Podcasting Has an Analytics Problem

Currently, if a podcaster wants to get the full picture of their show's growth, they need to look at multiple analytics reports: their hosting company, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and now YouTube. Then they need to correlate how all this data is presented, since it can be very different, depending on IAB Certification, downloads, listens, and more. And that's just the podcaster - then you have media and ad buyer data, too.So how do we bring all this convoluted data together, and where do podcast analytics need to improve to give that fuller picture? Join your host Danny Brown and guest co-host Dan Misener as they dive in to podcasting's analytics problem. Our guest co-host this week:Dan Misener Dan Misener is co-founder of Bumper, a podcast growth agency. Prior to co-founding Bumper, Dan served as Director of Audience Development at Pacific Content. Prior to that, he spent a decade working in public radio at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), both on-air and behind-the-scenes. He was involved in the CBC's earliest podcasting efforts, and served as producer on many national and local news and current affairs programs. Dan has taught podcasting and audio storytelling at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto, the RTA School of Media at Toronto Metropolitan University, and through the Podcast Career Accelerator program at the Hot Docs Podcast Festival. Dan is host and producer of the independent live event and podcast series Grownups Read Things They Wrote as Kids, which has won several industry awards and been downloaded more than 10 million times.

Rewatchability is a Podcast.

It's October, the time of the year that the barriers between the material and spiritual words are weakest, so join us in summoning the ghost of GHOST! Yes, the 1990 supernatural drama starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, Whoopi Goldberg and a glistening, genital-like glob of clay, this movie had something for everyone with a pulse, but how does it hold up for those of us who have passed beyond the mortal coil? OOoooooh!  Listen here to find out! Also subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or Stitcher. Also, follow us on Facebook or Twitter. Wedding bells are ringing on Rewatchability! With Blain's nuptials on the horizon, we celebrate by saying "I Do" to THE WEDDING SINGER! Starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, as well as Christine Taylor, Rapping Granny, and all of Adam Sandler's annoying friends, this movie marries the tenderness of the late 90's rom-com with, well, Adam Sandler's schtick. We thought it was hilarious when we were younger, but how does it hold up today? Listen here to find out! Also subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or Stitcher. Don't touch that radio, this week we're stuck in RUSH HOUR, the 1998 movie that first brought together the versatile fighting force of Jackie Chan with uhh, Chris Tucker. Directed by a guy we'd rather not talk about and spawning two sequels as well as a short-lived TV show, this movie shook up Hollywood with its slick blend of action and comedy, but how does it hold up today? Stefan Brogren plays Snake. You can find more - and far dirtier - fan fiction at fanfiction.net Zack Morris enthusiast Matt Huether is an executive producer of Degrassi: Next Class and a longtime writer on the show. Bruce McDonald is a director whose work includes Hardcore Logo, The Tracey Fragments and Highway 61. Linda Schuyler is the creator of Degrassi, and has also served as bus driver and caterer for the show.   Go here to see a video of Aliya's tour of the Degrassi studios.
