In a dark and very French world, mad scientist Krank (Daniel Emilfork) aided by his 6 clones (Dominique Pinon), tiny woman nurse (Mireille Mosse) and brain in a tank, Uncle Irvin (Jean-Louis Trintignant) sneaks into the dreams of children in order to steal them and stop his unhappy aging. While this is going on, at the docks a side show features strong man One (Ron Perlman) and his little brother, Denree (Joseph Lucien). Also, while all THAT is going on, there is a gang of kids who steal things for the Octopus (Genevieve Brunet, Odille Malet) the leader of which is street smart Miette (Judith Vittet) who reluctantly helps One when the Cyclops Cult kidnaps Denree to deliver to...you guessed it, Krank and his nightmare machine. In 2001, they started out as simple street racing highway robbers. Since then, they've loved, they've died, they've come back to life, they've saved the world probably. At long last, their story comes to and end...er...hold up...it's not the end? It doesn't even know the meaning of the WORD "end?" In any case, it's Fast X, and our engines are suitably revved for Dom and them (and some new faces) to race back into our lives. What's GoodAlonso - Guinevere Turner, When the World Didn't EndDrea - Emo PhillipsMyq - Tom King's Batman comics Ify - Vidiots updates, cleaning out storageITIDICDavid Zaslav Gets Booed at BU Commencement‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' Character Rick Dalton Has Apparently Died“Ultimate Cut” of Cult Classic CALIGULA Screened at CannesEditor talking about the new edit of Caligula: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McuM46YHSSM&t=1sStaff PicksDrea - You Hurt My FeelingsAlonso - MonicaMyq - The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the HorseIfy - Fastlane TV seriesKeep up with Myq Kaplan's shows and albums at myqkaplan.comWith:Drea ClarkAlonso DuraldeIfy NwadiweMyq KaplanProduced by Marissa FlaxbartSr. Producer Laura Swisher

Aloha and welcome to the Sobriety Rocks Podcast! I'm your host Kirk Waterman, today we talk about being Aggressive, Assertive or Passive?Emo Philips said, “Never judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do judge them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.”When I was young, I wasn't passive or aggressive. Instead, I was assertive, and naturally took appropriate action in most every situation. Unfortunately, my surroundings forced me learn to be aggressive, or passive, depending on the circumstances. As I grew up, I lost touch with the natural, assertive part of me, and became an overly aggressive, covertly passive addict. Sadly, drugs, alcohol, and high levels of achievement made that life acceptable for far too long. Then one day, I found myself in addiction recovery, surrounded by passive, aggressive addicts like me. They shared stories about their passive aggressive behavior, but I could see they had changed. Instead of being passive aggressive, they were assertive, confident, positive, and naturally took appropriate action, the same way I did when I was young. I wanted to be that way again! So, I took this “spiritual plan of action” they talked about. Sure enough, my spirit healed, my passive aggressive ways began to diminish, and my natural assertiveness began to shine again. All these years later it still works! I have self-confidence, use positive communication, and am naturally assertive in most situations. But, if I'm inconsistent for any period, I can easily become a passive-aggressive jerk once again. Wherever you're at, I hope you take a little more time to nurture your spirit, so you can have your needs met, maintain your natural assertiveness, and be able to see, hear, and love yourself and others, far more easily. Wel close with a brief breathing meditation to help get us centered. So please get comfortable, close your eyes, take a few slow deep breaths, and join me.Find Treatment Centers Find Recovery Meetings Listen to Recovery Speakers Download Recovery Literature Access Free Recovery Resources Visit RecoveryHQ.com Visit Sober Surgeries Follow us: Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook Contact Us For Help Today!

