How can we be more playful in our relationship with digital tools? In this episode host Menka Sanghvi explores creative practices with the prolific writer and artist John-Paul Flintoff. We all get the sense sometimes that we're working on our digital devices in unintentional ways. John-Paul describes this, for him, as a “free floating, disembodied, frenetic quality and a sense of urgency and impatience”. Listening to John-Paul reflecting on his personal journey, it is clear that he has become really self-aware about how he feels when he is using technology. And he's found a whole host of creative responses to that. John-Paul Flintoff is the author of six books that have been translated into 16 languages, including How To Change The World. He previously worked for 15 years as a writer and associate editor on the Financial Times, the Sunday Times, and other papers and magazines. He is also a speaker, performer and artist. Key Takeaways For This Episode Bitcoin, with the time more and more Bitcoin has only stood the test of time proving its reliability more and more & becoming a larger storage of value. A pretty cool thing that has been Brough to my attention that in terms of "hype" Bitcoin is actually trending lower in terms of search results & such, which goes to show this value storage growing organically for which if you are a believer it is just honestly beautiful to see. If all S&P 500 companies were to allocate 1% of their cash to bitcoin, estimates show that its price would increase by approximately $40,000Digital Wallets, this industry itself is already so strong so valuable & the amazing thing is with more time this industry will continue to shape out what we can do. This "Fintech" revolution that we are living in is next level, I mean you have Credit Karma which is an app that is now checking your credit score for you on the daily. Theres things like Cashapp & Venmo that allow me to pay my peers for an avocado & never have to deal with cash. I mean you can buy stocks now on some of these same apps that youre allowed to exchange money on & this just honestly the BEGININNG so buckle up its going to an amazing & fruitful ride.Until recently, humans programmed all software. Depp learning, a form of artificial intelligence (AI), uses datat to write software. by "automating" the creation of software, deep learning could turbocharge every industry. Artificial Intelligence, I know for some it may literally be decades since they've heard the dawn of AI is among us & truthfully those people didn't deceive you or lie to you in anyway its just the exponential growth hasn't necessarily caught up to where we've assumed it would, but the fundamentals of AI continue to remain untouched & are just growing stronger which is why things now are looking the dawn of Artificial Intelligence that allot have been waiting for. As more & more people get involved with the space more innovations it causes but also the cheaper it gets to perform in this industry.

John-Paul Flintoff, on how one cup of tea could change your life. This is a talk about how one cup of tea (or coffee) could change your life. We all want to make changes, both big and small, and often those changes start with a conversation. What makes some conversations special? How do you have a conversation that changes everything? Where do you even begin? Having worked for years as an interviewer, and trained as a performer and coach, John Paul Flintoff understands the power of conversation. He will show us that really transformative conversations needn’t take much longer than a shared cup of tea. And now he’s made it his mission to start lots of those conversations by taking mugs, and hot drinks, to talk with strangers everywhere… John-Paul Flintoff is the author of How To Change The World, among other books. A former associate editor on the FT and Sunday Times, he’s also a performer and a maker of things, from nettle underpants to high-end ceramic ware. Recorded in March 2017 at 5x15 Bristol. 5x15 brings together five outstanding individuals to tell of their lives, passions and inspirations.
