Hey friend... The stress of hosting for the holidays is real. You've been thinking about the menu for weeks, you've deep cleaned like you haven't done since last year, and you think you've thought through just about everything. This week, week 5 in our five part series: Getting your home holiday ready!, is all about making sure things don't fall through the cracks and leave you scrambling at the end. Do you have enough chairs? Checking that this week. What will the baby eat? Checking that this week. Are you pulling out wrinkled napkins that were put away last Thanksgiving? Yup...checking that this week. This five part series is designed to save you the unwelcome and sometimes unimaginable stress that surrounds the holidays. So whether it's this holiday or next Easter that you'll be hosting, earmark this for the next time you need to prepare ahead of time, leaving you enough time to enjoy your guests and not sweat the small stuff. And, as part of implementation week, you're practicing setting the holiday table - so the food you just spent hours, days, and even weeks preparing doesn't look silly on a lackluster design. It's not to late to learn a quick tip or two inside my Tablescape Workshop. TABLESCAPE WORKSHOP! Prepare your holiday table NOW by learning how to make it look as beautiful as the food you'll spend hours, even days preparing! Hi friend! Are you hosting for the holidays this year? Maybe it's your first time ever or you're an old hat, but want to be prepared ahead of time instead of playing catch up. Or maybe...you've hesitated hosting because you don't like what your guests will be seeing once they come inside. In this five week mini series, I'll be guiding you through your home holiday preparedness plan. Week by week we'll be focusing on a new goal for our home and with focused attention, we'll be guest ready with a clean, organized, stylish home that is fit for even the pickiest (or nosiest) of guests. Not only will you be getting your home in order, but this mini series will teach you how to decorate a table as beautiful as the food you will be spending hours preparing. In today's episode (and the focus of this week), we are talking about decluttering. Our focus will be to declutter areas that our guests will be privy to: living room, kitchen, dining room, guest bedroom and bathrooms - as well as the pantry and refrigerator. Why declutter before the holidays? Clutter is chaos and the visual over stimulation of your visual chaos ties directly to your stress level. Removing AS MUCH STRESS as you can before hosting extra people, making extra food, engaging in sometimes interesting conversations lightens the load before the load gets heavy. You will not be able to control the conversations at the dinner table and which side of the political line Uncle Eddie is on, but you can control your clutter. Using the three box method this week for every room in your home where guests will have access to, will set you up for a stress free holiday. Three Box Method for Decluttering: 1. Get three boxes or bags 2. Label them: donate, trash and relocate (bonus: you can also have one for recycle) 3. Do one guest accessible room at a time (start small to big, big to small, easy to hard, etc). 4. Choose a companion (podcast, audiobook, TV show) and let that companion be your timer 5. Give yourself a 'carrot' or reward for each room finished. Allow yourself to complete one room/area per day. 6. Apply the one-touch rule: you touch each item one time and place it into one of the boxes The DONATE bag goes directly into the car for delivery. The TRASH (and RECYCLE) bag goes directly. The RELOCATE bag gets emptied out and items placed categorically for more efficient put-away. Do you NEED or WANT help decluttering? Decorating SOS Coaching Calls are designed to help you make your space beautiful - and making your space beautiful isn't always about what you bring IN. Often times decluttering is the FIRST thing that needs to happen, but the thing that is most overlooked. Here are 10 key bullet points from Mason Fredrickson's discussion of the Windermere Ready program: 1. The Windermere Ready program helps sellers make their homes "move-in ready" to net the highest sale price. It provides funding for upgrades and repairs. 2. The program offers quick home equity loans up to 75% combined loan-to-value to fund necessary updates and repairs. 3. Loans are repaid at escrow closing so sellers don't have to come out of pocket. 4. The program saves sellers from a lengthy HELOC application process that can take months for approval. 5. Windermere agents should use this program as a value-add and way to stand out from the competition with a unique offering. 6. The program aligns with Windermere's philosophy of exceptional service and making the process smooth for clients. 7. Use Windermere's presentation templates and marketing materials to easily incorporate this program into listing presentations. 8. Previous users rave about the program's simplicity, friendly service, ability to inform them, and helpfulness of their Windermere agent. 9. The program generates referral business and word-of-mouth for agents as happy sellers spread the word. 10. Hey Friends! Today's episode is a great one to tune in to if you'd like to hear just how easy it can be to prep food and your home before your baby makes it's grand entrance. I wanted to get a head start on much of the food stuff before I slow down even more than I am. Haha. Come the beginning of March I will switch into garden mode and focus on getting our indoor seedlings started.(of course there will be a garden episode on that soon) Mid March is when this baby is due to make her entrance but we all know, babies come when they come! We are in the home stretch here with hopefully a little under 4 weeks to go. I want to be able to still nourish my family with all our staple foods and make it super easy to still do so while I am recovering and adjusting to having a newborn again. I share all the things I am freezing, making double batches of, and some easy go to snacks for me and the kiddos. I know this episode will be insightful and helpful for any "soon to be" Mommas that are looking to get their family and home prepared as best as they can before their new arrival.