I know what you're thinking, your brain is the smartest part of your body. But to quote comedian Emo Philips, look who's telling you that. Your brain makes great short-term decisions but often at the cost of better long-term thoughts. Better eating? No thanks, the brain knows that ice cream tastes better. Workouts? The brain knows that those hurt. Saving for the future? Ms. Brain says I need money for right now. Luckily help is on the way in today's episode. Dr. Daniel Willingham joins us to help you trick your brain into better habits. We'll talk about getting more out of meetings so you can earn more. Take better notes so you remember more. Focus on the task at hand so you can stack more Benjamins. Of course, that's not all. During our headline segment, ANOTHER celebrity says that they're going to disinherit their kids. Who would do this and why? Do we agree? We'll share. Also, we'll throw out the Haven Life line to a lucky caller who wants to help HIS mom (our mom 100% approves of this caller!) AND Doug will share his Chinese New Year-related trivia. Producer/Comedian Mike Elis joins Jason on this episode of Learning To Fail. Mike was the first person to ever give Jason a real shot, on a real stage, in front of a real audience. Since then they've fallen in, fallen out and fallen back. But overcoming adversity is what builds lasting relationships. And now they're BFFs for reals. Mike brought Jason his favorite nosh (Lox Shmear on a Cinnamon Raison bagel — Don't judge him!), which Jason proceeds to eat, while they talk, for the first half hour of the show. This seemed like a gesture of kindness at the time, but in hindsight may have equally been just a gag that Mr. Elis could capitalize on both during the interview and on FaceBook. Mike Elis is a part time comic emcee, and to say that Mike has done a lot in his four years in the entertainment business is an understatement. Mike has opened for the likes of Jon Reep, Pam Stone, Emo Philips, Judy Tenuta, and even recently co-starred in a stage show with 80s pop icon Molly Ringwald. Mike recently left the comedy stage to take over as Director of Entertainment for the Abbeville Opera House. He also has a syndicated column for entertainment and comedy in South Carolina, called “A Slice of Mike.” Starting in April, Mike will have his own radio show on WZLA 92.9FM, a show titled "The Mike on the Mic" show. The first ever Jewish-run classic country music and comedy show ever in South Carolina. Also, Mike Elis is writing his first movie script, titled "My Demons Come Out on Stage," a film about dealing with depression and PTSD and how that struggle plays into being an entertainer. Hello everybody, and welcome in to day #8 of Shelter in place for those of us in Central California. I should have marked a week yesterday, but hours sort of bleed into days now, and days bleed into weeks. Things are surreal here, but Heaven is NOT shook. The King is on His Throne and Jesus is at the right hand of the Father ever living to intercede for His people. Let us be praying to Him for repentance, forgiveness, and healing of our land as we face this plague - He is FAITHFUL! Today's readings include Exodus 38, Proverbs 14, John 17, and Philippians 1. John 17 is our focus passage today, as we look at the longest prayer of Jesus recorded in the entire Bible. I'm not going to make you wait very long to see what Jesus prayed THREE times for when praying to His Father for Christians that would come after His ascension - let's read the passage, and find out! 20 “I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in me through their word. 21 May they all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us, so that the world may believe you sent me. 22 I have given them the glory you have given me, so that they may be one as we are one. 23 I am in them and you are in me, so that they may be made completely one, that the world may know you have sent me and have loved them as you have loved me. John 17:20-23 Did you catch it? Three times He prayed that His followers would be ONE - not just any type of oneness either. Review those verses - Jesus was praying that His future followers - US! - would have the same oneness with each other, as Jesus and the Father have. In other words, COMPLETELY ONE! This is an incredible prayer, and, I think a tremendous tragedy that Christians do not take this call to unity more seriously. Far too often, Christians are ready to separate from each other for various doctrinal, personal injury, or personal belief issues. The net result of this is incredible division in the church - tens of thousands of denominations - and an incredible confusion of our message of the Gospel to the World. As Jesus notes, when Christians are in unity with each other - experiencing the oneness that is shared by the Holy Trinity - then the world BELIEVES that the Father sent Jesus. I don't think it is a leap in logic at all to affirm the converse of that statement - that the people of the world have no idea what to believe when Christians are not in unity. 35 years ago, the comedian Emo Philips wrote a joke that was voted as the funniest joke in religion. I actually think it is more sad, than funny, but I will read it to you (without endorsing Emo, because I am unfamiliar with most of his comedy) because I find the joke very insightful: Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!" He said, "Nobody loves me." I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"He said, "Yes." I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?" He said, "A Christian." I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me, too! What franchise?" He said, "Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?" He said, "Northern Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?"He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region." I said, "Me, too!" Northern Conservative†Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over. https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2005/sep/29/comedy.religion