She sees the bigger picture and realizes what she’s doing it for. She admits that you’re going to be uncomfortable either way, whether you go for it or do nothing. Get super specific - If you want to get results and have the impact you want, then Aleah points out that you have to get specific. Niche down, pick one problem and pick one person that you’re going to solve it for. Overcoming doubt and slowing down - Aleah admits that she used to always be in a rush. Now, she wakes up a bit earlier and gives herself more time. This has allowed her to gain a greater awareness of herself and her feelings and do what it takes to overcome them. Create a process and package your service - Aleah has been able to offer a comprehensive package that her clients need. Beforehand she would do things in bits and pieces. Taking note of typical client questions and teaching clients what they needed to know about branding is how she was able to create a packaged service. And lots more! Episode 105. "Getting dressed is a conversation with ourselves before it's a conversation with anybody else." ~Nicole Otchy, personal stylist, branding consultant, podcaster What's your wardrobe style? That question can short circuit the finely-tuned minds of otherwise competent people. Throw in a pandemic with its whiplash-inducing pivot to online all the time meetings or events and you've got a recipe for closet calamity. Performed without context, all the recent Kondo-izing or late-night online buying binges can add up to a closetful of clothes but no strategy for creating outfits that project a sense of the person behind the brand. Enter Nicole Otchy, personal stylist, personal branding consultant, and host of The Self Styled Podcast, a show helping listeners unlock their personal style. Yes, before you say anything, it's Nicole's firm belief that everyone has style. Things get complicated, however, when confidence gets hijacked by chatter. Conversations around how women “should” dress are mired in all sorts of “rules” - for our body type, our age, our career path or industry. Everything's changed, seemingly overnight, and dressing can be an act of self-care right now. As the world shakes off its layers of pandemic pajamas, however, greater emphasis will be placed on virtual professional events and entirely revamped careers. Nicole also foresees drastic shifts in shopping habits and as well as a greater emphasis on societal wellbeing. In other words, if you haven't given style much thought, now might be a great time to revisit how you intend to style yourself and your brand for the future. With a name like "sweet D" everyone expects something sweet, especially during the holidays. Because I own a chocolate company, Love Bird Chocolates, they also expect my dark chocolate sea salt caramels.... but I love tossing a curve call with these little babies! I honestly don't remember where I got the recipe...It's a combination of one I must have gotten from a sunset article and my own take on it. Here you go: 2 and 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour (spoon & leveled)1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda2 teaspoons ground ginger1 and 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon1/4 teaspoon ground cloves1/4 teaspoon nutmeg1/4 teaspoon salt3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature3/4 cup (150g) packed light or dark brown sugar1/4 cup (60ml) unsulphured or dark molasses1 large egg (at room temperature)2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract1/3 cup (67g) granulated or coarse sugar, for rolling  Step 1:Whisk the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt together until combined. Set aside. Step 2:In a large bowl using a hand-held or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter and brown sugar together on high speed until creamy and combined, about 2 minutes. Add the molasses and beat until combined. Then add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until combined, about 1 minute. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed. Step 3:On low speed, slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined. The cookie dough will be slightly sticky. Cover dough tightly with aluminum foil or plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour and up to 2-3 days. Step 4Preheat oven to 350°F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. (Always recommended for cookies.) Set aside. Step 5: Remove cookie dough from the refrigerator. If the cookie dough chilled longer than 2 hours, let it sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes. The cookies may not spread in the oven if the dough is that cold. Roll cookie dough, 1 Tablespoon each, into balls. Roll each in granulated sugar and arrange 3 inches apart on the baking sheets. Bake for 11-12 minutes or until edges appear set and tops are cracking. Step 6:Remove from the oven and allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cookies will stay fresh, and soft as long as they are covered at room temperature for 1 week.  :::::::::::::::: Read Sue's blog here--Make it Count: Living a Legacy LifeSubscribe to WelcomeHeart.com here to receive weekly thoughts on faith, legacy and a good recipe or two.
