Those heartwarming, tear-jerking masterpieces that manage to devastate and uplift us all at once. Then, in part two, the trio takes a retrospective look back at everything they watched throughout the month of May, checking the box office receipts and separating the genuine cinematic triumphs from the total duds. The Short Short Film Film Review takes a poignant turn as the hosts dive into the deeply moving short-form documentary, A Place Like This. Finally, the Cruise Cruise docks in 1993 for the legal thriller The Firm. Tom trades in his dress uniform for Harvard law degrees, high-stakes tax fraud, and a web of corporate corruption. Can Mitch McDeere outsmart the mob and the FBI, or is he just another asset owned by the company? With the usual blend of silliness, seriousness, and a vital Scientology Watch update along the way, it's time to take Cruise Control.

Adapted from the hit graphic novels, these episodes deepen the series' themes of identity, honesty, and young love as the characters take meaningful steps forward. Joe Locke (Agatha All Along, Sweeney Todd on Broadway) shines as Charlie Spring, whose vulnerability comes to the forefront as he navigates bullying, self-worth, and the courage to believe he deserves happiness. Kit Connor (Rocketman, Warfare) delivers a standout performance as Nick Nelson, whose journey toward self-acceptance reaches a powerful milestone—culminating in heartfelt confessions, the long-awaited label of “boyfriends,” and a joyful sense of freedom. The season finale also spotlights the Paris school trip, featuring tender moments like the hotel room kiss, the Louvre visit, and the quietly triumphant beach scene, all of which have become some of the show's most talked-about sequences. ABOUT GLORIA GAYNOR AND HAPPY TEARS Two-time GRAMMY winner Gloria Gaynor has released the new single "Fida Known", an empowered reflection on a past relationship that serves as a showcase for Gaynor's showstopping voice and effortless vocal charisma. Co-written by Gaynor in Nashville alongside GRAMMY-winning songwriters Chris Stevens and Michael Pollack (Miley Cyrus, Maroon 5), "Fida Known" is Gaynor's first new solo single since the release of 2019's GRAMMY-winning LP 'Testimony', and an emphatic declaration of the power of hindsight when overcoming adversity. Over pulsing handclaps and synth keyboard stabs, Gaynor opens the track by acknowledging her infatuation with a past lover: "You were drivin' me crazy / The kind of crazy that made me see stars". Her declaration of love then gives way to a wiser Gaynor, who laments her shortsightedness in an instant-classic hook: "Fida known that you never / Woulda loved me forever / I'da found someone better / Who could hold me tight." The track is a return to her recognizable disco sound after the breathtaking rootsy gospel of 'Testimony,' and the production of Matt Bronleewe immerses Gaynor's voice in a funky mid-tempo groove that's tailor made for the dance floor or driving with the top down. "Fida Known" is the first taste of Gaynor's 'Happy Tears' EP, an empowering groove-filled journey that sees her working with up-and-coming songwriters Sam Tinnesz (Kygo, Fitz and the Tantrums), Caitlyn Smith (Miley Cyrus, Meghan Trainor), and Liz Rose (Taylor Swift). The EP is a continuation of Gaynor's new chapter that began with 2019's 'Testimony' and was followed by a collaboration with Kylie Minogue ("Can't Stop Writing Songs About You") in 2022. "Happy Tears" will be released on May 9th. A biopic of Gaynor's life and career titled Robin Roberts Presents - I Will Survive: The Gloria Gaynor Story aired February 8th on Lifetime. Produced by Robin Roberts, the film depicts Gaynor's rise to fame from her humble beginnings to becoming one of the most iconic voices in music history. While the Robin Roberts produced biopic focuses on Gloria's early life and career, ending with Gaynor divorcing her husband and reclaiming control of her creative passions; the full length documentary that aired directly after the biopic on February 8th picked up where the biopic leaves off. In the documentary film, we follow Gloria as she realizes her longtime dream of releasing a gospel album.Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive is a journey of faith, hope and a magnificent second act. The film premiered in 2023 at the Tribeca Film Festival to critical acclaim. It tells the inspirational story of Gloria's recovery from personal and professional struggles to rebuild her life and record the GRAMMY-winning gospel album 'TESTIMONY'. The film - directed by Betsy Schecter - was praised by Billboard as "sublime", while Variety noted it "proves the disco legend still has life to live". ABOUT GLORIA GAYNOR Music icon Gloria Gaynor's legendary career spans over 50 years and shows no signs of slowing down. The 2x GRAMMY winner has achieved global stardom with hit songs in the charts in all five decades. She has also shared her talent through roles in film, television, and the Broadway stage. A Lifetime TV Network biopic, Robin Roberts Presents - I Will Survive: The Gloria Gaynor Story premiered on February 8th. The film chronicles Gloria's rise to fame, from her humble beginnings to becoming one of the most iconic voices in music history. Dubbed America's "Queen of Disco," the movie features many of the songs that catapulted Gloria to the top of the charts, including her legendary hit "I Will Survive," which became a cultural phenomenon and a powerful anthem of empowerment for millions worldwide. Gloria continues to perform around the world each year with her ten-piece band, appearing at major music festivals and concert events each year along with several high-profile private engagements. Recent performances include the Joy Awards (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), Le Bal de la Rose (Monte Carlo, Monaco), the Cannes Film Festival (Cannes, France). Gloria headlined the world-famous Rock in Rio Festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in September, performing to an audience of over 150,000.https://orcd.co/happytearsggBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/i-am-refocused-radio--2671113/support.

SHOW NOTES Well, Hey Framily! Welcome to Coffee & Kathy, this is Stef from the Grief 2 Great Day Podcast. You are listening to our weekly devotional episode. Grief is the hardest thing you'll ever face, don't ever let anyone diminish that – but let's also not diminish the power of God's Word and the transformational healing He will do in your life. I am a living testimony of going from pitiful (heartbroken, years of tears, angry at God & the world, overwhelmed and confused) to powerful (at peace, joyful and strong in my trust, hope and faith in God). You are not alone and your today does not have to be your forever! Oh, I'm so glad you're here today! What you need to do now is be still and just listen. Memorable Quote: But I am not always with Him. I forget that He is right here. Loving me. Enjoying me. Wanting to spend time with me. Seeking my heart. Painting rainbows, sunsets, and flowers for my enjoyment. Providing sweet treats for my taste buds and my soul. Willing to listen every moment. Willing to guide every decision I make. Willing to give me all I need, all the time. Thankfully, His presence is not based on my remembrance of Him. He is there whether I see Him or not. We delved into the world of darts, pop culture, and even had a special guest from Harry Potter! Here are three key takeaways from this episode: 1. Positive Vibes and Happy Tears One of the standout moments from this episode was when I nervously shared a personal story about finding joy and happiness after a period of grief. It was a powerful reminder that even in challenging times, we can rediscover ourselves and experience moments of pure happiness. The podcast highlighted the importance of embracing change and growth, even after facing significant losses. Hear how our trip to New York for the US Darts Masters re-ignited my joy and hopefully inspires you to do the same! 2. We begin this week's episode discussing how important connection to where you grew up could be. Christian discusses his new problem of his eyes leaking when he's happy. We play a voice mail about stuttering and then discuss a series of voice mails about whether the Bible condemns or maybe even supports abortion. We wonder if fear mongering about what the Supreme Court will do next is warranted. We end by discussing whether a new major religion is possible in the future. Biebers involve car chases and TV show extras.