I believe that many outside of Christianity view the church in this sort of way - there are so many splinters in christendom that they either laugh, or dismiss us, or don't know who to turn to for big questions and help during a crisis. Our disunity disrupts our message, and that is sad, and a deadly danger to the church. I have seen deep, deep Christian brothers and sisters separate over issues that don't involve major sin, or compromise, or even a disagreement over major doctrines, but over far more minor and disputed issues. Every time I see it, it grieves me, because that is NOT at all what Jesus prayed for in His people, and I'm not always sure how we can justify separation from other believers over such things when Jesus clearly seems to be praying for the opposite. It's not just the Church (big 'C' I am very blessed to experience remarkable unity in the last two churches I've served in, really the last three) I'm concerned about either. Consider this striking teaching of Jesus in the context of what is going on right now in the United States of America (or the United Kingdom...or your country, if it is very divided): 25 Knowing their thoughts, he told them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is headed for destruction, and no city or house divided against itself will stand. 26 If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? Matthew 12:25-32 I very rarely discuss politics on this podcast, and just as rarely discuss it in a church setting. Not because I believe the Constitution silences preachers - that is NOT at all what Thomas Jefferson intended with separation of Church and State (please read what HE actually wrote about it), but because I find politics to be deeply divisive, and I honestly try to avoid that which is divisive in the Body of Christ. But if you will suffer the tiniest bit of political commentary, I'm going to give it now: The United States - and many countries around the world - are facing the gravest crisis we've seen since World War 2. (I suppose if the Cuban Missile Crisis had led to Nuclear war, we could include that in the discussion too!) Consider what Jesus said in light of the U.S. Our country is the most divided and polarized that it has ever been in my lifetime. It is sickening, and it is alarming, and before you start pointing fingers, allow me to say that there is NOBODY out there right now in all of the political arenas that can pick up stones and throw them. EVERY politician I am aware of - at least on the national level - seems to be fueling the fires of division and attack, rather than seeking to bring about the kind of unity that is required to save the nation. There may be some exceptions, I just don't know them. Jesus says that a house divided cannot and will not be able to stand. Divided kingdoms are headed for DESTRUCTION. I'm not pointing fingers at our president, or our previous president, or your prime minister, or what have you. There are massive amounts of blame out there, and it seems like millions of Americans on both sides of the aisle (and even libertarians and non-partisans in the middle) seem to delight in attacking, criticizing, snarling, snarking, arguing, judging and prognosticating doom. I worry more about what this toxic atmosphere will do to our countries than I worry what Covid19 will do to us. We CANNOT stand against this threat divided and hating each other. Some of you are massive partisans - meaning you root with all of your heart for your party and will all of your heart against the other party. The problem is - the other party - no matter which one it is - represents almost half of Americans. You can't hate them and despise them without risking the destruction of the whole enterprise. Imagine that your words - spoken or written - are like bullets, and you are on a floating raft on the ocean. Every time you let loose a vehement attack, a hateful insult, or an angry criticism, you fire a bullet. Maybe that bullet strikes its target, and somebody on board the boat is wounded, or worse. Maybe that bullet lodges into the raft itself, and the whole thing that is keeping you afloat is threatened. Our liferaft can't take bullet after bullet. How do I know this?? Because Jesus said a kingdom divided against itself WILL BE DESTROYED, and I believe Him. So - lay down your guns. I'm not saying you have to agree with the other side. I'm not saying you have to call evil good, or anything like that. I am saying this: 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. Galatians 5:14-15 That passage, and Jesus' house divided speech don't just apply to the church. They apply to marriages, friendships, small groups, large groups, workplaces, and yes, countries and cities and governments. Our greatest danger in the good old U.S.A. right now is not Covid19 - as bad as it is! Our greatest danger is that we seem to be expressing far more hate for our neighbor than love for our neighbor. Let's close with these anointed Words of God that, hopefully, might be sufficient to point us in a better direction: 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:2-3 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Philippians 2:1-4 5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5-6 11 Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. 2nd Corinthians 13:11 10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. 1 Corinthians 1:10 8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. 9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:8=9 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Romans 12:16 Christ would have all his people joined in communion with himself, and with his Father; and when that is the case, then will men know that Christ came into the world for a definite purpose: “that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” C. H. Spurgeon, “‘I Will;’ Yet, ‘Not as I Will,’” in The Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit Sermons, vol. 40 (London: Passmore & Alabaster, 1894), 419.

Listener Erika in Connecticut made Gene Lyons' dreams come true by commissioning the little movie that could: Weird Al's 1989 underground comedy "UHF." This scrappy film mixed corny plot lines with sociopathic humor to remind us all of those strange local stations we watched in our childhood. It was the final role for two very talented actors, and starred several top comedians in their prime: Victoria Jackson, Emo Philips, and Michael Richards. Steve and Harry read letters from listeners. Harry demands a salary and they compare living in NY or LA. They also sing "Bully of the Town".Two great performers are featured. "Amoeba Hop" by Christine Lavin and "College" from the great standup Emo Philips.
When Orion's belt loosened and his pants dropped to his knees, all the other constellations laughed at him. There's a fake news segment and Robin and Linda Williams are guests. Emo Philips, the great stand up comic is featured, as well. In other words, the podcast is chock full of hilarity.
Harry is finding deep meanings in Nursery Rhymes. He then adapts them for intellectuals such as 'Three Rodents With Defective Vision.' Also, Emo Philips does a standup routine and Andy Breckman sings about how he had a real good day.
We were Live with The Goddess of Love. The Petite Flower, The Aphrodite of the Accordion, The Fashion-Plate Saint, The Princess of Panty Shields, The Empress of Elvis Impersonators, The Judy of Judyism, Judy Tenuta... and she was HYSTERICAL! Judy talked about Ladies of the Night which she did with Paula Poundstone, Rita Rudner and Ellen Degeneres, who back then said, "I want to do TV." Now that's manifesting! She talked Emo Philips, Jay Leno, Steven Wright, Sam Kinison, and Arsenio, who were there in the early days. And Tom Dreesen who walked her through it. George Carlin who took her out on the road to open for him, Diet Dr. Pepper, oh the money! Winning the first American Comedy Award, thank you George Schlatter; Joan Rivers whom she adored, Dr. Ruth, Cher, Donnie and Marie, Olivia Newton John, Susan Lucci, Katherine Hepburn, James Stewart, Walter Cronkite, and Mohammed Ali... he's who made her starstruck. Coming up a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame, November 7th, on her scorpio birthday; and independent feature, and, working towards a show of her own, Judy's Love Goddess Boat? What a gas! The Dudes have a chat on their way home from Weird Al's Cleveland stop on "The Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity You." It was awesome. Emo Philips opened! We also talk Ready Player One (before seeing it, check in next episode for our reactions), and Avengers.
Keith just got back from England and talks about an unusual clock he saw there called the Chronophage. Meanwhile Andy just got back from Reno and talks about the GAMA Trade Show. It was held at the Peppermill casino, which Andy really liked, if for no other reason than the giant video screens they have everywhere. Andy talks about how excited everyone is about his new game, Get the MacGuffin, which goes on sale April 5th. Regarding media, they talk about David Letterman's new show, Justice League, Three Billboards, and various others. Andy talks about seeing Weird Al and Emo Philips in concert, and Keith talks about how to destroy and reset the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Lastly, they discuss the first episode of the new season of Timeless.SPOTLER WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS
While Kornflake was away at MarsCon, Kevin was busy with silly things too. One of our comedy music heroes, "Weird Al" Yankovic, brought his "Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour" to Boston for two shows in the same day... and Kevin showed up for both of them. This long weird day also included stand-up from Emo Philips, a round of Weird Al Jeopardy, a backstage meet and greet, and a special late night show from Al's longtime band members Jim West and Steve Jay. (Live Hawaiian guitar music, at a Harvard Square folk club, at midnight, on a Sunday? Sure, we'll be there.) Plus: A stormy night in Rhode Island with The Mads (Mystery Science Theater 3000's Frank Conniff and Trace Beaulieu), a Stevie Nicks tribute concert and burlesque show from Niki Luparelli, and National Make Up Your Own Holiday Day. So go ahead and make up your own holiday. It can't possibly be as stupid as ours.
Jesus's dialogue with Nicodemus in John gives us context to some famous Bible verses. One of those messages to us is to be careful of assuming that those we like and favor can do no bad, and those we dislike can do no good. The world is too complicated to divide into us and them, so we should resist any attempt to use Jesus to do it.

A paraprosdokian is a figure of speech in which the latter part of a sentence is unexpected in a way that causes the listener to reframe or reinterpret the first part. Emo Philips is a master of the paraprosdokian and a comedic genius, immediately recognizable for his pageboy haircut and wandering falsetto (or his iconic role in UHF). Eugene Mirman is the host of Hold On with Eugene Mirman and a master of turning a live storytelling event on its head with his delightful questions and interjections. Now you have all the facts that you need to enjoy this special live episode from the land of Mark Wahlberg and chowder, where comedians annually convene for the Boston Comedy Festival. This edition of the Fest was the site of Eugene and Emo's tremendous battle of wits and where the story of a lost wedding ring was told. In each episode of the Audible Comedy series Hold On, host Eugene Mirman (Bob's Burgers, The Flight of the Conchords) pauses the funny stories of comedians and performers to get the skinny behind the story. Featured and future guests include: Jim Gaffigan, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Lisa Lampanelli, Mike Birbiglia, Reggie Watts, Kumail Nanjiani, Andy Richter, Hasan Minhaj, John Mulaney, and more!

Last season we ended the show watching Revenge of the Ninja (http://revengeofthe.ninja/) where guest Arden chose a random page number from Videohound’s Complete Guide to Cult Flicks & Trash Pics. The idea was that we would watch a film from the page he chose. What luck! On that page was Weird Al Yankovic’s UHF Where can you watch this film? And for once we recommend it. Buy the Blu-ray 25th Anniversary edition. Stream it on - Amazon iTunes Coincidentally, there probably aren’t any UHF stations where you can watch UHF. Check your local listings! This episode we’re joined by Sally from Sallyannk.com. During the episode she talks about the upcoming One Spark competition. As of posting this show we know she placed 9th in her category! Chris appeals to Cracker Jack to sponsor the show. UHF had heavy competition in 1989. We decided that Weird Al needs one of Sally’s beanies. It’s a good price, get one for yourself! Paul’s first cassette ever? Alapalooza. The film has an amazing story when it comes to its video release. Check out the “Legacy” section of the Wikipedia entry. Supposedly the movie was loosely based on The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, a Danny Kaye film based on a short story. Ben Stiler stars in the remake. You do not have permission to use a real oscar in your silly film! So here’s a bashful, gold statue. Everyone needs a Nash Metropolitan. The undisputed king of sandwiches. Weird Al builds a mountain of mashed potatoes a la Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Is that the Inspector Gadget villain again? Victoria Jackson shows up in the film. She sticks to her lines and thankfully doesn’t accuse Obama of being a communist. Crispin Glover was offered the role of the janitor, but turned it down. They also tried to get Christopher Llyod. Michael Richards from Seinfeld is crazy young and one of the best parts of the film, the janitor. Chris thinks Fran Drescher looks like a Swatch watch in her dress. It’s a Film Frown alum! Billy Barty is the camera man at the station. We saw him in Harum Scarum. One of the great surrealist comedians, Emo Philips has a hilarious bit in the film. The Spatula City commercial entertains us all. The movie says it’s time to show a Weird Al video. Beverly Hillbillies. Chris loves Weird Al’s take on Wile E. Coyote and The Road Runner. Wheel of Fish? No you don’t get a clip because we’ve already spoiled enough in these notes. Trinidad Silva is amazing in this film. His character has an “animal kingdom” TV show on the public access station Al manages. Unfortunately, he died in a car accident before shooting ended and the film is dedicated to him. “You get a drink from the fire hose!” That’s the iconic line and scene from this movie. Where does the “We don’t need no stinkin’ badges!” line come from? The book The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and its 1948 film. Weird Al parodies The Geraldo Rivera Show. In the TV station there’s a Thing With Two Heads poster. The bizarre but lovable bum in the film was played by Vance Colvig Jr.. He was one of the first Bozo the Clowns. Of course there has to be a Rambo parody. Anthony Geary from General Hospital plays Philo, named after inventor Philo Farnsworth. Weird Al’s character is named George Newman in a nod to Alfred E. Neuman the mascot of Mad magazine. Sally wants more Weird Al movies. We found these interviews he did for the Nerdist network. Where’s the commentary in streaming? If you’re interested you can find some commentary in films using VHX.tv to distribute digitally. David Cross’s new film Hits has an option to get bundled extras. Paul also mentions that iTunes has Extras available for some films as well. Sally choses another page from the cult movie book! Next season we have to watch Tower of London, Top Secret! or Touch of Evil. Stay tuned after the ending theme song - we do some bonus talk about Weird Al trivia and copyright, as well as catch up with Sally’s adventures in up-cycling / recycling / repurposing goods through hand (not mine) crafting. And a double-bonus track at the very end, Paul talks with his daughter Evie just before the show starts. Thanks for listening! And thanks for taking time to join us again, Sally! Up next, 1995’s Waterworld. Support Film Frown on Patreon

Evan J. Kessler, known by TMZ as "J-Kess"Allow a few seconds for buffering.Yahoo! player or right click HERE to download | Launch pop-up player"A New York comic now doing it in L.A." That's how Evan Kessler was first described to Art.In this interview, Evan sets the record straight that he actually began doing standup in California. Kessler talks about what it's like to begin a career in standup in the show business mecca of Los Angeles, and his brushes with star comics like Maria Bamford and Emo Philips. He also gives insight into his day job, working as a writer and production assistant on various reality shows. Along the way he also talks about the very beginnings of his career back in New York, writing for the National Lampoon Web site and working on various VH-1 "I Love..." shows. 69 minutes.Art's comments: "I think it's a lot of people's dream to step onto a stage in Hollywood and try to make it as a comedian. Evan Kessler is actually living it. While the rest of us are creeping down the interstate to our cubicle farms, this guy is hitting the clubs and making his dream come true. For that alone he deserves for you to listen to his story."Not to mention that he later tweeted he was holding back vomit throughout this interview. For Epi54 of Succotash, the Comedy Podcast Podcast, we wade back into the clips and there are a bunch from shows that we’ve never played before. Some of those are part of the lineup at RadioFUBAR.com so I decided to do a "mini-featurette" by playing a quartet of FUBAR clips, courtesy of Mr. Producer over there. Sidenote of note: I make it a point on this show to pretty much play the samples from different comedy podcasts without much commentary – unless it’s about how they sound technically and whether I think they should work on that – but the reason is to let YOU hear them and set you off on a voyage of discovery…or not. It’s funny but in 54 episodes of doing this show, I have yet to ever hear from a listener whether you like or dislike a single show that that's been featured. Of course, some of the shows I clip come from YOUR suggestions, so those would be “Likes”, of course. Other than than, no one’s ever emailed or tweeted or commented on the home site about shows they either liked or didn’t like. Feel free to do so, if you want. (The above is not entirely true, as I do hear from people occasionally that let me know that they got turned onto a specific show they might not have otherwise found.) NEW SUCCOTASH DESIGN Yes, it's true. The graphic artists down in the Succotash Art Department put together a new image this past week and we’ve got it up on our merch in The Succotashery. It’s the two most basic ingredients of succotash: Lima beans + corn + a pot. There are no words so you have to do the math yourself wto figure out that the answer's Succotash. Although on some of the t-shirts and the tote bag we have the classic Succotash logo on the other side. Just click on the Succotashery link on the website to grab yourself some of our hot new look. THE COUNTDOWN Here’s this week’s The 10 Most Active in the Stitcher Top 100 Comedy Podcast List: 37. Walking The Room +3763. By The Way: In Conversation with Jeff Garlin -1964. Dining with Doug and Karen +21165. The Naughty Show -1873. Todd n’ Tyler Radio Empire +30684. The Onion -4386. About Last Night -2788. Mike And Tom Eat Snacks +1989. Alonzo Bodden: Who’s Paying Attention? -1995. The Best Medicine Show +128 LIVE APPEARANCES! Most comedians with podcasts get to use them as a way to plug upcoming shows. Now I get that chance! I'm performing in a new style of live show we're calling Speechless and we have a kind of "beta test" version going up next Friday night at the 9th Street Independent Film Center at 145 9th Srteet (at Minna), Suite 101, in downtown San Francisco. It's a little like a Powerpoint-based version of the Set List Show, except our performers have to deliver a presentation on a random topic which they then have a set of never-seen-before random slides in a PowerPoint deck. The show's at 8 PM, tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Then on Monday, April Fools' Day, I'll be appearing with the April's Fools Show at the 142 Throckmorton Theatre in downtown Mill Valley. The show features the likes of our own Will Durst as well as Johnny Steel, Bob Sarlatte, Michael Bossier, Dick Bright, and a bunch of other funny folks doing spoken word, standup, music and maybe a little improv, too! That show starts at 7:30 PM and should be a lot of fun. BURSTS OF DURST Because this epi is dropping a little late, we have TWO Bursts O' Durst with political comedian Will Durst to play. So I'm playing one near the top of the show and the second in Durst's usual position as the headliner for the show. MUSICAL INTERLUDE At the end of this episode's TweetSack section, I feature Wine & Twitter, a new song from sci-fi/comedy songster John Anealio. He's making this single free to download as well, just by going to http://Jon Anealio.com! CLIPS The Paul Mecurio ShowThis new show by comedian Paul Mecurio is on the SideShow Network and the clip we have, from Epi7, is Part Two of his interview with Lewis Black. It’s a great interview and I did a review of Paul’s show last week for This Week In Comedy Podcasts on Splitsider.com. The RadioFUBAR Mini-Featurette SetI got an email a couple of weeks ago from Frank, AKA “Mr. Producer” at RadioFUBAR.com where they have a lot of podcasts on their roster. So I said send me a few clips and I'll play a sampling from their lineup. Here are the four we're showing on this episode: The Matt Ruefer 4 Hours of Power One Hour PodcastThis show features Matt Ruefer, Pete, Jacob and Mr. Producer as they talk about anything and everything (mostly nerdy.) They almost always talk about Star Trek, Star Wars or some other nerd stuff. In this clip, the guys talk about the leak of the original star wars cast have been cast for the new version. They play on RadioFUBAR.com Wednesdays at 9pm Central. Chick n’ DickChick n’ Dick we have actually featured on Succotash before. The co-host, John, used to be part of a duo that did a show called the Truth or Truth Podcast. Chick n' Dick is another "stream of conscience" podcast with John and Tara, a husband and wife team, along with their friend Uriah. They are LIVE on RadioFUBAR.com Saturdays at 7pm Central. The N3rdG4sm LulzcastThe N3rdG4sm (pronounced nerdgasm) Lulzcast is four guys (LJ, Joe Keg, Jerry H Christ and Silent Dave) talking about all things nerd: Movies, phones, TV, game consoles and such. It's played on RadioFUBAR.com Thursdays at 7:00pm Central. Uniformed OpinionsUniformed Opinions, while not technically a comedy, is four veterans (Ben, Noam, Frank and Silent Dave) from different services talking about different stuff. They give their opinions on different things from a veteran's point of view. The show tends to be funny because they use typical military gallows humor. It plays on RadioFUBAR.com Wednesdays at 7pm Central. So that's the mini-featurette lineup from RadioFUBAR.com - hop on over to theri site and check out all their offerings! Sal & Angelo PodcastSal Calanni and Angelo Lorenzetti are San Francisco comedians and they’ve been interviewing mostly comedian from the area, including those who have done well, moved and then come back to eitehr work, visit or live. Sal recently interviewed Kevin Avery, who has been working as the head writer on W. Kamau Bell’s Comedy Central Show Totally Biased. Into Your Head PodcastInto Your Head is a podcasts is out of Ireland and host Neal (that's all - just Neal) has cranked out 670 episodes. It's amazing that it's taken me this much time to get around to clipping it. Good stuff - his delivery reminds me a bit of an Irish version of comedian Emo Philips. Sweet Feathery JesusBooze, Belasco & Dr. P - the boys at Sweet Feathery Jesus - have come up with a new way to get around the N-word in rap songs…by using another N-word. PodcheeseAnother show I’ve been wanting to get on is Podcheese. One of the co-hosts, Benny Michaels, made it too easy NOT to clip them this episode by sending in a clip featuring what he says is a showcase of he and fellow co-host Josh Bennett's "masterful" improvisational skills. That whole pile of clippage is for you. Please remember as you carry those out into the world, to remember to pass the Succotash! — Marc Hershon

Joe Avati called it in on this episode. Literally. This "classic" lost show dates back to 2005 and was recently found while going through the vaults. The Italo-Aussie comic became our first phone guest on this 40th edition of What's So Funny? We also played clips from Emo Philips, Frank Spadone, Ray Romano and Avati himself.
